"Surelythe world’s only museum to showcase the phalluses of an entire nation's mammalian wildlife, Iceland’s Phallological Museum is somewhat unique. Despite its obvious quirk factor, the museum is actually an interesting and—for the most part—fairly serious establishment. It offers guests the chance to inspect almost 300 penises (including parts of penises) that together represent pretty much all the land and sea mammals to be found throughout the country. A quarter belong to various types of whales, but there are also samples from polar bears and seals, as well as a letter from a local human pledging his own personal specimen posthumously. There are also elf penises, though you’ll need special psychic powers to see them."

I realized how much more important this museum was when I decided to make it a tourist destination. I really appreciate it, and I learned a ton about the Phallological world! It’s definitely a must-see in Iceland! The food was amazing, and the wine was delicious too. .

Personally, unsettling. WEIRD. They do a poor job of marketing outside of Iceland because I thought this would be a fun, irreverent experience of adult-themed statues and photos... But these are actual jarred SPECIMENS! I don't know what creeps me out most, having to stare at all these gigantic or oddly shaped 'members' or that some person decided to cut the sex organs of various animals off to collect them! They should really have a plaque or something explaining that this is an anatomical museum, not a funny exhibit. I think most people come with the expectation that it's something fun to do. I could see biology or science students really be fascinated in this. I decided to at least try to enjoy it. The most entertaining part was the video! (DO watch it in full--but turn away at one extremely graphic part!). It explains the attempts of the curator to get the first human specimen...and the man who volunteered. I laughed so hard at the absurdity! The plaques, while informative, just give basic statistical data. It was disturbed by the mating habits of some of the species. One actually confused me (How does an animal "receive consent" for mating, as the plaque states?). The most fascinating specimens were due to size (enormous or barely visible) and shape (some were twisted like a spiral staircase and pointy at the end!). I love that they have free lockers for those of us with heavy valuables outside of our purses. I was able to stash away my large camera, backpack and groceries. Think I spent an hour here. No student discounts. Expensive entry at nearly 30USD. I can't say it's worth it--depends on your fascination with animals and biology and your morbid curiosity. For me, no. -1 for the snarky reply. Reviews are subjective. No need to be condescending, or even reply to every review.

It was definitely fun and unique experience. I would recommend to stop by and explore this museum while in Iceland. There is a lot of information to read about the museum and basic ideas on which it was created. Lots of animals genitalia to see up close. Some interesting facts as well. They have nice gift shop with a lot of souvenirs. You can easily spend there 2 hours just reading facts and walking around.

Very interesting museum! Figured I would stop here while roaming the streets and it did pass time. Vet informative about the phallus of most creatures even the tiny ones. I was surprised there was whale phallus' there to view! The horse though... very interesting. All of it was good to learn about while touring the area. I'd recommend it to my friends.

Not what I expected. A very well created museum of all creatures great and small from shrew to whale and description of not only their privates but also of their diet, mating "rituals" and location. Also impressed by the drawings of each animal-- tastefully done and made the museum very cohesive. Most of the specimens are preserved and overall I was impressed by the overall look and feel of the place. Cute cafe as well.

A truly unique and fascinating museum! The Icelandic Phallological Museum offers an unusual yet educational experience. There is an entry fee, and to access the museum, café, and souvenir shop, you’ll need to walk down a flight of stairs. The collection is extensive and well-displayed, and the overall visit is both quirky and informative. Definitely a memorable stop if you're curious and open-minded!

It was quirky, educational, and surprisingly fascinating. The Icelandic Phallological Museum in Reykjavík is unlike any other. With specimens from whales to mice, it offers a unique look at anatomy, evolution, and culture. The exhibits are tastefully presented, blending science, folklore, and a touch of humor. It's weird in the best way—fun, respectful, and definitely memorable. A must-see for the curious traveler!

Well, let's keep this one close to our vest. We had to see this one of kind museum. Truly educational across species from bats to elephants to whales. Nothing really sordid, but probably best over 18. A nice if expensive bar.
