"The Only Shark Encounter I Want The town of Hilo is filled with shops, small art galleries and installations, and quaint cafes and coffee shops. One such place, Hilo Shark's Coffee Shop, offers coffee and a nice selection of food, too. No encounters with the aquatic variety of sharks in this small cafe - you are the only one who gets to devour anything at Hilo Sharks. I appreciated a sandwich wrap from their outdoor seating on my way out of town to one of the beaches. Local flavors and an earth-conscious business make the experience feel as good as it tastes."

As a snooty San Francisco/ Bay Area coffee drinker I'm very picky. This was the first time in Hawaii that I was actually happy with the coffee. It's definitely on the darker side compare to the Konas but has a very interesting taste and it was an enjoyable cup of coffee . They have a lot of other interesting looking things in the shop and the menu is decent as well.

Tiny place inside but there's a table to sit at outside. Only had iced coffee a couple times. They use frozen coffee as ice cubes so your drink won't get watered down as they melt. Nice baristas, casual place.

SUCKS! How can two pieces of toast take nearly half an hour??? And not even toasted?!? When I inquired what happened to my toast, the lady quipped, "I'm buttering it now!" No jelly nor jam offered and when I asked for some, as I had ordered the exact same thing before and it came with jelly on the side. This woman grabbed my plate and took an EXTRA three minutes until I told her I think that's enough as she was about to slather more. it took her another minute to reclose the package and hand it to me. Having waited far too long, I left in a hurry, then noticed as I opened the package the ridiculous amount of jelly she had slathered on it. As I scraped off the pile, I noticed how cold my toast was. My daughter ordered a croissant sandwich that took forever to make that DID got toasted tho to the point of being near burnt. This place SUCKS big time!!

A cozy corner shop with local-grown coffee and homemade ice cream. I might be biased, but I think the staff is friendly and the coffee's the best in town.
