Very nice and modern hotel. Friendly staff. Breakfast is very good and varied. The rooms are clean and comfortable and modern. Nice hotel. The team at checking and the restaurant was 100% professional and kind. Housekeeping was also excellent. I had a very comfortable bed and a nice view on the canal. The bathroom is a bit small, but functional. The Italian restaurant was a fantastic experience: nice service and tasty dishes. I went there 2 times. The breakfast buffet was also a pretty good one. The lounge is small, so quite busy during the happy hour, but the view is nice!

Excellent airport location. Superb service from all staff and esp the restaurant. Breakfast was excellent. Executive lounge had great choices and all that we needed. Would stay again 100%. We have stayed at the Sheraton airport hotel as well. This is a better choice, in my opinion.

Lovely hotel with a great view over the canals. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, the beds are huge and comfy as well. It's also located in a quieter part of town, so perfect for those who prefer to avoid the crowd.

This hotel is wonderful. Located in a nice, quiet area of Amsterdam, but still easy to get around. Our room was beautiful and spacious, with a lovely view of the water. I honestly wish that we could have stayed longer. The breakfast in the morning was delicious. We were not able to try any of the other restaurants at the hotel, but they all looked great. Looking forward to future stays in Amsterdam.

The entire staff at the hotel was incredibly polite, helpful and sincere! I felt like they genuinely wanted to help with our (many!) questions. The staff at the breakfast in particular made us feel like royalty. From the front desk to our server that morning, our every request was met with a smile. Fresh whipped cream appeared like magic along with an offer to get me another mimosa from a SELF service station. Our upgraded room was incredible and daily maintenance was prompt and spotless. All I can say is that this hotel made our short trip to Amsterdam a wonderful experience and we hope to come back one day. Thank you to everyone at Hilton Amsterdam!

This is a top hotel, in a lovely quiet location. Our stay was delightful in every way. All the staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful; the bedrooms were well appointed and very comfortable; and the food was first-class. The Executive Lounge is a little modest, but unavoidably constrained by its position on the roof level. Overall though I would recommend this Hilton without hesitation..

I can't complain about our stay. The hotel itself is lovely. The staff didn't interact with us much but when we needed to ask a question, they answered them. The location is great, right on the water. Easy to sit out and eat or have coffee and a drink. Rooms were nice sized, including the bathroom. The restaurant is good too. The options were limited in my opinion but the food was good. Some of the other places seemed to be closed but I saw a hair salon open in the hotel and it was crowded. I think the coffee cafe was open the day we were checking out. you can also rent bikes here.

Google
The location is not amongst the canal streets, it is better. This neighborhood is beautiful in many ways. Close to tram and bus stops if you want to leave this blissful area to the beautiful symphony of the city. The staff is friendly and efficient. Elisabeth (I think) was so sweet and helpful at breakfast.

Yelp
Had a wonderful experience at this hotel. It was off the path and out of city center which worked great for us. The New Years fireworks show outside our window was amazing. The front desk staff were not the best, not terribly friendly however that didn't hurt our stay. Great hotel and will for sure come back!

Yelp
I stayed at the Hilton Amsterdam on my December 2023 trip to the city, I was rather disappointed with my stay overall, having previously stayed at the Doubletree by Hilton at Amsterdam Centraal and the Doubletree by Hilton at NDSM Island on previous trips to Amsterdam, it is my least favourite Hilton in the city. The hotel is located on Apollolaan, one of the most expensive streets in the city, for tourists it isn't ideal at all, it's at least a ten-minute walk to a tram stop and from there, it isn't too bad into the city but the time adds up in-case you want to head back if you've forgotten your jacket. Leidseplein - 6 minutes Red Light District - 11 minutes Centraal Station - 18 minutes My stay started very well, I received a lovely welcome email, I explained the purpose of my trip was to celebrate my birthday, and they upgraded me in advance to a suite as a Hilton Honors Diamond member. As soon as I arrived at the hotel, things turned sour and I didn't feel valued as a Diamond member. The check-in process was long and stressful, I was checked in by a blonde receptionist who was rather rude. She questioned the integrity of my Hilton Honors Diamond status, before explaining to me I would be denied access to the Executive Lounge, she mentioned how they would still be giving me free breakfast - but I had already paid for a room rate with Breakfast included, as I had booked two rooms and wanted Breakfast for everyone so it wasn't free, and she then argued with me about this. I was able to get access to the Executive Lounge for the final two nights of my stay, and for such a large hotel, the Lounge was tiny, with only a few tables, I also heard stories of other guests being denied access to the Lounge due to the size and no alternative being offered. For such a large hotel, with the historic fame of being home to John Lennon and Yoko Ono's Bed In Protest, you'd expect better. There was a small selection of canapes (nothing GF) and alcoholic drinks between 17:00 and 19:00. The check-in process was so time-consuming, despite advising the receptionist I had a debit card, I was told there was no way around the card hold, in the end, they offered to take a hold for one room, rather than two... only for them to take the full €700 for both rooms and tell me there was nothing they could do but refund it in a couple of days. After arriving at my room, I was tired after my flight and the check-in experience, the room was fairly nice but the facilities were basic for a Suite. The safe was located towards the back of a high and deep shelf, meaning you'd have to be over six feet tall to reach it so it was unusable for me. There was also no desk, so I had to form a makeshift one using the sofa, and coffee table, which wasn't ideal. The guests travelling with me had similar issues in their Deluxe Room with the safe and no desk so this wasn't just an issue exclusive to the suites. My room was a tad small for a suite but the sofa and bed were both comfortable, and there were bed-side sockets including handy USB charging. There was a small fridge in the room, but only one small shelf could be used for the guest's own items, I did put some of my items in place of the free waters in the mini bar, but housekeeping moved them so they obviously mustn't like guests using the space for themselves. I did find a lack of storage space across the room as a whole, not just in the refrigerator Housekeeping standards also could have been better, they forgot to turn up on one day of my stay, if I had not returned to my room before 5 pm when housekeeping finished, I would not have had my room refreshed. They also never topped up my bottled water, or coffee, or cleaned the drinking glasses. The heating in the room also would switch off automatically, even after a few minutes, so I had to request an electric heater, after asking the staff member to come up and look at it, they just told me to request a heater. I did also have some noise issues during my stay, mainly from outside, you wouldn't realise it was Amsterdam's most expensive street from what was going on outside that's for sure, it felt as if my window could have been open even though I'd made sure it was wedged shut. Breakfast is served in Roberto's Restaurant, the breakfast times were good until 10;30 am during the week and 11 am at weekends, although the fruit juice would run out and not be topped up before then, the overall quality was reasonably good. The bacon was crispy, the potatoes were tasty, and the eggs were average. I was confused by the surcharge of €8 for poached eggs and other items though. Overall, I was disappointed by the Hilton Amsterdam, a famous hotel perhaps living off its past and not the future. One thing I've noticed with Hilton is the service always goes above and beyond to make it right, but at this hotel, I felt like a burden rather than a paying guest at the hotel which is also quite pricey.

