HI Hostel Grenoble

clean spaces, kind staff and eco-responsible. I met friends, explored Grenoble, and I'm overall thankful that I chose Hi Hostel for my stay.

Staff super nice Dinner was tasty, beer cold and refreshing Parking: for my motorcycle they gave me a room that I could lock. felt good. Surrounding: some sinister neighbors moving around and noisy in the middle of the night. otherwise good location. I recommend it for sturdy travelers, Thanks to the staff: they were really nice.

Rooms: Was in room of 8, bedsheet and bed are clean and spacious. To be improved by allowing to use his own locker for assigned shelf Service: staff super friendly and helpful Communal Kitchen need a little bit more improvements (like a 2nd fridge, a new micro wave) Location: at walking distance of Aldi, Action, Casino, Bakery and few bus lines to downtown and to University. Cost for value: 5/5 Will i return ? : yes !

I really liked this hostel. Solid, welcoming, functional yet comfy. The desk staff were awesome- friendly and helpful. The chambermaid kept everything tidy. Supermarkets and transportation to the town centre close by. Free maps. Breakfast was... very simple. Cereal, fruit, coffee. And I hate to say it, but OMFG the kitchen is an unmitigated health hazard. A film of sticky grease covers everything. Vegetables were left rotting- not just old, but putrefying on the counters, cupboards, and in the fridge. There were contatiners of take-out food and raw meat dated from months prior, and other stuff blanketed in blue/grey mold. Stuff was growing in the coffee pot. I simply don't understand how not one emplyee didn't assess the cleanliness of this kitchen the months since this food was left to rot. (yes, pictures are included). This is really a shame because otherwise I thought this was an excellent hostel. Heck, I'd stay again- but I'm sure not cooking there!

The one stars is too much for this place... The hotel's room was dirty and very cold. The bathroom was also terrible and dirty and some room didn't have hot water.. and toilett paper. and We didn't get towels so we must bought this.The bed is not bed rather a thin nylon mattress placed on the cage. And wifi was just in the recepcion buf it is the smaller problem.. so This place terrible and very expensive!!!!! And the breakfast was swill! I DIDN'T RECOMMEND!

In comparison to other hostels I have stayed in, this is a poor hostel. It is in a decent location, about 30 minutes walk from the city centre, and could be great. However it fails to live up to its potential. Good points: Clean bedding Comfortable mattress Some friendly staff. Hot water in showers Bad points: Generally shabby appearance Reception closed 8pm-8am. Very difficult to find staff out of hours Wasbasin plug mechanisms broken Some washbasin taps broken Window blinds broken Showers grubby Secure bike shed- the key is kept behind reception, but nobody around before 8 am can find key! Self catering kitchen...FILTHY! Largely due to a member of staff leaving half eaten food and rotten fruit everywhere... Self catering kitchen...DISORGANIZED! Same member of staff rude and defensive about anyone who went near his 'private' cupboards. Here's an idea...if they are private, why not put a sign or a lock on them you muppet? Whilst you are at it, why not make other signs with pictures of kitchen utensils/cups/plates? Put those up too, then you won't have to worry about self catering guests doing crazy things like looking for utensils? That way you can carry on talking to yourself, lurking in the bushes behind the hostel, and actually get on with whatever it is you are supposed to be doing! Maybe if you don't have to 'police' the kitchen, you could use this time to wash the t shirt you were wearing for four days! Self catering kitchen...If you want guests to clean this hovel, how about providing dishwashing sponges that are not rancid? Or washing up liquid that hasn't been watered down? Heck...go wild and put some paper roll in the empty dispenser! Anyway... Night porter keeps 'disappearing'...I was told this by hostel staff. Let's hope there is never a fire eh? I get the impression that this hostel is being used as some sort of emergency shelter/housing. I have no problem with this, but it feels like there is a general lack of enthusiasm and pride in the hostel and care for its core customer base. I observed tired backpackers having to wander around looking for staff at 20:30. In the end I showed them to the bar to get help. When guests are having to do basic things like this, It gives the impression of a place that is either very badly managed, on the brink of closure. Poor service...avoid if possible!

We stayed there for 3 nights and had a lot o fun! The rooms are spatious, clean with a private bathroom. Kitchen is vey well equipped breakfast very comlete and the staff is helpful at every moment. Thebest hostel I´ve ever been. Thank you

Good place with common areas. Good breakfast also. The rooms are okay (we were staying in a double), but the light wasn't working in the bathroom when we arrived. They fixed it the next day.
