We stopped here after a visit to the Metro Richmond Zoo (just down the road) and were really pleased with the visit. It's more of a restaurant than a brewery tasting room, but we did try plenty of the beers and craft cocktails. We also really enjoyed the pretzel sticks with beer cheese, the Nashville chicken sandwich, the cuban, and a burger. They do have a kids menu as well. The server was great and drinks and food were quick. They have a beautiful covered patio seating and outside bar and large lawn area. Would definitely stop again when out on this end of town.

Hidden Wit is a hidden gem, tucked away from the craziness. The food was excellent my burger one of the best I have ever had. The service was great. Love the atmosphere very family oriented I think. They have inside and outside seating. Outside they have corn hole to play. A place for music. Next time we go we will sit outside, a little to hot right now. Definitely a place to goto. We will be back!

Loved everything about our experience: food, atmosphere, service! The sliders appetizer was delicious, and so was my fish and chips, just wish the portion was a bit bigger. The Hidden Wit sauce (I think that's the name) was so goood. Great beer selection, the signature Hidden Wit was very good, and so was the Strawberry Blonde. Highly recommend!

I had a very Pleasant time here they had a band Called The Rise. I enjoyed their live music. There’s a huge area you can put your chairs or blankets on in front of the stage. You can eat inside or outside. It’s Pet and kid friendly. Also handicap friendly It’s a good place for the family, I highly recommend it. I had a kids hotdog it was all beef & a bag of chips for $8. The food is more on the costly side. Outside you can get beer on tap, canned beer or wine 🍷 . Liquor is at the bar inside.

**Update** we went again for our anniversary, and it was quite a different experience. I made a reservation for an outside table because it's always very loud inside. When we got there, they said they had a large party and saved an indoor table for us instead. I was clearly unhappy, so they squeezed a table in between others outside. They were out of water carafes, so we got a single small plastic cup of water. Then they ran out of ice. For my meal, I asked for the fries to be garlic parmesan fries since this was on the menu for another meal. Apparently this is impossible to accommodate (even when agreeing to an up charge). When we got our dessert to share, it came with one spoon, I asked for a second spoon... Out of spoons. I asked for a fork instead, all that was left was a plastic fork. It was a mess. I don't think I'll go back for my next anniversary. Everything we ordered was perfectly cooked and tasted amazing! The crab cakes were probably the best I've ever had. The atmosphere was also great.

Google
We just moved to the area and found Hidden Wit Brewing while searching for local spots—there aren’t many nearby, but we’re so glad we found this one! The beer is great, the food is tasty, and the service is consistently friendly. Even my other half, who’s not a beer drinker, always finds something he enjoys thanks to their variety of options. We love the atmosphere and look forward to supporting this place for a long time!

Google
We visited Hidden Wit Brewery for the first time last weekend, and was had a great day! Three families joined, all with younger children, and this was the perfect venue. The hostesses and staff were very accommodating finding a table for our large group and catering to the small children. The kids ran around and played football and soccer on the large turf field they have in the back. The adults all got flights of beer and ordered lunch. The pork rinds were amazing! The building is brand new, so everything is extremely clean and the facilities are perfect for bringing a family. We will certainly come back!

Google
We really liked this place, the server was good and the families with the kids made it a fun place. But here’s the kicker. I don’t mind paying a lot for a meal, but $24 for two, I’m not kidding cod sticks that were the size of a Ball Park hot dog really pissed me off AND they were really good. The dill tarter was so good. I didn’t complain, the server was such a sweet kid. My wife’s wing’s were just fine. I didn’t leave hungry because I got a Caesar salad to share with my wife. I’m not a huge eater, but come on and if you are the owner a fair price for my meal would have been about 14 dollars. That plate of food was a rip off. We live near Colonial Beach and drove a hundred miles to experience and support this business. We also don’t drink . Cracker Barrel Friday fish, gives you far more protein and excellent value. Sorry folks we won’t be back, but we wish you luck.

Yelp
Been here several times. Food is always fresh and flavorful and menu stays up to date. Big fan of their salads, and cod is great too. Beers are approachable and lots of other local choices for wine and liquor.

