Lovely dinner at Highlands. Food was delicious and our waitress Rosie is a star!

While our server was wonderfully friendly, professional and very helpful, unfortunately there was nothing they could do to fix experience of the terrible food. The entrees (king fish & short ribs) were devoid of taste, my main (fish) was so overcooked I didn’t finish it. My husband’s meal wasn’t much better but wasn’t overcooked just under seasoned and not as tender as a slow cooked meat dish should be). When we politely let them know about our meals, the server was lovely and offered dessert or a drink on the house but we declined as we just wanted to leave. Very disappointing, so much so that we cancelled our booking for the following night.

Look, it was marketed as a fine dining restaurant... it just wasn't 5 star food, definitely not worth the price. Sorry. The beef main was good. However, I do not recommend the crab or duck entrees. I do not recommend the lamb main either. The cocktails were delicious yet overpriced. The staff were very polite. The room and decor were lovely.

Great place to fill up your tummy before you start hiking in the mountains. We had breakfast for two days at the restaurant and although they give preferences to people staying at the lodge, they did accommodate us for both days. The views from hotel are stunning and we loved sipping coffee sitting near the pond. The all you can eat menu has plenty of options for vegetarians.

Quality meals can be hard to find in isolated areas of Tasmania but Highland Restaurant was an exception. Good variety on the menu, excellent table service by the friendliest wait staff ever who were a source of knowledge about the local area and native animals that wondered around the lodge. I highly recommend.

Ordered a 2 course meal. For starters ordered a kingfish sashimi which was ok, not wowed but still quite good. Highlight was the market fish - really hit the spot! $85 seems quite pricey for a 2 course meal but seems to be how much every place charges around here.

Food was good for a tourist destination but a bit pricy. Dinner was $80 per person for two course and $95 for three course. They did have complementary small starter dish and complementary palate cleansing sorbet. We waited outside for seven minutes because they didn’t realise the door was locked from inside.

Great experience, price match the full experience. Staff members remarkable.
