Although I reside quite far from this location, I make it a point to visit whenever possible. I take pride in this Canadian family-operated business and highly recommend it to all residents of Mississauga.❤️🍁 For those in search of an authentic shopping experience characterized by courteous and knowledgeable staff, as well as an opportunity to educate children about the origins of their food, this is the ideal destination. In stark contrast to the Costco chain, which prioritizes lower prices through bulk purchasing—often leading to spoilage—this establishment offers a more curated selection in a less crowded environment, making it more accessible for individuals with disabilities and families with young children. Large retail chains typically lack the friendly and personalized customer service that many shoppers desire. Should Highland Farm ever cease operations, it would represent a significant loss for our culture and the Mississauga community.

Holy beans! You'd be forgiven for walking into Highland Farms and mistaking it for an aircraft hanger! (Heck, i'm someone who HAS ended up at an airfield by mistake, so it CAN happen). Place is HUGE! They got like, 500 check out lanes (or... 20, whose counting), all of the carts (even the ones with little cars for the kids to drive in), EVERY Pringle (except for the cool Korean import ones), more Franks Hot Sauce than you can shake a wiener at, heck, if you cleared out the cola tent, you could probably live in there comfortable with no one noticing for 3 months easy! The cheese island is surrounded by a meat peninsula that extends WAY down the store, the bakery section could run 5 lanes of professional Olympic level fencing matches at a time, and when you think you're done... theres more: chocolate shop, beer store, flowers, cafe... and phones! ...PHONES!!! So what else can be said: Highland Farms! It's... it's a grocery store.

This has been my favorite grocery store, my family has been shopping here for almost 30 years. It was always immaculately clean, had a wonderful selection of fresh produce, apples from their own orchards, bakery items, amazing fresh meat from their own farms, cheeses, and so much more. This was a one-stop-shop where I could go to get anything I needed. I loved coming here just to walk around and browse all the neatly placed/organized items. I am so sad that this wonderful store is closing, it will truly be missed and irreplaceable. Thank you Highland Farms for serving the community throughout all these years❤️

It’s one of my favourite grocery store in a Mississauga. It’s a huge store with large selections of everything. For example check out their tea selections you will understand what I saying/ Great selections of bake goods, fresh fruit and vegetables. Store is always super clean including their washrooms. I love the way how the shelf’s are stocked with goods. Especially the fruits and vegetables. I can’t get enough of the pastries and cakes. Oh my goodness. I love their cheese cakes. Huge selections of coffee. If you are in the area check them out and don’t forget your cheesecake.

It saddens me to say but don't waste your time or money going to this Highland Farms. They are obviously slowly closing their doors permanently. The produce is expensive and less than desirable. I was at the store on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the store had maybe ten customers. There were two cashiers open and neither of them had customers. It was depressing to say the least. How can a store this big maintain freshness and quality without customers? The most frustrating part was that I was looking to buy a turkey for Thanksgiving. When I asked the butcher where the turkeys are he said they were sold out. What? It's the Wednesday before Thanksgiving weekend and they didn't have ONE turkey. Not fresh or frozen! Don't waste your time. Shelves are half empty and the prices are super expensive. It's sad. I used to love this store.

This grocery store is really huge and clean. At first, we were very surprised to see that they have almost an entire row dedicated to pastries and cakes, so those with a sweet tooth won't run out of choices. Additionally, they offer a wide selection of products, including baked goods, deli items, vegetables, and fruit. They also have an ice cream shop, a flower shop, and a wine shop. If you're feeling tired or hungry, they even have a café. Everything looks fresh, but the prices are quite expensive.

Wonderful customer service from the floral shop! Ask for Ann, she is consistently carries a wonderful vision and has creativity beyond expectations. This is the primary reason why we always come back to Highland farms, not only for the service that goes above and beyond but their wonderful array of flowers as well! :)

I’ve been going to highland for almost 10 years. A great, local option for a grocery store. I appreciated that Highland prioritized stocking Canadian goods, and it was simply the best bakery and deli counter in the city. Also friendly staff. A huge loss to the community with the announcement that it will be closing - thank you highland for always being a pleasant grocery store and you will be missed!

