What a homey little place that Shingo and Madoka have here in Takayama. We found out that Shingo originally was in Canada working in Banff, not far from where we come from! What a cool connection. ||The facilities are what you would expect of a guesthouse/hostel. We were in a six person mixed dorm. Clean sheets, immaculate bathroom facilities, safe and quiet neighbourhood (love hearing the birds chirp in the mornings)... what more could you ask for? Just a five minute walk from the train station.. makes it a convenient place to stay at. It is also not far from the main drag and old town. Shingo did a great job orientating us and providing us with the basic maps and guidance. For a $30/night stay, I've got nothing to complain about. ||For those who have mobility issues, I wouldn't recommend this place as it has some steep stairs to go up to the bedrooms. As well, as with most hostels here in Japan, the beds are a bit hard but manageable from my perspective. 😉
