I challenge you to find better karaage (anything else isn't really worth it though tbh)

An absolutely great discovery -for us-. This unpretentious restaurant is one of the best Japanese restaurants I have been in Vancouver. The menu is simple, not complicated or full of fancy lingo. It has a great variety of dishes all at very good prices. The food is nothing but excellent. Service is fast but not on your face. The servings are quite large so be careful of what you order. One main dish will have you done for the day. Their appetizers are great, fantastic quality and taste. We even dared to ask for dessert.. which was fantastic and tasty... and huge! What a great place to spend lunch or dinner time with family and friends. There is no doubt we will come back.. soon!

Easy to order online and pick up/pay at the restaurant. Hadn't been here in years, and I know they were always busy when dine in was open. So happy to see the quality is still on par, simple and delicious comfort food. I had the Oyako Don, the chicken was plentiful and so juicy. Family had the Seafood Platter (good variety of seafood and nice tartar sauce, wondering if it's made in house?) and Pork Katsu Curry. Would love to go back for some of their other items!

Very satisfying. Ordered the curry and friedpork, the portion was huge and I was very full afterwards. My partner ordered the grilled salmon, it was good, but could be less salty. Octopus balls are good but small portion. Excellent service.

Wanna eat comfy food like at your grandmas? Look no further, this is the one. This Japanese restaurant is located inside a senior rest home, where you can eat in the same environment of the residents. Seems like a great interaction, once you can try amazing and tasty real Japanese food, made by Japanese. I had salmon and it was awesome, good portion and well distributed. Free parking at the subterranean parking.

Peaceful, quiet spot to come for some of the best spicy karage don around. I've been coming for years and have never been disappointed. The curry is also quite popular. The price is a little steep 25$ for two don after tax and tip, but the quality matches the price. Also, contrary to google, it does not require a reservation to eat here.

Great quality Japanese food in the cafeteria of the seniors home. Busy. They open at 6:15pm and there was already a lineup at 6pm. Free parking underneath. Daily fresh sheet. Had to wait a while for the food but worth waiting because it's made fresh to order.

This place is a hidden gem? I guess so because it's off Kingsway and you would not have any idea there was a restaurant here. This place only became a restaurant when the Japanese care home needed to find a Japanese chef. He would only do it if he could run a restaurant after the seniors meals, so the hours are limited. This place is very popular and if the line up was taken in account this place would drop to 3 stars. I've showed up at 5:30pm when they open at 6:15, and was still the 3rd group to be seated. The spicy karrage don is my go to dish. The delux genki box does sell out quickly. The tempura here is delicious, and you can get the recipe on their website. They are very busy and will not answer the phone at times which means they are not taking any take out orders. Parking lot closes at 9pm, so you have to get out or have your car locked til the next day.

I could not say enough great things about this restaurant. It is located at the Nikkei Cultural Centre and senior home. But don't let that confuse you for a normal eatery, because it is so much more. Their service is always friendly even when things get hectic and lineups become big. I've not ever seen them look irritated at any impatient guests either, which I have so much respect for. Their popular ones are their sweet and spicy karaage bento which is super moist and tasty fried chicken pieces served on rice with a side of miso soup. The other dish, Is their large curry cutlet dish and by large I mean large enough to share. I highly recommend these dishes to start and I can assure you that you will order to go too, yes its that good! Ambiance is also quiet enough to carry a conversation, which is a nice change compared to most Japanese restaurants here in Burnaby.
