Our stay at this hotel got off on the wrong foot when they called us as we were already en route at midday on the day of our arrival to inform us that the adjoining rooms we had booked were no longer available because the occupants had decided to stay over an extra day.||The hotel offered us another pair of rooms that were not interconnected (we had made a point of choosing interconnecting rooms because we have small children), or, if, we were not satisfied with this alternative, to cancel the reservation. We pointed out that this last minute information presented us with no real choice but to accept the alternative that was proposed. It should be noted that the replacement rooms, which unlike the rooms we had reserved, lacked a balcony, were on a higher floor without an elevator, had a tiny, high-placed window with practically no view and were offered at the same price as the rooms we had reserved. The hotel offered no reduction and no gesture of any kind for this sudden substitution. Nor did they apologize, nor did they otherwise seem to comprehend that offering us the possibility of cancellation while we were already en route to the hotel did not amount to an acceptable choice. They insisted on telling us that the people that had stayed over in the rooms that we had reserved were the "right sort of people" ("des gens tout à fait recommendables"), as though this was a justification or consolation...||||On a more general note, the rooms and the bathroom were clean.||The shower was quite nice. (type rain shower) ||No tv in the room though, ||and the wifi didn't work outside of reception areas and the restaurant. ||One other thing that we didn't appreciate much was that there was only one key for locking both rooms..? ||(the rooms were located on one floor with a separate bathroom & an anti chamber / hallway, which was accessible from the staircase, and||which couldn't be locked.||||The breakfast (overpriced, but decent) was served in the attached restaurant, which, in order to access, one needed to go outside of the hotel to enter. Dinner at the restaurant was average, but again overpriced for what it was (undistinguished café fare).||||There was no front desk service to speak off.||Overall the hotel feels more like a B&B, though charges full hotel rates. ||It is definitely overpriced for what it is.
