Hilton Barra Rio de Janeiro

This beautiful and comfortable hotel in Barra was fantastic for a brief stay upon landing in Rio. Every staff member we encountered was professional, efficient and kind. The rooms were lovely, and the breakfast was one of the best hotel buffet's I've ever experienced. We would stay here again and are grateful to Alexandre and the staff members who helped make our stay such a pleasure.

I’ve stayed here several times and as time goes by the quality keeps dropping. What once was a great experience has shifted to a very unpleasant one (specially when you are paying the “Hilton” price tag). This last time was (literally) the last drop, no pun intended: they have serious plumbing issues. The first room I was offered had a nasty smell coming from the toilet. Really nasty stuff, sewer level stink. I immediately went back to front desk and asked for another room. After a bit of a condescending exchange with the staff (him being condescending to me) I got a new room. Unpacked and started getting ready for a work appointment when I noticed a freaking POOL OF WATER next to the toilet. There was a leak somewhere. Had no time nor energy to fight for a new functioning room again and just threw a towel on the puddle to contain it. I was getting late to my appointment. When I went in the shower noticed more plumbing issues: super weak water pressure and another leak… Just gave up altogether, got dressed and left. Since I just stayed for one night I didn’t make a fuss about it when checking out. But I’ll never come back again. PS: super sad to see they have the whole furniture made to accommodate a fully stocked minibar but since a couple of years ago removed all food and beverages from it and now you have to purchase goods at the lobby… what is this? Ibis mentality? They have the building structure but are slowly degrading the service into a 3 star motel while still maintaining the Hilton brand. Sad.

This hotel needs to improve its breakfast service. Around 9:45am the dining area becomes completely inundated. A single omelette station to serve hundreds of people? Lots of coffee, but no tea and the orange juice runs out regularly.

Staff universally excellent. All very friendly and helpful. The rooftop pool and bar were a particular highlight. The only downside was the location. You need to take a taxi to pretty much anything other than the mall next door.

Rooms are comfortable and the overall feel of the hotel is modern, clean and welcoming. The gym is quite poorly equipped though and breakfast is an absolute shambles (not enough options, not enough seating). The hotel is also quite some distance away from Rio centre and Copacabana + Ipanema. The public transport nearby is not that useful (also very long travelling distances). Traffic from the main street across the hotel also does not make for a good nights sleep.

I chose this hotel because I was able to get a suite for a much better price than the beach hotels. While the distance to the major attractions was really far (and traffic is horrific) ,we still enjoyed the peace and quiet that comes with being away from the touristy areas. The room itself was a little dated and needed a refresh, but it was very spacious and had pretty sunset views from the balcony. We arrived early and had to wait hours for our room. This was disappointing after 11 hours of travel, but I took full advantage of a pool cabana for a nap.|What I loved about the hotel:|They have outlet converters you can borrow in case you only have 1 like we did. The Executive Lounge has a full meal for their evening receptions. We were able to order margaritas which were delicious! |The balcony of our suite gave us lagoon and Mountain Views that were beautifully lit during the evening sunsets.|What I would change;|Update the furniture and TV’s. They were outdated and the tv resolution was pretty bad.|Put better furniture on the balcony.

I had the pleasure of staying at Hilton Barra Rio de Janeiro, and it exceeded my expectations in every way. The hotel's impeccable cleanliness, stunning rooftop views, and exceptional staff made for an unforgettable experience. The service was top-notch, and I couldn't have asked for more. Without a doubt, this was the best hotel experience I've ever had. I highly recommend Hilton Barra Rio de Janeiro and look forward to staying there again in the future.

Spacious room and bathroom with a great shower. The service is excellent, especially during breakfast. However one needs a car to go anywhere.
