I showed up to Minneapolis around May 2012, from Michigan. Here for a contract job doing the Chemist career that has amounted to so much Jack s*, as I've become an adult.
I first went to HIFI in the week before starting a contract job at Medtronic, moving here from Michigan after a small (personally considered) unsuccessful move to Newport Beach, CA. I got found myself at HIFI because I wanted a fresh haircut for my new job and it was close to where I was currently renting a vacation spot (back in my new Midwest (I'm from Detroit suburbs, so I'm still enthralled with the city here))
For me, getting my hair cut is as much about the experience, about trust, about just getting me to think of myself as a person that looks good, as it is about anything. When I want a hot fuck, I send my girlfriend in to have my best stylists get her set up right :-)
The Location in Loring Park learnt "can I say 'learnt'?" me a lot about the city. Anyway, in the shadow of the great dome of the basilica, HIFI Highlights that (newbie thinks is secret) little neighborhood. And through my monthly (or six weeks, I'm a busy dude) communication with John I've found everything good about this city, even the riverfront downtown where I live for now.
Not to mention that the hair studio itself, with the Jukebox (all good music) and all the art on the wall, will one day be a tourist attraction in it's own right (especially if John suddenly dies). The shit's incredible, the music that always plays is incredible. There's even good beer. If you haven't checked it out, consider that you may be failing at life. Think about it. You get one, it's worth checking everything out and doing things best, right?
Oh, and the only people I seem able to make friends with are rock stars and unattainably hot women. This is my own thing that I need to figure out why and how it happens, but at least I've got a good haircut that's not fucking it up. I'm not a pretty man.
