Hillhaven Holiday Apartments

Brilliant views and great location. Very tight parking spaces. We couldn't fit our 6 seater hire car and while there are a few public spaces outside the apartments, if you leave , the space would be gone which meant driving around to find a carpark, then moving the car once a space became available. Building is dated, and parts, like the lift and concrete covered area outside each apartment, are quite grubby and run down. The lift was very slow, rattled, and did not smell good, but it did provide some entertaining discussion on the possible source of the smell. What really put us off were the number of decent sized cockroaches at the back door in the covered concrete area that also found their way inside. Serious bug treatment needed before we'd go back!|Pity, when the views are so stunning. Apartment itself was pretty good, for a budget price. No extras, so you need to set up with basics, even salt and pepper. Great having a laundry, but the drier was very loud and rattly and probably needs checking.| Building in general needs some TlC.||

Spent 5nts here in the lead up to our wedding and it was amazing. Perfect location and speccy views. Great layout of the room, spacious, and everything you need. Easy check in/ out process and nothing was a drama. Saw whales every day and it was the best spot on the hill to do that. One thing to note would be the shower going cold within 2mins, but that was minor in comparison to all the positives. We’ll be back again and again! :)

We stayed in Unit 29, and it was not a good experience. The room was old, outdated, and very different from the photos online. It was also unclean with dead bugs everywhere. The car park design was impractical—I couldn’t fit my car, and someone else even took our spot 😡.Noise insulation was poor, making it hard to relax. The view was great, but we had weather. We stayed in room 19 luckily for only one night. Do not trust the photos on their site not sure about other rooms but the room we had was very badly maintained with holes in walls, scuffed and dirty paint, no air conditioning or dishwasher. The decor and fittings look unchanged possibly from when it was built in the 60s. Room and furniture smelt musty. Poor lighting. Car parking was difficult. Not recommended at all.

The rooms on their web site are nothing like the room we stayed in, it was run down unmaintaned smelt bad and just plain bad, no air cond or dishwasher parking is difficult and site is very steep a long walk to any shops. The view is good but that's all. not recommended.

Spectacular view, absolutely stunning, whale watching was amazing. Fantastic location close to beach and great restaurants. But unit 29 the one I stayed in was dated, dirty and needs a complete deep clean and upgrade. The pillows and blankets disgusting, the lounge peeling, it was not welcoming and unpleasant. The owner needs to spend some money because right now they think they can provide a bad unit because of view. I felt dirty in a room I paid $266 a night . Management lovely but they can only try encourage owner to give it a makeover. Very disappointed as I treated myself to a stay cation.

I feel somewhat sad writing this review as the current situation is not the fault of the new managers. However, we have stayed here for many years and will probably not be back anytime soon. Our room was on the top floor, one we have stayed in several times before. It was in need of maintenance and some aspects were filthy. There was a big construction going on next to the complex, not something the managers had any control over. At times it was very noisy, with a jack hammer starting at 7am, going on and off throughout the day. It will be a couple of years before that is complete, as it is a large complex. The new managers have taken on a hotel in desperate need of maintenance and care. There was some construction going on at the complex, which actually didn't have any impact on us personally. There is scaffolding over a large section of the complex. Be wary of where you room is. The view is something that has not changed, still magnificent, particularly from the top floors, which is impossible to beat on the coast.

Hillhaven is the grand old dame of the Gold Coast. It is one of only a few 1960's building that remain standing. Built right on Burleigh Headland and next door to Burleigh Heads National Park. The views are truly magnificent! It's all there in front of you. From the ocean to the city and beyond. The building retains its character but most of the apartments have been renovated and have kept pace with providing modern kitchens, bathrooms, appliance and décor. Every apartment is different. Lily and Hank are the on-site managers and do a marvellous job to ensure that your stay is seamless and memorable. Highly recommended!
