"The new Hilton Norfolk hotel known as The Main was opened in spring 2017 as the latest phase in the revitalization of the downtown waterfront area. While the 21-story hotel is largely new, it also incorporates over 500 pieces of limestone—kept in storage for years during construction—from the historic Decker building, built in 1912. Modern rooms overlook the city or the Elizabeth River, and guests have access to an indoor pool, fitness center, and rooftop lounge with seasonal yoga classes. On the ground floor, seafood restaurant and raw bar Saltine brings in historic downtown Norfolk, with exposed brick walls and garage-style glass doors that open onto the patio; a weekday happy hour and Mule Mondays feature a changing selection of cocktails. Varia trattoria and wine studio serves sophisticated Italian with a 24-bottle Cruvinet wine dispenser, live piano music, and hidden “speakeasy” dining rooms. The rooftop beer garden, Grain, is the place to be in the summer, with more than 100 beers on tap, a billiards and game room, and regular live music and special events. Health-conscious guests can grab a superfood smoothie from the organic, plant-based Fruitive downstairs before heading out for a stroll around Norfolk's harbor."

I recently stayed at the Hilton Norfolk The Main, and my stay there was the best hotel experience that I have had in a very long time.||My room was spacious, modern, and well-appointed. The bed was incredibly comfortable, with crisp linens and soft pillows, making it easy to get a restful night’s sleep. I also appreciated the large windows offering great views of the Elizabeth River.||Upon arrival, the check-in process was quick and seamless. The front desk staff were friendly and professional, making me feel welcome right away. Throughout my stay, the service was excellent. I would like to commend the hotel staff for making me feel so at home with every need taken care of. Most notably, I would like to thank Leah, front line manager, and her staff for their professional and excellent delivery of service, which was the primary reason I had such an exceptional stay.||The hotel is very stylish, well-located, offers excellent services, comfortable accommodation, and a range of amenities, which made my stay a very delightful experience. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Norfolk.

We stayed here last Christmas for 2 days and had a wonderful experience. Our room had a beautiful view overlooking the harbor and the Water District — it was the perfect setting for a couple’s getaway. The atmosphere was peaceful, and we truly enjoyed our stay. Would definitely recommend this place and would love to come back!

Google
Really great location with the surrounding area, amenities, and stuff to do in the surrounding area. The hotel looks very nice and had zero problems here. The attached restaurants have really good food with the saltine having amazing seafood for the area, grain for amazing tavern style food and snacks, and Varia for an amazing breakfast.

Such a beautiful and elegant hotel, we always have a great dining experience on the roof top, the restaurant staff is very friendly, our room was well appointed and had a great view, the hotel staff members are so friendly and knowledgeable. We love the location and taking walks to Waterside and Nauticus. This has become our favorite place to be in Norfolk.

I went to "The Grain" which is the restaurant on the top of the building. We went there for their Brunch Buffet Saturday. IT WAS AWESOME!!. The ambiance was great and they had a DJ playing there the whole time. Each food section is different. When you walk through the door to you're left is the breakfast buffet. With all your breakfast foods and quiches and fruits. To your far right is the lunch buffet items. In the middle is the raw bar with all the seafood. There is an area for all the breads and an area for all the desserts. There is also an omelette station and a taco station. They will make the food for you fresh. This is a great place to go with friends or on a date or even go by yourself if you want some good food.

The Main is amazingly beautiful and the staff are simply the best! Daniel checking in on my staff daily to make sure everything was going smoothly. Great location and water views, so much to do around Waterside. Walking distance to so many things.

Google
This hotel is very nice. It's one of the best that I've been in. With its highly detailed lobby and three on-site restaurants. Including the nice short walk to nearby restaurants and water views. It's hard to pass up on this hotel. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The room service, if you so choose, has an amazing staff. The food was enjoyable at all three restaurants. If you're staying in the area, I would highly recommend staying here.

Normally I would not pay nearly $400 for a hotel room, but it was convenient to our appointment.  The room was nice, but not clean.  There was a used facial cotton on the floor behind the trash can, a small wad of hair clinging to the wall by the mirror, and crumbs on the carpet by one of the windows.  We paid for breakfast with our room rate and it was ok.  Good variety, but the only thing I would say that made it above average was the variety of fresh fruit.  The coffee was awful.  We had dinner in Saltine and it was good.

Yelp
My travel plans changed and I was arriving a day earlier than expected. The front desk personnel were extremely helpful. They could not get me into my already booked room, however they did put me on the same floor, with a late checkout, so that I could move over to my already reserved room. What a great service to provide!

Yelp
Fantastic conference facilities and service! I'm an exhibitor, among 20 other tables, and the coffee service in the exhibitor room was fantastic, with all the accoutrements. Spotless restrooms. Lunch buffet is among the best I've seen. Salmon and pork tenderloin were also options, along with this tender chicken breast. Super tasty mixed roasted veg, and 2 salad options as well. Desserts were a Panna Cotta and a delicious apple/pear Tart. Is this really banquet food?!? :-) Highly recommend booking an event here!