Yelp
The staff at the Hilton Amsterdam is amazing! Nico and Hermanmom are wonderful and so helpful. The hotel itself is in a quiet area, but they directed us to a wonderful little shopping area that was easily walk to with many restaurants and boutiques. The hotel itself was not very what we were expecting from Hilton. The bed was very extremely uncomfortable, the shampoo and conditioners were empty or watered down. Realized after that the hotel was room was so basic that I didn't even take a picture. Sorry. The location was not where I expected it to be. I thought it was closer to the Dam and Central train Station. It was much further away than I expected, 25 minutes by cab. But it is in a lovely quiet area and we did walk easily over to the museum block. Be prepared there are not restrooms aka toilets, available for tourists, except during specific hours.

Yelp
We are Diamond member and used points with 5th night free for our stay. We would rate this hotel an excellent points-value deal. This hotel provided a "diamond" experience. We received an upgrade to a premium room that was spacious and had floor to ceiling windows that offered an excellent views of the canal, green space, and the surrounding area. The executive lounge is amazing. It's essentially a glass box on top of the hotel that offers panoramic views of the city. It is small and can get crowded but the manager Edgar made every guest feel special. It is open throughout the day (breakfast and happy hour served during specific hours) so it was a great quiet space to relax. The buffet breakfast was better than usual and free for Diamond members. Overall, we felt that they appreciated our brand loyalty and provided excellent service. The highlight of the hotel is the Half Moon Lounge. It offered artisan craft cocktails, a sophisticated bar and food menu, a canal view, and excellent service from Alessandra and the whole team. On the weekends, they had live jazz music. It was a great place to relax after a long day. We enjoyed the location. It's in an upscale, quiet residential neighborhood that has lots of shops, restaurants, and green space. It is walking distance to the major museums and Vondelpark. There are many transit stops within .5 miles and it's about a 15 to 20 tram minute to/from the central station/old town/red light. We felt safe walking in this area at all times of day/night.

Yelp
First time in the area. A very nice hotel convenient to many things in town. Staff helped me with an upgrade and a quick check in. Room was very nice and clean. Breakfast was very nice - a busy place. Definitely on my list for next time.

Yelp
I am in the minority here, I guess, but since I booked this hotel partly on the impeccable reviews both here and on tripadvisor, I feel I must share a slightly different perspective. Do you ever have a hotel stay that-- while there were no major issues-- a lot of little things left a not-so-great impression, especially when compared to the price paid for the experience? That is what happened for me here. I didn't realize it at the time, but when I booked this place, it was the wednesday before Amsterdam's pride festival. Which, explains why all the typical boutique hotels were sold out and many places were charging $500-1k/night for lodging. But, since our flights had been cancelled & rebooked (thanks Delta), I was on a mission to "make it work", as they say. The hilton seemed a little far from the city center (but close to the museums) a little more than I wanted to spend (esp for breakfast) but the reviews and hilton reputation sold me. A lot of little things added up to a not-so-great stay. This time around, our trip lasted just over a month and this was by far our least favorite hotel. As others have said, this hotel is located in a quiet residential neighborhood about 30 minutes by tram or 1 hour walking from the main tourism sites. We had about 1.5 days in Amsterdam so this was not the best in our case but I can see how this would feel perfect in other scenarios. It's also situated about a 10 minute walk from the trams and about 10-15 minutes from Amsterdam Zuid train station. Breakfast was a miss for me as compared to other eu hotel breakfasts and was very expensive at around $25 eu pp. Additionally, we were charged in US dollars and then the hotel charged an exchange fee back to EU. I didn't notice this until I got home or I would have asked that they re-run it. Literally everywhere else either ran it in EU or asked our preference. I'm sure it wasn't intended to be "shady" but it sure feels like an easy way to make an extra 3% on americans for no reason. Finally, our fridge was out. They attempted (but failed) to fix it and didn't offer us a new room partial refund, or anything. In fact, at checkout time, I had to ask them to remove charges the mini-bar incurred during the effort to repair the broker fridge. So, all in all, while the rooms are fine and the canal view is nice, I would stay somewhere different next time. If you're flying out of the airport here-- one option is to walk the 10-15 mins to Amsterdam Zuid and then but a $4 eu train ticket on the IC train and ride one stop. Super easy.

