HI Tavira – Pousada de Juventude

The stay was excellent. We checked out and were able to leave our bags there for several extra hours free of charge. When we returned after a very hot day the receptionist welcomed us in and allowed us to relax in the hostel common areas until we needed to leave despite checking out hours earlier. I would highly recommend and is in a great location.

The location of the hostel is perfect and the price is affordable. The restrooms and bathrooms are not clean and should be renovated. Only one shower for 8 people. There is no equipment for each bed (nightstand, outlet electrical). Some layout should be done.

This hostel was great! The 4 bed female dorm was clean and tidy, with wardrobes, a table and chairs. The bathroom was big and spotless. Very spacious and quiet place with everything you need. Great location and friendly staff. Definitely recommend it!

The day of my check out the lady in the reception was very rude with me when I came back to take my luggage. She was angry coz I used the shower. Tavira is beach destination and the main activity is to go to the island tour and if they don’t allow to have quick shower (which is not inside but outside of the room) it’s hard for travellers to stay there. Coz later on I supposed to take my 5 hours train to Lisbon with wet bikini. Anyway during my check-in no one informed me that I am not allowed to have shower and I didn’t expect it but she was so rude talking to me as I did something criminal saying “what I am doing in this hostel” , “ if I stay there” and etc. Also the check-in time is very late (only at 18.00)

Lovely staff, especially the evening shift girl was very helpful and hilarious. She helped with bus times as well as language lessons. We laughed so much while trying Portuguese words and pronounciation. 😄 This is a simple, but clean an well-run hostel. Perfect location. Bed and room OK, but i missed a power outlet near the bed and also a small bedside table would be nice. Quite allright for the price! The shower and toilet for our room was located in a seperate room shared with the nearest neighbor. Would definately stay again with friends and travelling solo, but maybe not for a romantic getaway. 🤭 There were room numbers on the toilets and showers, so you have your own. Sadly the shower curtain rod fell down as i pulled the curtain. It was a bit tricky putting it back up.

As a female solo traveller, I had no problems staying here. I’ve read the other reviews, but honestly the location is great. So close to everything. The staff were brilliant and the bed was comfortable. It’s nothing totally beautiful but for the price and with a breakfast included I thought it’s a good deal. I would recommend.

Free breakfast, pretty average breakfast but good coffee. Showers are good though not always clean. In the town centre.

I had a very uncomfortable experience at Hi Tavira Hostel and would not recommend it, especially for solo female travelers. I arrived feeling uneasy due to the recent bad reviews, and unfortunately, they were accurate. Upon entering the hostel, I was immediately put off by the atmosphere. The common areas were dirty, with beds and sofas that didn’t seem clean. There were older people staying in the hostel, which gave off an odd vibe that didn’t feel welcoming or safe. When I got to my room, there was an older woman already sleeping at 7 PM. She seemed strange, and the situation made me feel unsafe. I quickly decided to leave and find different accommodations. This place is not suited for young or solo travelers looking for a comfortable and secure environment. I strongly recommend booking elsewhere if you want to enjoy your vacation.
