I met my friend for an early morning coffee one summer morning before the day got started and Hi Hat Coffee in Mission, KS is a great place to jump start your day! We both indulged in a seasonal creation and enjoyed the outside seating to catch up on life before navigating the day. The cafe itself is quite cozy and they have seating outside. All of this adds to the charm of Hi Hat. This is definitely a place to check out!

I came here around lunch time, absolutely lovely atmosphere! It felt so intimate and the staff, I believe Lauren was working (short bob), so attentive and nice! I will definitely be coming back she made this experience better! The pastries were bogo and delicious. Also the flavor profiles and drinks are outstanding!

It's absolutely my favorite little gem of a coffee ship in Kansas City! Right off the Plaza. Tiny little one room coffee shop. Nowhere to sit inside but sitting outside! The honey bee frozen coffee hits like a million bucks after negative account balances for years. Great place highly recommend any of the frozen coffees.

Google
Popular coffee shop, very small with limited outside seating. Plenty of drinks on the menu and some baking. Cinnamon roll was delicious however it would have been better if I was offered to have it heated up. Peach smoothie was excellent! Would recommend.

Google
Hi Hat coffee is the cutest coffee shop in the KC area. However, if you want to enjoy your coffee onsite, pick a nice day because there is no indoor seating. Located in an old gas station, the coffee shop is absolutely charming. The idyllic patio is the perfect place to enjoy a warm coffee in the fall or an iced coffee in the heat of summer. They have a wide variety of coffee flavors and several pastries to choose from. The coffee is delightful and I would highly recommend the homemade pop tart.

Google
Adorable coffee shop in the Kansas City Area. The inside is on the smaller side but don’t let that keep you away! My first time visiting and Claire and Rebecca made my experience wonderful. I’m not familiar with coffee but wanted to try out this place for awhile and finally came in. I asked them their recommendations and they both mentioned the The Bee High Latte. I’ve been staying away from caffeine and let me know that that the regular coffee can be replaced with decaf and no dairy substitutes if needed. I received my latte within minutes. They also have fresh pastries I snagged the last cranberry pastry (I can’t remember the name but was delicious) before a rush came in. It’s was colder today but they do have an outdoor seating area for the nicer weather. Thank you so much for the recommendations and will be back in again.

Yelp
Hi Hat has still got it! In the metro where we often find big strip malls, ever-widening highways, bigger houses, sprawling city limits, Hi Hat Coffee serves as the perfect antidote to this affliction by serving coffee in a cozy, homey environment. Gently tucked into the West Plaza and Westwood Hills neighborhood, this place has become perfection for me and my little family. I would say it's like grabbing a coffee from your kitchen, but it's more appropriate to say it's like hanging out in the little breakfast nook as you read the paper. This place is incredibly tiny, but everyone easily rolls with it as it adds so much charm. Their baristas are often friendly, and the coffee is fantastic. I love their drip and iced coffees, but this is also one of the few spots where I'll opt for some sort of specialty latte on occasion. The Nutty Irishman (hazelnut and almond, I believe?) and and Bee-Hive (honey and cinnamon) are popular and fantastic, iced or hot. The coffee still shines and they're never overly sweet. I would suggest adding an extra shot of espresso for the larger size. The patio April-October is magical. Good energy and old friends catching up. For me, based on proximity, vibe, quality, and that special, hyper-local flare of Hi-Hat, this is my favorite coffee shop in Kansas City. Keep doing what you're doing Hi-Hat!

Yelp
HiHat was a charming coffee shop with pastries and a diverse menu of drinks. I appreciated the area it's in as it's clean and quiet with other shops next door to explore while you enjoy your coffee. I tried the Golden Latte and loved it. The service was efficient and friendly. I will definitely return!

Yelp
Originally an old 66 gas station this adorable coffee shop in Westwood has become a local favorite. Service was great. Didn't try any of the pastries but they looked delicious. Coffee was yummy. The patio is so adorable!

