HI Charlottetown Backpackers Inn

It is a clean place, safe, and friendly staff. However, it is a hostel and not a regular Inn. I booked the loft private room, but it was more like a room in the attic with steep stair case to enter and exit the room. The worse part for me was that the restroom was 2 flights of steps down from the top. Bad situation for someone that does not have a camel bladder. I asked the staff for cancellation of the rest of my stay, but she didn't offer any other rooms or options. Instead, I got a talk. I saw the next day that the hostel has another private room that was would be available the next day. ...but the staff did not offer me that option. I did cancel the rest of my booking. I did not get value for the money that I paid. It would have been better to pay a little more to stay at a regular hotel.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Room was clean and fresh and very cozy. Owner Shannon was so insightful and knowledgeable about the local culture and things to do in the area. All around just a great place to chill and relax. You can tell the owner loves this place and honestly it shows. When I checked in it smelled like homemade banana bread, amazing! Thank for the great stay Shannon!

The best hostel experience!! Shannon and the team were so warm, welcoming, and helpful. The hostel was very clean and very safe as a solo female traveller. Breakfast was great, location was in walking distance to everything I needed. Highly recommend staying here!

One of the best hostels I’ve been to in Canada. The owner, Shannon, was very welcoming, kind, and helpful throughout my visit. Squeaky clean rooms (and bathrooms) with air conditioning are provided. Free breakfast—the homemade banana bread was amazing! Short walk away from the waterfront and the main tourist avenues. Great value for money. Can’t wait to stay again the next time I’m on the Island!

Great cozy place with amazing Vibes! Make sure to stay there, while in Charlottetown! You'd love its home-like atmosphere and make friends not only with the fellow guests, but also staffs! Free breakfast is a delicious and really nice treat! Def. would recommend and coming back for sure one day!

Stayed in a private room, great stay!! Shared washrooms but lots of options, clean and was never an issue. Owner is extremely friendly, breakfast in the morning is basic but does the job. For the price point and compared to other stays in Charlottetown we would definitely stay again!

We loved our stay there! The house is really lovely with cosy rooms, a big kitchen and a nice garage to hang out with a record player and a pool table. We had our own suite for a very reasonable price. Shannon was by far the friendliest host from our whole trip - thank you for that! It was definitely our home away from home experience. Highly recommended!

Honestly the best Hostel all over Canada. Shannon the owner is a lovely lady which puts everything she got into the hostel! She made our stay unforgettable and since the hostel is quite small you feel really familiar with all the people! I would definitely recommend the hostel and would stay again!
