Hideaway has nice management staff like Donavan and Makayla, and all their staff have been friendly and polite to me when I come to the office for package pickup or when I call with a question. Their maintenence people are also very helpful and nice. Hideaway staff give us frequent free fun events too. Hideaway feels like a safe place to live, and they have a beautiful waterfall swimming pool, a nice gym, basket ball courts, and study rooms, with free printer use! My neighbors of various ages and a variety of study majors here, are friendly to me, and there are good vibes all around here. I was offered no incentives for my review, yet give it freely because there is so much to like about being here! Thanks Hideaway! :-)

Wow. I’ve had such a tremendous experience with Hideaway Gainesville. You will not find a more attentive and caring staff. They were so diligent in informing me about everything to hideaway. From a walkthrough of the amentities to sitting down and going through line by line everything that the lease entails, Hideaway has gone above and beyond for me and I believe this is an experience that will happen for any resident. During my time signing up with Hideaway, I had the pleasure of meeting Melissa. Melissa is a perfect example of what excellent service is. She went above and beyond in making sure I had the most pleasant experience. She will talk to you, and actually cares. She is also full of plenty of amazing stories! I am extremely happy with the service I’ve received from Hideaway. Allie and Jonathan are also tremendous assets to the complex, and will stay on the phone with you until you are satisfied. If you decide to come to Hideaway Gainesville, it will be a great decision.

So far I’ve had a good experience at Hideaway. The staff has been very friendly & helpful with any questions. Donovan specifically has shown great energy every time I see him & he always remembers each and every resident’s name when he sees them. He always has a smile every time I see him & is quick to fix any issues.

***POTENTIAL RENTERS BEWARE, PLEASE READ - DO NOT RENT FROM HIDEAWAY GAINESVILLE*** I lived at Hideaway from 2021-2023. During this time there were multiple instances where we were charged extra fees over minor circumstances, maintenance workers would claim we were smoking inside, and at one point a maintenance worker barged into the bathroom I was using after knocking and asking if anyone was inside. The bugs and lack of urgency for necessary maintenance (see the photo of the damaged stairs attached - not fixed for months after being notified) notwithstanding, the most egregious offense from this complex was their refusal of accountability. On May 25, 2023, I rushed home after being called by my roommates in a panic, stating that our apartment was flooding. When I walked through the door I found that the floor was covered in about 2-3 inches of water, with more water pouring in from the apartment above ours (Building 3, Apartment 14). Apparently, a maintenance employee (the same one who barged into my bathroom) working on the water heater upstairs forgot to attach one side of the hose, causing water to not only flood the apartment he was working in, but ours below it. This left our belongings damaged and unfunctional in some cases. You can see the damages in the videos and photos below. The light fixtures held water for at least another month, and we were completely without fire alarms as the water had passed through any fixtures attached to the ceiling. The very maintenance worker who caused all of this had this to say: "it happens." When we tried to get them to reimburse us for the damages, we were told that the insurance company they use does not account for mistakes made by maintenance workers. Over $1,200 worth of damages were sustained and after two years we have not heard anything since moving out. I am tempted to take legal action if this is not resolved. Hideaway is not deserving of your money and your chances to find clean living areas are much higher elsewhere.

Rented for two years here, worse service ever received and the dirtiest apartment we've experiences. between 1st and 2nd year, decided to move to upgrade apartment with hopes it was nicer. We were charged over $300 in cleaning fees that were not warranted and moved into an apartment that was dirtier than the one we were just charged $300 for cleaning. there's no way the new apartment was cleaned prior to moving in and it was vacant. even the microwave was dirty with food and paint on the floor. Upon moving out this year, we were charge over $100 x4 for each resident for the same dirtiness that we moved into. the photos they sited were the same or worse condition than the photos we took at move in. We did the appropriate appeal process and were denied because we 'did not document any damage upon move it'. We had photos and talked with the office but I guess it wasn't documented on the correct form. There are so many cleaner and nicer apartments with better amenities. Beware!!!! Don't choose Hideaway!!!!

The words to talk about this place are insurmountable. From the moment, I toured the place to two years later. Everyone in the leasing office treats me with so much love and care. Very accommodating to my needs, requests, etc. The amenities such as study rooms, gyms, and seasonal activities are just a bonus to be honest. If you need an affordable, cozy place to stay during this journey of yours in Gainesville, Hideaway is the only decision. And I will always vouch for that! Shoutout to Mikayla, Glennette, Melissa, Sydney, Donovan, Ally, Ty, Joey/Anthony and E. If you ever get the pleasure of meeting them, they’re the sweetest and will make you feel seen.

Had no problems with them until today. I paid my rent on time By doing an Echeck .. now today they send me an email saying my check did not go through and my bank account is frozen … what? I called my bank and they said my account is not frozen and has not been and that I have the funds and everything.. i contact hideaway and they said that’s not on them and I still have to be an extra 150 dollars for late fee and bounced check even tho I have proof of everything and they don’t even ask to see the proof. This is just wrong and very shady. lol was thinking about leasing again next year but nevermind. UPDATE: They are obviously angry about this review because they haven’t done this the whole time i’ve been here but they decided to send my utilities over to resident portal and give me a 1 day notice and then put a paper on my door saying I have 7 days or they terminate my lease. LOL even tho when I haven’t noticed the utility payments they usually call first to ask when I will pay it. Great apartments, Shady company taking advantage of college students is not okay and i’ve already been in contact with a lawyer and have all these screenshots ready. RESPONSE TO WHAT YOU SAID : My name is sundari. it is so unprofessional that you sit there and say that my review is not “accurate”. because you couldn’t find my name in your system … I’ve emailed and texted you guys multiple times and not one person has actually tried to help me as the paying member that I am.

