The location is great. This is the best place to be just a step away from the beach. One of the most clean hostels that I stayed in Canada. There are only two problems in this hostel. 1- Beds are making too much noise. During the night it is like a small orchestra playing around. You should use your ear buds. 2- Internet speed is trash. It is like from 2000. I need to go and spend some time - drink my coffee until a 50 MB file is uploaded. Download speed? Not that much different. Even my mobile network doesn't work well in this place.

My first experience in a hostel was here, and I found it to be a very professional hostel, especially suited for travelers and those looking to meet new people. It exceeded my expectations as a hostel, with a great location, attractive and friendly environment, and good security. I really enjoyed it, especially the daily programs and activities.

Location - Picture perfect scenery and a quiet area. 5 min walk to the beach. Around a 9 min walk to the bus stop then a 5 mins on bus or a 20-30 min walk to Jericho Village. No close food options :( (possible a Cafe will be attached to the hostel in future) Accommodation - Stayed in the 14 bed room and it was really nice. Recently furnished, the beds were split up by walls. 4 bed per boofs with powerpoints for each bed and plenty of space and lockers. Bathrooms are super clean and modern! Small showers but very clean. Big kitchen and nice living areas but not anything to brag about :) Overall great place!!! Highly recommend that more photos are added 👌

Amazing staff and place to stay. Easy bus trip to downtown, super close to beach. Staff was super helpful and responsive to emails. It's a bit rustic but super charming.

Had a great stay here! The staff are super friendly and I had so much fun going on some of the activities they offer. Amazing location by the beach, can’t ask for anything else!

Worst Hostel experience I've had to date. First the booking started off on the wrong foot with being informed by the receptionist that our room was being downgraded, he then proceeded to overcharge us from the agreed price from our booking confirmation with hostel world and would not acknowledge the fact we had already paid a booking deposit. When I mentioned he should honor the hostel world price he became defensive and slightly aggressive. Then when I went to have a shower I was disgusted with the mold build up and public hair. They looked as if they haven't been cleaned in weeks/months. To top it all off as we were leaving a crew of pest control had just arrived. The staff were unpleasant, the place was filthy and smelt terrible. For the price they charge I would not recommend to anyone to stay here.

Google
Absolutely surprised how good of a hostel this is compared to the other ones, even the guests are respectful and very clean Everything is good, just wish there was some ac in the rooms

Yelp
check in quick was and easy, then I went out back and gave $5 to someone and then a guy named Steve made me a hamburger. I wanted to touch his large beard but he said no Private room we had was cozy, other guests were quiet and respectful so we had no problem going to sleep and staying to sleep Good beach access to we loved walking around the area

Yelp
Loved it. Nice semi private setup for a 14 bunk dorm: using curtains and half walls to make it more like 4 bunk rooms. Lots of outlets, two for me on the top bunk, 2 for my traveling partner on the bottom bunk. My bunk came with an individual reading light I could use. The location is beautiful, away from the city, but right along the water. The resteraunt/bar right outside is so lovely during the summer and the food is delicious. Hosts were super helpful and kind. This was my first hostel experience and I was quite pleased

Yelp
Way better than I expected. It was clean, other guests wee very respectful and quiet, front door staff friendly and helpful. We stayed in the private bunk room. It did get warm at the beginning of the night but cooled down later (no ac). If it did get a little hotter I might not have been able to stay here mid July. Outside temp at night read 15-17c but it was definitely warm to hot in the rooms. Don't expect too much you get what you pay for. This is definitely a step above a motel. Like others have said wifi is better in the common areas but we had pretty good reception in our room. Compared to other nightly rates around Vancouver this hostel was cheaper by $50-$80 per night. You also get free parking 11-11 and no worries about theft as you are in a safe area. The drive in to van was about 15-20min and if you live in any other "big city" that is not far. Kitsilano also had some of our favourite restaurants.

