Highlands Castle

Celebrated my "One Last Knight" bachelorette weekend at Highlands Castle with some of my friends over Halloween weekend (Thurs-Sun) and we had the best time! John and Yvonne are incredibly kind and gracious hosts. They had a welcome note with our names to greet us as our stay began and Highlands Castle mugs to take home with us as souvenirs. Six of us stayed in the Castle Cottage comfortably (the one right next to the main castle) with a private kitchen and bathroom. For one night of the weekend, my friend's surprised me and rented one of the rooms in the main castle for me so we would have access to the Great Hall to use for a themed dinner and hang out. John gave us a tour of the castle and the heartwarming history behind it. He was in on the surprise and helped my friends coordinate it. He lit the fire for us to enjoy that night, and we loved meeting their family dog, Major. Most of us are from the city, so this was the perfect getaway— a gorgeous view of the mountains and Lake George, the crisp and fresh fall air, the quiet to enjoy while reading or journaling, catching up over a glass of wine. I got to enjoy my time with my friends, making memories that I'll carry with me forever. And as if feeling like royalty for the weekend wasn't enough, the stand-out was truly the view. I'll be dreaming about it until I can make my way back here again. Highly recommend this stay with a group of friends, family, or a partner. I hope to come and visit again with my soon-to-be husband one day.

We had an amazing visit. The castle is peaceful and beautiful! From amazing vistas, to cozy rooms, it was MAGICAL! Our hosts John and Yvonne (and Major)were very gracious and supplied everything we needed. We enjoyed learning about the history of the castle and loved John's stories. We stayed in the gatehouse with another couple and it was perfect! We cant wait to return!!

I was just thinking about our time at Highlands Castle and realized I never wrote a Google review for this incredible place. This was our honeymoon destination back in Feb. 2024 and my wife and I had an unforgettable time here. The castle is absolutely stunning as is the scenery around it. As Medieval buffs, we both loved staying in our room which felt like we were living in a fairytale. John & Yvonne were just as amazing and treated us like we were family while we stayed there. John even treated us to a wonderful dinner one night. Thank you both for making our honeymoon so memorable. We had the great pleasure of holding a surprise murder mystery dinner party for my husband's birthday at Highlands Castle. The owners, John and Yvonne, were amazing hosts. They were accommodating as we considered venues, as the plans came together and on the day of the event were instrumental in making sure it all came together. The property is so amazingly unique and picturesque - I could not have imagined a better spot for our gathering.

My family and I had a wonderful weekend stay at the Highlands Castle in Lake George. The scenery is beautiful inside and out and John and Yvonne made us all feel very welcomed. The location is very calm and serene especially with the incredible views of the lake and mountains. There’s nowhere else I would have rather spent my time! Thank you so much for a great vacation!

We stayed for a couples trip. It was a great experience! The grounds and view are beautiful. The cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The beds and pillows were great. John and Yvonne were warm and inviting hosts.

Everything about this vacation was good! The accommodations overlooking Lake George were just spectacular. The hosts, John and Yvonne, were very welcoming and wanting to make our stay as perfect as possible. Location was ideal to restaurants, groceries, and a day trip to Lake Placid. We would definitely stay again!

My (now) fiancé surprised me with a weekend stay at Highlands Castle and it was an unforgettable experience. He couldn’t have found a more perfect location to propose! As soon as you enter the gates, you’re treated with a phenomenal view of the castle and grounds. From the statues surrounding the outside to the multi level balconies, it’s truly the perfect spot to admire the beauty of Lake George. The interior is no different - absolutely beautifully decorated, truly feels like it was created with so much love and adoration for the times. The stained glass opening into the main hall made my jaw drop! John and Yvonne were absolutely amazing hosts. They were completely respectful of our privacy while also taking the time to share the history of how this place came to be. Hoping to visit again soon ❤️