CHEAT or DIET?: CHEAAATTTT Ok I'd like to foreword that I'm only reviewing the pistachio cake from Highland Farms. Now let me tell you about this cake. Is it moist? Yes. Is sweet? Absurdly yes. Is it worth it? If it fits in your macros, then yes. This cake is delicious and cheap. I ain't gunna lie. It's like if Wonderful Pistachios married a twinkie. This cake was $28 + tax. Definitely great for parties and not for eating yourself . it's definitely on the sweeter side, so I wouldn't share with your Asian moms. They're going to complain it's too sweet. But overall pretty good if you're bulking or don't care about calories. Shoutout to the cake people. Their service is great and nice, and they even decorate the cake box with ribbons. The cashiers leave much to be desired, but I guess this isn't Costco lol. Ambiance feels like a European grocery store at the size of a warehouse store. Calories (1 slice): ~402 cals Fat: 21g Carb: 49g Protein: 5g

Stopped by for a quick healthy easy lunch. Was looking for chicken salad or tuna salad or even a smoked fish dip. Nope. Nothing. Deli had hot food and cold salads but no protein based salads. Ended up getting a small premade pasta salad, a trio of hummus, and prepackaged grilled chicken breast strips. Nothing was great. Looks like they have a plentiful produce section and a bakery. Aside from that, less than optimal grocery store. I would not recommend stopping here if you shop at other places. If this is your usual spot, you already know what's good/bad about it. Bring your own bag or buy one when you check out. Bathrooms are near checkout, they're decent. Plenty of parking on both sides of the store.

I love Highland Farms. It is fairly close to my workplace and I've stopped here countless times to grab either groceries for home or treats for a co-worker in honour of their birthday. The pastry case at Highland Farms is out of control awesome. There are cases upon cases upon cases of delectable sweet delights. I've picked up so many different items from here - gourmet cupcakes, macrons, cakes, etc and all have been fresh and delish. I believe they do bake some treats in store but some come from other vendors such as Dufflet and La Rocca. Highland Farms also offers lots of interesting foodstuffs from the around the world I've personally never seen before but love to try. I had a lot of fun zipping around the store right before the holidays finding items for my in-laws and their family to enjoy. Random tip: if you've never tried Herdez salsa, grab yourself a jar or two if you stop in. This is hands down my favourite jarred salsa of all time and can be super hard to find for some reason. This is a huge store with plenty of free parking and lots of shopping buggies. There are many departments with large selections to satisfy your own taste; a Cafe, Chocolate, Bakery, Wine & Beer, Flower, Meat, Butcher, Seafood, Bakery, Grocery, Fruit & Vegetables (organic too), etc. Loss leader weekly flyer prices are fairly competitive to get you in the door but you're going to pay a little more overall. It's a treat to come here for the experience even if it's just once. I love the bakery department! Staff are very helpful and courteous, plus checkout is quick.

This is a time warp to the 90s! Everything about Highland Farms screams 90s to me, there is even a vintage Laura Secord. I don't know if the photos really convey the absolutely massive size of this place. Frankly I don't know how they stay in business with that much food to sell. Coming here is really a trip. I love their selection of gluten free cakes. They also have an amazing cart with a car for little ones to sit. The car is attached to the front of the cart which makes the whole contraption huge but my toddler loved it! They do an end of day 2 for 1 pizza slice in the bakery area which is pretty awesome. I haven't really used the store as a go to for general groceries but really enjoy grabbing snacks here due to the massive selection.

XXL International grocery store which has a bit more of a Mediterranean slant. They have a huge produce section, carry lotsa gourmet/niche items (a cook's/entertainer's heaven!), large quantities of things like olives/feta cheese, plus they have a HUGE meat/deli + in-house bakery counters. Their oversized plant section looked a bit sad as there were quite a few clinging-onto-dear-life plants in a clearance section. It seems as though customers are people who live in the area as opposed to purposely drive here 'cause it is in a bit of an industrial area, less than 10mins north of Square One. Prices are a bit difficult to generalise. Sale items are well-priced, regular grocery store items like cereal/chips are a bit on the high side, while import, European items like bottles of olives/sardines can be cheaper than chain grocery store. I'm not sure how they're doing 'cause honestly, each time that I've been in there, it's been pretty DEAD. Size of actual store doesn't really justify the amount of customers they get. However, some people, like me, may find this to be an advantage because I enjoy my personal space and being able to find parking!

Excellent and very helpful... the whole staff and customer service are top notch. The meat counter staff are very helpful and friendly. They give advice and really listen to the customer.

