We stayed here in Aug/Sept 2024. In August we had a room on the top floor. It rained, so we didn't use the balcony. Old motel. The check in clerk was not overly friendly and we had to ask for a receipt. That room was very spacious and clean. The bed was fair. For our September stay we asked for a room on the main floor. It was even more spacious, the bed was better and we were able to enjoy the balcony. The lady at the check in was very nice. Parking was a challenge for both stays. The restaurant was excellent.

We spent one night at this motel last week. This was our third time that we stayed there. First time was several years ago ….good experience went back two years ago ….ok experience. Then this time…..terrible!||The carpet in the room was filthy ….I couldn’t believe an establishment would rent a room with such a stained and dirty carpet.||The coffee machine still had the last guests coffee in it which we cleaned up. The paper travel lids didn’t fit the paper cups they provided.||The place needed painting and repairs.||Although I understand the restaurant is no longer associated with the motel…..our meal there was not good. In the past we had enjoyed our meals there.|Our waitress was the same as we had previous visits and was very pleasant and efficient.||I would definitely not recommend this motel and will never stay there again on our trips to the east coast.

We were driving from ontario to nova scotia and took a detour for lunch. Came upon Hill Top Restaurant by chance. We had the roasted red pepper soup with smoked gouda and the grilled chicken pesto blt with fries. Absolutely amazing. The soup was the best I ever tasted and the chicken was moist and tender. Atmosphere and service superb. I with I could give it even more stars

stopped on way to Nova Scotia and way back, the ground floor room with the water view is worth the extra few bucks for the patio to have a coffee on in the morning. be advised if you get there late at night parking can be a bit tough but shouldnt be an issue honestly. Beds are super super firm, so if you need a soft bed prob not the place for you. Restaurant for breakfast both times was as good as you can want and super affordable.

The vegetable omlette I ordered this morning was absolutely excellent! It's always been a positive experience whenever I eat at Hill Top. I've been traveling here for decades. However, today, whoever the young man is working at the front desk today (October 15) needs to learn how to speak to fellow employees in a professional matter. As I was leaving, he could be heard from across the restaurant yelling to a female waitress. There is no excuse to speak to anyone in that tone, let alone in a place of business of paying customers. I was so uncomfortable with what I witnessed. I decided to post publicly instead.

We have dinner here twice each summer. As time has passed the dining experience has worsened. At one time, and under previous management we looked forward to enjoying good food, service and scenery. Unfortunately, this time I was served food so inedible I had to send it back. The waitress was understanding and apologized. The chicken wings that replaced the disgusting spaghetti were previously frozen but well cooked. I will stick with them in the future.

This is a review for the restaurant. While visiiting family in Grand Falls we did a large dinner at the restaurant in a private room. Service was professional and attentive, and the food was very good. It was a Friday night so there was local singing entertainment that added a festive atmosphere. I would recommend to everyone when in Grand Falls.

The rooms were very clean and the location couldn't be better. The motel was extremely accommodating with a very late check in. The only issues I had were the beds were extremely hard. To the point it was hard to fall asleep, and for some reason the toilet paper was not in reach of the toilet. Even my 6'1 husband couldn't reach it! Over all it was a lovely stay but I think some room upgrades would be nice

Yelp
Our waitress was very friendly, however the nachos were disgusting. Nowhere is it indicated that the nachos are, in fact, not nachos. They are deep fried potato slices with toppings. Crunchy, dry, and unpleasant to eat. The pulled pork "nachos" are labeled as potatoes, but the regular nachos are not indicated as such. Logic would dictate that you are getting..... nachos. What's wrong with tortilla chips and whose genius idea was it to get rid of them entirely for crunchy potatoes? How hard is it to have a bag of nachos available? No gluten free menu and no accommodations or recommendations for those who eat gluten free. Everything fried in the same fryer. Portion sizes on the burger were small. Perhaps 1/3 lb burger and a small amount of fries for $18. Fries were undercooked and soggy. Pass on this place unless you want a lot of surprises. Nachos definition: " noun a dish of tortilla chips topped with melted cheese and often also other savory toppings."

Yelp
Stopped on a road trip and what a gem. Looks like the whole place has gone through an upgrade. Huge room with a balcony overlooking the falls was very clean and and comfortable. Restaurant was priced right with good food and service. Would definitely recommend a stop here.

Yelp
If you're looking for an all-day breakfast, this is the place to go. No nonsense, bacon and eggs and other breakfast fare. Great view of the river and gorge. Had to order an extra plate of sausages because the first ones went down so well. Lots of fresh coffee and spreads for your toast, including some sort of caramel spread which was very delish!

Yelp
The Motel- small and clean. Great for a quick sleep while on a long drive. The beautiful surprise was all the trails and museum just down the hill for the Canyon. Wonderful trails to look outs. The restaurant- the food wasn't that great. Big menu, but not impressed. We ate dinner here. My son ordered plain spaghetti noodles with butter and parm cheese. The pasta was way over cooked ( hard and crunchy) both visually and when he tried it. And it was cold! The butter didn't even melt. We asked for it to be warmed up and also added that it looked over cooked. She did bring it back out warm but still over cooked. I tried cutting it and it was very tough and my son said it was crunchy so we had to bring it to the back to the kitchen ourselves because no one came back to our table. We asked for some fresh pasta. The waitress did not charge us for it, however we did have to ask twice for it to be fixed. When she did bring it back it actually looked like spaghetti. I had the quesadilla- it was pretty good. My husband has chicken fingers and fries. Fries needed to be cooked more but chicken was good. We had breakfast there the next day - only because it was free for my husband and I, but not for our son. It was ok - took a while for the waitress to come and greet us and bring us menus. Large egg and bacon meals. Pretty good.

Yelp
The rooms are very spacious and clean. There's an excellent selection of tv channels, the beds are very comfortable, and the bathrooms are a nice size, especially the bath tub. Great for traveling with kids. I would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Nice little spot. I recommend staying upstairs as the rooms are nicer then the rooms on the main floor. Very clean and nice staff. The restaurant is very good also.

Yelp
OMG. Worst experience EVER. Would you believe that they gave us a smoking room even though we reserved non smoking. They charged us $138. They took our money and wouldn't change our room saying they had none available. The parking lot was empty, but whatever!! We spoke to the owner of the motel on the phone and she said, and I quote "give them a can of deodorizing spray" to take away the stench and that's it. They wouldn't do anything for us at all. I have never been so insulted. Of course we had no choice but to endure this completely disgusting smell because this is the August long weekend and all hotels in the region are full. I'm 53 years old and I've travelled my entire life. This experience, talking to the owner and her saying they would charge us full price for this disgusting smelly room was the worst I've had my entire life. The owner even said And I quote "Im sure if we rent this room to someone else they won't mind the smokey smell." They should not be in business as they clearly don't give a shit about their customers.