I recently visited a friend who just moved into Hideaway Gainesville and had an extremely frustrating experience. There are no visible signs anywhere warning guests where they can or cannot park. I parked near their apartment for just two hours and came back to find my car immobilized with a boot and had to pay $80. (Total of 160$ for two hours parking) read below. Even worse, my friend also got booted, despite being a new resident who had already received their parking sticker but hadn’t had the chance to place it yet. There was no grace period or leniency and still no signage in the lot to indicate where residents or guests are supposed to park. When we tried reaching out to management to explain the situation, there was no real help, we were simply told to “park in the guest area,” which is tucked away by the leasing office and not clearly marked for visitors. If you live here, be prepared to warn every single guest in advance, because the property offers zero signage, no flexibility, and very aggressive parking enforcement. It genuinely feels more like a setup to fine people than a place trying to welcome new residents. And again, the place i parked in had no signs that it’s reserved or that we shouldn’t park there or anything. I just found 5 cars next to each other booted at the same time.

Yelp
Living at Hideaway was fine, but the move-out process was a nightmare. It exposed the unfair and potentially unlawful business practices that Hideaway and their parent company, Coastal Ridge Real Estate, rely on to squeeze as much money as possible out of tenants. From my experience -- and from others I've seen online -- expect to be charged unreasonable amounts upon move-out for "cleaning" or "damages." In my case, I was billed $272.50, $137.50 of which were cleaning fees (I disputed this immediately). In my dispute response, the manager said in the email that part of these cleaning charges were due to "vendor activity throughout multiple areas," meaning I was billed to clean up after their vendors, not for how I actually left the apartment (swept, mopped, and wiped down). When I called or emailed, I only asked for one thing: that someone point out to me where in my lease it says I am responsible for paying to clean up after third-party actions. If they couldn't, then I asked that they remove that portion of the fee, which was only a small part of my overall bill. I expressed this in an email sent on 8/21. Over nearly a month, I followed up weekly with phone calls and emails, and even submitted inquiries through Coastal Ridge's website. I didn't receive any response until 9/16 -- only after I told an LC on the phone that I planned to come to the office in person, where the managers who receive emails at info@hideaway.com work. Even then, the email just said that all charges stood and completely ignored my concern about the fee due to 'vendor activity' (did not even mention it). Coastal Ridge never responded at all, and there's no phone number/email or any way of contacting them besides the inquiry form on their website (seems convenient if you ask me). When I did go to the office and ask for a minute of the manager's time, I was flat out told that "no one will speak with you" and was literally shown the door. When I left, I said I would report them to the FDAC and file a complaint with the BBB if no one could offer me a justification of this fee by 9/19 (a few days before my bill was due). This prompted an email from them in which they said: "When our statement read that "the common area required a full cleaning due to vendor activity throughout multiple areas," this was not meant to suggest that vendors left the apartment in disarray. Rather, the vendor's process required them to touch and move through multiple surfaces/rooms, and as a result they billed for a full clean of the apartment instead of a partial or a light cleaning. The fee reflects the vendor's scope of work and billing structure, not that a mess was caused from them." Which is just another way of saying the same exact thing, and is still outside the scope of my lease. What this amounts to is coercion: they delay, dismiss, and ignore disputes until your bill is due, leaving you with the choice to pay questionable fees or risk collections that could damage your credit. They know many of their tenants are students and rely on good credit in the coming years. Future and current tenants should be warned: the management at Hideaway does not care about you, your concerns, or even operating within fair or legal limits. They will not work with you, they will not be reasonable, and they will not give you even a minute of their time. Please see the attached pictures that show when I emailed them, followed up, and when I actually received responses (I wouldn't call 8/21 to 9/16 "within 72 hours" but that's what they claim!).

Yelp
DON'T live here unless you want to be ripped off!! The people in the office instructed me to leave items in my apartment in case the next renters wanted them, and then they tuned around charged me $95 PER ITEM left in the apartment. Then they also charged me for not turning in my amenities card, when I clearly did (they actually said it was an "outdated card" when I turned it in but it was clearly the one they gave me). They now charge for parking and every other little thing you could imagine. Just do yourself a favor and live somewhere else!!

