Yelp
No airport hotel has ever evinced the word "Wow" from my lips in a good way, until the Frankfurt Airport Hilton. It's a beautiful property, adjacent to a place that fills me with anxiety (the airport). From the grand entry, to the comfortable rooms, it is like a little oasis in an ocean of chaos (to mix metaphors). It's a business hotel, but leaning toward the luxury side in terms of comfort and classiness.
The check-in staff was top-notch, and they were the only staff we had to deal with.
Room was super-comfortable, reasonably sized, and the shower was the largest we had had in 10 days and three previous hotels in the region. It was great to be able to walk to our terminal for our flight after check-out, and also to be able to walk and take the air train from the Hertz rental counter after dropping off the car. (NOTE: From within the airport terminal, it was difficult to find my way back to the Hilton, and I wandered aimlessly for a few minutes, unable to find any signage. Look for the signs to "New Work City." I probably took the long/wrong way back.)
Downsides:
1. Parking for check-in: The little "temporary parking" area was full, yet there was no one else checking in when we arrived, so shame on whoever was taking up those spaces. I had to park in a taxi zone, and was worried about being towed, but it was OK. When I was done checking in, and went to move the car, the area was still full.
2. View. The architect should be demoted and whacked on the head with a big wurst. No one should ever design a building with a view like this, not even a prison. At least it was quiet.
3. Dining. Choices within the hotel are limited, and seemed a tad pricy. In other circumstances, we would have been happy with what was there, but on this occasion, we just wanted an easy, inexpensive meal. Fortunately there are plenty of other choices in the "mall" area outside the hotel. (We were happy with the Paulaner restaurant, for beer and German comfort food!)
I would happily stay here again, on travel nights in and out of Frankfurt. I would probably not stay here other than travel nights though, because it is not near places where I am likely to do business or sightseeing.