Yelp
If you're not stopping at Hidden Wit Brewing Co., you're doing life wrong. This place is an absolute gem, and quite literally the best brewery food I've ever had the pleasure of inhaling. Let's start with the food, because yes--we came for the beer, but STAYED for the grilled cheese from heaven. I ordered the adult grilled cheese and it was everything: garlic, bacon, mozzarella, provolone, cheddar... all hugged by golden, homemade sourdough. Fries on the side, beer cheese as my bonus dip (no shame in my cheese game), and you bet I dunked every bite. No regrets. Game. Changed. My boyfriend got their version of a Philly cheesesteak, and it was fully loaded, with extra cheese baked on top like a beautiful gooey crown. Let's just say neither plate stood a chance--food coma unlocked. Now to the beer--small but mighty selection. I fell in love with the Inner Vixen Strawberry Blonde--crisp, clean, with just the right kiss of strawberry. My boyfriend was all about the Moseley Sands NE IPA, and we both obsessed over the branding of the Tod & Copper Red Ale (yes, like The Fox and the Hound and yes, it was adorable and totally drinkable). Now for the service--truly as impressive as the food. We were warmly welcomed by a friendly pair of hostesses, and there seemed to be staff everywhere, all happily helping out across the floor. We sat at a high-top near the bar and were looked after by two bartenders who were attentive, polite, and genuinely friendly. Waters stayed full, orders came quickly, and we never had to flag anyone down. That kind of attentive service just adds to the whole experience and kept the good vibes flowing from start to finish. The space is huge--two big indoor areas, a spacious bar, and a massive outdoor setup that screams live music, events, weddings, you name it. It's family-friendly too, and you can just tell this place is a local favorite with serious soul. We randomly stopped here on a road trip and now I'm scheming how to get back to the Richmond area just for another grilled cheese-beer-cheesesteak moment. Hidden Wit, you are anything but hidden now... because I will be telling EVERYONE.

Yelp
The fish and chips were delicious . The service was top notch We had a table of 12 people. The ambiance was delightful

Yelp
This was only our second time at Hidden Wit, which I'm honestly surprised at. I love that it's out of the way and away from all the hustle (at least for now). We have our dogs with us whenever we can. Both times we've been here the pups have been with us & welcomed outdoors. The back outdoor seating is very accommodating with some under cover. It's nice to come here and see families enjoying the space & see the children playing. Their menu choices seem to offer something for everyone. This time my Wife and I split the Beer Cheese/Soft Pretzels and the Nashville Chicken. Last time we had the Fish and Chips. All food has come out hot and exceeded the description on the menu in appearance and taste. We both really liked the Black Garlic Dijon with the Pretzels & Cheese. The beer choices look to change often enough to offer something new to try with each visit and the service both times has been friendly & attentive.

Yelp
We have been here a few times either for drinks with friends or for dinner and drinks. It's a cute little spot. It has a really nice outdoor space with areas for kids to play and they have a stage they built but we haven't seen a show there yet. The beer list is a pretty good size with a mix of lagers, stouts, sours, IPAs. The food is great but kind of pricey. Last time we were there my husband and I shared the wings, a salad and the grilled cheese. It was a little too much but tastey. The grilled cheese was decadent and the wings were amazing! We got their autumn salad and our only complaint was the squash it came with was cold and cold squash is not my jam. It's definitely worth going to check out but if you want to keep the price reasonable share a plate or just share some apps.

Yelp
This place is fantastic. We have been a few times now, they have a great outdoor venue for nice evenings, but also a sizable dining room. The food is great (stout brined wings are probably the favorite app) and service is pretty good. They can be a bit slow when completely packed out, but we've always enjoyed.

Melissa P.

Yelp
Everything.. it's become our favorite watering hole. Food:100% above most of the restaurants in the area. Hubby says beer is great.. I have enjoyed several of the specialty drinks on the menu: love them all. Service is always top-notch.. friendly and knowledgeable. Fun atmosphere.. will have to wait until the weather cools off before we venture outside, which BTW is a good time waiting to happen. Live music, markets, pop up camps by Burn Woodlake. Seriously, I might move in.

Yelp
The location is a little bit of a drive, but it Hidden Wit is well worth the trip! Outstanding food and service in a fun, new, well thought-out venue. The brew selection is built for a variety of tastes. The Black Lager and the Secret Ballot are excellent choices. My wife loved her "Inner Vixen" Blonde Ale with a hint of strawberry. Service is friendly and efficient. Enjoy playing corn-hole outside. Hidden Wit has an active calendar of entertainment events including music and trivia. You will definitely enjoy your experience!

Yelp
Popped in late Sunday afternoon to check the place out. The place is large with lots of seating options (inside and out). Being an IPA fan, my guy got a flight of the three IPAs plus a Lager to fill the last spot of 4. I ordered a margarita as they have some cocktail options (and wine if desired). The margarita was meh. It didn't really taste like a margarita so maybe it was their take on one with a non traditional recipe? The feedback about the beer was that it was not terrible but didn't have much flavor. He wouldn't drink again. But our usual place is the Veil so tough competition!