Yelp
Absolutely adored this hotel! The interior is stunning, making it an ideal choice for special occasions. Indulge in the delightful restaurants and bars it offers. Conveniently, there's a parking lot right next to it.

Yelp
Nice hotel in downtown Norfolk decorated for the Christmas holiday. Clean lobby and rooms with great views on upper floors, especially corner River rooms. Beds are comfy, HDTV, and Keurig in room; coffee k cups sucked (1 regular coffee cup for 2 people!) and so did the hvac -- room set to 70 but temp was 79; had to turn on ac to get it down, only for it to heat up again against the setting. 3 good restaurants on property with enticing happy hours. Parking is steep ($13-20/day).

Yelp
Beautiful, clean & comfortable room with an awesome view. Gorgeous restaurants and the hotel itself was beautiful. Ihighly recommended it.

Yelp
The room was fine - clean, and furnishings were updated and relatively new. No microwave in the room which was disappointing. Hence the 2 stars. It went downhill from there. For almost $400 a night, we would have expected to be able to go to sleep at a reasonable hour (11pm since we had a 3.5 hour drive early the next morning), but the loud thumping noise and voices from the bar downstairs made that impossible. The floor shook, the walls shook, the windows shook. It was ridiculous. My husband said, "It should close by 1pm", nope. Didn't stop until 1:22am. We were on the 11th floor and this bar is on the 5th floor. I even tried ear plugs and then my iPod. Couldn't hear my music turned up as loud as it could go using my headphones. We wish we had seen the reviews from the past 7 years which stated the same experience with this noise. Why does it have to vibrate the entire structure and be so loud???? We definitely will not be staying at another Hilton property.

Yelp
I enjoyed my weekend here at the Main. The room is super clean and comfortable!! After a fun day at a festival at waterside, it was nice to walk a short distance to the main and relax and have an amazing night of rest!!! Also, great restaurants nearby and inside of the hotel!!!! Great deal!!!

Yelp
My niece and I stayed at the Hilton for one night. It was a great experience and we enjoyed our stay. We had a two queen bed room, the staff was friendly, and the breakfast was great. The Hilton is located downtown which is a 6 minute walk from the theater where the concert we were attending was held. There a lot of food places surrounding the hotel and three inside.

Love this place! Spent time there for a holiday party my employer hosted. It was a grand time, and beautifully decorated.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel! They offer valet parking but I found parking fairly easy in the connected parking garage. P3 offers direct access to the registration/hotel lobby. (Keep your parking ticket on you.) Check-in was easy. My room was beautiful and clean. I slept SO GOOD. The hotel overlooks the water and is accessible to so much! I was going to drive to the mall until I saw it was within walking distance. There are restaurants + bars in the hotel and PLENTY within walking distance too. The staff are awesome + friendly. I would definitely stay again.

Yelp
I have stayed here several times in the past few years, and all have been great experiences, EXCEPT this most recent experience. The quality of service has gone extremely downhill and I will not stay at this property again. *Service: Slow, absent, employees don't seem to want to be there.* Upon check-in, I was checking in with a training staff member. All of that is fine as I recognize everyone has to train at a new job. However, it took an inordinate amount of time for him to check me in. For breakfast, there was *no one* at the Varia for a good 15 minutes. Everyone in line, including me, just sat down. For a business hotel, to keep people waiting for what should be a quick breakfast seems sub-par. *Exec lounge perks: serious issues* The breakfast at Empyrean has gone way downhill. I've stayed here before and it was much better in previous years. Don't like it? You won't get a complimentary breakfast at Varia! If you take any hot food item, it's automatically a "full breakfast buffet" charge. I have never ever had that happen at any other Hilton except for this one. Moreover, I was traveling with my Mom who bit into a cashew at the Empyrean lounge and saw a LIVE moving insect that had burrowed into it. We showed the attendant who promptly threw away the canister, but RIP to anyone else who was eating it before we made the discovery. Makes me feel like the food was expired. Just shows poor attention to detail. I called the front desk to get a resolution on some of these issues and the person who picked up had a hot mic moment and literally said "kill me." Not exactly the attitude of a person I want to talk to when I'm already displeased with service. I asked to have a receipt sent and the employee mockingly said "OK I'll send it AGAIN." Seriously? I finally called Hilton's customer service (not part of the hotel) and managed to get a resolution. I refuse to stay here again and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Yelp
I stayed on the 12th floor with a view but so be aware that there is a roof top bar at 5th floor ~ Grain ~ and if you have a view over looking the roof top it's going to be be try noisy until Late. so if you're light sleeper and need to get your snooze early then definitely try to ask for a room away from the bar. Room was okay but the pillow on the bed really need some updating it was like a kid size pillow that just wasn't long enough to roll in any direction. All of them were like that and super hard... arghh can't seem to understand why they can't just have a normal standard size pillow. The valet parking check out area was also not straight forward. Although the lobby is nice and all and location is around so many places to walk around and eat but ... definitely need some adjustment / instruction on how / where to get parked valet.