Yelp
Overall, a great experience here during my last business trip. The location is away from the more touristy parts of town, and I enjoyed the tranquility, canal views from the room and bars, and proximity to the museums and Concertgebouw (just a 12 min walk). The property is older but well maintained, and it's in a a residential area that is quiet and also had some nice looking shops and restaurants. Loved the canal view from my room, as well as the bar off the lobby. Morning breakfast was also better than average. And while it's a bit further away from the main train station, it's also a quick Uber ride to the airport which was convenient the next morning.

Yelp
The Staff, accomodations, and restaurant is excellent. its just a short ride into the center of the city, but there is PLENTY to explore in the immediate area. As a longtime Hilton Diamond member, I can honestly say that "overall" this was one of the best experiences with the Hilton properties. We will definitely be using this property on our next Amsterdam stay.

Yelp
Concierge had great recommendations for sights and food. The lounge was great for drinks after excursions. Terrace was great for wine on the canal.

Yelp
I usually visit some part of Europe during the fall season and so I do visit multiple hotels along the way. Some hotels are better than others and the Hilton Amsterdam was my favorite from this trip. During my downtime at work I am always on the look for hotels to plan my future travels. Day by day I would check availability for the Hilton Amsterdam and I eventually found decent rates for the dates when I would be in Amsterdam. As with my other reviews on Hilton hotels and resorts to make full use of my Diamond membership (room upgrades, executive lounge access, daily breakfast and 100% bonus points). Travel to the hotel from the airport was roughly 30 minutes via airport bus. Amsterdam is a very walk-able city and so everything is within distance. It was roughly 15 minutes to get to the nearest museum (think of Berlin's museum island; Van Gough, Rijks & Stedeljk) and 30 minutes to the city center where the Royal Palace, Anne Frank House and Red Light District are situated. I arrived quite late on my first night at the hotel and so I decided to dine in by visiting the executive lounge situated on the 10th floor of the hotel on its own glass enclosed floor and outdoor patio. For breakfast I opted to dine at Roberto's located on the ground level. Roberto's is very elegant, posh and the food is exceptional. As a Diamond member you may have breakfast at either the executive lounge or at Roberto's. The breakfast buffet was so delicious and is one of my favorites (my list includes the Waldorf Astoria Shanghai, Conrad Beijing, and Hilton Osaka; these are all Hilton hotels and resorts). The food served at the executive lounge was equally as delicious, I believe the food is prepared at Roberto's as well. However, seating at the executive lounge is rather limited, so at times it can be quite packed. Lets talk about my room; I was given a junior suite, which they also classify as a premier room. The room was spacious and it smelled so fresh that the scent of paint was still faint but present. The hotel was recently renovated and so the room felt brand new. I loved the clean and modern aesthetic of the design, but my favorite part would have to be the king sized bed and the soaking tub in the bathroom. After a day of walking, taking a soak in the tub is the perfect method to relax and it always helps when a hotel room has a greatly sized tub. While I spent most of my time walking the streets of Amsterdam and admiring the many canals; I appreciated the comfort and excellent service from this hotel. I am already thinking about when to visit Amsterdam again,

Yelp
i stayed at this hotel one year ago and my experience was very good. After a 9-1/2 hour flight I checked into the hotel today and found they had cancelled one of the two rooms I had booked. Their explanation was that my credit card didn't go through for my second room. I never received an alert from my credit card company that a payment had been declined nor did my travel agent. They stated that the hotel was full for the first night of our stay. Consequently, the other party whose room was cancelled has to stay at another hotel tonight. As I was checking in, a lady next to me was also checking in was experiencing the same thing. Her room had been cancelled, as well. I want to note they currently have a large corporate conference here and I suspect I was bumped. In addition, I was not given the type of room I had booked. I will not stay at this hotel again. I have no confidence that I will have a room upon arrival in spite of having a confirmation number. It seems they will randomly bump people. It is a very shady business practice. In addition to this, their room temperature was very cold and never warmed up. Also, I ordered room service and the wait time was to be 30 minutes. When I called about the order 1-1/2 hours later, they said they hadn't received the order. I had to place a new order. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone!

Yelp
This was my 4th or 5th vacation visit here. Stayed for 5 wonderful days. Check in was easy and pleasant. The ladies behind the desk were nice and I had a lovely corner room facing the park. It was quiet outside as was the inside too. The rooms have been recently renovated with new furniture and a new set up. Our room had a lovely L shaped couch and King bed in our suite. My husband missed having the desk and chair but it made the room seem much bigger without all the furniture. They seemed to replace the larger furniture with much more European styled smaller furniture. It was fine for us but gave us less drawer space and less counter top space. My recommendations for the best suites in the property is the ones that end in _26 and are on an odd numbered floor. The bathrooms are larger and the balcony will give you both a view of the park and the canal with very expensive homes. We were in 426 so no view of the canal but a nice big bathroom. The lounge upstairs for HH members of a certain level is very nice. Small but nice breakfast in the morning and a nice happy hour with snacks in the evening. A little chilly up there as it has 4 glass walls so you can see every angle of the city. Breakfast downstairs in Roberto's is pretty incredible. Outstanding selection and delicious food. If I could give 6 or 7 stars for the service, I WOULD! Coffee was refilled as was our choice of still or sparkling water. It is a buffett and our used plates were cleared very quickly so we could sample more food. The hot items were never low on quantity and the bread and pastry area was restocked constantly. Complimentary mimosa or Prosecco was available as was a variety of milks and cereals from the bar area. It is cozy inside with a nice fireplace to keep us warm in the winter. Roberto's is a wonderful restaurant and sometime I will go there for a wonderful dinner. Overall the hotel is grand which is why my husband and I only stay here when visiting yearly to Amsterdam for vacation. Great management and great staff both downstairs and throughout the property. Definitely a 5 star property!