Yelp
Excellent and flavorful espresso in the latte. The Oat Milk adds creamy texture. Excellently made. Hi Hat was busy today. There were local regulars, and the two baristas were friendly and efficient. The baristas form relationships with their regular customers and they even come back when in town. Baristas are also friendly and welcoming to not so regulars. It has been at least 8 years since I last went to Hi Hat. The outdoor seating area is wonderful and welcoming. In a world if drive thru coffee, it is worth parking and going into this cute Cafe to get your coffee. The baristas even make designs in the foam. You don't get that at a drive thru.

Yelp
Hi Hat Coffee is a unique establishment that made a lasting impression on me after my first visit. The coffee was delicious, but what really stood out was the cozy ambiance. I visited on a chilly, rainy fall Saturday morning and the atmosphere, with only a few people and their dogs in sight, felt like something out of a romantic comedy movie. You know the type? The service was exceptional, and I highly recommend visiting this place if you get the chance.

Yelp
I love their coffee! Their seasonal drinks are always great, and the vibes are amazing inside. Sitting outside on a chair on a fall day is such a cozy experience. Baristas are always kind and have recs for you, definitely recommend!

Yelp
A cute and quaint little coffee shop. No indoor seating as it is extremely small, but that's the fun about it. Perfect for a beautiful day to sit outside and sip coffee. Lots of delicious flavors to choose from and even a few pastries available. This is one of my fav places in KC and I enjoy bringing new friends with me to check it out.

Yelp
Hi Hat Coffee is one of the most unique coffee shops in all of North America! If you are remotely close and want some great coffee, you have to try this place. You will be so glad you stopped!!
google avatar

erika B.

Yelp
Always friendly, always feels like home. Deliciousness & The artwork was impeccable (especially using Oatmilk) and the latte was bomb. So sad I am forgetting the Barista's name, forgive me, but I believe it was Erin. Thank you for your skills!
google avatar

Yelp
I came here for a late night hot latte was so impressed by the staffs friendliness! They asked me about my day how I was doing and weren't scared to strike a conversation with me. I enjoyed their presence while they made me such a tasty drink with this cold front coming!

Yelp
Very friendly and good coffee. Very small place in a small multi-business strip. Gelato shop two doors down, to go with your coffee or tea!
google avatar

Yelp
A coffee shop can't get any cuter than this. I believe it used to be a It's tiny, no seating inside, but they do have some chairs outside on the patio. A lot of the same employees have been there for years, it's a true neighborhood spot. The iced chai is perfect for a non-coffee drinker like myself.
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
Cool little place! The coffee is good too. They have delicious and unique flavored lattes, blended drinks and then all of the coffee shop classics. Service is quick and friendly. And even though it's a walk-up/outdoor seating only place. They DO have a restroom. We like this place.

Yelp
I don't get by here as often as I used to since it's no longer on my daily commute but it didn't surprise me today when I popped in that I was received with the same warm small talk that has always been a core skill of the staff. It's always been clear that they make an attempt to connect with everyone that comes in. It could be through commenting on their outfit or asking their plans for the day and then following that up with additional thoughtful questions. It's incredibly welcoming and the type of service and interactions I crave. Thank you for always staying true to that level of customer service!

Yelp
This place is bustling! I dropped my Son off at school and ended up passing the cafe' by mistake. Of course God doesn't make mistakes so I did a u-turn pretty quick. I parked up the road a bit and walked down, much better when it's time to leave, trust me. If you think it looks small from the street, you'll be even more surprised upon entering. I was so confused thinking I would grab a table and get some work done. Had my little binder and all. Haha, silly me. Upon entering... that's literally it! You enter, menu is straight ahead, barista counter to the right, order, turn all about, say "excuse me" repeatedly because it's packed and it's small, then wait OUTSIDE. Absolutely no room to congregate inside. The menu has some very unique selections available, didn't want to take too much time reading them so I ordered with my gut health in mind, an anti-inflammatory turmeric latte with oat. Delish. Plenty of seating out front but if you're not in the social mood there's a bit more privacy at the patio table w/umbrella off to the side. A creek runs behind the cafe', there's a raised garden box that will look great once it's planted out. Took awhile to get my drink which is to be expected at 8:30am . I was delighted to see three ducks playing in the creek. Nature's entertainment is free and peaceful. Cool find. I'd try it again during non peak hours.