Yelp
This seems to be the happening spot for locals in downtown. Great 5th-floor restaurant with an outdoor patio overlooking the river. The room views are fantastic, especially those facing the river. Great size TV, however there is no channel guide. You can download the StayConnect app for free but have to pay $.99 to get a guide. Friendly and helpful staff. King bed is comfy with 4 pillows. Ice machine is behind a secure door, and that reduces the sound for rooms nearby. Really nice size fitness center with good machines and a somewhat decent view. Since it's COVID times the rooms aren't being cleaned.

Yelp
All of the food we have for brunch was GREAT, I was a little nervous because of the price but trust me it was well worth every dime.

Yelp
Karmiya, Tory, and Lacresha at the front desk were all super helpful and amazing. I had a rough day and they vowed to make it better. The hotel is gorgeous, clean, and in a great location. I'm a Hilton Honors Diamond member and they made my stay extraordinary! Kudos to The Main's team. Thank you!! I'll definitely be back. Karmiya is a wonderful leader! Thank you all again.

Yelp
I've been to this site several times. Mostly, bc I like Fruitive which is located in the lobby, and also because I like to visit Selden Market which is co-located and can be accessed through the back part of the lobby. This Hilton has a nice parking garage with valet (if you choose) or you can self-park for a fee. The lobby is beautiful and the rooms are well-done. It's fairly new (like the last 5 years) so the hotel still feels that way to me. The two restaurants are both good - a seafood on the bottom floor that serves brunch and a bar-type establishment on the 5th floor with a lovely patio and more relaxed menu with live music. I've stayed here for the Norfolk half-marathon weekend and had a room with a lovely view of the water overlooking Suffolk. From this room I was able to watch the Norfolk Christmas Parade and had a great experience with early check-in and a good night's sleep. I have no complaints about my stay and visits here, it always goes well and this hotel is a nice addition to the downtown Norfolk scene.

Yelp
I would love to give this hotel the Hilton Main and downtown Norfork a 5 star rating however check-in was less than favorable I was sent a email to check in early for an additional $25 I did reply back and request the check in 2 weeks prior and again about 4 days prior again in an email one day prior a 3rd request for the early check in which would give me time to decorate the room for my husband Birthday since we were expecting guest. My sister and other friend from out-of-town guest town had all made reservations and had checked in check in some one hour or 2 hours earlier, which was available to them. We are Hilton honors members and on the app I'm available to select my room which I did one day prior a prior the room was not ready when we got there at 4:40 I was given a room and the keys went to the room the keycard did not work. I return to the front desk only to realize while I am in the elevator that it was not for the suite that I had preserved through the app this key card was for the suite 2 floors above. All of my guest were on the same floor as the room I selected on the Hilton app. I return back in the elevator as the bellman had held all of my luggage and bags downstairs in a holding area. When I arrived at the correct room , the front desk agent did not tell me there was a room and floor change. Soon after, the bell man came with the cart full of my luggage. This delay cost my party of 20 to be late for our 6:00p dinner reservations. Which kind of threw off our evening. Aside from the total frustration at check-in I did enjoy the spacious room and the evening event that followed. The hotel staff were all very polite and helpful.

Yelp
I recently stayed at this hotel and had a truly satisfying experience. From the moment I pulled up in front of the building and a staff member greeted me, to "Stephen" who took care of my bags and met me on the 3rd level of the parking deck, to the check-in desk clerk, this was only the start of a really nice stay. The room was very nicely appointed with a stunning view and all the amenities I could ask for including meeting my own "quirky" standard of good water pressure for the shower. I was also able to dine at the Grain restaurant on the fifth floor (which will be reviewed separately), but that was also a really good experience. Overall, a really great stay at an excellent location.

Yelp
The location of this hotel is great! Close to so many restaurants so you don't have to eat hotel food all the time at those insane hotel prices. This hotel has also had some really nice renovations and the water views are beautiful. The downside is that you can hear the boats horns throughout the day, so if you were trying to rest, it wouldn't be very peaceful. The first night we were there, my coworker and I thought the music we heard was coming from the restaurant just below our windows, but it turns out the music that they pump outdoors at the entrance floats up and plays 24/7. It was so loud, neither of slept that first night and we had to ask to be moved for the remainder of our stay. It's also weird that when I called to ask about the music, they had no idea what I was talking about. I have a feeling I couldn't have been the first to complain about the volume of the music, and why must it play 24/7? The last thing people are thinking of when they check into a hotel at 1am is whether this hotel plays bangers all the time. The staff however, was very nice and accommodating for both myself and my coworker and we ended up a couple doors down from each other on a much high floor where the music was a non issue.

