Highland Restaurant

Restaurant is fabulous and the service is wonderful. Cradle Mountain Lodge is not in the middle of Sydney or Melbourne, so please don't expect a three-hat formal restaurant. What you will get, though, is an outstanding experience with lovely food, drinks and open fire ... and a view to remember out onto the little lake (with resident platypus or three, who quietly go about their business). We've dined at the restaurant a few times over the last 10 years, but this visit was better than we remember. The staff were wonderful, and a particular mention of Femke and Maarten (from Belgium) who were the nicest staff you could want to serve you during a nice meal. Their manner was super friendly, genuine and professional. Always fabulous to chat with travelling restaurant staff from other countries and find out a bit about them. They were simply amazing! All-in-all a fabulous experience.

Enjoyed delightful, personal service and lovely dishes with excellent taste combinations. The warm fire was cosy. Exceeded expectations. Perfect after a day of Cradle Mountain activity. Pre-booked. I noted that bookings on the day were not being accepted.

Enjoyed Xmas lunch. Excellent range of food in a buffet style. Seafood was outstanding in particular. Service was inconsistent. Some excellent, others just fillins. Expect more for the Peppers price. Billed as a fine dining experience but not a fine dining experience however still charged at fine dining prices.

Lovely dinning room overlooking pond. Staff are terrific, friendly and attentive. Dishes are very good. Enjoyed vatiety of selections to choose from. Appreciated wine list and glass options including Tasmanian choices.

We had a 3 course meal from a very new menu, and were amazed at every dish and beverage. Everything is beautifully presented, and felt like something you couldn’t find anywhere else (let alone at the top of a mountain). Very delicious and full of depth. There are plenty of VE/DF/GF options but also plenty for more carnivorous types. They also give you extra exquisite snacks that are called certain French words that I won’t pretend to know. The atmosphere of the restaurant was relaxing, with soft piano, a warm fireplace and warmer smiles. Big thanks to Cassey who made the night extra special and fun with her joyful service and perfect recommendations.

The main standout in this restaurant was the staff. We were served by the most pleasant young lady you could ask for. She went out of her way to create a wonderful experience for us. She was engaging , chatty, interested and interesting. The food was lovely, especially my beef dish. Not so keen on the entrees . The chocolate tart dessert was outstanding. Altogether a memorable meal whilst sat by the roaring log fire - just perfect !

We enjoyed the trout, pork belly, duck mains, smoked salmon and a prawn entree. We enjoyed each and felt they were creative without being over wrought. Nice service as well. One of the top meals we've had in Australia.
