Why You Should Visit Germany’s Ore Mountains - AFAR

"Before heading up to the mountains and down into the mines, enjoy a stay in Dresden. Indisputably one of the world’s most beautiful cities, it’s a great place to shop for locally made fine porcelain and hike in incredible nature, among many other delights. Right in its heart, overlooking the Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady) and adjacent to the Procession of Princes, the Hilton Dresden is also within easy walking distance of other cultural monuments, including the Semperoper opera house, the Zwinger museum complex, and the New and Historic Green Vault within the Residenzschloss (Royal Palace). The property is also a great place to unwind and live well, especially at the Vis-à-Vis café set along Brühl’s Terrace—affectionately known as “the Balcony of Europe”—overlooking the Elbe River."

Diamond member. Got an upgraded corner room. The view was amazing. The room was nicely sized, bathroom a bit smallish. The air conditioning not great. Our room did have windows that opened so that helped. The concierge very friendly and helpful. Breakfast really great. The executive lounge a bit small and limited hours compared to most.

If it wasn't for the location this would have been a disaster. I think it's been said many times before (over a number of years) but yes the decor is very dated. The rooms are all clean but just very tired looking, ironically this had been the only Hilton on our trip to charge us the pet fee. Friendly staff at reception and the location is really perfect right in the heart of the action for a stay over I'm Dresden. It looks like they have taken taken action on the numerous complaints about the shower curtain, but simply by removing it. We had no shower curtain in our room which meant water simply went everywhere in the bathroom

Wonderful hotel and amazing location. The staff are very professional and friendly and the breakfast buffet is great. I would recommend this hotel anytime and will definitely be booking again in the Future

Truly and awesome hotel in a wonderful spot. Right in the heart of the old city, with historical places all around you. The room was fantastic and the staff was very friendly. If you have a chance to I highly recommend spending a few extra Euros and staying here.

The most perfect location for your stay in Dresden right around the corner from the old town square and Frauenkirche Lutheran Church. Short stroll to the River Elbe & Dresden Zwinger which is where the Hop on Hop off buses leave from. Rooms were dated and small but consistent with Hilton standards. Gym was very good, pool was closed and had “technical” issues. Executive lounge was good and consistent with Hiltons worldwide. Room service was of good quality and prompt service. The bistro downstairs was pretty average which is why I only dined there once out of 3 days. Breakfast was extensive and consistent with Hiltons elsewhere. I’d highly recommend staying here as the location pretty much makes up for the down falls.

The location is excellent, but the gust offering is limited. |Room service closes at 10pm, your only option is to buy drinks at reception. And even then, you have a soda choice of only full fat coke or full fat fanta. |Came in a group, some people had a stocked mini bar, some people didn't - I didn't, even then soda choice as per the menu was the same.|Breakfast was uninspiring and had to ask them to refill the eggs.|The overall hotel could do with some TLC, black marks on the walls in my room, curtains could have done with a clean and over all sprucing up of the hotel needed.

We stayed in room 5081 for three nights without air conditioning. A call to the front desk resulted in someone from maintenance top opening a window. The windows are prevented from swinging open by a locking mechanism. A curious observation is I couldn't locate any information on their website stating that rooms were air conditioned. Now I wonder if my expectations were too high.|The foldout bed was bent and difficult to extract and return.|On a more positive note kudos to the Honors program who patiently explained the tram system and special kudos to the Irish housekeeper who finally extracted the bed. I understand she and others are part of a collegiate internship program that reflects well on Hilton.|A week before I left I received an upgrade offer from Hilton to upgrade to a king corner suite for $67 dollars which I applied for. Upon arrival I inquired if the upgrade was available and after some backroom discussions we were |disappointed that all king corner suites were sold out and unavailable. As there was an AC/DC concert Tuesday that doubled the price of our room that may be true.|Note that there is a 6% Dresden tax that is added onto the room rate. This is stated on the invoice, but it may not be obvious to everyone.|The hotel is located well in the Alstadt along with some other great hotels that offer actual air-conditioned rooms for the same price.

Google
The room was a little outdated but what made the experience horrible was the fact that the air conditioning did not work at all. It blew out hot or warm air no matter what setting it was on. When I called they were feted to open the windows for me. I had a 8 year old with me, we seated through the whole night. The hotel after mentioning it simply did not care. They claimed it functioned after I complained having left the room but were not able/willing to check it whilst I was there. I keep getting more and more reasons to ditch my Diamond status and move to Hyatt (already Platinum with Marriott). I will not stay there again!

Yelp
One of the best hiltons we have stayed at. Amazing location, awesome staff. Executive lounge was top notch. Was raining when we left for the train and they got us a cab in just a few minutes. Highly recommend and plan to come back for a longer stay.

Yelp
As a Hilton Honors Diamond member and one who travels very often, Hilton in Dresden Germany is by far the best Hilton I have ever stayed at. The cleanest, coziest, and very spacious. The staff is beyond accommodating from the bell hop service and front desk, grabbing you a umbrella before you head out on a drizzly evening or to make you a custom breakfast that's probably the best I've ever had, this Hilton is absolute and they should be the example that every Hilton Hotel should follow. I've never come across a more friendly staff, that help guide you around the city and places to eat and check out, constantly smiling and making sure your stay is exactly the way you intended it. They have a nice gift shop in the lobby with lots of gift ideas to take back home as well as being centrally located in the heart of the city. Amazing place that I absolutely can't wait to come back and experience again soon. Until next time Hilton Dresden, thank you for everything.

