This was hands down the worst hotel experience we’ve ever had. The main reason we booked this place was for the access to Resorts World Beach, but when we checked in, we were told it would be closed to hotel guests on both Friday and Saturday because of Virgin cruise visitors. Our stay was from Thursday to Sunday, so that basically meant we had access to the beach for one day only.
At check-in, we were also told our room wasn’t ready at the standard time due to a large number of spring breakers checking out. We figured we’d wait by the pool and relax, but that was a disaster too, overflowing trash, loud partying, and just a generally gross vibe.
When we finally got our room, it had dirty windows and trash on the balcony. The hallways leading to the room felt just as bad, unclean, full of open rooms still waiting to be cleaned. It honestly felt more like a college dorm after a party weekend than a hotel.
We complained about the late check-in and got free breakfast, which normally costs around $72 for two people, which is crazy. But even that felt like a ripoff. The breakfast selection was minimal and absolutely not worth the price. They offered coffee, and when we asked for cappuccinos, we were told that was extra.
No one gave us any information at check-in, no guidance on luggage storage while waiting for our room, no directions to the room, and no general info about the hotel or what it offers. We weren’t even told how to get to the beach or what alternatives there were since we were denied access most of the time.
We were supposed to stay four nights but ended up leaving after one, it was that bad. The hotel advertises multiple restaurants, but most were closed. Basically, there was a sushi spot and some bar food, and that was it unless you rented a golf cart and left the resort, and even then, options are limited.
The whole place feels abandoned in the evenings, no atmosphere, no entertainment, nothing going on. It just feels like people show up to realize there is nothing to do.
We booked through Hilton using points and were lucky to be able to cut our trip short, but it still took hours to sort it out. The hotel claimed they’re no longer part of Hilton, even though we booked through Hilton and the bill still says Hilton, so there was just total confusion.
Thankfully, Hilton helped us out, but this place absolutely does not live up to their standards. If Hilton has really pulled out, they need to make sure the branding is removed everywhere, because right now, it’s misleading.