Yelp
I stand by 3 stars in my second review, not my favorite Hilton in Amsterdam, although it is located on the most expensive street in Amsterdam, so I was told, by local people. The rooms are average. The bar does have a nice selection of high end scotches if you are into that. You could spend 300-400 EU on a shot of scotch. Breakfast buffet is average and the staff is overzealous, sometimes removing your plate without asking. The executive lounge has very nice views of the city but extremely limited seating. They were giving drink coupons to some of their guests for the bar downstairs, which is not OK specially when you pay for this lounge and you do want to enjoy the view. The appetizers served here were pretty good and they offer a "label" selection of spirits.

Yelp
I really love the Hilton Amsterdam. By some crazy twist of fate, I've been here on two occasions, with two different companies over the past two years, and it's been really enjoyable both times. If you can get a room with a view of the water, its beautiful. And OMG a real full length/depth bathtub? Yes please! The location makes it fairly convenient to walk to a lot of shopping and museums without being smack in the middle of it. Plus, I love their lounge and little bar (which is definitely on the expensive side) with it's cozy atmosphere and fancy drinks.

Yelp
Unlike in restaurants where even one and the same dish with three cooks can taste different three times, a hotel for the basic things is relatively standardized. And the ambiance is of course - as with the food the personal taste - always in the eye or palate of the beholder. But for this reason, I now give a more standardized review of hotels, of course, special features are also highlighted. In the toilet area, it may be a bit too "visual" for some people, so I rate this area last and it is marked ***, just skip it if you are one of those people who does not want to talk about it. Short Review for quick reading: This Hotel is a classic in Amsterdam, it is, in fact, the Hotel where John Lennon (The Beetles) and his wife had the rooms strike for a "World of peace" and you can rent the Yoko Ono and John Lennon suite. Unfortunately, it is also a classic when it comes to room design. It is a bit outdated and I wish they would remodel some of the rooms. Don't get me wrong everything is working, nothing is overly old. It is just when you go there year for year and always have the same you just wish for changes. And also there is a need for more technical integration, like USB Ports for powering equipment. A very good location direct on the canal and you can even board a ship from here (if you order one :-) ). What struck me: Always the nice hotel stuff around. We had an emergency while we stayed there and they handled it very professional and cared about that incident. Personnel / Employees: Good knowledge, very helpful always professional. Honesty or Marketing? Towel Service (on paper or even printed paper every hotel asks for help to protect the environment and to use towels several times, but what really happens in this hotel - is this taken seriously or is the towel replaced even though it left on the towel rack has been?): - We only stayed one night this time will be checked next time - Bottle of water from the minibar: 5 Euro - Cup/cappuccino from the bar: 4.50 Euro Amenities (beyond the usual, expected): - USB / sockets @ the bed: very rare - Trashcan: 1 bathroom, 1 desk - Shower system (shower head can be separated, water pressure, constant shower temperature): perfect! - *** toilet brush (at most 4+ star hotel seems to rule the opinion that the guest should not be bothered to clean the toilets after the use and the toilet brush is left out without further ado. I find that very questionable to the housekeeping) *** They don't provide a brush :(

Yelp
While the amenities and the rooms at Hilton Amsterdam are adequate, the front desk service agents, Marika and Isabella, are simply TERRIBLE and OFFENSIVE to Hubby and I, who are both Hilton Honors and American Express elite members. Marika, Isabella, and manager Louis Smith all lacked any heart for service that is needed for the hospitality industry. Our room was reserved via AmEx and since Hilton Amsterdam is a part of the Hotel Collection, we were offered benefits to include room upgrade and $100 credit. Upon arrival, front desk agent Marika, refused to extend us benefits and accused us of booking through Expedia. I showed Marika my AmEx confirmation email that included a booking ID as well as my AmEx card. She called over her colleague Isabella, who equally questioned our integrity and had the attitude that we were faking the email as well. Instead of helping and perhaps calling a manager, Marika and Isabella told me that it was my problem and that I needed to call AmEx to figure it out and they wanted "permission" from AmEx to prove that I qualify for the Hotel Collection. I talked them into letting me use their front desk phone, and after connecting to an AmEx representative, I passed the phone to Marika, who promptly disconnected AmEx. Marika and Isabella then reluctantly gave us the Hotel Collection, but changed the room price from €217 to €299 per night, which is an additional €410 ($365) for our 5-night stay. When I questioned the price change, Marika and Isabella, with their attitudes, told me to call AmEx again to sort it out. Neither Marika nor Isabella were interested with making the situation right, and instead gave us room 521 as an "upgraded" room. Room 521 not only had a view of the parking lot, but the safe did not work, there was a hole in the duvet cover (see photo), and there was a constant construction drilling sound. We immediately went back downstairs and was helped (thank goodness) by Priscilla this time. Priscilla went to the back office and came back to tell us that we had to spend the night in 521 and they would change our rooms the next day. The next day, we came back to the front desk after a day of sightseeing to check on the new room, and encountered Front Office Assistant Manager, Louis Smith. He confirmed the room change, and when I tried to speak to him about the terrible treatment Hubby and I received at check-in, he was aloof and said "yes, I heard." No apologies, no concern, no interest of making the situation right. Isabella checked us out after our 5 night stay. She looked at her computer and said that it looks like we had some troubles during checking-in. What? The troubles were brought on by YOU! For our troubles, she would remove a €63 room service... but I have a $100 AmEx credit for room service... no it would not be in addition to my credit, so I was essentially denied that benefit. However, she would use that credit and call a cab for us "on the house." The room was comfortable. There was no lotion in the bathroom. The location of the hotel is far from the City Center, but in a quiet suburban area. It is by far, NOT the optimal location to be close to the City Center and attractions. Hilton Amsterdam does NOT have shuttle service to either the airport or train station. The cab ride from Amsterdam Centraal train station is about €29 and €35 to the airport. The other transportation option to the City Center is the Tram or buses for €19/day and walking a couple of city blocks from the Emmastraat stop. Otherwise, a free walk to the City Center from the hotel is about 2 miles. Last by not least, the bright light in our 5-day stay is Dedy, who took care of us each morning for breakfast in the Executive Lounge. Dedy has a wonderful service attitude, was helpful, and remembered that we wanted soy milk every morning. KUDOS to DEDY!