Yelp
doug andersonjust now on Google 2/5 It ain't a Four Seasons Hotel. We booked a suite and arrived at 1:30pm. We were told that we couldn't check in until 4pm. I said I'd called and spoken to someone who said we could check in when we arrived. We were told that nobody can check in between 11am and 4pm as they have to clean the rooms. I GLARED. SHE BACKED DOWN...............BAD START. The hotel is perfect for a mid-class wedding. I wouldn't return. Surely in Norfolk there are more upscale places. $500 for a room seems high in Norfolk. There are no taxis in the area. I waited for 20 minutes once then used Uber.......that's the solution. Yes, the suite was fine............not good, not great........fine. At 11am on the day we checked out a person banged on our door to tell us to leave. I said I'd called downstairs to say we would be leaving an hour later. He said "ok dude"............that's the style of this hotel. Oh yes, when we checked in we went to have a bite to eat but were told that we couldn't as they close at 3pm. THEY ARE CLEAR THAT THEY WANT STAFF TO HAVE TIME TO CLEAN..........be it rooms or restaurants. Frankly, the views have been blocked by other places. I'M SURE THERE ARE BETTER PLACES IN NORFOLK WE SHALL NOT RETURN. That said...............the woman at the front desk this morning was terrific and helped me with my airplane reservation. BE NICE TO THE WOMEN AT THE FRONT DESK. WHEN THEY GET THAT YOU'RE OK (OBVIOUSLY THEY ARE MISTREATED) THEY ARE SMART AND NICE. NEVER AGAIN. D

Yelp
Great stay at Hilton Norfolk. We attended a wedding here this weekend and I must say it was a great time. Staff was super helpful and courteous. Our room and view was amazing. I enjoyed that it was conveniently located. We were able to walk to a variety of food places. Overall, great experience and I would stay here again when visiting Norfolk.

Yelp
Four stars for the property and the service I received from the bellhop only. Very nice hotel located in the heart of Norfolk. The bellhop lady was super nice and so accommodating. She wouldn't let me carry a single bag insisted on transferring all my stuff from the car to the luggage cart. I felt bad I was traveling with a lot of stuff. There was single line for the front desk that was incredibly long despite there being a sign for Diamond members to utilize. Waited 30 mins to check in. The room was nice, and the bathroom was spacious. Hilton changed their breakfast policy for Diamond members in July. Instead of a complimentary breakfast you now get a food / beverage credit. The amount varies depending on which Hilton property you stay at. It clearly states the credit is up to two people if the room is booked for two. I was told by the manager Tameka that the credit is only $12.50 regardless if it's one guest or two. Frustrated I took a screenshot of the Diamond benefits listed on Hilton's site and showed Tameka. I asked her to look into it and she realized she was wrong. It's frustrating that the manager does not know what the Diamond benefits are insisting I was wrong.

Yelp
TMI train rolling through. I decided last minute on my birthday to get a room and surprise my children with a night at the pool and poolside service. We also picked up my sister and my niece. I knew it would be pricey, but i also knew it would be worth it. I wasn't prepared for how great it turned out. Soooo, the reason I did this was because I had just spent the last week in the hospital, with a vomiting virus that I just couldn't shake. Plus my ex-husband also just moved out a few days before my birthday. Syeta and Amber checked me in quickly, and then proceeded to shower me with love. They gifted me cocktails at Grain, drinks and apps for the 3 children ANDDDDD breakfast for my whole group in the morning at Varia. I made sure to tip each restaurant's staff handsomely - because they also deserved it. I always wanted this specific birthday to be spectacular - they made sure I went to sleep feeling exactly that!
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
This is a beautiful hotel. The front desk staff is very friendly. The room was very clean with no issues. They have multiple restaurants which serve breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner , late night roof top bar just to name a few. This is the place to be. Within walking distance to restaurants and the mall. We had a great time!!
google avatar

Megan C.

