"Popular with honeymooners and families alike, this large coastal property is located on Moorea, a quiet, lush island known for its beautiful mountain scenery and ample hiking opportunities. The hotel sits right on the lagoon and offers garden rooms and bungalows, many with their own private plunge pools, as well as fabulous overwater bungalows with glass floor panels in the living rooms and private decks with direct stair access to the warm waters below. Free kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and snorkeling gear are available for those who want to explore their aquatic surroundings, though there’s plenty to do back on shore—from lazing on the white-sand beach (or in a hammock) to getting a massage with traditional Tahitian monoi (gardenia) oil. One of the highlights of a stay here is the chance to visit the hotel's overwater bar, allegedly the only one in the country, where tiny sharks congregate every evening at sundown for feedings."

We stayed at the Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort for our honeymoon, and while the scenery and location are undeniably beautiful, our experience unfortunately fell far short of expectations — especially for a 5-star Hilton property. • Wi-Fi: The internet connection was a complete mess — constantly disconnecting and extremely slow when it worked. This was frustrating, especially considering the resort’s category and price point. • Room Keys: Our room keys stopped working four times in just four days, requiring multiple trips back to reception to have them reactivated. • Breakfast Policy: As Diamond members, we had breakfast included, but here they differentiate between “cold” and “hot” breakfast. Hot breakfast — which simply includes eggs or pancakes (not particularly fresh either) — costs an additional $9 per person per day. That’s quite disappointing and feels like the hotel is trying to squeeze every extra dollar from guests. • Diamond Benefits: Early check-in and late check-out, which are standard Diamond perks, were both denied due to “availability.” • Entertainment: The resort lacks any real evening entertainment. Everything is quiet after sunset, with only one Polynesian show offered three times a week — and you must pay $100 per person to attend, including a rather average buffet dinner. • Room Condition: We stayed in an overwater bungalow, which was pleasant overall, but the structure is showing clear signs of age and insufficient maintenance — several pillars of the bungalows have visible cracks. Overall, while Moorea itself is stunning and the overwater experience was enjoyable, the stay felt far below the standard expected from a Hilton resort, especially for loyal Diamond members. There’s great potential here, but significant improvements are needed in service quality, maintenance, and guest experience.

We visited the Hilton Moorea for 4 days after a cruise which ended in Papette. We stayed in overwater bungalow 109, at the end of the pontoon. This bungalow has a great view of the sunset and the water is about 4.5 feet deep so we could still stand, which I like. The king bed was comfortable, the rainfall shower was fantastic and there is a viewing port in the floor near the sofa to see all the colorful fish swimming by. The room has a Nespresso type coffee machine and a mini bar which is free and restocked daily. Make sure to visit the crepe bar and restaurant which is over the water for happy hour. The food is fantastic! I found all the food and beverages to be good and the prices cheaper that what I paid in Hawaii recently. The staff is all very friendly and accommodating. A few words in the local language or French goes a long way to establishing a friendly rapport. A big thanks to Oline, the front desk manager, for making our stay extra special. Also, Tehotu at the pool is one of the friendliest hotel employees I have ever met. He knows the local area well and gave me great advice on what to do and how to enjoy my time. He has a great attitude! In summary, the place is beautiful and we really enjoyed our stay. We hear they are planning a big renovation and can't wait to see the improvements. We will be back!

Great time at Hilton Moorea for the first few days of our honeymoon before heading to Bora Bora. The breakfast buffet is amazing. Staff is friendly and helpful. We did a tropical view room with a pool and didn’t feel like we missed out on the bungalows (saved our money for this in Bora Bora). Definitely recommend. Pool area is gorgeous! We would recommend skipping the buffet/polynesian show dinner for the price.

Awesome experience to relax with amazing views. There are many adventures/tours close by. Shuttles were provided by moorea activities center for our atv adventure. As well as for the boat tour/snorkeling we did. Staff was always welcoming and friendly! They got me out of my comfort zone (which I always appreciate) to learn how to open a coconut. Our room and the amenities close by were great! Can’t wait to hopefully be back some day.

What a dream this was. We stayed in the overwater bungalows and it was a bucket-list stay! ||The property is lovely and so well maintained. They snorkeling right off the beach and around the bungalows was the highlight of our stay. Getting in a snorkel or swim right after coffee on the porch was something so unique. Watching the fish swim around under the bungalow was delightful. We saw sharks, rays, eels, and so many fish. They also have paddle boards and kayaks you can take out on the turquoise water. ||The food was really good- so many great options of fish. You can eat a lot of local foods on the Polynesian nights. And the other nights, you can have great standard food at the beach restaurant or higher end meals upstairs. ||This was one of the most unique places I have ever stayed in and I would recommend it to anyone, even if just for a few nights.

Overall experience was great. Not perfect. But all problems were addressed. I came with relatively low expectations due to the reviews I read here. I also had big disappointment when I noticed that our bangalô (#26) was separated from the other one just by a door. There was no information about that when I booked the room. I complained and the manager addressed and gave different options to us which I was very happy with. The highlight of the hotel, after the beach, for us was the crepe restaurant where you can see sharks while having dinner. They come after 7pm. And the crepe is just like in France. Snorkeling at the beach is a great experience. The hotel offers kayaks, snorkel, paddle boards, etc. The breakfast is good and plenty of options to choose from. The bangalô we stayed was very nice and I did not feel outdated. It was just rustic, which both of us liked. The best drink is the mocktail Virgin Colada made of coconut. I also liked that the hotel was not crowded. Just the right amount of people which is rare. There are some cons that I wish they could fix: - We were warned about a $150 fee if we lose the plastic keys. This is way too much and made us be worried about the keys all the time. Those keys cost $0.10. - None of the outdoor furnitures had cushions. For a luxury hotel was not nice - Plastic cards for towels, seriously?

Came here for my honeymoon. The check in process was VERY long. There were a lot of people arriving at the same time. While our room and view was absolutely beautiful, the food was AWFUL. I honestly couldn’t even believe a Hilton was putting out food that bad. Every meal we tried there was consistently bad. We ended up eating at the Manava restaurant down the road as they had AMAZING food and tried the Sofitel, too. For the price of the stay, they need to improve the food. The pizza was the worst I’ve ever had, the poke bowl was very mayo heavy and didn’t come with a lot of tuna, and their French fries were so dry. The breakfast buffet had a good variety but every single item was undercooked. So disappointed.

This trip was truly a bucket-list experience. We went to celebrate my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary and stayed in bungalows perched right over the ocean. ||Days were filled with snorkeling, reading on the beach, and simply soaking it all in. Our package included breakfast and dinner—both delicious—with great drinks and service that went above and beyond.||Evenings brought live shows, which were fun but quite loud since they were staged inside the restaurant; moving the entertainment outdoors would make for a more relaxed vibe.||We brought our 10-year-old, who had a great time, but I’d still say this is primarily a couples’ resort—lots of honeymooners and romantic getaways.
