Hillstone Lodge

Our two night stay at Hillstone Lodge was simply outstanding and amazing.||From the very beginning with a heart-warming welcome, a homemade biscuit in our room until our check out, everything was on point! ||Staying with the hosts, Jana & Bertie, felt like having a vacay at your best friends house. The unbelievable view you gain from the windows in your room, the lounge/ fire place and the breakfast room is beyond words. You also have the opportunity to spot seals through the binoculars. The wide range of breakfast choices is not just lovely to read on paper it´s soooo delicious that you wish you could have it every day. Jana, you made our day with your beautiful breakfast. You made it with so much love. That´s the secret ingredient for sure. ||We also had a daily newspaper with recommendations to explore the surrounding, which was very helpful. In case you fancy whiskey, Bertie is an absolut specilalist and we enjoyed our little private whiskey experience. Having a chat with Jana & Bertie was always a pleasure and the knowledge regarding Isle of Skye and in general was brilliant. All in all we are already looking forward to enjoy our next stay at the Hillstone Lodge in the near future. Thanks a lot for the unforgettable memory.

We stayed 3 nights here in November early into our 10-night stay in Scotland, and we probably shouldn't have spoiled ourselves so early, because we never came across a better breakfast! This "B&B" really has 5-star hotel service and nosh, from the baked sweets that change daily on arrival (note to future travelers: don't save your snacks for later, as they will be replaced with new snacks the next day and you don't want to miss out), to the gourmet breakfasts that are made to order and devoured in front of an amazing view. ||The lodge is cozy, but doesn't feel claustrophobic as there are crystal-windows everywhere (and great blinds for when you might not be ready for the Skye sun).||The hosts also do a great job of setting you up for success with plenty of info and communication prior to your arrival, as well as curated tips and plans during your stay. ||The lodge is also in a great location (though you will have to brave the single-lane roads, as with anywhere in Skye, but the hosts also sent us advance info on how to best prepare). We were able to see so many of Skye's natural wonders in our short time there, and always had delicious places to eat, even during the offseason (Three Chimney's is just a walk down the road, and the Michelin-starred Loch Bay is just a local-cab ride away, which the hosts we also happy to help arrange). ||If you're looking for a luxury stay that feels intimate and welcoming, while giving you easy access to all of the best of Skye, then this is a great place for you.

Five star accommodation in beautiful Skye. Echoing previous reviewers this is a gem of a B&B in Colbost run by the lovely Bertie and Jana. The accommodation is stunning and so comfortable. The delicious and generous breakfast was amazing cooked perfectly by Jana and sitting at the window watching the ever-changing views (and visiting sheep) was the best start to the day. Home baking and birthday wishes greeted our arrival and Bertie's travel tips and local knowledge was so helpful and receiving a personalised note each day with hints and ideas was appreciated. We had a great weekend in Skye and staying at Hillstone Lodge was an integral part of that. Highly recommend. Thank you Bertie and Jana.

We had the pleasure of staying at Hillstone Lodge and it was by far our favourite accommodation during our time in Scotland. Bertie and Jana are truly wonderful hosts, making you feel at home from the moment you arrive. The lodge itself is beautiful, incredibly comfortable and offers stunning views of the surrounding area. Sitting on our terrace every morning and taking in those views is something we'll never forget! ||We started each day with a wonderful homemade breakfast which was accompanied by a personalized information booklet with thoughtful insight and suggestions for the day ahead. It was such an appreciated detail and we looked forward to it each morning. Bertie and Jana are not only knowledgeable about the area, but they also genuinely care about their guests' experiences, offering great recommendations for dinner and local attractions.||If you're looking for a warm and inviting place to stay, I can't recommend Hillstone Lodge highly enough. It’s a true gem and we can't wait to return one day.

Hillstone Lodge was the best stay of my Scotland travels. I knew the place would have great views, but what I didn't expect was the spotless, gorgeous, comfortable living quarters and countless small touches that made me feel welcome and cared for. Beds are luxurious and large, local wool items and highland soaps, a perfect shower and double bathroom sinks. Quiet. An ultimate couples escape. Bertie & Jana are the kindest, most gifted hosts I've found in my travels abroad. I would be lucky indeed to stay here again. Thank you for all you do to run such a wonderful B&B.

I can’t say enough good things about the Hillstone Lodge. It was by far our favorite accommodation in our 2 week stay in Scotland. Bertie and Jana are such kind and welcoming hosts. You feel pampered and cared for from the moment you arrive. From the welcome cake Jana brings to your room to the personalized weather and sight seeing suggestions that are on your breakfast table each morning you feel so valued. Jana is an amazing cook and the breakfasts are delicious. Bertie will go above and beyond to answer any questions you have about sights and restaurants in the area. Wonderful experience in a beautiful setting!

Our stay at Hillstone lodge was phenomenal. Bertie and Jana were the perfect hosts. The breakfasts were the best we had on our entire 2 week visit to Scotland. The views from the sitting room are not to be missed. We had a fantastic time and can't wait to go back.

My wife and I had a lovely time at Hillstone. It is well situated for nearby hikes, sites, and terrific restaurants. Bertie and Jana are the perfect hosts. Jana makes amazing breakfasts - croissants, waffles, the works — and tasty afternoon treats. Bertie is extraordinarily helpful, suggesting the perfect nearby hike, drive, or place to eat. We would mention going to some part of Skye, and the next morning, he would have prepared for us an itinerary of where to go and what to see. We especially liked the design of the lodge, inside and out.