Yelp
What a magical little coffee shop. It rests on a pristine corner on State Line, and just like the city of Westwood Hills, the building is small and charming. My grandparents had a small gas station made of rock in the 1930's and I could see the quaint similarities of the two structures. It certainly made me wish that it was still in the family. The Covid line out into the side lot was kept moving by the barista / juggler. Two people inside at a time to decide, place your order and pay , then step outside and allow 2 more in while you listen for her to yell your name. Completely efficient and civilized during a time of uncertainty and incivility. The espresso macchiato was perfect to sip while window shopping at the flower shop and grabbing some chocolates for myself and gifts at Annedore's next door. An idyllic morning!

Robert G.

Yelp
Amongst my favorite coffee shops. You know what would be perfect? Live music occasionally

Yelp
LOVE this place! Staff are all extremely friendly! I wasn't a huge breakfast person or even coffee for most my life then I moved right by here and go about 3-4 times a week bc it's so good!

Yelp
Stopped by Hi Hat after our run and it did not disappoint! The iced coffee was robust yet smooth. My latte was creamy and spicy with the perfect touch of sweetness. Also, you get a great bang for your buck! We went on a Saturday morning and it seemed as if everyone in the neighborhood was there. Many were congregating waiting for their drinks, but everyone waited very patiently. The baristas were kind -- despite the never ending line of customers. I can't wait to go back and try some of the other creative lattes and some of the pastries.

Morgan W.

Yelp
Very cute coffee shop on the outskirts of the plaza area. Stopped by mid weekend and the staff was very nice.

Yelp
We've loved this place for many years now. A very cool little place to grab some coffee and incredibly kind and genuine human beings work there.

Yelp
After having driven by this place multiple times when it was closed, I finally made it. The building itself is such a cute little property. It was a sunny warm(er) day, so I also got to hang out a bit outside on an adirondack. The friendly staff greets you the moment you walk in to make you feel comfortable. There are a couple of very small counter spaces inside but this is not a place to dawdle. Their efficiency in getting out the orders was amazing to see. I had my usual espresso, which was good. Nothing outstanding, but it had good crema and the usual requisite slight bitterness at the end. Apparently, I was so desparate for it that I didn't even take a photo. Their chai tea latte with almond milk was the star for me though. It was the slight spiciness (hot spicy) that was a nice surprise. It actually tasted a bit thin on the spices, but the spiciness more than made up for it. I think it would barely register on the scoville scale. Can't wait to taste it again on my next visit! So unique. Thanks folks for making my trip worth it.

Yelp
The coffee drinks are always great, especially the Bee High. Also, the baristas are always so friendly. Love visiting Hi Hat!

Yelp
Coffee was delicious! Loved the coffee options I had to choose from! I've been here multiple times, and I will continue to go back!

Yelp
WHAT A CUTE LITTLE SPOT. We are from LA. Wife and I both got Iced Cortados and I had the cinnamon roll, and all were excellent. Totally great spot for people on the move in and/or out of KC like us. Tons of parking in morning. JAILYN and EMMA were wonderful and had great attitudes, do what you must to keep them there!!
google avatar

Samantha S.

Yelp
I typically judge a coffee shop's quality on their drip brew, and High Hat serves up a mean cup. They have 3 carafes of different brewed coffees light-dark, and brew in small batches so you're sure to get fresh coffee. So, not only is it a destination because of how cute it is, but it's a destination for what they are serving. I'm excited to try the espresso next!

