Conrad Hilton would roll over in his grave at what they have become. We have made reservations there for years; but could not reach them yesterday to reserve a room for last night. So I went on Hotels.Com to book a room. They sent me a confirmation with the wrong dates, so I imemdiately used my cancellation insurance to cancel it, literally 3 minutes later. Then I called the hotel directly, and they said "no problem, we'll re-book you." So I did. When I got home today - they billed me for BOTH reservations. I called hotels.com, and they said the hotel had to approve the refund / cancellation. They tried calling the hotel - and the hotel said they would not. When I first called the hotel, they said it had to be done by hotels.com. Then I called customer service at Hilton, and they said it was up to each facility (*so everyone was lying to me). Finally, the hotel said they said they would not refund the 1st deposit, as it was "company policy." So I had a room reserved literally for 3 minutes - and they said, Hilton hotels, which once stood for something, 'screw you. We're keeping your money.' Moral of the story - STAY ANYWHERE ELSE in Chesterton. Or anywherre else. They are not interested in good customer experiences anymore. No drinks or snacks, none, in the room for late-night travelers like ourselves. Plus the coffee is the lounge was empty, at 8:00 a.m. Terribly disappointed in how far this chain has fallen. Will NEVER return. Not sure why anyone would ever put themelves in the hands of people who lie with impugnity. So you can keep the $260. I consider it the cost of learning that Hilton now stands for nothing. You're going to need to keep all the deposits you con people into giving you to pay the bankruptcy lawyers. I would give them 0 stars if I could.
