Quite a basic hostel, but definitely not too bad. We stayed in the outbuilding (used mainly for larger groups I believe) which could have been cleaner and didn't have enough power points. But the staff is really nice, the kitchen good equipped and they also have boardgames and a guitar! Kitchen and common areas are clean and comfortable.

This was my first experience in a hostel, I typically stay in airbnbs but my friend and I were in a tight spot. The hose was really lovely, we had a private room. There were two kitchens and ample shared spaces. Everyone was really quiet and respectful after 10, even though we had a late arrival. Dawn was really gracious and gave us lots of tips of places to go and eat. We had coffee at the hostel before checkout and the shower was amazing. Really solid place to stay if you're hiking the Cabot trail!

Stayed in a room with 10 beds, good size and seemed clean. Really friendly staff Dale and Leena who were helpful and fun. Rusty Anchor up the street walking distance was awesome for seafood and had a nice patio on the water. Skyline Trail not too far away but some construction on the road. They had 2 kitchens and enough full bathrooms for all. Fire pit outside. Cheap couple of nights.

Super friendly owner, lovely spot and plenty of chatty fellow travelers. Note there is no laundry which we were hoping for but that's probably our fault for not reading things properly. Kitchen and social area was well stocked with essentials. Family Room Very spacious and pleasant for 2, but i guess it was made for 5!

I stayed one night in that hostel for my long hiking weekend and I enjoyed it. The owner, Shane is super friendly and was really helpful getting me a place to sleep the next day. The place is clean and the beds are good (it's an hostel not an hotel). It's a nice place to stay if you don't want to spend to much money on accommodations in the park.

The hostel is great, clean and quite. You have everything you need for cooking, washing, etc. The hostel is right on the Cabot Trail, close to the park so it’s perfect if you want to visit the park. The big advantage of being in this hotel is the service and the tips provided by Dawn and her friendliness. Dawn is a wonderful person and she knows very well the Cape Breton National Park. She will give you a lot of good advice on the trails (what to do and what to avoid). She also helped us with the organisation of the rest of our trip (Good place to stay, what to visit and good bar/restaurant to go). The location, the staff and the general accommodation are great. I really enjoyed my stay and I strongly recommend this Hostel!

Great option if you’re looking to drive around the Cabot trail on a budget. Was my first time staying in a hostel and I thoroughly enjoyed it, people there were pleasant and friendly and had some great advice on some spots we should check out while in the area. There were a few noisy people who stayed there and were loud going into the bunkhouse late at night, stomping around and using flashlights but thats bound to happen on occasion and doesn’t reflect poorly on the hostel - if you are a light sleeper then a hostel probably isn’t for you. Will definitely be back next year

Very friendly staff! Owner was really nice, we ended up coming later than we expected and she waited for us. Accommodations were lovely, felt like being in someone's home. There were two kitchens, multiple bathrooms, firepit in the back. We only stayed one night. Definitely recommend staying here! Lots of friendly people hanging out too.
