Azerbaijan Itinerary: 1 & 2-Week Routes for First-Time Visitors

"Sitting at the highest point in town, Upland Park offers excellent views of Baku and an easy option to reach the summit is the funicular—just be warned that the funicular's hours can change without notice." - Matthew Kepnes

Highland Park is a peaceful and scenic spot in Baku with beautiful views of the city. The area is clean, well-maintained and perfect for walking or relaxing. It’s a nice place to enjoy fresh air and take photos, recommended everyone who came Baku for a tour must visit this place.

Place is amazing. You get a superb view of the city. The climb might be an issue but take your time, view is worth it. Make sure to carry a jacket or a sweater for strong wind.

Breathtaking at the sunset and sunrise hour. At night it lights up in the colors of the flag. Loved the walk to the flame tower, quite steep must say. Cabbed back. Cab to old town would cost about 15 AZN Enjoy

Spectacular view if Caspian sea and the Baku city coast line below. Signsture views of the Flame Towers which are on top of the hill as well. You can walk up the hill (stairs or road) or take the funicular. As many have mentioned, the sunset views with the Flame Buildings is not to be missed (just kind of busy). The Eternal Flame at the top along Martrys' Line commemorating Black January was kind of a bonus...another traveler told me about it

What a view - we went up at day and night and it really is breathtaking. The only reason it doesn't score 5 stars is that we took the funicular up the mountain and still had to walk up and down about 200 steps!! It's like they put the end in the wrong location - when you get there the view is completely obscured by trees and you need to go down 2 flights of stairs, up 2 flights and then down 1 and up another 2 (or something like that!!). Not friendly to those with mobility issues, but if you can make it you should!!

We visited Highland Park in the afternoon when it was quite hot in Baku, but surprisingly, it felt much cooler up there. Since it’s located on a high hill, the fresh air and plenty of trees made it a perfect escape from the heat. The park offers stunning panoramic views of the city, Flame Towers, and the Caspian Sea. It’s especially beautiful around sunset or at night when the city lights shine. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing. The park is very clean, well-organized, with shaded areas, benches, and lots of greenery. You can visit historical landmarks like Martyrs' Alley and the eternal flame, making it both a scenic and meaningful place. Highly recommended if you're in Baku — whether you want a peaceful walk, some great photos, or a quiet moment with a view.

Loved the experience here. You can see the flame towers so close, and the fire is a view to behold in itself. You can see the whole city from the top and it looks mesmerizing. Every shot from this place looks like a postcard. The wind is fierce so I suggest taking a light jacket at least. I heard many people complain about the stairs, but it's not bad tbh. You can take rests and click pictures on your way to the top. Highly recommend.

Highland Park in Baku is a beautiful place to visit. The view of the city and the Caspian Sea from the top is amazing. The park is clean, peaceful, and perfect for walking or taking pictures. You can also see the Flame Towers clearly from there. It’s one of the best spots to enjoy sunset in Baku. Definitely worth visiting!