Wow I am disappointed to read about racism at this store. I am deducting a point to read something so distressing and hope that the report and review is wrong, but if not shame on the imbeciles being bigoted. I like this supermarket. It is huge and stocks a large variety of goods. The produce and frozen sections are large. They even sell Laura Secord chocolates. Due to its size one does not feel cramped and the wider aisles make for a more human experience. With that said, they have the same ugly fluorescent lights as any other place and boy do I hate those. They have not installed those job killing and complex self-check outs like the Loblaw stores so kudos to them. That is a win for Canadian jobs! Sorry American and Japanese vendors! The store is supposedly open at 7:00 am, but a customer was telling me they open their doors a good fifteen minutes before! Not quite a twenty-four-hour Sobeys, but not bad either.

Quite a large supermarket with plenty of options in terms of groceries. However, we decided to give it a skip for two major reasons. Contaminated Food: We bought a packet of rice from the place and noticed some bugs inside the packet (still sealed) after reaching home. When we went back to return it and one of the staff members directed us to the customer service counter. When we reported it, the lady just took it and processed the refund. In our earlier such experiences with other retailers - generally the staff shows an iota of concern and have a basic decency to apologize in such cases - but no such behavior from the folks here which shows how seriously they take food contamination issues. Rude Staff: Two instances (one quoted above) of rude staff behavior was enough to cross off Highland Farms from our grocery shopping options. The bakery staff has also shown very rude behavior - if you do not have the chit in your hand (i.e. if you haven't purchased anything), they don't even look at you to see if you have any questions etc on their products. They aren't getting my business in future for sure.

It's most likely the best grocery shopping experience you can have in GTA. This place is clean... I mean really clean, the aisles are very spacious, inside is bright, noise level is quiet... overall it's a totally different experience comparing to most of the other grocery stores. They have a great selection of items, wide variety and good quality. The vegetables and fruits are really fresh and high quality. Yes, their prices are a bit high than other grocery stores, but need to keep in mind that quality has its premium :-) If you don't mind paying a little extra to have good quality items and a better shopping experience (not crampy isles, not dirty floors and buggies, not hammered by loud noises, not have to wrestle with the crowd)... then it's the place for you.

Just wow...it puts any American grocery to shame.. I'm staying nearby in a hotel..went for a walk..just the kielbasa section gave me a heart attack..lol..meats...bakery oooo..I wound up buying honey crisp apples..kielbasa and some cranberry artisan rolls for the room...cant wait for breakfast...lol A must

If you love your fruit and Veg. This is the store for you. Also meat counter is HUGE. The store is very clean well stocked. Prices a bit more then Nofrills. But there quality is much better.

In in awe of this supermarket! Excellent quality control! Everything is neat, clean and tidy! The aisles are wide. Shopping is so convenient! I love the freshness of the fruits and greens! They have spray mists for their veggies. They also have a huge selection of everything but most especially the fruits and greens! Parking is also huuge!!! Love it!!! The staff are friendly and efficient.

My mother must have been watching 'The Devil Wears Prada' last night on CBC. She went all 'Miranda' on me. I had about a bazillion (math was never my forte) things to do for her today. I had to pick up my aunt from her office today at 5:30. Also, I had to pick up some groceries (God forbid if my Dad doesn't have a salad with his steak dinner). Being in the middle of Toronto, getting to the 401 and Hurontario could take anywhere from twenty minutes to twenty days. I left early anticipating bumper-to-bumper traffic on the 401. Today it took me a surprising thirty-three minutes to get out to 'Sauga. I had a lot of time to kill so decided to pick up the groceries at the closest supermarket. Highland Farms is H U G E with a crazy amount of variety. They must have over 20 brands of olive oil. I found a lot of items (a lot from various European countries) that I haven't seen at my local Metro. It's clean and spacious. Don't forget to bring a quarter though ... buggy-less and carrying a lot of groceries is not fun. My local Metro has a lot of professional employees, but there are also a lot of employees who hate their job (and make it obvious). Everyone working at Highland Farms seem to enjoy what they're doing and take pride in their work. This really impressed me. It is completely out of my way so I doubt that it'll be my regular supermarket. However, a wise man (boy? man? boy?) by the name of Justin Bieber once said, 'never say never.' Who knows? If gas becomes affordable, I might have to visit this place again.