Yelp
Not to be outfoxed, this hidden brewery is pretty cool. Newly opened, it's obvious the owners put a lot of thought in the design of the place. It's a huge space with a restaurant with TVs, a bar, foyer, and huge event room, plus an expansive outdoor patio with plenty of seating. The view is lovely, and you are surrounded by lush woods. They have outdoor games, fire pits, and cozy nooks to enjoy some brew time. Speaking of the brews, I think that they will get better with time. The guys in our group weren't crazy about the beer, but I had a light Pilsner and I found it refreshing. The food was great! My friends had a crab concoction that they devoured along with some roasted Brussels sprouts. We had burgers with skinny fries (the fries were good but super salty). The burger was delicious! This pet-friendly spot will definitely be a popular destination for families, friends, and anyone who is looking for a fun hang!

Yelp
I can't possibly express how average the food and beer are at Hidden Wit. If there was an ultimate middle of average in this universe and a definition was required to describe it in the dictionary, it would be Hidden Wit's food and beer. A+ for the ambiance and service, the people that work there are attentive and nice. I just feel bad that they have to serve food that just emanates a "Meh" reaction. Burgers are the best bet as it's tough to mess up a burger. This menu needs so much of an overhaul and get a new head chef with taste buds. I go there for the Wed night trivia, and it's great, but I'd eat elsewhere prior to heading there, if I had time...

Yelp
Hidden Wit is a total hidden gem! The location is right off 360 and a beautiful space! While the location is new, the brews and food feel like they've been an establishment for years! They have amazing food that's everything from shareables and apps, to high end filet mignon. There are many beers to choose from that offer a variety of tastes multiple options. Not a beer drinker? No problem! They have wine and bourbon too and are happy to make you a drink of your choice. They have yard games, multiple spaces for hanging out and beautiful dining rooms! Check this out on a nice day or during a rain storm. You'll enjoy it in any weather!

Kyle H.

Yelp
As we entered through the door, we were warmly greeted and quickly seated. Our server Annabelle was kind, attentive and knowledgeable about the food and drink menu. That's all great... but what about the food / drinks? Fantastic. My wife had a Super Major beer, and I tasted it as well. It was delicious and not overly creamy like some stouts can come off. The food was careful prepared and also delicious. They pair the sides extremely well, even seasoning the fries differently depending on the dish. Bold flavors to be expected, as you would hope in an upscale pub. I highly expect we'll be back!
google avatar

Peter N.

Yelp
This place is nice however the food is very expensive and not so great. I ordered fish and chips, first of all it come with fries seasoned with Old Bay, then you get a small Cole slaw, and 2 only 2 fish sticks , for $24 which is crazy.
google avatar

Holly G.

Yelp
Their dishes are upscale and delicious. I keep going back for the fish & chips. I'm hoping for more vegetarian dishes though. If you're a non-drinker like me, you can order soft drinks. I'm hoping they will feature some mocktails or NA brews soon. PS. I recommend going during the week when it's less crowded. The weekends = long waits.

Greg L.

Yelp
We went on a Saturday evening. The parking lots were packed, so my son and I went in to get a table while my wife and daughter parked our vehicle. The person at the front desk said there was a wait inside, but tables were available outside. It was a nice afternoon, so why not? BIG MISTAKE Imagine eating dinner in the middle of a McDonald's Playland. Toddlers and older kids ran amok while parents were engrossed in conversation. The food was average at best, and my beer was nothing special. We are 99.999% sure we won't go back.
google avatar

Ashley R.

Yelp
Hidden Witt has a great atmosphere. I loved how the outdoor seating was still shaded. The food was delicious!

Ted D.

Yelp
Went here with a small group for afternoon lunch/beer/relax. Food was very very poor in quality and prep and overpriced. Wife got a panini that would be considered awful if it was served in a high school cafeteria or a bus station... and way overpriced. I ordered fish and chips that would get sent back on an airplane. Taste not too bad but portion was tiny and effort in presentation was lacking. All of the other dishes received equal ratings, lackluster, blah, overpriced - bad a worse. No shining star here. I will never return! Go to FEST for better beer, food and fun !
google avatar

Mike J.

Yelp
Another great meal at Hidden Wit, love their fish and chips and wife loves the Cuban. For the beer, some of the best in town. Have not had one I don't like. The service is always with a smile and the team here does a great job. The outside area is awesome and they are building a stage for some summer music, inside a little loud, but that is because they are a full house. The outside area makes it fun for the kids. Great stop for sure!