Yelp
I am writing this review as I am waiting for my car to be brought by the valet... I will go through each interaction I can recall. Check in - it was amazing. Joseph helped me out and was very friendly after a long day of travel. His smile and kindness made my evening so much better. Thank you Joe! The room - I booked a king but they oversold and I was unable to get the room type I wanted. At a corporate rate of $459 a night I would have expected better. The bathroom - the mirror has a nightlight in it that glows blue and you can't turn it off. The bathroom door is a frosted glass. So even closing the door, the room glows from the mirror. If you like to sleep without a bunch of things glowing, take an eye mask! The shower - water pressure was very low and took forever to get soap out of your hair. The temperature also changed up and down during the shower. I had received a text from the front desk asking about my stay and let them know. They noted they would send an engineer up to fix it. Well, day two it was the same problem so the issue was not addressed. I also did not receive a response back. The bed - super hard and took me forever to fall asleep. Check out - super simple on the app Valet - don't do it! I will start by saying the women who was at the valet is super kind. There are no hours posted at the valet booth or on your ticket. I had an early flight so I left my room around 6:30. Took the elevator down to the 1st floor. Walked to the valet corner and when I could see the window it was closed. There is a sign saying to contact the front desk. No phone number. So I go to the escalator since there is a convention at the hotel and the elevator banks are full of people. Well, the escalator is closed. So back to the elevator bank to go up one floor to the front desk. Show the associate my ticket and he says he will have security get my car and to go back to valet. He pulls out my keys from a box and puts them in a drawer for the security guy. Tells me it will be 5-7 minutes. So I go to valet and stand at the curb with my luggage. I am the ONLY person on the curb let alone with a suitcase. I see my car come down in about 7 minutes (at least they didn't lie about the timing) and he drives past me. Flipping drives right by me. The valet desk attendant is now on site as it is past 7 and she is there for her shift. She runs after the car waving her hands and he doesn't even see her. The security guard then drives my car out of the garage and over to the front. So the nice lady walks me to the front and makes sure I can get in my car ok. I wasn't in my car until 7:10. FORTY minutes to get a car from valet and a ton of frustration. Not a great way to start a long day of travel. I had to sit in my car for a few minutes as by this time I am so frustrated all I can do is cry. I waited over an hour to write this so I wouldn't be so emotional. To all who got this far, thank you. Oh and to the manager who saw my frustration while I was getting back in the elevator to go to valet to supposedly pickup my car and offered me a cup of coffee I appreciate your kindness. I wish I knew the gentleman's name as well as the valet attendant. They were very kind. The associates are the only reason it isn't 1 star.

Yelp
I have mixed feelings about the Hilton Norfolk The Main. I love the proximity to the waterfront but Hilton - come on. This is the second city hotel I've visited within a few months to find the short end of a mixed bag. Prior to check in, I tried reaching the hotel for two hours. I couldn't get through. After arrival, our room was nice enough. With the sweltering heat, the indoor pool was a delight. I wish the rest of our stay was as lovely as the view and pool. All three hotel restaurants - Grain, Varia, and Saltine were random in quality. It's not that difficult to remove the discoloration spots from lettuce which any kitchen hand worth his or her worth would know it loses flavor and nutritional value at that stage. They did know enough to hide it under accoutrements, though. Room servicing was equally as random. Our empty shampoo and conditioner bottles were put back in the toiletry tray and the toilet tissue was not replaced. That could have been awkward in the middle of the night had I not called the front desk. There was more, but...anyone reading this, including the hotel, should get the point. Also, there was no benefit at all in being a Hilton honors member here. Could have been great. Instead, it's a 2 or 3 star out of five.

Enjoyed my stay at the Hilton immensely. Manger Tyler runs a 1st class operation! Modern room with all the amenities you could ask for. I shall return!

Yelp
Phenomenally beautiful hotel with some interior blemishes that make it not worth the price we paid. We stayed two nights on the 21st floor. While the beds were comfortable and the air conditioning was fantastic, both of our televisions were inoperative. Parking was a mess that eventually took a manager to just tell us to tell the city their machine was broken (we were one of several guests who could not get the machine to print a ticket upon entry for the hotel to validate). Elevators are constantly crowded to the point where folks below our level were unable to get on and had to call a new elevator, which I am sure was beyond frustrating for them. Pool was nice but pretty chilly. Gym was well-stocked. Would go back but would want a slightly lower price and all of my room to work as designed.
google avatar

Shannon H.

Yelp
Definitely one of the best hotels in Norfolk apart from the lazy guest service employees and weird elevators. Beautiful pool and the gym has a decent view. There's 3 restaurants in the hotel 2 of which are available for room service. One other small thing is I had 2 rooms each room had 2 beds, 2 of the 4 beds were missing soft pillows and only had the smaller hard ones. Clean rooms with nice views and the building is absolutely beautiful. The elevators are sort of junk, if multiple walk in at the same time it bobs up and down a bunch, one time I entered and the door was twitching open and close for a few seconds before it opened completely and we all got out, the doors also take forever to shut and the key reader in the elevators works 50/50 I always have to try a couple times. The guest services just aren't polite and helpful over the phone, they tell you to come to the desk to get something then hang up rather than offer to have it delivered to the room and give you attitude after you came all the way down for a towel.

Yelp
My wife, daughter, and mother-in-law were staying at the Norfolk Main hotel because they were in-town for a family friend's wedding. On Saturday, Feb 3rd, at approximately 6pm, they were leaving the hotel to attend the wedding party dinner when my mother-in-law tripped over the curb in the parking garage and fell face first to the ground. The parking attendants called 911 and ambulance came to take her to hospital. At the hospital she was finally diagnosed to have a fractured jaw and her four upper teeth had been pushed back into her mouth. She was released from the ER at approximately 5am the following morning. My wife texted me and asked if I could call her behalf and ask for an extended checkout since they got back to the hotel at 5:15am. I contacted the front desk at approximately 9am and asked for an extended stay on their behalf, and I even explained the situation about my mother-in-law falling on hotel property and the fact they had been at the hospital for nearly 11 hours. The first person that answered the phone put me on hold to speak with the manager, and when she got back on the phone, she told me the manager wouldn't allow my wife, mother-in-law, and daughter an extra hour or two to wake-up and prepare to leave the hotel. I politely asked again for that decision to be reconsidered, and once again I was told, "no". I have been a Hilton Honors member for over 20 years and I always use Hilton unless my company sets my hotel reservations with someone else. In my 20 years as a Hilton Honors member, I have never ran into such inconsideration, and I want someone to speak with the hotel front desk staff and especially the manager about customer service. I would also like the hotel to contact my wife and mother-in-law and apologize for their lack of compassion. As of a week after the incident, we have not heard anything from the hotel staff, much less the hotel general manager that my wife personally emailed about their experience.