I love this place.... A little expensive then other groceries but the place is huge and clean. What I love about this place is their cake collection as they have a bakery section and they make cakes everyday. There are different sizes and they write anything you like, if their is no space they write it on a ribbon. Their other bakery stuff is good as well such as croissants. The Bakery staff is great and have good writing skills. There is plenty of parking in front entrance and back entrance. There is a coffee shop, flower shop and a candy shop inside the store.

Something is not right. Been a long time since I've bought anything at the bakery. Not the same pastries they had when they opened. The canoli's were the best in town, now I think I rate them as the worst. Zeppolle are crap too. They had good stuff, not any more. Everything is stale and old. Going to St. Philip's in Maple down the street. Way better.

*THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE RESTAURANT* There's a lot of businesses in the area, and what's more convenient than a fast cafeteria nearby! Yes, it is a serving area with proper seating. Thought of this as like, but steps above my high school cafeteria, without the angry lunch lady/lack of windows/bland food. There are many hot/cold drinks, pizza, and other lunch fare. I enjoyed lasagna with two vegetable sides combo'd for around $10. It's a hidden gem alternative among fast food chains in the area.

This is the King of all grocery stores. Don't talk to me about Whole Foods unless you make 6 figures a year. This place has the freshest produce and widest selection I have seen in the GTA. Imagine a farmers market on a larger scale inside a grocery store and you have Highland Farms. Their cheese and deli section is on point, along with their butcher section where workers follow health and safety procedures accordingly,with specific staff handling polutry, beef, pork etc. They have a wide selection of breads and pastries within their bakery section including Gryfes bagels which may be difficult to find in Sauga. They also have a takeout hot table section near the cashiers and ice cream parlour with Laura Secord Ice cream to cater to office workers and parents with children craving something sweet. Check this place out! Tip: Try the proscuitto and arugula pizza slice. Dont ask them to warm it up, it wilts the greens. Great snack while your shopping!

I've recently started going here because a friend recommended it. The prices are slightly higher than your discount grocery stores like No Frills, Food Basics, Freshco and Wal-mart but not as expensive as a Metro or Fortinos. What I really like about this place is their huge fruit selection, huge butcher section, huge bakery and huge parking lot. The fruit and vegetable section is always fresh and they have some unique fruits such as soursop and cactus pears. All in all, this is a place you can rely on for reasonably priced groceries without the parking lot hassle.

I have recently been looking for a new supermarket. I love the fact that a lot of places have stepped up their game in terms of cleanliness. Customer service however still tends to be poor. I'm thinking of places like the big chances. Lovely atmosphere but I'd rather not deal with the crabby workers. I've been going to Highland Farms on Matheson for about 2 months and I have not had any problems. The place is huge and well-organized. They have all sorts of additional offerings as well like a full bakery with cakes (I don't eat cake but it's a good thing). Produce has always been of a high quality and, most importantly to me, the staff has been friendly and helpful. Customer service is a lost art. I'm willing to applaud good service when I encounter it.

When you walk in, the horrid green colour hits you like a wet tea towel across the face, and you end up trying to dodge the horrid colour and it just keeps coming back, and coming back. I find it a disturbing, retina detaching, skin crawling colour. The selection - oh yeah - it can be there - depending on what you are looking for. The meat section - holy molly - is huge. I did the test of all tests and looked at their deli. Fail - only commercial prosciutto. They did have my favourite olive oil, but it was a few bucks more expensive than at a Loblaws chain. Overall - this place is huge (very much like an old Knob Hills Farm) and does have some vast selection, but with the uncomfortable decor and high prices, I will not be returning.

The best grocery store in GTA! Way better than all the other chain stores in terms of selection, freshness, cleanliness, shopping atmosphere, etc. It is not very close to my home, but I go there for groceries whenever possible. Please, stay in the business!!!

Highland Farms has been in my grocery rotation for a few years. If I'm desperate for a specific Italian product and I'm in the area, I will pop into here. It's expensive for what you get but it is reliably good quality. The place is huge when you're comparing it to Starsky and Michaelangelo. Those are the other 2 big European supermarkets in GTA West. I find HF to be better than your average chain like Metro but the prices are substantially more. With a heavy emphasis on Italian products, you have over 9 aisles dedicated to olive oil, pasta, canned tomato and sauces, and espresso & coffee. The vegetable and fruit selection is better than Starsky but I find HF less fresh than Michaelangelo and Starsky. The butcher area is very good. Lots of selection and good quality. I was unimpressed with their pastry and cakes. They tasted stale and I think they're overpriced. Service is good as I've never had to wait long. Though this isn't my first choice for groceries, I wouldn't avoid this place and grab the occasional item.