Yelp
I stayed a total of 12 nights here, divided into two stays. The staff are all friendly, they all do their jobs well, they're on hand 24/7 to help you with anything they can & Taylor is a super chill dude who was a pleasure to deal with every time I spoke with him. They have nightly events to help you meet other hostel guests. They do an awesome pub crawl every Saturday that takes you through beautiful Kitsilano and further enhances the opportunity to meet fellow travellers. On the pub crawl I learnt a bit about Quebec, the UK and that I love slushees more than most people. Anyhow, back to business. It's cleanliness is good, the bed arrangements are set up well for the most part with easy access to outlets to charge your electronic devices. It's been recommended as the best Hostel in Vancouver. It might be a ways from the big things to do, but it's a short walk to the bus stop and right off the beautiful Jerhico beach which presents you with a stunning view of the downtown skyline and coastal mountains. There's a kitchen you can access 24/7, laundry that is mostly available unless housekeeping is using it in their scheduled time. There's also a super nice cafe downstairs that all proceeds go directly to encouraging culinary arts in the community and helps people who wouldn't be able to go to culinary school otherwise. They have awesome happy hour prices as well, best in town. Just remember that unless you get a private room, you're sleeping in basically an open dorm. You will have people who snore around you and other activity going on in the sleeping areas. Be respectful and mindful and most guests are really good to deal with.

Yelp
Great hostel to stay at considering the price! Only 30$ a night and that's during the busy season. Book online at hostelbookers for better prices and reviews. Book ahead though just to be safe! it's located right near Jericho beach where the view.

Yelp
I stayed here for one week and had a great experience for a fantastic price. The location is a historical building, so you have to be prepared to understand the limitations of such a facility. It was incredibly clean and the desk staff were super kind and helpful, even if they weren't overly familiar with the area. They have full-sized locker spaces for each person, WiFi is available in the lounges, they have an incredible kitchen & walk-in refrigerator with space for everone, & locking bike storage. Unlike most hostels, they do not offer breakfast or coffee/tea in the mornings. I think that is one thing that would make this hostel perfect.

Yelp
2 of my friends and I got to pay 138$ (canadian, around 110 U.S.) for a single night in a mixed dorm, the bathrooms were nasty (smelled horrible, dirt and people's towels left everywhere) and half of the stalls were "out of order", which leads to the kitchen with a 1/3 of the stove tops being functional, and the sink being unable to turn off all the way. We go into the dorms, and one of the bunks have a comforter/linens while the others had a single sheet (maybe they forgot?). The best part was that this was described as a "remote location in a natural setting" yet there is a Digital Arts college 10 minutes away and a communal turf field (for local soccer teams, etc) across the street....In all, we stayed for less than 12 hours, spent more money than any other hostel we've been in so far, and it was pretty dismal after driving cross country all day. We didn't have very high expectations going in, and still managed to be overwhelmingly disappointed. Just do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to stay.

Yelp
Great little hostel minutes away from the beach. This is NOT the place to stay if you want to be in the middle of the city... it's a good 10 minute walk to even get to a bus station. But, it's right in the middle of a beautiful beachside park. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They were able to find shampoo, a bike helmet, a lock, and an iron for me without any difficulty. I stayed in the male dorm. It's separated into blocks of four beds, so there is a bit more privacy. The lockers are very big which was helpful for me since I had a big backpacking backpack. The only complaint I have is that there are not enough working electrical outlets. Several of the outlets in the male dorm weren't working and there simply weren't enough.

Yelp
Clean and quiet hostel with lots of room. We had a private room which was furnished with a small table/desk and chair and a bunk bed with a double for the bottom bed. There was room for 3 people. The bathrooms were kept clean and the shower facilities adequate. The women's bathroom, on the one side I used, had 5 showers. There was a second bathroom that I never needed to venture to. The men's only had 2 showers and a timelimit on the length of the showers you could take. There is a large kitchen facility in the basement. There were many seating areas to socialize, if you're so inclined, with the other travelers. There are computers on the first level next to the reception desk. The hostel did offer wifi, however since the building is all concrete it was spotty at best. It is an old converted military barracks. I enjoyed it. The front door was locked to get in, but the front desk is staffed 24 hours so there is no fear of getting locked out. You just need to get their attention to let you in, but for the most part they could tell if someone was trying to come in. There is a cafe, licensed, on the lowest level. Great food at very reasonable prices. $5.00 all day breakfast.

Yelp
I love this hostel. It's clean, the staff is really helpful and friendly, and the facilities are excellent. Free wifi throughout the hostel. The beds are not pressed up against each other- there is at least 10 feet between my bunk and the nearest one. The location is a little far from downtown Vancouver but public transportation is reliable and convenient. I love that less than five minutes away from the front door is kayaking, beach volleyball, beautiful views, running trails, and tennis. Food and yoga are a ten minute walk. My only complaint is that all the TVs are tuned to hockey, but this is Canada, eh?