Yelp
This place has major staffing issues. We really wanted to like this place, have been several times. Food is great, nice location. However, the last few times we have come there are many tables open while still on a 30 minute wait. Attitudes from the servers just make coming here miserable especially when places like this are so expensive and I work hard for the money I am using to patronize these businesses. A server came up to the host stand while I was asking if we could sit at a high top and she threw every excuse in the book "it will be a few minutes there are only 2 bartenders serving all the high tops and the entire bar." Why is that relevant to a customer? Having worked in a restaurant it's just distasteful. There was a huge line just to get a drink and was moving extremely slow because they have no staff. You also cannot order food at the bar to take outside because of more staffing excuses and "small kitchen." Maybe get a food truck? Would recommend going to other breweries like Hardywood and Triple Crossing.
google avatar

Scott R.

Yelp
Slow service, average food, average beer, high prices, in a world filled with breweries this place has exactly what you would expect from a rural brewery. Nothing stands out, nothing is bad everything is very avocado, basic. It's family and pet friendly like every other brewery in the state. Nothing to go out of your way for but certainly a more than adequate spot to meet up with friends and family.

Chris C.

Yelp
Great selection of beer and good food. My biggest complaint is they're closed WAY too early on Friday and Saturday nights (9pm). They're a bit out of the way, so you can't just leave there and hop over to another place...so not a good option for a late night out with friends, but definitely worth a stop if you have time during the day.

Ana L.

Yelp
This was a hidden find for us. We discovered it while driving to Amelia and decided to stop. A musician played outside, and the atmosphere was open and airy inside--two different dining areas. I ordered the pretzel appetizer, which was INCREDIBLE--loved every bit. I felt like there should have been a few more options for those who aren't meat eaters. I ended up with a grilled cheese, which was good. The service was good. They had a game to see who could guess how the restaurant got its name. I've since discovered that this restaurant does music on weekends, music bingo, and other fun events throughout the year. We will be back with friends.

Yelp
Great place out in the country! I hate to drive to downtown Richmond so this is a nice place for food and beer. The only thing I would tell you is it's very loud with kids running around without any parent supervision. But is a safe place too. It's like a huge playground that parents can drink and let there kids run wild. See my video

Meredith G.

Yelp
Great space to play and hangout outside, or inside too. Menu is smallish but worth dining in

Alexi H.

Yelp
We went on a Saturday and it was super crowded. I was hoping to find a local spot in the neighborhood that could feel like ours but unfortunately we did not get this experience. The place seemed to be understaffed with really long lines. Only the inside bar was open which was crowded, outside bar was closed. Food for the kids took over 45 minutes to receive. There were tables outside available but we were told we had to check in and put our name on the list which was a 45 min wait (with tables just sitting free!) Every square inch was taken and we ended up sitting on the ground. They have a lot of land and would be smart to extend eating area out more. Food was expensive and not much beer selection (my husband likes IPA but they were all hazy). My friend got a Moscow mule poured out of a can for an exorbitant amount of money.
google avatar

Miranda K.

Yelp
The brewery itself is beautiful, and I look forward to sitting outside with a drink in warmer weather. What is disappointing is that there are no vegan options! It's 2024! Give us at least 2 options so we can enjoy a good meal with family. A good chef should have no problem coming up with a couple of delicious dishes! Do that and there will be a lot more custom for you.
google avatar

Hilde B.

Yelp
Great new brewery in Chesterfield- the food, service & ambiance are all very good & the beer is great!
google avatar

Maria K.

Yelp
Food is great. Beer is great. Love the green space outside where kids can run around. Awesome place to gather with friends and family.

K N.

Yelp
We went the other day and were pleased with everything! I love that it was designed with families/events in mind and we loved our kids could run around while we enjoyed some food and drinks. I was shocked at how $$ everything was, it would be nice to have some more affordable options, especially in the appetizer area. We paid $16 for a fancy pretzel appetizer and everything else hovered around $20/dish. However we really enjoyed the atmosphere and drinks so we will definitely be returning for a night out!

Lindsey R.

Yelp
We recently hosted a 40th birthday party here and everything was fantastic! The planning was smooth and communication was consistent, the food was amazing and there was PLENTY to go around. Absolutely recommend!

Justin K.

Yelp
Stopped by after visiting the Richmond Zoo. Good food and good beer in a nice atmosphere. The service was also great. Will definitely visit again.

Chris S.

Yelp
Atmosphere is great. Service is terrible. It's more likely that Elvis will rise from the dead and ask to suck you off than for your server to check in on you.

