"The drive from New York to Truro takes about five and a half hours. I like to leave by 6 a.m. and get there by lunchtime. On the way into town, stop at Hillside Farmstand. You can buy fruits, veggies, snacks, breakfast ingredients, and all that you would need to make a sandwich for lunch."

There are lots of stores that give the impression that they are selling locally grown vegetables but often the produce is coming off a truck that schlepped their produce from hundreds of miles away. This is ABSOLUTELY not the case of the Hillside Farmstand where over the last week of our fabulous vacation in Truro, we have purchased locally grown strawberries as well as other farm produce that is delicious. They also sell great cookies and a wonderful selection of breads. I have been visiting their store everyday and have been grateful for their wonderful selection of fruits and vegetables. You can also buy other grocery items as well. For example, they carry almond milk and other items you might not imagine they’d have in stock.

Corn is now $2 each - and the quality is not even close to what you can get at the farmers market (for $1 each). Tomatoes do not look seasonal, they look like greenhouse ones you see at the supermarket. Not what it used to be sadly.

"I recently visited this place and was quite disappointed. The fresh products they sell didn't look fresh at all. On top of that, I've heard some concerning things about how they treat their employees. I hope they can improve both the quality of their products and their workplace environment."

Google
Convenience is key here. Quality is often hit or miss, as some of the produce/bread has gone bad quickly and every time we get bread or rolls they have no expiration dates and some are in brandless, unlabeled bags. Odd. Good for a quick pickup for small things you need but expensive as others have suggested. Prob slightly better than 3+ so I gave it a 4 but it’s somewhere smack dab in the middle.

Hillside’s strongest point is its tomatoes, which are superior. Also special is its big selection of artisanal bread from Pain d’Avignon. Also worth buying are it’s home-raised chickens. Prices are relatively high. Buy your fruit at Stop n Shop, especially watermelons.

Hillside is doing a great job during COVID-19 - they have gloves and clear signage at entrance, one way traffic going through the store, and they limit capacity, as it is a tight space. Tomatoes, chickens, corn, ice cream, fresh bread, coconut water, mozzarella - all the good stuff - love coming hear after work to get ingredients for dinner on the weekend!

Bought watermelon and corn. While shopping, due to Covid, felt uncomfortable looking over produce. Just grabbed the first one..it was terrible.. strawberries looked rotted, so didn’t bother. Corn was not fresh picked..terrible. Maybe Wednesday isn’t the day to shop there...

Google
Very expensive, doesn't feel very covid safe, especially when they let people come into the actual store, and never has anything I actually need. It is like a Marie Antoinette @ Versailles, "play hamlet" version of a farmstand - - but if you think of Truro as "rural," then it will probably work fine for you for the week or two you are occupying your luxury rental.

Yelp
I love Hillside Farms. We spent 2 weeks in Truro and I bought things from the market several times. They have these potato chips you can't get anywhere else and I can't remember what their name is so I'm trying to call them. We had them with crab dip That I got in the fish store In the same parking lot. The service is really great: all very young conscientious kids that are competent and friendly. They also have delicious cookies that are also amazing.

Yelp
Great market with local produce that is fresh and abundant. Their fruit and vegetables are a work of art! Friendly service and a great selection.

Yelp
We stopped in see what they had for fresh veggies...its a cute place with a nice friendly guy working there. Some nice non veg items too like bread, canned goods, frozen local meat, and other sundries. The prices are high so we did not get that much this trip.

Yelp
Went in the other day with my mother in law and her kids to buy some so called "fresh produce". overall, wasn't impressed and my produce appeared almost as rotten as the manager. We fully witnessed the manager harassing and disrespecting her employees who were mostly young kids and she proceeded to humiliate and scream profanities at them with no regard towards the customers present in the store.

Yelp
Great environment, except justice for Rufus. Loved the overall vibe but definitely would've loved to have pet therapy.

Yelp
Sorry to knock a business during these challenging times, but... Selected four ears of corn and placed them on the counter with with a $5 bill for the cashier . Nope--not enough money. What? They're charging (gouging) $1.75 per ear (and they forbid you from pulling back the husk for a peak). Should've walked out, but didn't want to get yelled at for not bringing home the requested ingredient. ;) The corn was decent, but not worth seven bucks. So much for supporting a local business. Last week, at Stop&Shop, an ear of corn was 40 cents. And it was great...

Yelp
The produce is great. And the prices are high, as others have said, but not as high as prices at the farmers market.

Yelp
Some of the tastiest tomatoes and broccolini we have ever had. Incredibly farm fresh, and a real treat.

Yelp
Fresh local produce. Tomatoes and locally grown lettuce are fantastic. Hillside is a local gem.

Yelp
Great local farm stand plus more. Great staff and fresh food. Good dele took for a small farm store. It's a weekly stop for me!

Yelp
The vegetables are very good and fresh here. The watermelon was sweet and juicy. The prices are a little high, but you are on the Cape and pretty much what is here is grown here (shopping local). Great variety of different veges, drinks, and breads.

Yelp
This place is a small farm stand on route six with some local produce as well as some other stuff to supplement (basic groceries, meat, baked goods). I bought some basil and tomatoes here that were fantastic. From their website: "The Perry family operates the Hillside Farmstand at 300 Route 6 in Truro, where they sell their own farm-grown lettuce, cucumbers, zucchini, squash, peppers, watermelons, and pumpkins, plus eggs, milk, poultry and more."

George G.

Yelp
Hillside has good produce from local sources and it's own chickens. It is not cheap. One criticism: it is poor in enforcing social distancing inside, especially at checkout, which can be slow.

Yelp
LOVE this farm stand! One of the original farming families in Truro. Fresh Local Produce! And such good quality! They are the Real Deal.

Yelp
Great local veggies. We grad fish from Cape Tip (in the same parking lot), add veggies from Hillside and wine for the packy next door. Can't go wrong!

Heather B.

Yelp
They have a decent selection, but the prices are insane! They also have a $10 minimum for credit card purchases.

Yelp
Nice family owned farm stand with local produce. Helpful when you can't make it to a farmers market but want to eat nice veggies and fruits and also a good stop on the way to Provincetown. They have some meat and other grocery items as well - including locally roasted coffee from Mashpee! I wish it was open more than just the summer.

Yelp
Need to change the policy on checking corn. No other place does this. Other night, corn had worms. We have now been fooled twice.