Located a few minutes away from where I work, highland farms is a convenient place for me to stop and pick up groceries on my way home. The store is pretty empty around 5pm, which makes getting in and out quick. There are two entrances, one facing Hurontario and another on the opposite side of the building. A long row of cashiers line the space in between the two entrances. I have no idea why they need so many, I assume it's packed on the weekends. The wide aisle spacing means you don't have to squeeze in between someone's cart and the racks, like in some of the discount stores. Their produce selection has a fair amount of variety and ample quantities of product. I'd rank them among longos for quality, which is one of the better grocery chains around. Their gluten free section is quite extensive, carrying the most GF pasta varieties I've ever seen at a chain store. Actually their entire pasta section encompasses two sides of an entire aisle! Their meat and dairy section lines a whole wall side of the store and is filled with an abundance of fresh pack as well as butcher cut meats. Variety wise I think this place is tops for European foods for Asian, T&T or Oceans easily beats them out. Their prices are pretty expensive even when compared to Loblaws. So I'd recommend sticking to No Frills/Freshco for the essentials. But if you're looking for some more obscure items or fresh cuts of meat and highland farms is around, it's a good option.

If you are buying poultry from the loose end from the attendant, please think. Highland farm takes the pre-packaged poultry packs that are to expire next day or same day and put into the glass shelves as it can be readily sold to aspiring customers who go to the glass shelves to buy what ever quantity they need loosely. Such clean kept place had bad habits like this. I had many times taken poultry back saying it was not good. Now I find another place where I can buy good poultry (chicken) which is fresh and excellent quality. I no longer buy poultry here. Be aware!

I totally agree with the previous review that this is "the king of all grocery stores" and that Whole Foods has nothing on this. In terms of quality, this is top of the line. In terms of quantity, it can't be beat. So many selections, and no matter which aisle or section of the store you go to you'll find something you want and need and more. I thought Loblaws had a great cheese selection, for instance, until I went to Highland Farms. The thought of coming here excites me. It's slightly pricier than the average, but it really is the best grocery store in town, in my opinion.

Good quality grocery store. Lots of staff and rarely wait in line for a cashier to be available. Also love the fact that no self checkout are in place here. Kudos to management. Meat and bakery are the highlight of this great store.

I usually hate grocery shopping. Most other grocery stores are crowded, loud, and it's just a stressful experience in general. That's why Highland Farms is my go-to store. Plenty of parking, very clean store, and a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. It's also well-staffed, and they're all very professional, helpful, and friendly. The selection of food is great. The prices are higher than "cheap" stores like No Frills, but not as high as others like Loblaws, it's a good middle ground.

I've always had a good shopping experience here. Except for one time a younger guy at meat counter was going out of his way to help get ne a smaller cut of roast and his superior gave him crap right in front of me. The store is extremely good for variety and clean. I like that there are older staff and i see that they are working throughout the store. Not like other places where you see staff in aisles or registers on cell phones, drinking and eating behind counters on duty and such. So far great experiences here. It is a bit far but worth the drive to get what i want and have a good shop.

Highland is the best place to shop, not really more expensive than the no frill stores. but the vegetables and fruits are always super fresh, higher quality products overall and the prices are decent If you haven't shopped this store try it you'll Love it ....

I only shop here for the deserts AND THERE ARE LOTS OF THEM. Freshly made desserts. Cheesecakes, eclairs pastries oh my goodness. It's cake heaven. My fav... Mini eclairs and a slice of strawberry shortcake.

Gabe T. As another shopper, I'm not crazy about that green colour either but we've been going to that store ever since we discovered it many years ago. And we live about 80kms away.... Almost every time we have business in Toronto we use any excuse to go there and pick from the thousands of things they sell - very little of those are carried anywhere in our area. The store is huge, but it is sparkling clean, room around to move, the produce, meat-, dairy- and bakery products are FRESH and plentiful with astounding variety. Oh, there is never shortages in parking places around the store - though it is quite a walk from the farthest corner of the lot if you happen to find place only there. Well, quality has its price and accordingly, this store is not comparable to No Frills or FreschCo or other discount grocery stores - but it is worth shopping there. Except for colour-sensetive individuals....
