Celebrated a birthday here a week ago. As per reviews from others, the views were truly spectacular. If you come here for the scenery and set reasonable expectations for the food and service, this is easily a 5-star venue for special occasions.
A few suggestions for management to consider:
1. Minimum Spend Adjustment: Consider increasing the minimum spend for window seats to $250 per person and for other seats to $150 per person. From my observation, guests at the window seats were mostly celebrating special occasions and their spending definitely exceeded the current $150 per person minimum. However, the tables behind the window, with a much lower minimum spend of $50 per person, attracted rowdier crowds. Their loud conversations and even a broken plate during our visit disrupted the ambiance. While this isn’t the restaurant’s fault, it does affect the experience for those who choose Highhouse for its atmosphere.
2. Service Consistency: Service could be more consistent. I appreciated the multiple messages the day before confirming my peanut allergy, but was surprised that the final resolution was simply that no accommodations would be made if I ordered a dish containing peanuts. Additionally, the staff did not initially note our birthday celebration, but our waiter that evening (an Indian gentleman) made up for it by providing both a sparkler and a complimentary slice of chocolate cake when we inquired about sparklers seen at other tables.
3. Food Quality: The steak was unevenly cooked, slightly overdone on the edges and rare in the centre. This suggests an inexperienced chef, but I appreciated that our request for a more charred exterior was accommodated.
Overall, this is a place I would revisit and I hope it continues to improve on the already strong value it provides.
