Am in the Frankfurt area on business and had a chance to stay at both this hotel and the Frankfurt Hilton which is adjacent. Both are great, uber-modern and easily accessible with a 5-10 minute indoor walk from Terminal 1. For the $ (about $100euro less per night), this is the better bet in my opinion. I stay in a lot of hotels during a year and HGI's tend to be a favorite for their consistent delivery of comfort, convenience and amenities. This is not the brand that is going to knock your socks off with luxury. No bellmen, no shoe shines at night, and no Michelin 3-star restaurants. They do deliver a homey feel, free wi-fi, comfort food restaurants and a welcoming atmosphere for tired travelers. Had the front desk staff greeted me in English instead of German, I could easily have thought I was in any town, USA instead of Europe upon arrival.
I did enjoy the look of this place. A lot of glass and steel with an interesting layout that shares a gym with the adjacent Hilton and views from the glass elevators of the Hilton internal courtyard as well as the Lufthansa offices above the train station. Really kind of cool. Taking the elevator to my room was almost as entertaining as watching the Japanese tour group in the lobby try to order a bier!
The rooms are smaller than US standards but have everything you need including a tub shower with a normal curtain (a rarity in Europe), in room coffee maker, LCD TV, an a memory foam bed. I did not find the bed uncomfortable and it was definitely as nice as any others I have slept in across Europe.
The restaurant is serviceable with a decent breakfast buffet and if you don't want to eat at the hotel, there is a cafe/bistro about 50 yards outside the front door and down the escalator along with a coffee house and the main train terminal.
Like I said, nothing surprising or over the top here. Just a consistent hotel experience which is just what I needed after changing 7 time zones. I'll have not problem staying here again anytime I travel through Frankfurt.