Bill A.

Yelp
Wonderful setting. Great food and drink. Exceptional service. Terrific spot for families.
google avatar

Chelle J.

Yelp
Highly recommend, great atmosphere they have a variety of cocktails that are not on the menu that are very good. Very friendly staff. Food is very good.
google avatar

Larry C.

Yelp
Good food, friendly staff. Food took a little time to come out, but they were packed and only open couple weeks. Still working out details I'm sure. Large party tables need food closer to same time. Will go again to try other dishes and beers.
google avatar

Dave H.

Yelp
Nice place. Good beer and the sandwich was delightful. Short rib dip was great with the "We should open a brewery" irish stout!!

Michelle E.

Yelp
Fantastic family atmosphere with great food and beer! Great addition to western Chesterfield.

Sara K.

Yelp
First time visiting and will absolutely go back! The food was wonderful and the building and surrounding grounds provided a lot for families with young children to enjoy. Thanks for a fun evening!

Julia M.

Yelp
We celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary at Hidden Wit with 26 friends and family and it was perfect. The communication pre-party and the organization of the event were outstanding. The food and beverages were delicious. We received so many compliments from our guests. Thank you Hidden Wit!

Jason V.

Yelp
Wonderful backwoods feel with a great appearance. Food was great! Classic burger done right and fries were spot on! Beer selection is great and reaches a wide variety, something for everyone! Service was good! Plan on returning for a live event. Trivia starting on Weds. soon as well!

Kris H.

Yelp
Edited to add... THEY BLOCKED ME ON FACEBOOK! Instead of addressing my concerns, they literally blocked me. This isn't a brewery with food, it's a restaurant with some beer. Beer was mediocre at best, but if you actually like and want more, better plan on getting food. There is no way to "belly up to the bar"... you go behind a rope, single file to a single register when you only want drinks. Not fast, and the beer menu isn't easy to read from the angle... certainly not trying to sell beer. Building is beautiful, but restaurant seating is tight, seating for just drinks feels cold. And it's very, very loud. Food looked good going by, but that's not what we were there for, but sadly the seating for us just wasn't welcoming. Frankly, the place felt very divided, think Weatherford's vs. Handmaids. Maybe the food is worth it, but we won't go back because the beer and atmosphere was below par.

Patrick R.

Yelp
First time here for my wife and I, and we absolutely loved it. The food and beer were delicious. The place is loud but inviting. Our server, Bailey, was wonderful. Lots of things coming in the spring like music and an outdoor bar. We will definitely be back.

Chris M.

Yelp
Had a great time, the bartender Kimberly was very professional and very helpful with picking my beers. Everyone at the table thought she was the brewer and the stout was amazing. She's the reason I'll go back.

Warren K.

Yelp
We arrived around 5:30 PM on a Saturday expecting it to be busy since it was a nice evening. We were told that it would be an hour wait, so we found a table in the side room and ordered drinks: I ordered the Brown Ale that was excellent. Surprisingly, we were seated in the bar/dining room within 20 minutes. We waited to order for around 20 minutes when a bartender came to our table to inquire if we had ordered. He took our orders. We ordered the charcuterie and cheese board appetizer and our meals for 4 people. We waited around 30 minutes for our food. The main entrees were delivered by a server, but we never got the charcuterie and cheese board appetizer. My Spicy Thai Chicken sandwich was excellent and the french fries were nice and crisp. After waiting 30 minutes upon finishing our meals, we had to go to the bar to get our bill. We were not charged for the charcuterie and cheese board appetizer (bartender never ordered), but were charged for an extra beer that we never received. The manager did give us a growler can of beer to take home. This is a nice place, but they may have been understaffed for the number of people. I would have given them 5 stars had the service been better.

Kelly S.

Yelp
I have been here before and it was OK. A little slow however it was new. My husband and I were on the way home from a weekend trip and we were going by so we stopped for dinner. We had our dog with us. I went inside to order food and beer. I was told I couldn't order food. I was confused. We had to sit outside because of our dog. I went to the host stand and they got me a Manager or Owner to talk to. He was very rude. He said they didn't have servers at our table. I said I would come on and get it and I didn't need a server. He said it didn't work that way. I had to get a table inside and order. I said my Husband was outside with my dog and that was not acceptable. He said to leave my dog in the vehicle. He didn't care. I said you just lost our business. I would say this is not dog friendly. We drank our beer and went to Fest so we could eat. It's a shame because it is a beautiful building and property. I learned talked outside under the awning got waited on however dogs couldn't be there even though it was outside.