Yelp
The restaurant attached to this hostel is awesome. I`ve only had brunch here (more times than I care to admit). The food is prepared by culinary students, so it is not always consistent, but it is always really good. The portions are big, the prices are reasonable and the staff are incredibly sweet. What more could you ask for after spending the morning working up an appetite on the water...

Yelp
Lovely HI Hostel location, just (walking) minutes from Jericho Beach, Locarno Beach and Spanish Banks, along with their amazing view of downtown Vancouver! Although far from the downtown core, as opposed to the location on Granville St, it's still accessible by transit by taking a bus from the subway stations of the Canada Line. In the heart of Kitsilano, a hipster and homey feeling neighborhood with multiple pedestrian streets and bike-friendly drivers. Much quiet, clean and less busy than other hostel locations in Vancouver, a bed in a single-sex dormitory runs for around $30 a night during high season, which is a bargain in this city. Great location if traveling in group, since there is plenty of different lodging options, including private rooms. Don't forget to get the HI Hostel membership for a 15% discount!

Yelp
I stay in hostels because I don't feel like paying crazy amounts of money for somewhere where I'm going to sleep and shower. This place let me sleep, kinda, and showered me. I stayed in the 14 shared girls dorm, which is fine, just really loud girls there, but that's completely out of the hostels control. The only odd thing was where you had an outlet by the bed, phone charging presumed, there was a giant bench that was immovable, so I couldn't charge my phone at all. But meh, for the price I'd come back.

Yelp
The HI chain of hostels is usually a good bet, and this is no exception. The Location: This hostel is located out near UBC, kinda far from the downtown scene, but easily accessible by bus #4. This Hostel is right on Jericho Beach, with free tennis courts, baseball fields located right out the front door. (rent rackets for free with ID card through HI front desk). Also, there are kayak, canoe, windsurfing rentals right on the beach if you're so inclined. Tons and Tons of free blackberry piking are right out the front door as well. 4th st. has loads of great shops, thrift stores, and restaurants to visit. This hostel has a much more laid-back outdoorsy, beachy vibe going than the two downtown locations. The Facilities: Here I Stayed in a 14-16 bed female dorm, this was basically just a huge room with a ton of bunk beds. Bathrooms are down the hall and are gym style, not private. Flip Flops are a MUST in the showers as they are very moldy and slimy. No free breakfast here, just a huge kitchen with tons of cookware and stove/counter tops. No ovens though! If you're looking for a relaxed, quiet, beachy, hiking, boating time in Vancouver instead of the bar scene, then this is the place to stay!

Yelp
Can I use the term suck? Ok,let me tell you my experience. Waited a century to check in (only one staff is there and I don't know why checking in can be that slow! 5 mins per person ,! The line was maters long !) Then the staff asked me wether I can stay in a mix dorm( r u kidding me? I booked a bunk in a female room online!) Finally I went into a female dorm(thank god) and there is someone else using the bed should have been mine(what the ...) I returned to the lobby....ok....the line was longer now . Another century past.... I was still in line..... I couldn't stand that anymore,I went back to the dorm and a girl told me almost everyone here had this kind of experience...and they helped me find a bed empty in that dorm.... Then...( yes! There is a then!) I tried to charge my phone but was told there is only two plugs in that dorm can be used( this is a 16 girls dorm!!!) What the ..... I prefer to die rather than stay here

Yelp
Computer glitch city. "We're full sorry"..."oh sorry we have 12 beds available." Welcome to HI hostels. Cool place but could use some cleaning/sanitizing. Movie room is a bit musty. Why don't they have more social things like taking advantage of beach and park right nearby. There weren't even options on like Canada Day-one of their most celebrated days of the year!!

Ciara C.

Yelp
We stayed here for two nights in an 18 person mixed dorm. The room was very dirty. They also offered us a locker which was huge but also disgusting. I couldn't sleep because the bed was uncomfortable. I was also worried about bugs and whatnot. I took a shower and the water pressure was okay but the temperature would drop when someone flushed a toilet. As far as location, you'd be better off staying in central or downtown. Only reason this is getting a two is for the lovely and helpful staff.
