Great spot and true to its name…hidden! Park at the Overlook Parking lot (Not the parking lot off Hidden falls road like we did at first!) Easy paved walk to top of falls and view the mural. 110+ steps to trail to bottom of falls. Free parking.

I went there after a good downpour, the falls were flowing, lots of frogs too, had the place to myself!

Since moving to Saint Paul in July of 2021, the Hidden Falls have been quite elusive to this new, but highly curious resident. First, the Blvd was closed to a certain point from both sides of the invisible “hidden falls”. Attempting from the south, I asked numerous locals where this hidden treasure would be and was informed “somewhere about 1/2 mile up that way”. You must be aware that my sidekick and fellow adventurer has very short because he’s an English Bulldog. And in case you forgot, although Minnesota is supposed to be much cooler than my home State of Oklahoma, Chief and I were welcomed by the hottest summer in many years. Chief doesn’t care for the heat especially when his stubby legs are taking 20 steps to my one. So the idea of 1/2 mile simply wasn’t happening. So we try again from the north end of the blocked road. We had taken the stairway down to the bare several times and noticed a fenced off area, but never thought twice about it or if that fence was keeping Chief and I at bay from the falls. Alas, the fence was removed a month or more ago and long story short, the Hidden Falls we’re not hidden, but covered by tarps from the construction crew working on the Ford property I guess to protect them. But, the fence is down, the tarps are gone and the once Hidden Falls is no longer hidden. The falls are beautiful, but the rock work done all along the stream, stairway down to them and throughout the area is mind boggling. The sheer amount of work that had to have take. Place I believe in the 40s or so is beyond anything we can comprehend today because our forefathers did this by hand. Do please check out the falls, but in route to them, look side to side and image taking part in constructing this area nearly 100 years ago for us to enjoy today.

Right now, a huge tree has fallen across the top part of the falls, so there is no clear view of the top falls, which are just ok. Some maintenance needed! Above that, there is construction and graffiti. I gave it 3 stars for the picnic area and the clean bathroom.

Beautiful rock work of the sewers and how they made them into Falls. Nice paved and wide walking trails for people and dogs.

This park is a gem! The trails are maintained well, and it feels so secluded. A perfect spot for a picnic on the shores of the river!

I always love coming to see Hidden Falls and walk amongst the wooded trails or sit and relax on the beach by the Mississippi River. This park is a true gem and we are so lucky to be able to enjoy such beautiful scenery right here in the Twin Cities! Please help keep this park clean and pick up trash if you find any laying around.
