Close enough to the downtown area this charming hostel is perfect for travelers on a budget. Shannon who runs the place is a great host. You meet all kinds of friendly people staying here. Never had to wait for the bathroom and a very clean and safe place to stay. They do have lockers to lock up valuables so v bring your lock. Breakfast of banana bread and coffee is provided and you can use the kitchen to make meals. Watch a movie, okay fine records, relax in the front yard. All around a great stay. Thanks Shannon!

This is a charming little hostel in a prime location in a quiet neighborhood while being close to restaurants and downtown. Shannon was amazing with her genuine care and concern for her guests. I think she thought of everything to make this place comfortable and welcoming including suggestions of things to do, books and DVDs to use, complimentary basic breakfast and signage everywhere to explain how everything works. The price was great at only $50 for a night in a 6 bed mixed dorm room. I never had to wait for a shower or toilet. I stayed in room 3 and my only complaint is that it was hot and stuffy all night despite the windows being open and a fan blowing.

Just imagine yourself living in a house built in 1908 with modern day conveniences. The house is well maintained and beautifully decorated. Shannon, the host is exceptionally kind and thoughtful. The volunteers are wonderful. The hostel is in the historic district of the city, within walking distance to all places of interest. If you are coming by Maritime Bus, the bus terminal is only 1.2 km from the hostel.

Loved my stay here! Shannon and the rest of the staff are so helpful and accommodating. They make it really feel like you’re staying at a friends house rather than a hostel. The free breakfast is great too as well as the location and amenities (pool table etc)

This hostel is amazing. I stayed there for a weel and I highly recommend it. It has everything you need and it is a great place to meet other travellers. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The banana bread at breakfast is excellent. Shannon and all the volunteers are so nice!

A clean and cozy hostel in a great location. The atmosphere feels like you're staying at a friend's house compared to a typical hostel. It's on a quiet street very close to downtown Charlottetown, the Confederation Trail, and the waterfront. Shannon and the team are very friendly and run a well organized operation. It was nice to chat with the staff and other guests over breakfast in the morning

I lost $317 for a reservation I made 2 weeks in advance. I gave them cancellation notice of over 1 week for 5 of the days, and all of this was beyond my control due to the Air Canada strike action. Furthermore, I have been nothing but polite with these people and in return they were not willing to be flexible. Additionally, my recommendation is that no one book with this business due to it being unreliable in the fact you can't get your money back if you stay more than 7 days.. In reply: Your staff sent me an email the same day as the booking in where they admitted in writing that they failed and forgot to notify me of the terms of the non refundable deposit. "we forgot to mention that any bookings of more than 7 nights in one ore more reservations require a 50% non-refundable deposit." In addition to this I never signed the guest agreement that contains the clauses about the non refundable deposit. Also Hi Charlottown may not really be a "small business" because your parent company is Hi Canada and they have hundreds of hotels all over the country. I apologize if my mother was less than polite. I know why you are trying to keep the money but if you are and in addition also claiming business interruption on your hotel insurance it's a big no no. Sincerely: Benjamin.

Definitely the best hostel ever! I usually stay in HI hostel, because I am a frequent traveller to Ottawa, Montreal… and they are standardize, at the same time personable staff, provide adhoc activity, good recommendations, safe stay and clean for quality. About the stay in PEI - I stayed for one night only, but the hostel is very tidy, clean, well designed, convenient location at downtown, people (in the hostel) there are considerate and chat with you which makes you feel safe for alone traveller. I’d say first the bed is tidy and hygienic, washroom and shower are spacious and clean (no moulds or slippery floor) and the design is comfy which reconcile a sauna to me (fyi. Feels like a Nordic one) with bright space of course, washroom with hooks and chair for bags, basin are absolutely clean. Plus the staff are friendly, and Shannon - the hostel owner and manager are very nice and personable. There are also public parking spaces nearby for my vehicle. I don’t know why Google marked it temporary close previously before I arrive and during the days I stay (I hope it’s fixed now), it’s OPEN! And I knew the hostel is operated by a new owner to the one in few years ago, so the hostel is in different hands and managed differently. The hostel experience makes my stay in PEI so pleasant, a remarkable impression in PEI, and a charge in the East coast road trip and then to Québec. I would truly recommend you all to stay, I will come back someday if there’re a chance to visit PEI again. I’m sure.