Yelp
Hi Hat is a such great local coffee shop. Adorable store front with relaxed outdoor seating. You will always see groups of people hangout there on the weekends. I love their creative coffee flavors. My favorite frozen drink is the classic blended bee. It has just the right amount of honey for a little bit of sweetness blended with their bold espresso, absolutely delicious and refreshing! Recently, I tried the toasted almond latte. I'm a huge fan of almond flavored treats, and this drink was amazing. I was a little hesitant because almond flavoring can be overpowering sometimes, but this had a great balanced flavor and sweetness.
google avatar

Yelp
Square footage and WiFi are not part of this great little venue's DNA, but a quaint neighborhood with a relaxing patio is just the setting for this place. Normally I grade tough, but Hi Hat is good at exactly what they are there for: coffee. It's not Italian words for sizes or constantly inventing drink flavors to keep your attention, it's well-done artisan coffee drinks in a small space for the right reasons. The prices are reasonable and the product is wonderful, and if you like Adirondack chairs and a quiet patio, then this is your jam. I aim to go back and try the Aztec hot chocolate, but I sampled the dark roast (very good) while my sidekick did the Sandstone, a meld of mocha and coffee and very yum. Great place - glad I made time for it.

Yelp
Best coffee place in KC! Real, good coffee and the workers are always super friendly. The building is also so cute and there's nice patio seating! Can't get coffee anywhere else after trying it from here.
google avatar

Lori R.

Yelp
The ladies were wonderful and took care of our coffee needs. I had an almond milk Carmel latte and my friend had a mocha. We mentioned that he loves mochas and they gave him a ton! A delicious stop!

Dave N.

Yelp
Super cute space and great coffee. Loved Rebecca and her fun and friendly personality!

Yelp
If the shire in JRR Tolkien's "the hobbit" had a coffee shop this would be what it looks like. You might have driven by this several times without realizing it. Don't expect to spend too much time inside. But there is plenty of outdoor seating. If you are not sure what you want the helpful staff will give some great recommendations.

Yelp
This is a little gem of a coffee shop. A tiny coffee establishment over on State Line in Kansas, the baristas make great drinks, have a sweet disposition, and the atmosphere is cozy. Despite very little seating, this place is always hopping! If you have the time, take your drink and stroll down the street and window shop at the establishments right around the corner from HI Hat. Happy caffeinating!

Margaret K.

Yelp
Hi Hat coffee is such a fun and delicious place in KC! It's super unique & the service is always top notch! If you're looking for delicious coffee & a super cute atmosphere definitely stop by!

Yelp
What Hi Hat Coffee lacks in space, they make up for great coffee and friendly baristas. I have always wanted to visit here, but never got around to it. Luckily, everything seemed to align last week when I had lots of free time to explore KC and the weather was exceptional for March! Walking in, I was surprised at how small it was. There is just enough space to stand in line and order. Even with only one barista, she managed to kill the after school coffee rush. On top of this, she still took the time to get to know me and offer me recommendations as well as catching up with all of the regulars. I ended up ordering the bee-hi latte, a favorite of many! The latte was absolutely delicious! I enjoyed the subtle flavors of the cinnamon and honey. Definitely a must try! Other favorites include the spicy mocha which will for sure be my order during my next visit. In all, a wonderful, friendly, and cute coffee shop! Definitely the most friendly and engaging baristas on the planet! A must visit when the weather is warmer or if you are near the area!

Yelp
If you want consistent Java, smiling service and great treats, look no further. I've been coming here for years, beautiful location and warming fluids makes this the perfect pick-me-up spot!
google avatar

Natalie T.

Yelp
Damn, I just really love this place. The vibe is literally everything you want from a neighborhood coffee shop that serves the most delicious blends. And the basics are not at a terrible price (paid about $5.30 for 2 medium iced coffees, a steal in my book!!). The friendliest staff only adds to your experience. Personally believe that Hi Hat deserves top rank in the KC coffee scene!
google avatar

Kelli H.