Yelp
Clean, well appointed hotel with modern finishes. Staff was exceptional, and the view was amazing. No issues what so ever! Easily walk to many bars and restaurants, as well as the USS Wisconsin.

Yelp
I attended a continuing education class this past Saturday. This review is primarily for use of the conference rooms. Hands down this has to be my all time favorite to attend a symposium/continuing education class. It's very clean. contingent upon who is holding the conference, parking was covered by the organization that sponsored this particular conference I attended. The conference rooms are huge! It's nice that they have two drop down projection screens on the left and the right so you're not straining your neck to read the power points. It's spacious, the lighting is great. There's a stage so the speakers can be seen wherever you are seated. The PA system was wonderful until after the lunch break. there were a few difficulties with the speaker's mic at the podium and the sound wasn't completely working properly. They had standing mics on the left and right for attendees to ask questions for each speaker. The food at the venue was delicious! Contingent upon what organization/sponsor is holding a continuing education course at their facility will determine whether you are fed or not. The particular course I attended included breakfast that consisted of egg, cheese English muffins, yogurt with assorted fruits topped with granola, varieties of fruit options and juices, teas, coffee, water etc both bottled and in a beverage dispenser located in their main foyer on the 4th floor. During the breaks, the snacks provided were chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate covered nuts, pistachios etc. A Lunch buffet was also included with the specific conference I attended which compromised of couscous, vegetable stir fry, two types of salads one containing shrimp, baked chicken and salmon, along with a tomato basil soup. I can assure you the quality of the food was fantastic. I thought the food was finished for the conference . However, I was wrong. After lunch and another break, freshly popped popcorn, donuts and an assortment of ice cream were added to the line up of snacks. Hilton's food presentation was fabulous! Regarding their bathrooms, they were very clean and abundant in numbers. I was overall impressed with the venue and should another conference be presented here I will not hesitate to attend as long as it's pertinent to my discipline. My only complaint was the temperature in the conference room was chilly. However, the organizer of the conference did forewarn attendees that the room temperature would be on the colder side and to plan to wear layers for comfort.

Yelp
I've heard so many things about brunch so I thought I'd try it. We went to the 5th floor and the wait was ONE HOUR AND 15 MINUTES for two people. I couldn't believe it but I walked around and smelled the food and looked at the buffet and put my name on the list. First impression is the decor and the music and the options on the buffet. I had shrimp, oysters, seafood chowder, potatoes, eggs, Mac and cheese, fruit, sausage. Literally any and everything you can think of for $22. The taste is about a 7/10. The decor and vibe of the place gives it a 7 but the brunch is really a 5. I've been here numerous of times for their dinner and happy hour specials and it's been so good but the brunch I may need to come again & try when they open at 10:00 a.m. so the food can be more fresh. OH, and we only waited 30 minutes! So id say it's worth another try! All in all, I enjoyed myself.

Yelp
I attended a conference here early in the year and had a great time. Five out of five stars! It was my first time in Norfolk and the staff went above and beyond to make sure my stay was enjoyable. As soon as I entered the hotel everything was wonderful. The hotel is conveniently located right in downtown Norfolk in walking distance to all the main attractions. Each floor has unique art pieces for guests to view. I had a fun time going through each floor to see the different sculptures. Everything was taken care of from the food to the organizing of event spaces. The conference went by very smoothly and without any concerns. The food they served was delicious. Everything from the main course to the wonderfully placed dessert trays. I could stay here for days. My room had a great view of the city. The bed was very comfortable and the room was very spacious. During my free time I was able to go downstairs to Grain if I wanted a quick meal or a drink. It had great outdoor seating for when the weather is beautiful and guests wanted to relax. I loved my stay at The Main and would love to come back next time I am in Norfolk.

Yelp
Wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff, restaurants, and cleanliness were perfection. Thank you for a great stay!

Yelp
Recently stayed at this hotel and was extremely disappointed. We stayed 4 nights and paid for a full river view room. The room was located 7 floors above the fifth floor outdoor restaurant which at night time had loud outdoor music and customers making it very hard to sleep. One of the dresser drawers was broken and had no handle and the face front kept falling off on the floor. Upon arrival the large window shade was not working and could not be closed the first night. The parking valet service was twenty-eight dollars per day and was non-existent as we had no valet service 2 days of our stay. The valet rate was adjusted by the hotel upon checkout. Housekeeping didn't change out the glasses daily. We ended up using the paper coffee cups as they were replaced daily. Finally, the pillows smelled moldy. Needless to say, we will not be staying here in the future.