Yelp
Though I'm currently very frustrated with Hideaway, I think it's only fair to give a balanced review. I've lived here for a year and I'm stuck here until August, and lots of it has been good. I like the look of the apartment buildings, and the main area with the pool and study lounge is awesome. The rent price is also pretty great, even considering utility bills, and I do appreciate that there's free parking for residents. In my first year of leasing, the staff was very kind and helpful, and it made me feel very welcomed. That being said, there's been a lot of issues since the start of living here that have grown more frustrating as I've realized that management isn't the most helpful. Most things were small, like dirty socks from the last tenant under my bed or having to buy a mattress cover because the one they gave me was just like a dorm matress and was super uncomfortable. Some things were more annoying; the wifi was generally terrible in 2024, and the building I live in is very externally dirty, but I was mostly fine with it. Last year, that's pretty much the only issues I had with them, so I resigned my lease. I even rated it 5 stars before and encouraged one of my friends to sign here, which I now feel pretty guilty about. This year, things have started to get more and more frustrating. When our new random roommate was moving in, Hideaway sent in cleaners without informing us at all, and those cleaners left our door completely unlocked. My roommate came into the house to find it unlocked, with clear signs that someone had moved our things, and was understandably terrified. My friend that I encouraged to sign here had a huge cockroach problem in his apartment from the day of move in; he woke up once to find a cockroach crawling on him, and then Hideaway still took about three weeks to send someone to help him out. He seemed completely miserable about it! In fairness, I've only ever seen maybe one cockroach in my own apartment, but I was still appalled that they left his apartment in such an unlivable state. Probably most annoyingly of all, I've gotten an 85 dollar boot put on my car twice in the last week or so because my license plate expired. The first time it happened, I missed an exam review and ended up losing significant attendance points and my last chance to prepare for an exam. Turns out, my license plate wasn't expired at all, and my sticker was just taken from my car or fell off. Where am I supposed to put my car while I wait for the new sticker to deliver? Why have I been booted twice in the place where I live and nowhere else? I called Hideaway, and they told me that there was nothing they could do, even though I could get another 85 dollar fine at any time just for parking at my own apartment. I was sent a new sticker to confirm that it's not expired. Then, I got booted again, just because I don't have the sticker that's still being delivered! I understand that they have a contract with the towing company, but it feels like the towing company isn't doing anything anyhow -- my other friend, who has a reserved spot, has had her spot stolen before, and Hideaway told her they couldn't do anything. Meanwhile, I'm a resident paying my rent, and I'm getting fined nearly 200 dollars while parked in the place where I sleep and live. Ultimately, I really don't think it's the worst place to live. The rent is cheap, and the public areas are clean, at least. That being said, I think it's one of those situations where you might not pay a lot of money upfront, but Hideaway will usually do the bare minimum and upcharge you where possible. I may be biased due to my current frustrations, but I don't think it's really worth it. If you're a student like me and you're still figuring out how to live on your own and be an adult, Hideaway won't be very helpful or generous, and they might even boot your car when your license plate gets taken.

Yelp
I rarely leave reviews, but I feel obligated to share my experience living at Hideaway so others can make an informed decision. Move-in was a complete disaster. It took us half the day just to get our keys, and when we finally got into the apartment, it was dirty--despite being advertised as "upgraded." The table in our unit was wobbly, and the bathroom had peeling paint and an uneven floor that caused water to sit in the shower, eventually leading to mold. I submitted maintenance requests and was told it would be fixed, but no one ever showed up. The apartment we toured looked nothing like what we were given. It felt misleading and careless on management's part. Throughout my time here, communication with staff has been poor. Melissa, in particular, was dismissive and unhelpful both during move-in and when I tried to respectfully dispute a charge for leaving a cardboard box near the dumpster--a situation I immediately offered to correct. Even though the lease doesn't clearly mention cardboard as a violation, I was still fined without flexibility or understanding. To make matters worse: My bike was stolen from the property. There was an alleged murder in the area during my stay. Staff have been seen riding around smoking marijuana on the property, which says a lot about how seriously they take safety and professionalism. This experience has been stressful, disappointing, and unprofessional from the start. If you're a student, young adult, or parent helping your child find housing--please look elsewhere. Hideaway may have a nice website, but the reality doesn't match the pictures or the promises

Yelp
My son just moved here and I have yet to get a call back from this place regarding important questions that i have about the unit. 3 phone calls and no call back. 3 messages and no call back. It's absolutely unacceptable. Also took 1 month to get the dryer fixed. It's a shame i live 5hrs away and couldn't show up and demand a manager.

Sammi C.

Yelp
i was trying to sublease an apartment from them, that they made the hardest process. more specifically, Mikayla did, manager or supervisor whatever she is, she is actually the worst representative i've had to deal with. she didn't respond, (to me trying to get rid of this apartment and what i need to do, money i need to pay) multiple times making me drive 45 min to the complex just to figure things out. don't stay here unless you have money you never want to see again, and time you want to waste.

Laura C.

Yelp
this apartment is a scam. don't sign a lease unless you have thousands of dollars to throw away. i got roped into renewing for my friend to sub lease, no big deal. except, when my friend backed out and it was before it started, i thought i could cancel it. could not. no big deal, still. even though at that point i hadn't lived there in 9 months but was still maintaining the rent, again, no big deal. however, when it came to finally finding someone for subleasing, i find out i have to pay 85% of, NEXT months rent. when i legally won't be living there, and after new tenant pays, i have to still pay over $500 just to get this off of my hands. not to mention, the whole complex is disgusting. they barely blow off the sidewalks and roads, the hallways are filled with trash and fluids, roaches and infestations happen weekly. i do not recommend this place. it was nice 5 years ago, and that's that. it is pure garbage now.

Yelp
I used to live here and when I finally moved out, I received a cleaning fee after i left. I received an email in August and in September to remind me, but i just didnt check. (Which is on me). The point though that was unsatisfactory was I called to see what options i have to dispute my charges in even though I called 5 weeks later. I knew i had at least a little bit of time left. He had an attitude with me on the phone saying I dont have time left. I asked for the dispute link anyways, he continued to give me an even snottier attitude, cut me off rudely, and then finally i caved in, said ill just pay it, just because of the customer service i was receiving. I have no issue paying it, i was just wondering if there was any option to dispute. That's all. I forgot his name, but he really was probably the most unpleasant customer service experience ive received at hideaway and usually they are very kind and helpful. Im also slightly confused on the move out fee because i scrubbed and vacuumed for hours plus they charged me almost $300 dollars my last month of living there for utilities alone i hardly use. Didnt help that the guy helping me was passive and rude.

Alex K.

Yelp
Ok place to live, charged me unreasonably when I moved out and wouldn't let me dispute. Very frustrating. I don't have the money to afford an attorney but I would have taken legal action if I could've afforded it.

Rachel A.

