Overpriced motel in Byron Bay. Bathroom was in very bad shape and there were lot of ants and they did not even bother to apply some insect spray. When I complained to reception , responded saying it’s because of wet weather. Pathetic experience after paying premium money for stay. Worst part is nobody available after 7 pm to address this kind of issue so incase of emergency you rely on so called security service which is chargeable service as on call. Do not waste your money, go find better place to stay.

Nice and cozy little motel with available parking on site. It’s a bit dated but clean and tidy. The downsides, the bed did not have a comfortable mattress and pillows. The doors and windows are incredibly thin, offering little soundproofing. Early in the morning, the neighbors moving out parked their car just 25cm from the door, making it impossible not to hear every conversation and the noise of them loading their belongings.

Do not stay here!! The Motel is very unprofessional and they took every opportunity to steal our money on our unused portion of our stay with them. We booked for 3 nights March 21st- 24th. Prior our arrival I had messaged them about a week in advance asking if they could change our dates to the 20th - 23rd and that we would be arriving very late in the evening. I received no reply to my message. (I do not have a record of my message to them. However I would really like to see the message because I am almost certain I asked for a change of dates). So when we arrived on the 20th 10pm, we had to stay at another place which was really lovely and their front desk went above and beyond to accommodate us. It was a much better sleep than the Hibiscus Motel. ||||The next morning I finally received a message from Hibiscus about arrangements of our late arrival but there was no mention about the change of dates!! When we checked on Friday March 21st I informed them we would be checking out 1 day early in Sunday March 23rd and that our dates were changed. That is 48 hours in advance notice. They said I could let them know on Sunday when I check out. When we checked out on Sunday, they said they would NOT REFUND ME the unused portion of our stay UNLESS THEY CAN REBOOK OUR ROOM. It says NOWHERE in our booking confirmation of this. ||||Bromway who was at the front desk of Waves, which is partnership with Hibiscus, was not accommodating and quite smug. I told her I have text messages with +61 404 766 691 showing I messaged on Friday saying we were checking out early. I was not feeling well and actually had to cancel other plans too. I messaged Booking.com as well letting them know we would be leaving 1 day sooner. ||||When booking a place to stay while away from home, we look for accommodations that will help us feeling comfortable, welcome, and at ease from our long travels, especially since we traveled from around the globe from one hemisphere to another. We have stayed in places all around the world and we have never been encountered with this. Booking.com messaged me and said themselves that they would have been happily been accommodating with our change of dates, but Hibiscus Motel refused stating if only they could rebook our room. AGAIN, it says NOWHERE in our confirmation booking that we are held to their ability to rebook the room. And out of consideration, I gave them 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE of our changes. And STILL NO REFUND.||||FYI: The Hibiscus Motel does not have an office. You have to use The Waves reception desk. And Bromway, who was there on Sunday March 23rd when checking out was extremely cold and curt, and clearly not accommodating. STAY AWAY FROM THIS MOTEL. Unprofessional. Unpleasant. Inconvenient. Thieves!!

Horrible rooms, they looked nothing like they did in the brochure when we booked it. 1 aircon and only 3 fans, beds are stiff and the curtains are moldy and there is some sort of black foam on the windows so i get NO light in my room. bathroom was locked upon arrival and the whole room smelt horrible almost moldy as we walked in. do not recommend

First of all, didnt expect a lot from this motel but it turned out alright. The price is at 200$/night which is a little much for a motel but I guess most of Byron is overpriced generally. The room is spacious enough, nice location. Walking distance to beach and town centre. The bathroom has only one side of glass which means my husband absolutely flooded the place and had to use a towel to dry off the floor. We didnt get a daily housekeeping so was left with only one towel to use for the next day.||||The other annoying thing is checking into another hotel which I didnt know about. No one reminded or emailed me about it. Lucky I was reading thru the reviews in here so I knew. When we got there, their big sign outside also says "check in at waves hotel" which is around the corner. Parking is free as per most of motels.||||Other than that, the room in itself is okay.

A very basic experience but perfect for what we needed. Given we weren't planning on using the room apart from for sleeping and a base it was good. Plus has everything you could need including toiletries, fridge, iron, kitchen sink & microwave. Most importantly of all it was right in the middle of Byron bay & a short walk to the beach. Great value for money if you need a base/bed in central Byron.

Whilst driving down to the Hibiscus Motel, I realised that we we’re not going to be at the motel in time for checking and that on the Expedia website it stated that you needed to give them 24 hours notice if you were going to arrive later than 5pm.||||I emailed the motel and explained that we were going to be late and asked if we could make alternative arrangements to check in.||||I received an email back in no time, asking if I could call the hotel as my credit card had been declined. I called the hotel and was advised that these things happen and provided my credit card details over the phone. I hadn’t realised that I had had a replacement card. ||||I was told where I could pick the key up from and everything was looking good. Just as we arrived at the motel, I check my email again to find that my card had yet again been declined and I was fully aware that reception had closed.||||I tried the combination for the safe and thankfully the keys to our room were in there, with a note asking if I could attend reception the next morning. ||||The room, was a good size and whilst it might not have been the most luxurious in Australia, it was everything we needed for a couple of nights. The bed was really comfortable which provided a good nights sleep. ||||The next morning I went to reception and was instantly put at easy by the staff. (This was the first time my card has been declined) We went through the check in procedure, attempted to pay for the room, where I received a text from the bank asking me to authorise the payment, this then went through.||||The staff could not have been any nicer or more understanding.