Yelp
Tiny little gem hidden in Woodside. And tiny is not an understatement. But don't let that deter you! There's just enough room inside to stand in line to order. But there's nice outdoor seating to soak up the sun and drink your coffee with friends or read a good book. And you're usually guaranteed at least a couple dog encounters. I enjoy the coffees both hot and iced. There is a seasonal drink in the summer that's lavender and honey. I have tried a few others and haven't had anything yet that I didn't like.
google avatar

Frances G.

Yelp
Cute, unique, and small. Nice for a local mid day pick me up. Their blended coffee drinks are good--Not too sweet. I wish their smoothies were made with real fruit.
google avatar

Don P.

Yelp
Tiny and unique coffee shop in Westwood. Great blended varieties and the hot staples are brewed perfectly. They have a limited amount of eats that I haven't tried. Ample outside and minimal interior seating. It's a cozy spot. Some of the most engaging baristas that I've ever dealt with. Friendly and knowledgeable. Remember to grab a punch card!

Jamie B.

Yelp
The place is wayyyy smaller than I imagined, maybe only room for 5-6 people (standing very close). However, the coffee is very good. And me being an architecture nut, I thought the place was absolutely adorable aside from it being a bit inconvenient. I would recommend everyone visit this place at least once, it's a fun experience.
google avatar

Rachel C.

Yelp
I love me a delicious coffee. Some days I wonder why drinking water is so tough, but coffee goes down so easy...this place did not help! Adorable!! The building is so stinking cute with a yummy brew too. I stopped on a Tuesday and the outdoor area was packed, yet I still had parking. The barista was, by far, the nicest person I've ever met. We had an actual conversation while she made my drink. I skipped all temptations in the pastry shelves, but can't guarantee I'll be that strong on my next visit. I can't wait to go back to the coffee shop that makes me have a giant Insta-grin!
google avatar

Yelp
Had a great cortado. Fast service and nice staff. Small place but nice outdoor seating

Yelp
Always gotta have a good tasting bean when I drink coffee and this place definitely has just that! Wolf highly recommend to any coffee enthusiast. Friendly staff and unique building. Definitely give it a try if you are in the area. 10/10
google avatar

Katy S.

Yelp
WOW!!! I was drawn in by the picturesque building and I was not disappointed. Parking was way easier then suspected, but make sure not to block anyone in!! When we got there, we were the only people there but it quickly got packed for being such a small place. We got a butter bean latte, nutty Irishman and a cinnamon roll. The drinks were a 10/10 and the roll was probably an 8/10 but wouldn't ever stop me from coming back. Nice people, good coffee, and CUTEST building ever. Literally, ever.
google avatar

Nate F.

Yelp
This charming little coffee shop is the perfect neighborhood spot. Given how small it is, there's really not much to it, but that's what makes this little coffee shop so endearing. The service was good. My iced latte was delicious. The outdoor patio was peaceful. It is definitely the ideal neighborhood coffee shop. I would highly recommend trying again.
google avatar

Jordan K.

Yelp
Awesome little coffee shop just off of State Line! Staff was getting people in and out very quickly (which was necessary due to the size of the shop) but were very friendly and personable. I tried the Sandstorm, which was much sweeter than my typical coffee order, and it wasn't too bad. I would highly recommend taking your coffee and going on a walk in the surrounding neighborhoods! I feel like Hi Hat may be a more seasonal coffee shop due to lack of seating, but I will definitely come back.
google avatar

Abby M.

Yelp
The cutest place!! It's small inside but there is plenty of outdoor seating. Such a unique menu and I can't wait to try something new each time I go! The barista working when I went was named Amanda and she provided such great service and was so sweet! I definitely will be coming back!
google avatar

Elise L.

Yelp
The drinks and service here are top notch, these people know their coffee! Flavors are unique and quality is the best, would highly recommend to anyone looking for a new place to try!