Yelp
This property is located away from the heavy tourist area of the Centraal Station. It's a couple of blocks from tram station via Centraal Station on tram 24. It's a nice generally quiet area. Check-in was smooth and easy and the clerk was pleasant. The room was spacious and we had a great view. The bed was comfortable and the linens were great. Bathroom was stocked with toiletries and shower had plenty of hot water and water pressure. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were professional and pleasant. The room has a safe. If you are a Honors Diamond member you'll receive extra perks as well (executive lounge, breakfast in either restaurant or executive lounge, and more). Great stay!

Yelp
I stayed at this hotel last weekend. The hotel is definitely in a great location, more resident and set on a Mariana. Which ironically did not have any boats or tours for guests... we did however book a canal cruise through the hotel at an offsite location. The beautiful looking hotel bar is closed for guests on weekends. So was the coffee bar/cafe on weekends. With that said, don't plan on having a quick bite here before venturing out to explore Amsterdam like we did. Upon entering our room at around 3pm on last Friday, my boyfriend and I noticed there was a horrific smell coming through our vents. The front desk was very accommodating and switched our room given they were fully booked. Our second room smelled exactly the same - like rotting cheap perfume to coverup up a musky smell. It was horrible! I asked someone in the elevator if there room smelled also and hers did as well. The smell permeated through the hallways and lobby but not as strong. We kept our windows open the entire time which helped with the smell but given the abnormally high temperatures for this time of year our rooms were uncomfortably warm with the AC on full blast. And by full blast cool air was not flowing through the way it would in an an American hotel. Overall, if you have sensitivities to smells or even allergy's, do not stay at this hotel. Cleanliness was also subpar. The only saving grace was the restaurants but that's a separate review.

Yelp
A wonderful break from the usual business hotels. Amazing staff and location. Rooms lovely and well appointed. Walking distance to museum quarter and many bistros. Would definitely recommend. Robertos's restaurant on site. I would say though that room 323 often felt like the elevator was right in the room. Request away from elevators.coffee "to go" in the restaurant a big plus. Several uber drivers said this was absolutely the nicest neighborhood in Amsterdam.

Yelp
This is a very nice hotel. Our friends stayed at the Doubletree Hilton in Cetral Station. Ours was a very quiet hotel and the staff was awesome!!! A very classy hotel.

terrapin g.

Yelp
Overall, but better than average Hilton. Because of the severe staff shortage in the Netherlands, be prepared that the restaurant and the coffee bar often are not operating. And Roberto's restaurant which is the breakfast and dinner venue, is perfectly fine for breakfast. However dinner is mediocre to terrible.

Yelp
What a great stay at this hotel. It's located a short distance from great night life. The lobby is beautiful, room and bathroom fantastic as well. They had a sweet cake and fruit with champagne set up In the room because they knew we had a birthday. Very thoughtful and sweet gesture. We'll be back.

Yelp
Loved this Hilton property. We got in from an overnight flight at 6:30 AM. By 8:30 they had us into a room. The front desk people were very nice. The head concierge was very helpful. He really set us up nicely for a good first day in the city, cutting down on lines at popular places with advance tickets. The back garden patio overlooking the canal is just fantastic. Either sitting out in the quiet of the morning or with a drink at night. The breakfast buffet was very good, as well. We ate dinner in Roberto's and the food and service were impeccable. Our room had a canal view- worth it! Only negative about the hotel at all is it is a solid ten min walk to a tram station which was a bit much for my older mother. Otherwise, great property and lovely staff.

Yelp
First visit first rate impression. Staff took care of all of our wants and needs before Rhine River trip. Very close to tram # 16 stop which gets you to downtown cheap and fast. Great view of canal from our window. We needed a 240/120 volt converter device and they got us one. Also problem with TV which couldn't be fixed so we got personal apology and can of delicious Stroopwafels cookies. Breakfast buffet was well staffed and serviced. Friendly and courteous staff who spoke English. We were spoiled.

