Hikkaduwa Beach Hideaway, Hikkaduwa, southwest coast, Sri Lanka - Explore & Book

"This mellow bungalow, hugging Hikkaduwa’s golden shores, is blissfully unpretentious. Within minutes of getting out of bed, we were on the sand, barefoot, watching the world wake up and boarders swooping through the sea. Wander a little further west and you’re in the heart of Hikkaduwa’s buzzy surf scene but, lured by the villa’s tranquility, we spent most of our time on the breezy veranda, diving into books, dipping in and out of sleep, and dining on impeccably presented meals prepared by the in-house chef.Set back from a sandy garden with a sapphire-blue pool and direct beach access, this simple yet stylish retreat for 4-6 is the handiwork of locally lauded interior designer Nayantara Fonseka, who also owns hideaways in Bentota and Mawella. This house is small yet perfectly formed, with 2 ensuite double bedrooms (both with sea views, air conditioning and space for extra beds or baby cots), plus a lounge attached to a small kitchenette. The easy-going home-from-home vibe attracts families and couples alike, looking to relax, surf and dive. And the superb home-cooked food is a huge bonus. Highs We loved sitting at the end-of-garden table, watching life on the beachNothing is too much trouble for the charming staff; they even arranged a surprise birthday dinner for us, complete with cake and candlesThe high-quality food blew us awaySurf breaks galore, plus historic towns, markets and turtle hatcheries nearbyThe board games and film collection make light work of rare rainy days Lows Some traffic noise, though the bedrooms don’t suffer too badlyThe pool area is unfenced and not very toddler-friendlyIf you’re tall, expect to stoop through the bathroom doorsThe sea can be quite choppy, though it’s generally safe for swimming between November and AprilThere's quite a hefty pre-payment" - Emma Boyle

We had an amazing stay at Hideaway Hikkaduwa with family and friends! The location is peaceful yet close to the beach, offering the perfect balance of relaxation and adventure. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well-designed, providing great comfort. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, always ready to help with anything we needed. The food was fresh and delicious, especially the breakfast. We also loved the beautiful pool and the overall cozy atmosphere of the hotel. If you're looking for a quiet and comfortable getaway in Hikkaduwa, this is the perfect place. Highly recommend!

We stayed for three nights at the Hideaway Hikkaduwa on our recent tour of Sri Lanka and could not have been happier with the service received. The hotel is very small (only around 5 rooms) but is situated on a much quieter and beautiful stretch of beach slightly out of town and away from the hustle and bustle of Hikkaduwa itself. The rooms are spacious and clean and although could be described as "no frills" are very good for the price. The owners are amazing and can not do enough to help you, many thanks! The breakfast is good with fresh fruit, coffee, fresh juices, toast/jam and a choice of eggs and the hotel had the best Wi-Fi we encountered on our whole trip (including much more expensive five star hotels). Overall would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful stay with great service on a quiet stretch of beach!

Together with my wife we have holiday at Hideaway Hikkaduwa hotel for 9 days. We very enjoyed our holiday here without any regrets.|Many thanks to manager of hotel Ileesha and his team who support our holiday.|The main advanages of hotel:|1) not far from the center of Hikkaduwa, its only 1,5km far from all entertainment, restaurants and shops. But at the same time here it is always calm, there is no usual resort noise in this hotel. |2) good green area around hotel which can save you from burning sun in midday.|3) the great breakfast |4) first line to ocean|5) very fast wi-fi

The staff are warm and friendly, and do their best to help you. The rooms are in need of some repairs and maintenance work. There is a motor pump to supply water to the rooms as needed. So everytime someone opens a tap or uses the flush, there is a resonating hum in the building, even in the middle of the night! You get used to it after the first night, and it is not too loud, but light sleepers may need ear buds. The beach is right in the backyard which is what this hotel is all about. The beach is lovely, not crowded, and clean, but not suitable for swimming due to 2-3m high waves. I've seen strong swimmers venture in. Breakfast was good and the cook was accomodating of our needs. The hotel is located 500m from the central part of the town where all restaurants are located and easily reachable by foot. All in all 5/5 for the beach, 4/5 for the staff's hospitality, 2/5 for the price worthiness. Update: The staff said renovations and reconstruction work is in progress and planned to complete in 4-5 months. I wish the staff all the best with the work. Hope it becomes a great hotel in that location.

Hotel is basic, only one room has air conditioning, beach outside is a little rough (waves) but very quiet out of season, short tuk tuk drive to centre or you can walk down the beach. The couple who run this place are so kind and friendly and their little girl is charming. Might not be here soon as plans to demolish and replace in discussion. If the boss is wise he should keep the couple as they were the nicest people we met in Sri Lanka

We stayed here for 10 days over Christmas. The couple that run the hotel are lovely and can organise transport and trips. Don't expect a lot from the internet. Basic accommodation and the power goes out quite a bit but it makes it more fun. Nice room with balcony view of the sea. Basic breakfast of tea, toast, eggs and fruit. If you want something just ask they can't do enough to help. The hotel is right on the beach through the garden within 20 steps. Beautiful.

The guesthouse is basic. Breakfast is basic (each day 3 pieces of toast, 1 egg and jam) and the tablecloths are smudgy. Rooms are clean and pretty big, as are the beds. They clean it every two days. They sell water bottles of 1l for 100 rupees where you can buy 1,5l and cooled for the same price. Also on our day of checkout we wanted to know of we could make use of an empty room (there were 2) to take a shower and put other clothes on. It was possible for another 30 USD.|| All in all, I have the feeling that the boss tries to get the most out of your pockets into his. For that I would give 3*, but I want to thank the family who serve you here with another star, because they are so helpful with everything, and very friendly. ||

The fellows take good care of you, and the beachfront is lovely. A welcome respite from the tourist town, which is a short walk or tuktuk ride away. An excellent place to wind down. Wifi can be a little spotty in the rooms.