Yelp
I would like to start off I liked hideaway when it was called campus lodge. I started to live her November of 2020, It was awesome then. Rent was super cheap back then. I was paying $425 with utilities not budging anywhere close to $45. I've lived there for 3 full terms by lease and then lived with my s/o for 1 term by his lease. Everything was going so good. Until 2023 when I moved out of my 3/3 lease. They charged me over $300 for utilities when I didn't even use that room much. Don't get me started with the "oh it's just estimates." Bull crap. You don't charge someone over $600!!! For a 2 months. That's bull crapppp Ok then they tried to tell me that the carpet in the room was damaged. And had not been vacuumed. Well I had documents proving I had cleaned the room and I refused to pay the fees. Well come move in day. (Lease transfer) I had went to get my papers and all that fun jazzy stuff. They refused my move in. I told them I didn't have to pay that. "Well the only way to get your keys is to pay the fee" girl I should have just said fine I don't want be living there then. The hell of that trouble. I paid $425 to get my lease taken out of my name. Not to mention I was pregnant this entire time. Now fast forward to me and my s/o and my child moving out of this said apartment. He gets hit with a whomping $670 estimate charge for simple bills. Oh hell noooo. We can't pay that. You expect someone to pay $595 plus $675 plussss!!! Other fees yall like to tack on. In what 14 days. Bull once more You then charge him for misc. let's see a beat up stove that yall told us was gonna get replaced and not to worry about it. Yall said you were going to replace the microwave your charging him for that too. You're charging him for some damn dust on a fan. Some dirt in the damn floor. And a god damn hanger!!! I frankly recall you telling all my roommates. Yall know who I'm talking about. Yall told us that scoffs on the wall is just normal wear and tear and not to worry about it. It's nothing that would warrant paint. Yall are charging him for blinds he put in work orders for but didn't get them repaired. Huh... good maintenance. Nah. Some of this stuff he was charged. But over half the shit yall charged him is completely insane. Yall are charging $90 for some dust on a dresser. And some scuffs on a wall and some damn dust on a fan. Some freaking water marks on a mirror. Some cheap greedy people. Yall don't keep the gates closed I haven't seen them closed in ages. You don't keep your community safe. There has been 3 incidents that have happened and it's all over the news. People getting stabbed people getting shot. So much for a "gated community" Why lie. Does it make you feel better about the fact you like to scam people. Yall make me sick. And I hope hideaway gets shut down or new management. Prices are ridiculous. I can only see a 2 or 3 people in that management being the real ones. You know who you are and I thank you. But this is ridiculous There's so much more to this story. Too much more. Please just steer clear from hideaway. It's not a place for your college student. Or for your new year of moving out

Tara T.

Yelp
I recently moved into Hideaway. I initially had multiple maintenance requests. It's been less than two weeks and they fixed everything. My fan made a funny sound and they installed a new one as soon as they realized the issue. We also got a new TV, and the flooring by the door completely fixed. The maintenance team was very nice. I only caught Joeys name, but they were both helpful. I also had a good experience with the office staff. They accommodated our preferences and were understanding . Shoutout to Ian and Makayla!

Asmah A.

Yelp
In my opinion, Hideaway is a good place to stay. So far I haven't had any issues. It's decent and cool. The staff is very nice. I would love to give a shout-out to Aliya at the front office. Aliya is so nice and always so helpful.

Nicole G.

Yelp
Anthony is a shining presence holding down the front office of Hideaway! From the moment I walked in to inquire with the residence, his warm and welcoming energy had me feeling like I was "home" Thank you Anthony

Lyera P.

Yelp
I love hideaway so far! The maintenance team is always quick to respond to my requests and the front office staff is great at responding to my phone calls and such.

izabela f.

Yelp
i love this place. Julia helped me with my touring and helped me get a place settled. julia is an amazing worker and will continue going for her for anything i need

Chantal O.

Yelp
I absolutely love living here. It's one of the nicest places in Gainesville, and the apartments are spacious. I recently got a new carpet, which adds to the overall charm. and my roommates are incredibly easygoing. I absolutely adore the pool; it's absolutely amazing.

Ashley J.

Yelp
DO NOT MOVE here!!!! HORRIBLE!!!! They will charge you so many hidden fees and everyone gets a $250 move out fee or more on top of the $200 per month electric bill from Simple Bills which is another huge scam! They won't let you pay your rent unless you pay an extra $15 on top of the rent and there's nothing you can do!!! Please don't let this disgusting, unsafe, corrupt, rude place take your hard earned money!

Elise L.

Yelp
Looking for an apartment complex that actually cares about their tenants and not what's in their tenants wallets? Keep looking, upon move in, our dishwasher leaked, our stove didn't work and several other issues within our apartment that took them weeks to fix. Meanwhile outside our apartment there are ants everywhere as well as crazy people walking about at all times. If you have a job that gets off at like 10, expect to walk at least half a mile to get to your apartment because there's little to no parking. This also isn't student housing, there are countless adults living here.

Darren S.

Yelp
Just asking the community if holding a tenants money for a month is ethical because of an IT issue that caused a late payment fee that hideaway Gainesville admitted being a mistake and that they said they would "Reverse" the issue, not hold the money and deduct from the following months rent. Has anyone else experienced this? @hideawygainesville, @coastalridgeproperties I smell a class action lawsuit If there was an option for zero stars, that's what they would receive

Tara P.

Yelp
DO NOT MOVE HERE! This place is the biggest scam and will take advantage of college students. Not only are the appliances in the apartment old and barely work but the apartment itself is disgusting no matter how many times you clean it. I had just gotten my bill about charges I received after moving out and they are charging me for a missing dresser I never received. They are charging me $250! And dont get me started on utilities! They will overcharge you for others usage of utilities and not your own. Also, at the end of the year they give you a guesstimate of the amount of utilities you will be using for your last month before move out and it it over $250. Please dont move here

Peter G.

