Where to Stay in London When You Visit (Updated 2025)

"Near London South Bank University and the Tate Modern, this midrange hotel offers great value with big beds, soft linens, strong shower pressure, weekday access to a Fitness First gym, and a classic English pub that hosts small musical acts." - Matthew Kepnes

My experience with the highbridge hotel was excellent in the past . Until yesterday visit unfortunately it was not very pleasant. The highbridge hotel is very clean and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The breakfast is delicious. But however during this visit things has changed. I have stayed in this hotel numerous times. The staff is also very nice. But however during this visit i stayed in room 118. It was uncomfortable do to the room having fruit flies. The damn fruit flies didn't let me enjoy my sleep. To the point I walked out and slept in my car. Someone from the hotel needs to please take care of the issue with the fruit flies. Before it becomes a infestation. This is one of the best hotels in the bronx.

We stayed 3 nights in a room for 4 people. The room smelt lovely and was very clean on arrival. It was cleaned everyday by the maid who was very professionnal and accomodating. Reception desk staff was great and breakfast staff also. The hotel has a roof top with a view on the traditional buildings ( outside staircase) and is close to the Yankee Stadium and 167th metro station. The surrounding area is ok but do not let your guard down, there are a few shady people hanging around the barber shops and the metro station. All in all, I recommend this hôtel.

Both me and my adult son from London, UK, wanted to stay 5 days in NYC rather than commute and chose this hotel in the Bronx. We were bit unsure about its location. However it turned out the location was good, less than 10 min walk to a metro that takes you into the centre of New York. Also about 20 mins walk to the Yankee stadium. Both myself and son felt safe walking. It's busy during the day and at night with the local shops and people. Most days we are back in the Hotel by 8pm. I did notice a hotel staff at hotel entry door at night time which was also a good thing. |Friendly and professional staff, twin room was clean , good size for two and had basic stuff expected in a budget hotel. Towels were provided, decent size shower room and toilet. Room location was quiet , our room was on the street side , as I like looking out of the window to see day unfolding.|Breakfast was good too, clean dining area space , partitioned off from reception, typically American breakfast, hot food , cooked right before your eyes, also fruits , self service hot and cold drinks from a drinks machine.||I will recommend the hotel for a no frills, value for money, safe choice , safe environment .

We came to NYC for a quick road trip adventure .. Thanks to the reviews left by other travellers we chose the Highbridge for our stay. Rooms were exceptionally clean , the front desk clerks were incredibly friendly and so helpful.. Definitely a no frills hotel but you did feel well Taken care of and everything was so clean .. they have gated parking which was a bonus for us (30$ night) and we felt safe knowing they lock the main hotel doors after 9pm only accessible by key .. location was a block and half to the 167th subway line ..breakfast was OK - not amazing tho - but The New York bagels were the greatest and were individually wrapped keeping them at heir freshest -

We thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Highbridge Hotel in the Bronx. From the moment I arrived, the staff went out of their way to be welcoming, kind, and attentive, which really set the tone for a pleasant visit. Their friendliness and helpfulness made a big difference throughout my stay. The hotel’s location is very convenient, and the value for money is excellent. Overall, it was a comfortable and positive experience, and I would be happy to return.

4.5 stars. Stayed here for 4 nights in a King Suite. The service was excellent, and the location is ideal. It's also very affordable compared to other similar hotels. The hotel is conveniently located near the metro, with pharmacies and small supermarkets close by. We also never felt unsafe in the area, and the people around were very friendly. There's also a recently opened desert store next door, that's perfect for a late treat. It takes about 30–40 minutes to reach downtown via the metro. The room was incredibly clean, and housekeeping came in daily to clean both the room and bathroom—even without being requested. Towels and sheets were changed every day. Complimentary coffee and tea are available unlimited, and breakfast is served fresh and hot each morning. One thing to note is that a $100 deposit is required upon check-in. If you use a debit card, it may take up to a month to be refunded. I removed half a star because the room didn’t have a wardrobe. While hangers and a wall-mounted hook were provided, the lack of a proper wardrobe was slightly inconvenient. Overall, we had a great stay, and the hotel experience definitely made our trip more enjoyable.

I recently stayed from June 5th - 8th to celebrate my bachelor trip, the highlight being the Yankees game, them being so close to the stadium was the reason I chose to stay there. The walk takes about 15 minutes but if you hop on the 4 Train you will get there in about 2 minutes. The Hotel is well let lit outside and the staff consistently cleans the rooms while you are enjoying the city. Rooms are simple yet modern, would recommend this hotel for anyone looking to enjoy a Yankees game. The neighborhood is full of proud Puerto Ricans who are very friendly and love the Yankees. Recommend Jerome's Belly Deli a they make a great bacon, egg and cheese roll and Italian panini. As well as have toiletrees for your convenience. If you are landing in LaGuardia, would recommend taking an uber as taking public transit can be tight and long with all the stops according to our Apple Maps. I only recommend an uber when you arrive and leaving for the airport. Since the 4 Train is down the street and the trains take credit cards via tap, it makes getting to the other boroughs easy. Overall, I had a great time and would recommend the Highbridge Hotel.

The location is great. Just down the road to the subway. I stayed 3 nights and the price was great. The building and rooms are very clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Parking is first come first serve, but I had no issue with getting a spot when I went. My only gripe is no microwave in my room.

Yelp
The hotel was nice and clean and the reception and cleaning staff were amazing. The breakfast wasn't all that good. Tried the oatmeal and it was cold and tasted powdery like they took a bunch of the packets and added water. So I settled for tater tots and the mini pieces of bacon they served.

Yelp
The hotel itself is ok... but overpriced. No pool..no hot tub for $269 a night!? The surrounding area is ghetto! Garbage all over...graffiti...and dead rats on the sidewalk! Drug addicts, too. Only a 15 minute walk to Yankee Stadium.

Yelp
Highbridge hotel is super close to Yankee stadium, either walking or by subway. They do have parking for $30/day and if available you can request to pay the $30 for parking even when you check out. The room was clean, the staff was friendly and we lived the roof top! It's very close to the subway station.
