Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens

It's a really nice zoo. Lots of animals. A monorail to see everything from up high. And an amusement park. Today we just walked around the Zoo and not the Gardens or amusement park areas. But the Zoo part was plenty as it was pretty humid and being a Sunday it was very busy. Even with the crowds most of the lines to see the animals moved quickly and swiftly. This is a great place for kids and families. Or on a date or by yourself as there's plenty to do and see.

This is my 2nd visit to this Amusement park & Zoo. The park was actually really busy, but today is a Sunday, so lots of families were out enjoying the Autumn sun. The ride and attraction area is very well kept with reasonable prices. I paid per ride and it worked out better as I only wanted to ride 5 attractions. There were plenty of vending machines, a gift shop and food. Be aware, it's very hilly with a lot of steps! I didn't go to the Zoo as I only visited for the Amusement park. Slope Shooter was the standout attraction, which is very unique, being the only one in the world I know of.

The whole area was wide and well-kept. There are cafés, lots of vending machines with cold and warm drinks, and some food carts inside the vicinity. I visited for the animals but I was pleasantly surprised when I enjoyed the botanical garden more.

This is an awful sham of a zoo. It's basically a circus. There is no regard for animal welfare here. Please avoid it at all costs. This does not meet international standards of animals welfare, especially as we are coming from New Zealand. The way the animals are kept is absolutely abhorrent. There's beautiful magestic creatures are kept in such tiny rundown cages. Even large animals such as their tigers, lions, bears, elephants and gorillas. There are 6 large seals kept in a tiny enclosure together, fighting for a place to sit outside of the water. This is absolutely a cruel and inhumane way to keep these animals. We walked around half of the zoo and just continued to be shocked and appalled. We couldn't bare to see the rest of it. If you have a heart and care for animals, this is not the place to come. I don't understand how this place has such a high rating. It is hell on earth for this beautiful creatures. Boycott this place. The people give this animal trap high ratings truly have no heart. It's animal abuse dressed up as a fancy park.

🌡️🥵🫠On a scorching day of 33°C, I had the incredible chance to see a polar bear at the zoo! It was fascinating to watch as this majestic creature jumped into the pool, playing toys, and splashing around 🐻. Super cute!!💛 Hopefully, people and caretakers always remember how important it is to consider wildlife well-being in environments that don't reflect their natural habitats, and care more about them. The staffs from the Zoo are nice.

Massive, need the entire day at least. We arrived at 10am and did not fit everything in by 4. Leave enough time. Massive array of animals and incredible value for 500!

Wonderful zoo worth spending about a half day. With amazing animals and well planned out enclosures. The ticket and souvenir prices were also really affordable. But I do find the ticket prices for the zoo monorail a bit of a scam.

I had a fantastic experience visiting Higashiyama Zoo! Compared to zoos around the Tokyo area, the entrance fee here is really affordable — only 640 yen for a combined ticket to the zoo and the Higashiyama Sky Tower. It’s a great deal for everything you get to see and do. One thing that really impressed me was how close you can get to the animals. You get a much more personal view compared to many other zoos. It made the experience very memorable! There’s also a nice food court area in the middle of the park with a good variety of restaurants, perfect for taking a break and enjoying a meal. The park is spacious, full of greenery, and has a relaxing atmosphere. The view from the lake area with the swan boats and the Sky Tower in the background was beautiful too. Highly recommend visiting if you’re in Aichi Prefecture — great for families, couples, or anyone who loves animals and nature!

Located in Nagoya, this is a large zoo and botanical garden. There is a lot of ground to cover, so give yourself enough time to enjoy the scenery. The price of admission is great. You can get a ticket for just the zoo at 500 yen, a ticket for the zoo and garden, or a ticket for the zoo, garden, and sky tower for 640 yen. There is a subway station that is right outside of the zoo, so it is easy to access.

Went to the Higashiyama Zoo with some friends for the first time this year...it's a great place to hangout pretty much all day. It's bigger than we expected; the food here are also amazingly tasty, curry with rice and desserts shaped in cute animals. For the cost it's worth it (about $5 in US to get in) and recommend taking kids or other family here, plenty indoor and outdoor animals to see along with areas to sit & relax. Go check this place out!!

Rhinoceros Lion Japanese serow Bear California sea lion Siamang Condors Hippopotamus Asian elephant Donkey Sumatran tiger Giraffe Koala Penguin Monkey Deer Zebra Kangaroo Tapir Green pheasant Crane and more! when you had argument with your wife, take her to here! she will be fine. ...what? your wife hate animals? don't worry! they also have botanical garden! there are many beautiful flowers like you! if you said so to your wife, its gonna be alright. ....what? your wife hate going out with you? dont worry! you cant do anymore! you dont neet to worry about it! it has already end! just broke up! you can be free! heehe

Overall the zoo has a good core structure but has a lot to do to become truly world class. The variety of animals was fantastic but their exhibits needed a lot of work. If you're visiting to see a lot of animals and get a view of some botanical gardens this is for you. If you're wanting to practice your photography or are used to AZA/CAZA certified zoos in North America you will be sorely disappointed.