Yelp
I would not wish living at Hideaway/Campus Lodge upon my worst enemy, and I've been living here for three years and will finally be able to leave come the end of this lease. Rent seems to be the cheapest option in the area until you receive almost $100 worth of utilities per each tenant. With rent being about $650 for a standard 3x3, plus the $100 of utilities each month (that also NEVER come out on the same day and give you 10 days to pay when they surprise you), the total for rent ends up being about $2,250. That's not even to mention the insane amount that you pay to register a pet then for the pet rent each month. And if you don't want to have to walk a half mile to get to your car every night, it's a $50 MONTHLY fee on top of it for reserved parking and $50 to replace the barcode sticker for your car if it's damaged, which, never works on the gate that's been operation for at MOST 2 months of the 36 I've lived at this complex. The apartments themselves are ATROCIOUS. No matter how much you clean it will always be disgusting. From the oven to the fridge to the dishwasher and the counters, everything is extremely cheap and outdated while they continue to raise rent. I hope you never have maintence issues because they will never actually fix your issue. Only two of our stove tops have worked for the past three years after countless work orders. One of the windows in the bedrooms doesn't fully shut so there's a consistent gnat problem. AC has broken several times. Running the dishwasher either causes water to fill the sink OR it leaks onto the floors. Oh and you better be quick because they will knock ONCE before they send the Calvary of at least 3 workers barging into your home regardless of what time it is with no regard if anyone is sleeping or if, god forbid, you were possibly having a "friend" over. The floors themselves are cheap faux wood that's INSANELY warped even as the front office promised area repairs before new tenants arrived. The couches are a NIGHTMARE of the WORST fake leather I've ever seen that sits on cheap wood. The cushions crack and scratch you if you even think of laying on them and they're too short to not have to rest your head on a wooden arm. The parking is the most atrocious it's been the whole time I've been here and the apartment itself IS NOT STUDENT LIVING! ANYONE CAN APPLY AND LIVE HERE! If anything happens where you have to move out for any reason, they do not allow you to pay a fee to break your lease. You either have to find someone to sublease and pay a fee or pay the entirety of the year's lease. Calling the front office even an entire hour from closing time is impossible, I'm convinced they turn the phones off at 5pm sharp. Another personal experience is dealing with them changing the locks without telling me after they said it would be delayed. Both my prior roommates had moved out and I was the only one occupying the unit. I called the front office and spoke to Anthony who spoke down to me as if I was crazy for being upset to be locked out of my apartment after a 12 hour shift at the hospital. Living here you are nothing but a cash cow for hideaway to get the most out of you while doing the least for you. But hey, Aliyah is wonderful So here's the review you've been begging for Hideaway.

Yelp
Moved here in August and so far, it has been great, the people there are very responsive and try their best in anything! Their pool is wonderful, and I cannot wait for the business center to be open!

Jacob S.

Yelp
Hideaway is great. When the AC went out Anthony was able to direct me to the emergency maintenance number and someone was there within a few hours and the AC was back up and running.

Yelp
Have to move out before my lease starts because my roommates are "uncomfortable" living with a lesbian. I can't pay a move out fee and have to find someone to sub lease my room since I can't even be living there while I am paying monthly due to my homophobic roommates. The only way to get out of the lease is to find someone to sub lease and pay a fee OR pay for the whole year which is ridiculous.

Yelp
Living in campus lodge has been a nightmare from start to finish. The maintenance team, staff, management and apartment all have serious issues. My grievances are listed below. * Apartment: o Roach Infested (thousands of roaches were living in our apartment the day we moved in) They were German roaches, which are notorious for being extremely difficult to get rid of. o Filthy upon move in (NOBODY cleaned the apartment since the last tenant) o Mold behind the dishwasher o Divots in the floor (sub-floor damage) o Apartment was not convenient to bus stops. (had to walk through an unlit wooded area every day in order to reach the stop) There were times on weekends and holidays when none of the buses servicing the Campus lodge stop were running. (had to order an Uber) o Broken and damaged furniture (patio table was held together by duct tape) o Extensive general damage throughout the apartment * Management: o Unresponsive to grievances (Did not even bother responding to many of our emails) o Were not apologetic or concerned with our complaints, and were instead defensive o Did not compensate or make up for the hundreds of dollars in pesticides, baits, cleaning supplies and other materials necessary to make the apartment inhabitable * Maintenance: o Took a long time to respond to maintenance requests o Did not properly fix the uneven sub-floor causing the divots in our floor until the end of spring * Staff: o Took me 4 visits to the office before they finally bothered to even look for my package because it was "not in the system" My apartment was infested with roaches from day one. You could not look at a wall, ceiling, or surface without finding a roach. It was not uncommon to find a nest of 10 or more German roaches in one location. The infestation was so bad that my roommates and I had to live with a friend for a week until we could get the situation under control. We contributed hundreds of dollars in pesticides, baits, cleaning supplies and other materials to make the apartment somewhat inhabitable. Additionally, my roommates and our families spent well over 20 hours of work each to fix the neglected apartment. We have not and will not be receiving any compensation for these supplies or our time and troubles, and our concerns and complaints have been ignored by all levels of campus lodge management. Prior to moving into campus lodge, I was not expecting to walk into an apartment that looked like the model. However, I thought that the apartment would be, at the very least, livable and functional. To allow tenants to move into an apartment in such bad condition points to either a major lack of knowledge as to the condition of the apartment, or a lack of compassion and dignity. Seeing as how campus lodge had the nerve to claim that providing an apartment infested with roaches that hadn't been cleaned is perfectly reasonable and not worthy of an apology, I tend to believe the latter. That is not the end of Campus Lodges ineptness. Maintenance is notoriously bad. Not only did it take many days before they ever got around to fixing our repeatedly cracking tiles, but they kept just replacing the tiles without treating source of the issue, the uneven sub-floor. They replaced the same tiles many times before finally filling the massive divots underneath our tile months after the issue had been brought to their attention. Campus Lodge added a lot of unnecessary stress at the start of my junior year, and throughout the school year dealing with management and fighting off the roaches after every break when they inevitably came back. My favorite day at Campus Lodge was the day I turned in my key!!! Do not make the mistake of choosing Campus Lodge.