Yelp
Who told this hotel to be so beautiful??? I've been here countless times before but never on floors other than the 1st/5th. The weather this weekend came with perfect timing to elevate this hotel to its full potential. Due to a conference hosted here, I was thankfully able to explore other floors. The employees (concierge, custodial) are beyond kind and helpful. On each floor they have decorative art and fashion pieces throughout. They even have multiple areas to sit and relax & I'm certain they had plugs available! Their conference rooms are so spacious and well equipped for the technology and amount of people throughout the conference. My favorite part was the dessert bar and drink fridges they had for us. Root beer floats, macaroons, Nutella dip, and more. Currently not eating sweets, but I heard everything was great! They even had an ice cream freezer?! Having water available was great to include their little logo and they had classic glass coke bottles amongst other beverages. They honestly spoiled us. Not sure if it was part of the deal but it was wonderful. Even the aromas from the bakery/coffee shop on the 1st floor were calling my name as I walked out the door courteously being held by an employee. Honestly told my boyfriend we need to stay a weekend to experience it more so I can't wait to visit again! Definitely appreciate this hotel a little more.

Yelp
This review is strictly from attending a whole weekend event only. We did not stay overnight. This building is absolutely gorgeous! Hubby and I attending a weekend event here in the main ballroom Friday evening through Sunday afternoon. The location is perfectly centered in Downtown Norfolk that also houses a number of bars and restaurants. They have parking garages all around but they actually have one there but it's actually hard to find. Customer service is on point. The cleanliness is immaculate. The views are amazing. Everything is basically made of either glass or light wood showcasing the city of Norfolk, especially in the middle of the day. The night view is equally gorgeous. Modern art is draped all over in either painting, sculpture, or photography. The ballroom is huge. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here ( and I didn't even stay in a room!). I cannot wait to actually stay overnight here in their rooms and eat in some of the restaurants inside!

Yelp
This is my third time visiting this establishment, oh wait let me start off by saying I had a good time with good service and good friends. The wait wasn't too bad because we arrived around 10 ish or so ( I know that's not a word but it seemed descriptive for this sentence )!. The host sat us down once the party arrived, the waiter was all on top of things.. keeping our glasses filled and asking if we needed anything and if we were ok ( sorry but I didn't get this gentleman's name ) but he did his job with professionalism and productivity! The buffet was good, they had a nice variety of breakfast food as well as brunch options to pick from. Everyone had to wear masks when they left the table and had to put on plastic gloves ( which they provided for your convenience ). They weren't the strongest gloves because they kept tearing as I was trying to put them on.. only had medium / large which was obviously too small for my hands but sanitizing was a priority which is very important. I would definitely recommend trying this establishment If you're in the downtown Norfolk Virginia area. Enjoy!.

Yelp
Even though services are limited Hilton is still providing outstanding customer service. Masks are required outside of your room while on property. You only have to call the front desk and whatever you need will be left outside your door, a small price to pay for everyone's safety. The staff are going above and beyond with the new normal and even behind the mask you can can see their smile as they welcome you to their hotel. No valet at this time so you will be self parking.