Yelp
We stayed here in October 2019. After leaving I realized I forgot a container with a bunch of jewelry in it and immediately emailed the hotel. The responded and said they found it, I was so happy to hear! They asked what I would like to have done to get it returned to me. I'm from the US and didn't have plans to travel there anytime soon, so I contacted them with my mailing address and asked if they could ship it. Since that original communication (Elena stating that they found my items) they now have not responded to me, I've tried 5 times with absolutely no response. I'm extremely sad and frustrated so I decided to turn to a review to see if I could get some response from someone. I'm promise to change this review if I get my items back. The hotel itself was clean and we enjoyed our stay, but after this frustration in getting my items returned I don't know what else to do.

Yelp
We had a great time during our 6-night stay at this Hilton. At first I wasn't sure if the location was good but it's close to a few tram lines and walking distance from popular museums but just outside enough of the "city central" hassle. We stayed over Easter and they certainly make a big deal celebrating; I think we received Easter baskets with candies for three days. What a lovely surprise to come back to your hotel room and be welcomed by an elaborately-decorated basket with huge chocolate eggs! The breakfast buffet was good; I fell in love with the combination of scrambled eggs and baked beans. Not sure if this is a Dutch tradition but it's yummy. We ate a couple of dinners at Roberto's -- the hotel's Italian restaurant -- and they were quite satisfying. Our room had a great view of the city and the local canal. The only problem with our room is they forgot to change the clock so we were late to our first day of touring. The hotel staff more than made up for our troubles and really offered excellent customer service. The only negative comment I have is the 9 euro daily charge for wireless access. It's a Hilton thing, I guess, but really annoying. We stayed at a Radisson and CitizenM during our BeNeLux travels and they had free WiFi.

Yelp
Upon receipt of the invitation to check in early and select the rooms I did so. Upon arrival we were notified that they mistakenly gave away one of my pre checked in rooms and no other adjoining rooms were possible. The AC did not work in our room and I brought it to the attention of the front desk. A service man arrived, diagnosed the issue and said it would not be practical to tear the room apart while occupied and someone would get back to me with a solution. The second night I contacted the front desk again and they said they would get someone on it. Nothing. The third night came and went with no solutions only more promises. To many things added up to overlook. We decided to depart early. They required an early departure fee in addition to the nights stay that we did not stay. I complained but nothing was rectified. The workers are nice but the management is lacking. The place seems to be living off a reputation that was long lost. Drinks in the dated and dusty bar are more than double that of the neighborhood establishments. The bar did not have the first three beers from the menu. The place is a buzzkill. Half of what is on the menu is unavailable. The place is dated. We attempted to leave early out of dissatisfaction but the charged us for our full reservations and rejected any pleas for consideration on all fronts. Ugh.

Yelp
Professional and super helpful staff. Comfy beds. Really nice property overall in a non-touristy area. Bonus! The AJAX futbol team was staying there during my visit.

Yelp
Great place to stay in Amsterdam if you want a bit of distance from the red light district. The area feels more like a local neighborhood which I loved. The breakfast in the morning was stellar! Rooms are nice and roomy and clean. If you're American like me and you order room service, stay away from the American sandwiches - no beuno. Order the split pea soup and cheese plate instead

Yelp
We stayed here during part of our anniversary trip. My husband had indicated we were celebrating this event and they really went all out to make us feel welcomed. When we arrived at the room, there was a vase of tulips from the housekeeping staff in honor of our anniversary. A few minutes later, they sent up champagne, strawberries and a small cake. Breakfast was included, so the next morning we while dining, the restaurant manager brought over more champagne and french toast with fruit topped with a mini flare to further celebrate. Pretty amazing! The entire staff here is professional and very friendly. The helped us get tickets to various museums , tram passes, taxis and dinner reservations. The hotel is located in a residential area so it is a lot quieter than the Central Station area. There are quite a few good places to eat and window shop in the neighborhood. My husband also enjoyed using the gym that is affiliated with the hotel. He had stayed here for business in the past, but I also think it is a good hotel for tourists. It is conveniently located to various tram lines- you can get to most of the tourist attractions within 10-20 minutes and the concierge is helpful with directions. I would stay here again if I returned to Amsterdam.

Yelp
Right on a canal, right by the Van Gogh Museum with a great breakfast buffet and VERY helpful staff!

Yelp
Can't say enough good things about the Amsterdam Hilton. Aside from the fabulous location near the Museumplein, the setting, along a lovely canal in a vibrant neighborhood, is one of the best in the entire City. The best part of staying there, however, is the awesome and attentive staff. From Housekeeping to the restaurant, to the front-desk staff, everyone bent over backwards to make sure our group enjoyed our stay. They even lent us a voltage converter for the week when ours broke. I can't wait for the world to open back up again so I can return to this wonderful hotel.

Yelp
The front desk, concierge and restaurant staff were amazing! The quality of the staff more than makes up for the Hotel being outside the city center.

Yelp
This property has a lot going for it and offers a refreshing change to the Doubletree by the central station. It's located in a quiet neighborhood near by the museums square. It's close to the tram and shops for basic needs. It has a beautiful outdoor area by the river with lights in the trees above. It's a much more laid back experience compared to the red light neighborhood. The room was quite comfortable, the air conditioning struggled a bit as the weather was very hot, but the balcony offered a nice breeze to cool off in. The room service was ok but nothing spectacular. The club sandwich was good and deserves a special mention. The burger was dry and boring. The executive lounge has a nice view but is a bit cramped. Breakfast is extremely limited so go to buffet instead. Also the tables are really stupid so you end up eating two feet from your plate.