Yelp
Living here has been really chill. A good complex, well maintained, and quieter. I do think the gates are a little annoying, but other than that, no issues and the staff are super friendly and open with communication. pretty cheap for the location which is super nice! Big shout out to Gavin! I talk to him every time I call or come in for a package and he really handles everything so well. I have come at him with crazy requests and question, and he does amazing, making sure I am answered, and things are taken care of. He rocks and is definitely a blessing to this company and complex!

Yelp
I wish I could give this place less than one star. They have terrible communication and they do not work with the residents at all.

Yelp
This place used to be amazing under the old management but under this new staff DONT WASTE YOUR TIME LIVING HERE!! One this place is soooo far from both Santa Fe and UF but at first, I didn't mind living here because it was cheap and everything was perfect. This is an email I wrote to them at the beginning which was never resolved, so you guys can have a glimpse of what you'll to deal with- {Since the moment I have entered this new apartment nothing has gone right. My room was not ready at all it was not cleaned nor dusted or anything of that sort. My keys did not work to lock my door or mailbox. Nothing was cleaned in the apartment. It was not up to anything that was promised to be done per the direct transfer agreement. But I decided not to make such a big deal because I was still excited to live with my friends. I had put in the work order THE DAY I moved in ( which was before everyone had a chance to move in) I listed everything handwritten, via the portal thing and by voice. Your employees have visited my room numerous times that they can attest to the severity of the apartment. The floors are horrendous, there still is not light by the stove ( even now at the end of my lease). It took you guy till four months to replace a piece of the washer that had rust in. BY THE WAY, many of my clothes received holes in it. ( was never told i'm sorry nor compensated). Yes, I understand you guys do not have a lot of maintenance staff. But for me to be a direct transfer and put in everything aug.8 and for it to be done two months later and I specifically did that because I knew the office would be slammed once the new residents came. However, when I went to the office before I received a yeah they'll get to it. Not acceptable. My shower was disgusting it was black and I have already signed up to have the updated showers with I was told would be done Sept. and now it was pushed back to Dec. I pay my rent and should at least have a decent looking shower. There was also a period during September during the hottest week in Gainesville that our AC was broken. When we called the number to call after hours and they were pretty quick in getting here. They delivered one portable AC unit that did not even cool down the apartment, it only cooled down the room it was in. We were a week without AC we could not cook because it made the apartment hotter, we couldn't do our laundry because of the same reason. We were forced to eat out everyday and my bank account literally was in the negatives because of it. We asked if there were another AC and nothing. We asked if we could be placed in a cheap motel or have some other living arrangement in the time being and nothing. We emailed you guys to see if we could get a discounted price on our rent because of the huge inconvenience and that email along with probably this one was ignored. Yet, when I was like 2 days late on rent you guys would not leave me alone. I was only waiting for my job to pay me. To me that's not fair for that case you guys left me many messages and emails about rent being due.(all we got was that was your desicion on not using the applicances and we were not believed when we said our apartment was in the 90's yet the OVERCHARGE we recieved said the highest temp the apartment got was 95 degrees and we were told to basically deal with it and its not our problem [ we also understood the replacement item was not instock but something needed to be done] [ I also my not run a business but it doesnt seem logical to only have 2 portable AC when you have over 20 buildings just saying] ) However, for this situation I am ignored and passed off. I have literally complained about this to you guys so many times that you guys even know when I go to the office and say my apartment number your like ohh yeah that apartment. I don't think that the way this experience has been going is correct. Honestly I'm to the point where I don't even want to speak to you guys anymore. I demand to have a contact information for your corporate. ( WHICH was never given to us) The "new management" that campus lodge is under, I want that number. I want some sort of compensation for this entire experience because I don't believe its fair for me a paying resident to have to do this much effort to get things done that should have already been done. I am also not the only person in this apartment that feels this way. My other 2 feel the same I am the second roommate to email you guys again about all of these. But, since this management took over its been horrible. } This is a message I wrote to the office 3 times and have yet to receive an answer, nothing new to the previous email- {Hello, this is the 3rd time I write this email, but unlike the last 2 times my last rent payment I have no idea why I paid 561 rather than my usual 547-550. I would like the charges explained, please

Yelp
I've lived at campus lodge for about 4 years. It was a pretty good place to live even though a little far from campus, but they recently got bought by a new management company and everything has gone done hill from here. 1) The broke my upgraded unit lease for this upcoming season (illegal by the way per the lawyer I consulted) right before it was supposed to be enacted and basically told me I needed to sign a new lease not for an upgraded unit or move out. I had to stay because it was 2 weeks before my lease was up and I couldn't find a different place to stay in that time. 2) The security gate which is a main feature that people like here has been broken since August and there has been minimal communication from the staff. The barcodes on our cars also don't work in the front OR back gate (the back gate has been broken for at least a year, I guess they are still waiting on that "new glass" to come in) 2) I have 3 malfunctioning appliances in my kitchen (fridge, dishwasher, and stove) and have been putting in work orders for the past 4 months now. I keep going in the office and they keep passing the blame to maintenance and saying that it will be fixed "soon". We just got the dishwasher last week, I'm not holding my breath for the other two. 3) The shower in my apartment was installed incorrectly and the door won't properly close, getting water everywhere. I have put in work order after work order and they kept trying to half-way fix it and it breaks again and refuse to re-do the shower. I could go on with the numerous rude encounters I've had with the office staff who really don't care about residents or the upkeep of the facilities they are supposed to provide. While this used to be a pretty okay place to live, I would definitely not recommend anyone live here now. PS: they are not giving utility caps with rent next year so expect costs to skyrocket.

