My husband and I, we spent 2 beautiful nights in the place. Joel is very nice guy! We were so lucky, the first night we were the only persons in the hostal so it was very pleasant. I loved the view!!! The kitchen, u can find everything what u need, my only advice is to stop in lake Louise and buy enough food for the days that you will stay over there. The kitchen has oil, salt, pepper and we donated our sugar 🙂. The rest u need to bring it. I loved the experience, it was our first time in a hostal and I fully recommended if you want to disconnect and enjoy the nature.

A cabin in the woods!|Wilderness but not quite wilderness hostel. Had a very nice experience here. The host Joal is very quiet and a very nice guy! He drove me to Lake Emerald so I could hike from there.|The matresses are just made of styrofoam but much more comfortable than you would think!|Shower is warm but the pressure is horrible, but what would you expect from this place in the middle of nowhere.|The views from the porch are incredible, especially with the roaring of Takakkaw Falls.|Kitchen works good. Cooked some nice meals here after a full day of hiking :). The iceline trail is right outside the door.||Also, a campfire every night under breathtaking starry night skies calls for great evenings!

Had a chance to stay just prior to season close. Location is spectacular no question. This is one of the more rustic hostels, but they do have power, running water and indoor plumbing so they have some of the other beat in that aspect. Kitchen equipped with fridges and reasonably well suited as a rustic hostel. Stayed in the dorm closest to the kitchen, unfortunately walls are very thin so very nosily-although cannot blame anyone for being happy about being here and just wanting to show it. So if I had to say the only real negative - the bathrooms really do need to be kept much cleaner. A little more elbow grease and some strong cleaners to sanitize. Better to be safe and keep the germ count to minimum. Did not use the kitchen decided to eat in Field so cannot speak to kitchen cleanliness. But ideally the kitchen is maintained with appropriate clean towels-bleach-dish soap-dish cloths and dishes are cleaned properly. Nobody wants to pick up GI issues and ruin your stay at this location. They have it going on though for sure at this location and no doubt is a very busy one during prime season. Just a little more effort in to cleaning though folks and you will have it made.

My friend and I had the best time at this hostel. There were no other reservations, so we got a really personable experience. Joel, the manager was truly an amazing guy. He answered all our questions with lots of thought and patience. He even invited us to a morning hike, which turned out to be the most scenic one on our trip. Really good conversations, great service and you can't beat the hostel view!

It’s a wilderness hostel so come with no expectation. It was an experience, a good one but my wife won’t do it again (I think it was OK). The manager is really nice and made the check in really quick and gave as a small tour at the facilities (It’s only 1 cabin). The kitchen well equipped had had lots of storage places and some fridges so you won’t find yourself struggling where to put your food.||the room was small with bunkbeds of 3. Restrooms and showers are located at a small room beside the main room. The running water is not as it sounds, the shower has no water pressure and it was really challenging, opening the door is a beat tricky as well. Overall experience was good for me, but my wife won’t do that again.

The view of the falls from the porch is incredible and the hostel now features LED lighting, a toaster and a coffee pot as well as MANY plug ins courtesy of the brand new micro-hydro install! There is also wifi for a while each night from a satellite internet connection. There are also showers! Pretty incredible for a place so remote and only open for 3 months. Very clean, well organized and located right next door to the start of the Iceline trail. Tekkakaw Falls are a 10 minute stroll. We had a great mix of local and international visitors allowing for a great conversation!

It was my first time staying in a hostel and that too in the middle of nowhere. It was a nice experience and as we got the whole place for ourselves. Alan was a great host and a super nice person. Everything was very clean and tidy. Had no issues with running water, gas and hydro. Great place to stay when on a wilderness trip.

We stayed at HI Yoho for 2 nights. The location is fantastic for Takakkaw Falls and hiking the iceline trail. Beds were comfortable and the showers/flushing toilet a luxury for a wilderness hostel (even though the shower didn’t work too well one of the nights). Bring your own food as there is a fridge and good cooking facilities and nothing close by to buy from. Would recommend for a short stay.