Yelp
Here we go again... another 5 star stay! OMG, I think this stay outweighs all of my stays thus far. And a lot has to do with the customer service I experienced from valet to leaving out the garage after receiving my car from valet. I am unsure of the gentleman that greeted me in the valet line, but Kevin was my point of contact... Kevin helped me with my many bags (mostly party items) and balloons... It was a cold and windy Saturday about 6 pm, but Kevin and a few other guys in the valet line made sure everything was cool. I almost lost one balloon... and one of the attendants saved it, grabbed it... I'm not sure how it happened, but when I looked it I saw him with one. He said he had to jump up to grab up... but I thought this was absolutely over the top service!! I arrived at the check in desk on the 2nd floor. I believe the young lady that checked me in was in "training mode" There was a more experienced employee next to her guiding her as well and making sure she remembered to covered pertinent talk points during the check in process. Check in was a breeze... the entire process may have taken three minutes. I arrived at room 2122 with my digital key and Kevin (the valet/concierge) was already there with the cart filled with all my bags. So they must have a walkie talkie system to relay the info... he beat me to the room. Kevin unloaded the cart in record time and asked if I need any other assistance... nope! I was just so thrilled he was there to assist! I could not imagine doing all that alone... a disaster waiting to happen. Fast forward... For this stay I booked the Executive Level which includes access to the Empyrean Club Level (private key access to the Empyrean Club Lounge service, complimentary breakfast, evening reception). Talk about fancy... We entered the Lounge about 7 pm... we missed happy hour, but the same offerings for happy hour I believe were offered throughout the evening. The Lounge closes at 10 pm by the way. We enjoyed the complimentary evening reception which included: unlimited bacon wrapped scallops (super yummy), red and green grapes, a variety of cheeses and crackers, non alcoholic beverages, access to the espresso machine... alcoholic beverages were available at a cost. The ladies working on Saturday evening... 02/03/18 were phenomenal! Olivia was the waitress it seemed and Shanique was the attendant greeting everyone and walking around the lounge to ensure everyone was all set. These ladies spirits were unmatched. They were not there just to do a job, but they made us and others present feel like family. Everyone we encountered that night from employees to other guests were all welcoming ... totally awesome vibes. Great job ladies!! The views from the lounge: Waterside District and the Elizabeth River... you go to another area of the lounge and you can pretty much see all of Norfolk... amazing! There are at least two televisions present and plenty of comfortable seating. The room stay was superb! The fitness center - on point and the pool... water temperature just right. Besides my five little ladies, there were three young boys in the pool. As a result, the pool size was just right, no over crowding at all. The pool deck/roof access wasn't available however. On Sunday before checkout... I stepped in the Lounge again to see what was for breakfast I saw several people waiting as if more food was coming... But I was able to taste the round omelet (mushrooms, green peppers and tomato) and the sausage links which were the hot food items on the buffet. Both were tasty, I especially enjoyed the sausages. Check out is at 11 am, but the girls were not ready... I stopped by the front desk and I believe Natasha was working ... I asked for a late check out and after a short search, she advised checking out at noon is available. Yay!! We arrived at the cashier/valet window on the first floor near the garage and the cashier was alert and ready to bring my car around. She asked about my stay... service with a smile. I assure here all was well. I am unsure of the name of the valet attendant that brought my car to us, but he was super pleasant... he made sure all our bags were stored in the truck in impeccable order. He did a really wonderful job packing everything in neatly. He was working Sunday, 02/04/18 about 12:15 pm a short to medium height Caucasian man in his 40s maybe... he was great! I almost want this hotel to be my go to hotel for any stay in this area. I just wish they included: a microwave, a mini frig (in the room) and a hot tub in the pool area. While these wishes will probably will not be granted anytime soon, it does not take away from the superior customer service and professionalism this hotel has displayed during all my stays. I recommend this hotel 1000% Have fun and enjoy life :)

Yelp
Dirty bathrooms and poor water pressure. Night club way too loud. Guests partying in the hallways. Management not the smartest or the nicest. Grambly street which is right next store is riddled with drugs, and drunk people. Don't waste your time....go to Virginia Beach, or any other place. Pretty sure there were more non guests in the hotel than guests. Like a bad college dorm in a party town....you would be better off staying in a tent.

Yelp
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G Hotel!!! Now for me to say that is a huge thing because my job literally has me in hotels 90% of the year, and when I tell you of all the places I have been in the world that the beds here took my number 1 spot for being most comfortable I am being extremely honest. The staff was great and the rooms and views, that I got to see from my room, were really beautiful. I even had the opportunity to go into the executive lounge and that did not disappoint either. It really was a great and amazing stay for me and I hope that I get to come back and stay here. It's located right by some cool sights and there are a lot of restaurants, and a mall, within walking distance. They really keep this location nice and have a very professional foreign feel to the location. I really enjoyed staying here!

Yelp
I had the opportunity to go to Norfolk for a community event put on by the Virginia Opera, having read a great review by Richmond Yelp Community Manager Lauri, I decided to book the Main, figuring I can't go wrong with this place. Hilton Norfolk the Main is definitely top notch, the service we received from the moment we pulled up until we checked out was on par. We had a beautifully appointed room with quite a vast view of the surrounding area. The location is extremely convenient too many downtown Norfolk attractions including Town Piont Park, Waterside, Nauticus, the Halfe Moone Cruise and Celebration Center. But Hilton The Main is an attraction in and of itself, with its own restaurants and bars. It is also an art gallery! You could, in theory, just go to The Main and have a great time without ever leaving the many comforts of the high end posh hotel. If in the Norfolk area, I highly recommend The Main, for a romantic getaway or for exploring the waterside area, you can't go wrong with this property.

Yelp
Hotel was beautiful and hip and modern. Rooms were nice and mine had a great view. They have really cool restaurants at the hotel as well.

Yelp
Attending a two-day conference here this weekend. This place is beautifully appointed with phenomenal art from various artists the world over! Even if you aren't staying here, just wander the lobby on all floors and you'll be amazed at the creativity of the various art work on display. The Ujamme or Tree of Life is one unique and exquisite piece of art lovingly depicting the beauty of Tanzania through its people carved out wood .. this hotel has multiple levels of restaurants and conference rooms to accommodate just about any event! It's an amazing place to just relax or socialize. I had been to Varia for my sister's birthday a couple of years ago and the food was great. I have not tried the other restaurants on site yet.. so just stop in this gem and soak in the culture!! They have a Fruitive for those trying to stay on a healthy path!