Yelp
Once upon a time I was excited to move out of a dorm. But by the lord I should have just stayed on campus. Campus Lodge Gainesville was a wreck. A total disaster. They charge a full month of rent when the lease starts but don't let you move in until midway through the month. You would think that's so they could clean the unit between tenants right? You'd be wrong. They go for an outdoorsy vibe, and they do a very realistic job with the bugs and the dirt. Right when I first opened the front door there were 5 roaches on the backside of the door. A great start. It turns out I had to hold off on moving in for a week because there was an infestation of at least 3 species of roach, there were literally hundreds of them. I had to avoid the walls and step over their corpses and eggs and droppings, and it was certainly not a place I could call home. It felt unreal. Over that first week my friends and I had to purchase the materials to do the work ourselves of making the place habitable. Campus Lodge did nothing to help, and made no reparations or apologies. I cleaned and debugged the apartment during the day and couch-surfed elsewhere at night. My experience was so horrible it felt unreal, and the start to my school year was rough because of it. This place broke my spirit and actually gave me a depressive episode. Management didn't even feel like they had done anything wrong. We tried to get compensation for the ordeal but the lease gives stringent rights to tenants and they stiff-armed us. Do you really want to wake up to a roach in your bed? To see 5 huddled in the corner of your door, 10 clustered in your ethernet box? The place isn't a good location either. Campus Lodge's gates are stuck open, they have been all year, and there's a high density of registered sex offenders in the area. It's far from campus and they stuck me in a corner where I had to walk through a trail of mud and mosquitoes to get to the bus stop. I hated living here and just honestly don't want to see anyone suffer through those conditions. Everywhere in Gainesville, rent is going up. Except for Campus Lodge, where they're struggling to get their leases signed, and for good reason. Look. the place looks nice from a tour because they upkeep the pool and frontal areas to impress you. Sure, a lot of people I know even had a decent experience. But management does not have the capability to manage the complex, or they simply just don't care. If there's even a chance that they stick you in a neglected unit like mine, it's not worth it no matter how low the rent is. I may as well have signed over my happiness and well-being to Campus Lodge last year, and I will never be able to forget that dark time. So that you know who did this to me, Campus Lodge is managed by Coastal Ridge, and I will be avoiding them like the plague for the rest of my life.

Savannah B.

Yelp
I lived at Campus Lodge the entire time I was at UF. It was affordable, and it was probably the best deal for the money. Work orders sometimes took awhile to complete, but they were always taken care of. Campus Lodge was better when it was managed by EDR instead of Coastal Ridge. There were more students working there when it was EDR, and the Coastal Ridge management was pretty awful and inept. Overall, my experience here was a good one. Aside from the uncomfortable furniture and the gross tile/carpet, things were great. Most of the people on here are complaining about distance from campus, but it really wasn't that bad. I saved so much gas money by taking the bus to and from school!

Yelp
The security gate was never working. No cameras in public area. Partying neighbors are everywhere. If you have a car and this is what you'll get! For those who might be concerned, my car was actually severely scratched for TWO times, which in the picture shows the case for the second damage. When that happened the first time couple weeks earlier, I reported immediately to the office and asked them if there's anything they could do. Well, the conversation ended up within 5 mintues as they just said, "you should call the police". I recognized that there was truly "nothing" they could do at that moment, except that to fix the broken gate or leave a comment which seems to be very nice but actually useless at all right below my review after I had already moved out. Ironically, there is always a police car parking right in front of the office and I just realized that it must be the best Chrismas decoration ever! Maybe I should just shop amazon and get one for me to guard my car? I guess it must be much cheaper than spending $3000 to repaint my entire car!

Yelp
Im terms of price and amenities I do appreciate and prefer Hideaway over many other Apartments. When it comes to maintenance they are good with minor things until it's actually something big. My A/C recently broke in the midst of summer having a resting temp of 80 inside the house and two days of me calling the office and then telling me they would go within 24-48 hours and then saying they might not have the peices ultimately letting me know they use a 3rd party for AC because they don't have maintenance who know how to work w A/C. This is a "premium"apartment according to them which comes at an added price not to mention their lack of urgency with a situation like this. I was cool with them not passing by the first day but after 2 days and 5 calls to the office requesting someone to be sent I reached my limit. The Place is decent and comfortable to live in right up until you need to reach out to maintenance or the office....

Jiehui X.

Yelp
AC doesn't work and nobody came to fix it. Even with this trash maintainance service, campus lodge still raise the rent.

Michael R.

Yelp
Poor WiFi and a security entry gate that hasn't been repaired in over a year regardless of promises from management.

Brianna B.

Yelp
ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! If you are thinking about moving in don't! It's not worth the price the staff there treat their tenants like garbage. We have had instances where our door battery died and we were locked out of our apartment and when asked to fix it they hung up on us. There have also been other instances where they come in at anytime! 1 knock and they are barging into the apartment. The apartments are dirty looking and falling apart. Would definitely not recommend

Chiara P.