Yelp
My tripadvisor review: I had a 17 hour layover in Amsterdam, and decided to treat myself to a nice hotel. I chose Hilton because of the reputation. I was not disappointed! When I walked into the lobby at midnight and was greeted by a front desk employee, I did not catch his name (I was so exhausted at this point) but he was so friendly and patient with me because he had to keep repeating himself. He was extremely genuine and so helpful and amazing. I woke up pretty early the next morning because I wanted to make the most out of my 17 hours. My main attraction was to go to the Anne Frank Museum. (I made it) :) I had paid the night before, for breakfast in the morning. When I went to the restaurant, Roberto's, I was greeted by Lara and Daniel. Lara is amazing. She was so sweet and she personally took me around the room to show me the different breakfast selections and where I could sit and to just let her know if there was anything i needed. She was super friendly and made me feel so welcome, especially as tired as I was. The breakfast selection here..was AMAZING. I have been to many different places in Europe and have never been disappointed with breakfast at any hotel. This one, was the best. The chef came around with this egg thing on a bagel, and the spices and peppers. It completely made my day. As I was leaving, I thanked Lara for showing me around and for her help, and Daniel chatted with me for a few minutes about my travels, and he was so sweet, they really did help me leave that hotel with a smile on my face. I would definitely come back here, I don't care how expensive it is. It is COMPLETELY worth it. The food, the atmosphere, the back patio alone, that view is worth money. The staff just made me feel so amazing while I was traveling alone and really took care of me. I can't wait to come back and stay here again! Stayed January 2016 5 of 5 stars Sleep Quality 5 of 5 stars Rooms 5 of 5 stars Service

Yelp
Had two drinks at the Terrace-Bar, one Ron Zacapa-Sour, one French-75. My friends payed 400€ for an easy room and we visited them... We payed 18€ for our drinks each. I'm shocked. Dirty table, no napkins, cigarrettes everywhere on the ground, no nuts, bored stuff and the worst sour i ever had in my life. I can't believe what happened here. Never again..
google avatar

Yelp
First the room wasn't ready so we had to cool our heels after a long trip. While waiting, we were offered little bottles of soft drinks that turned out to cost 6€ each! Then, the air conditioner failed to cool the room so I couldn't sleep. There are a lot of choices for hotels. Don't choose this one.

Yelp
This is a beautiful hotel! From the garden next to the canal, to the rooftop executive lounge, to the gym that's oriented to look down the water from the treadmill, the details that they paid attention to in this hotel make it worth the stay. I recommend going down to the dock on the water and snapping a picture or two, also the bar has a great fireplace and comfy seats. Everyone was friendly from the bellman to the front desk. Highly recommended!

Yelp
This hotel is very misleading from the outside. Trust me!! Its a fantastic hotel inside, gorgeous decor and very very friendly staff in all areas of the hotel, including bars, front desk, restaurants and Concierge Lounge on the roof. Great place to stay.

Yelp
Amazing service from bellman to check in to concierge to amazing breakfast crew and every other Hilton employee at this property. Everyone is passionately engaged in providing above and beyond service ! My wife and I both agreed we would never consider staying anywhere else in Amsterdam . A real well run Gem !

Yelp
Service is great and if you are a gold member you are likely to get an upgrade. Very professional staff. Ask for 10 percent off the canal cruises.

Yelp
Bottom line - it's not in the center of all the action; however, Amsterdam is a small city by area, and you are about a €11.00 taxi ride as of May 2011, or the tram is about a 5 minute walk down the street. As far as Hilton properties go, this one is pretty average in terms of how nice it is. Most international hilton properties that I've stayed at have been on the newer side. I redeemed Hhonors points for a free night, and reserved a king bedroom. As a Diamond VIP member, I was "upgraded" to the 9th floor. The view was pretty nice. However, the "king" bed was simply two single beds pushed together with one large sheet over the top... sleeping diagonally on the mattress was NOT very comfortable. I'm not sure if they ran out of real kings and did this as a last resort, or if all king rooms were like this. This was the only negative part of my stay. If I were to stay in Amsterdam again, I'd consider this property again, but primarily because I'm a status whore and would prefer to earn qualifying stay/nights for next year's elite status. Cost of the 1 night was 50,000 HHonors points (booked one day in advance).

