I redeemed a free night here with my Hilton points. The hotel was nice, but nothing special. I had no problem redeeming my points and although I requested a high-floor room (the hotel has 16 floors including the lobby), I was given a room on the second floor.
I was able to check in early (around 1200). The rooms are large and clean but overall the hotel feels very, to use an American English colloquialism, "meh." The lobby is nice and open. Overall the decor feels very early-mid 1990s. A lot of beige paired with blue and pink hues with highly polished "silver" accents (draw pulls, lamps). It could use a bit of updating.
As for location, the Hilton is located next to the Englischer Garden which, if Wikipedia is correct, is the largest public park in Europe. I visited in November after a recent bit of snow, meaning I didn't explore the park. If you're looking to hit downtown Munich, such as the Marienplatz and the Cathedral, this is not walking distance from those attractions. A cab ride from the hotel to Marienplatz is about 10 Euros plus tip.
I really have nothing to dislike about this hotel, other than high prices for on-site services (6.50 for a small bottle of water from the mini bar, seriously? And no, I didn't get it.). One nice thing is that they had ice machines on each floor, which is a rare find in Europe from what I have experienced.
I really didn't care for this hotel, but I have no reason not to like it, my stay was free, the room was very clean, and the staff was friendly, so I can't rate it below 3-stars and feel I have been fair. The bottom line is; the Hilton Park Hotel just wasn't anything worth experiencing again. If you're looking for a memorable stay in München (Munich), look elsewhere.