Yelp
Honestly feel like people are pretty dramatic lol. Campus lodge really isn't that bad! You get what you pay for! It's pretty affordable, big space, & close to Archer and all those stores! Haven't had any real problems living here for the past year and a half!

Emily S.

Yelp
I have lived here for two years and have never had any problems! The location and amenities are great for the price you pay. Maintenance is always quick to respond to service requests and the resident events are great as well.

Gaby L.

Yelp
WORSTTTTTT possible service from one person specifically, MORGAN. While I was addressing her about a VERY VERY IMPORTANT situation, she told me that " if I didn't have anything important/ that she actually cared to talk about that she was going to disconnect the call" ... Apparently the person attending you has to care about your situation to be able to fix a problem and she then followed by saying that she didn't care if my pet died.. I am in absolute awe. This apartment complex has been hiring a lot of new people and should do something about how their employees talk to customers. Definitely NOT signing here again!

Chris Y.

Yelp
Where do I even start... I could write a book on how much these people have wronged me. The short version: This has got to be the most poorly managed incompetent bunch of individuals I have ever had the displeasure of interacting with. My experience with campus lodge has been nothing short of awful. If you are looking for advice, don't do it. Don't sign a lease with these fools. I would rather be homeless than have to live in this trash heap. The details: My roommates and I are looking for a place that will let us pay a similar price to the dorms on campus with our own bedrooms. Campus lodge fits the bill, we sign a lease. No problem, right? We even signed early in the "leasing season" to ensure we got a spot and the building we wanted (we didn't). My first complaint begins before we even move in. I call the office early to make sure everything is in order, and lo and behold, they've changed management since we signed! So I have to provide all my details again. After that whole episode, we're excited and ready to move in. We get there and what next? Place is INFESTED with roaches. I'm talking every single wall, cabinet, ceiling, closet, shower, sink, appliance, e v e r y w h e r e. So we march down to the office to ask to be moved to a different unit or compensated for the place being, y'know, infested. Unfortunately, management informs us that the place is full to capacity and we can't be moved. So naturally, they compensated us for the inconvenience, right? Wrong. Not a single cent, no effort at all. On the upside, we were allowed document any issues with the unit upon move-in. So we made notes. If they try to blame us, we're covered. Anyway, since pest control only comes once a week, we had to buy supplies just to make the place inhabitable. But where would we stay until it was clean? Fortunately we had friends at apartments who don't treat their residents like dirt, so we stayed there for a week while we cleaned and de-infested the place. After all that, we were still seeing about 50 (that zero was not an accident) roaches every day. It took about a month before you could go a whole day without seeing one. A MONTH. We were in contact with management asking desperately for help. All we got were responses like "rain drives bugs inside." Sorry, but rain doesn't cause infestations. I attempted to email the manager, but no answer. The only way we got a response was for my mother to email them, which must have invoked some primal fear that wasn't there when it was just college kids trying to tell them that they'd done something wrong, and we received a response almost immediately. Very unprofessional. Campus Lodge can't actually be held liable for any of this. Must be nice. There's so much wrong it's not even funny. I'm gonna just list out everything since I've been forced to live here: Maintenance- incredibly slow to respond, loud, disruptive but probably the only people that actually saw our apartment and felt pity for us. Amenities- actually not bad, but that's also what they show you on the tour so it's not an accurate representation of the place. Pretty much the only good thing about this dump. Neighbors- I know this is out of control of management, but our neighbors are loud, unruly, stomp up the stairs, and smoke cigarettes constantly (which I'm pretty sure is not allowed per the rules). Lawn service- I have been woken up many times by the lawn service. They constantly work at early morning hours and blow dirt and grass onto my car. Speed bumps- would someone like to tell me why there are TEN speed bumps between the entrance gate and my building? It's maybe a fifth of a mile. Unnecessary. Every day I wish this nightmare would end. I've signed at University Club Apartments for the coming school year and I can't wait to see what they do. If they manage to be worse than Campus Lodge I'll be genuinely impressed. Nothing will ever compare to this experience. The only way they can make this better is by refunding me all of the rent that I've paid. Otherwise good riddance. I hope this place goes out of business.

Brian G.

Yelp
This place is the worst run apartment complex that I have ever seen. Don't waste your time and money look somewhere else. On move-in day the apartment my daughter moved into was disgusting. The rooms had thick dust build up like they haven't been cleaned in years. The air conditioner unit and filter were covered in dust and debris. I can't believe the unit was still operating. Mold in the bathrooms and the kitchen garbage disposal was broken so the sink wouldn't drain. The oven was filthy and set off the smoke alarm when it was used. My daughter has called, wrote letters and was told that they are understaffed to handle the amount of repairs needed. Over 1000 work orders currently.

Alex A.

Yelp
I've lived here for 3 years, and I would not recommend it to anyone. I can't believe they are actually raising rent prices when they are far af from campus, never have working gates, and have cheap old furniture in the apartments. Nothing inside the apartment is modern. They are very quick to charge fees for late rent, but very slow towards fixing the gates. If you go to the back gate you have to run around the car, put in your keycard, and run back to your car in time so the gate remains open. The showers constantly mold (not just mine, everyone I know here says the same thing.) The couch in the living room is cheap leather and creases and rips. In my apartment on the third floor, the tile is caving in. This is now a pet friendly apartment but I'm not sure that they do any pest control. Even though my dog is on a prescribed flea prevention medicine, when I walk outside I see fleas jumping on my legs. All of the furniture in the apartments is old and ugly, it really needs to be modernized especially if you wanna raise rent prices. What are residents incentives for paying a higher rent price? Also I want to add that the office staff is EXTREMELY RUDE.