Yelp
Don't be fooled by the photoshopped pictures here (or on the Hilton website); this hotel is nothing close to the five-star facility it boasts and depicts. My wife and I stayed here as part of our honeymoon to Europe and were immediately taken aback by the building's age. Honestly, the place looked like it hadn't been updated since 1969; in fact, the elevators in the lobby--old, converted telephone booths--only worked half the time! As someone who is well traveled and has stayed in my fair share of nice hotels, this one looked much more like a hostel than it did in the photos it advertises. It wasn't just the facilities that were deplorable, however; I've given this place one star primarily for the service, which was insultingly poor. We waited an hour to be checked in, despite having only two parties ahead of us (and the fact that I am a Gold--and had been Diamond for many years--Hilton Honors member). It appeared as though everyone was stuck at the front desk to complain about their rooms (or the elevator, or the food). Yet, the staff were unable to help. When we finally got to the front of the queue, a woman ("Supervisor Naomi") immediately blew us off. Rather than apologizing for the wait, she told us to "hold on" and ran off, then instructed her trainee--for whom it was clearly her first day (and didn't even speak Dutch!)--to pick up phones rather than assist us! Unbelievable! But wait . . . There's more . . . ! The trainee, unable to check us in, told us to wait for Naomi. When we finally got her attention, I politely asked if there were any nice King rooms available. As a loyal Hilton Honors member, I am usually entitled to such a request--especially since I had already paid extra for a "deluxe room" to celebrate our special occasion. Naomi said she would "upgrade" us to a "King Deluxe Canal View" room in the center of the building. But when we went to the room, it was clearly neither "deluxe" nor "King." The room was approximately 150sqft in size, with two single beds--and it reeked of cigarette smoke. It was filthy, reprehensibly styled, and looked much more like a hostel closet. We returned to the front desk to request our old room back, but first I had to ask Naomi why she had downgraded us to a much smaller room with twin beds. I was fully aware of the different room types and knew the one she assigned us was probably amongst the worst in the entire hotel. And here's where it gets really amusing . . . When I asked her why a "King Deluxe Room" was tiny and had two single beds, she replied that "in Amsterdam, there is no such thing as a King Bed. Maybe in your country you have such a thing, but in this country we only have twins and queens." I looked at her puzzled and replied, "I'm sorry, but why are you trying to pull my leg? We just stayed in another hotel here that was full of King-sized beds." I felt insulted and, frankly, dumbfounded as to why someone would blatantly lie rather than try to fix the problem. Yet, it was consistent with her dishonest attitude; I had earlier asked her about access to a "lounge"--an amenity she had offered to the customers ahead of us (and which I knew to be on the top floor of the building). In response, she said, "I'm sorry, sir, there's no lounge here. However, we do have an Italian restaurant downstairs that has great pizza!" I was shocked that someone could prevaricate so openly, without batting an eyelid (note: I later discovered the Executive Lounge was only for Diamond members . . . though you'd think she should have explained this to us rather than deny its existence). I then asked her why she had downgraded us to a smaller room, feeling strongly as though she had deliberately deceived us. She looked at me beleaguered, then angrily. Feeling we were getting nowhere, I then asked to speak to her Manager, to which she responded that, "I am the Supervisor." She then started sobbing and ran off (apparently, to the Executive Lounge, where we later found her eating). I could write a much longer review, but suffice it to say, Naomi should either be fired or taught a thing or two about customer service. After she left, the Assistant Manager, Guillio, stepped in to try and remedy the situation. While I appreciated that he ultimately upgraded us to one of the suites (which, unfortunately, was also quite dirty and dated), he also defended his co-worker and even threw a few zingers at us in the process. Some of his remarks, I hate to say, would have been construed as racist where I'm from. He actually made a number of statements about Asians that struck me as stereotyping and discriminatory--not something I've ever experienced at a hotel before, let alone a "five-star" one that allegedly caters to foreign travelers. Frankly, I felt insulted and disrespected by his attitude. Clearly, the staff here all need sensitivity training. Check out the Hyatt Regency for superior service, amenities, and food--you will not regret it.

Yelp
A medium to good experience while in Amsterdam. Pros are The location is great Roberto's is a good restaurant on the premises Very quiet Very friendly staff What I did not like so much was Breakfast opening at 7am for a business hotel is late in my book. Also the set up of the buffet is very strange and cluttered. The rooms are clean and the bathrooms are newly remodeled from what I could gather. However the actual room appears pretty dated and old. Internet for 25 euros per day in this day and age is a pretty hefty charge, most hotel provide it for free. I enjoy hilton very much and is generally my preferred place to stay. Here in this house I generally felt the lack of innovative features and ideas. The general ambience felt old fashioned and is not so much my cup of tea. The price of the room was about 300 usd so not a real bargain either. Would I come back? Not sure to be honest.

Yelp
The staff at this hotel really was amazing! There was no accommodation too big or too small for them to make! They took great care of us! The location is just a bike ride away (which you can rent from the hotel) from everything we wanted to do! I really can't say enough good things about our experience here. We even arrived in Amsterdam around 6:30 AM and they had our room prepared and let us check in early! I hope one day I get the chance to visit again!

Yelp
Had a X-mas party/drinks @ the Hilton last Tuesday and have a few remarks to make ;-). Must admit I have only been in the lobby and restaurant though! 1) The outside is afwul; the building is a square concrete block.. 2) The inside is as beautiful as the outside is ugly.. 3) Service is okayish. We had a 'private' gathering but the waiters were a touch slow on service. A pitty and definitely not necessary 4) The food was fine but nothing to special Luckily I didn't need to pay the bill myself and the party/gathering itself was nice :-)

Yelp
This is a decent hotel if it's your second stay in Amsterdam. While not in city center, there is a tram line a short walk away. Museum Quarter is only a few minutes away. Located on a canal, it's quiet and away from the hustle of city center. You can see some of the new exhibits as part of Art Zuid just outside of the hotel. From what I can tell they also rent bikes. What I didn't like was the staff. I understand Dutch service but this is the Hilton for pete's sake. My parents, who of course overpacked, had to struggle to get their large suitcases into the door as 4 men in brown jackets (the bellboys) looked on. Finally one approached us and motioned for us to roll their suitcases to the cart trolley. Really??? The beds are comfortable. Again the area is quiet so if you want to be away from the hustle and slew of stag parties you often find when staying in city center then this may be the way to go. Just don't expect the same level of attentiveness that you would expect from a Hilton.

Yelp
I stay at a lot of hotels, chain and independent, and I was extremely happy with our stay at the Hilton Amsterdam! The staff was incredibly professional and friendly. They went well above and beyond to accommodate us. The room was impeccable and very quiet. Food from room service was excellent. Highly recommended this hotel.

Yelp
Great hotel, beautiful view of the canal, close to public transportation. The staff helped us with all our requests. My husband and I were celebrating our 50th anniversary. We came back to our room to find iced champagne, chocolate treats, and a lovely card. The only complaint would be the tables in the executive lounge, they hit you right in the knee when you pull your chair in. Great food for breakfast.