Yelp
I loved my stay at the Hilton Dresden! I spent my HHonors points and enjoyed a complimentary night here. The hotel is in a great location, within a 15 minute walking distance to the train station, and close to many of the town's tourist attractions and restaurants. The hotel is tucked down a little alleyway so it feels more private and exclusive, and it was a quiet place to stay. The rooms aren't top of the line, but they have been updated slightly and are very comfortable. Our room had a small but clean bathroom and plenty of room (especially by European standards). There was even a fresh rose on the counter and a fruit plate waiting upon check-in. We booked a room on the Executive Floor which gave us complimentary access to the Executive Lounge. The lounge is fantastic here! They have free snacks and soda, water and juice and special happy hours in the evenings with heartier snacks and free beer and wine. The staff was excellent and provided us with a hassle-free stay. This hotel is an excellent choice in Dresden.

Yelp
Stayed here one night and wished I could stay longer! Short business trip to Dresden, this hotel is located at the center of the city, everything about this place was great. Friendly front desk staff is always there should you need anything. They kindly upgraded to a corner suite and it was so nice, I thought I could live there. They have a large size gym and nice size indoor pool as well as a jacuzzi outside. Too bad I couldn't take advantage of their nice facilities. Arrived late and left early in the morning, so only time I had for anything was 5am in the morning. I borrowed an umbrella from the front desk and enjoyed walking around for over one hour taking pictures and enjoying architectures of the city. Although my stay here was so short, I throughly enjoyed my stay here. I hope to come back, ideally on holiday someday.

Yelp
Very nice hotel with lots of amenities in the heart of town. Good sized room with a very comfortable bed. Very nice breakfast and a very comfortable Executive lounge.

Yelp
The loveliest hotel. If I could live here, I would. The location is amazing; the desk staff, bell captain and housekeeping people are professional and helpful. See you in December 2021, I hope.

Yelp
Outstanding service, excellent location right next to Frauenkirche. Checking in was easy and fast, reception staff was extremely polite and helpful. Breakfast was tasty. Concierge went above and beyond to help us find a cab that could fit us all in.

Yelp
So... we all know I'm a snob when it comes to travel (if you didn't, you know now). And this place is good. Not great, but a solid four stars. The pros- the location. Not so close that you are in the middle of everything, but close enough to make your trip all on foot. Easy to get to the sights, food, trains, etc. The service was adequate at the front desk, room service and maid service. Concierge was so so, but we only asked a few questions. They were just a little... snooty. The food in the executive level was good, but they served the same things every day. It would have been nice to have some changes. The rooms.... need a little help. They are starting to show some age. Wallpaper is getting rough and some items in the bathrooms are worn and need some attention. But nothing that was going to ruin our stay. The beds were okay. Better then other Hilton's, but far from the standards that I'm used to. Overall. It's a 4 star review. From my point of view.

Yelp
Very nice Hilton location. Excellent location, clean rooms, nice staff and a good executive lounge if you have status with Hilton. Convenient underground parking. Got a very good price just over 100 Euros in January which is off season I'm sure.

Yelp
Family vacation and we loooooved this hotel. We're from Georgia, so obviously we felt at home in a Hilton. Location is in the center and we could walk to all the great museums. Clean rooms, cushy soft beds, and quiet rooms for sleeping late. Gorgeous exec. lounge. Food is excellent. Hotel staff very hospitable/professional, and exceeded our expectations. My teenage kids thought this was the BEST.

Yelp
This Hilton is located in the heart of Dresden. Many things are in walking distance. The place is well equipped. I was pleasantly surprised by the health club. It features different saunas, a steam bath and pool plus the usual fitness machines. The place is clean the staff is friendly. The executive floor rooms are spacious and quiet. One minor detail business travelers appreciate would be USB charge ports. Other than that, there is nothing to complain about.

Yelp
The hotel is very nice. The room and amenities are very good. Due to the HHonors status I was upgraded to the executive rooms -- they have a full floor of those. The food/snacks/beverages at the executive lounge were great. The front-desk personnel, including the concierge was very helpful. Overall service was good but what I would call "cold". It might be a national specifics though, I don't know. It was a bit unpleasant to encounter a few things that were not working in the room: the safe battery was dead (they quickly fixed that), and the phones in the room did not produce the ring. Because of the phone problem, I missed an important call that I was expecting. While both problems were fixed, I was surprised that when I was reporting the phone problem, the front-desk person was unable to understand the nature of the problem ("but we are talking now!" - "yes, but it doesn't ring for the incoming calls" - "but you were able to call us, right?"), but it might be the language problem, even though that employee was speaking perfect English. After 4-5 minutes, the temperature of the water in the shower was fluctuating at least in the morning. And as with all Hilton properties, there is one constant annoyance: even with the free wi-fi that I am getting because of my HHonors status: I have to re-enter my room number, etc every day. That's annoying and extremely inconvenient, since I have to o that on my laptop, cell phone, etc.

Yelp
Okay, I am biased because my friend is a Hilton Honor's member, so we were upgraded to an executive room, which was super comfy. They don't have the best Executive lounge, as in strict snack times and locked beverage cabinets, but the breakfast in the morning makes up for a lot. It was great. The staff was wonderfully welcoming and pleasant, and assisted us in getting a taxi in the morning with ease. They certainly took out all kinds of stress and worries for us.

Yelp
Very nice hotel, very comfortable, very friendly staff but at the same time very basic. No private guest bar or table service in the lobby. That leaves you with just your room to sit in if you want a quiet drink with friends.

Yelp
I have previously visited Berlin and got recommended to visit Dresden. So I did. This hotel is located very well, right next to Frauenkirche and the old town. We are hhonors Gold members and got upgraded to exec floor with free afternoon tea and evening cocktails. Very good service and a fantastic Hilton. One of my favorite ones in Europe.
