I highly recommend this hotel if you're planning a stay in Chicago, and here’s why: My family booked a night while visiting the city, and from the moment we arrived, the hospitality was outstanding. Christian at the front desk was incredibly helpful and respectful, making our check-in smooth and welcoming. Additionally, Shaheen and Ridaa went above and beyond with their kindness and attentiveness, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all guests. Their warm service truly reflects the exceptional values of this hotel. I encourage you to experience it for yourself! All the best,

Nate Brav-McCabe

Worst hotel room I’ve ever stayed in. I paid $250 for one night. There were three large stains throughout the room. One big red one, that I had to hope wasn’t blood. The bathroom had rust in many spots. The toilet leaked water all over floor. The shower had about 20% the pressure of a standard shower. Worst of all, the bathroom light was broken so I called the front desk no one answered. I had to run to a dinner so I had to shave in the doorway of the room, because it had a light and a mirror. One my way to dinner, I told the front desk about my issues, they were very nice and said they would send someone up and at least fix the light. When I came back three hours later, it was not fixed, nor was there any kind of update. I contacted Hilton to tell them about my room and to ask for a partial refund or discount in the future and they simply said no, because I booked through booking.com. It’s not like it’s their hotel or anything. Anyways, never, ever waste your money here like I did.

Positive: I always stay here as it's closer ti Northwestern. The staff always accommodate my needs and respond to my texts if I need anything. Negative: Nothing. It's the best!

Service was low standard, even if everyone had sympathy. |Rooms had noisy clima system and small toilet. |Good breakfast. |Good location for Kellogg university. |Price too high for what it offers. |One of the colleagues was given a room with a guest already there.

1. Had we known that renovations were going on, we would not have booked at the hotel. ||2. Had we known that testing of fire, water and electrical systems was going on, we would not have booked at the hotel. ||3. On 10/01/24 we were assigned Room 636. Upon getting off the elevator, the paint smell was very strong. Room 636 was too small to accommodate a king size bed. There were only 2 or 3 inches between the foot of the bed and the chest containing the fridge and drawers and, therefore, we were unable to access the fridge or drawers or get to the other side of the bed. ||4. We notified the front desk and were reassigned to Room 708 - again too small to accommodate a king size bed. While we were now able to access the fridge, there were only 2 or 3 inches between one side of the bed and the heating / cooling system cabinet - in other words, not enough room to get into bed - had to climb in from the foot of the bed. ||5. The heating / cooling system was erratic and noisy, sounded like a portable generator. The only way to get any sleep was to turn the whole system off. ||6. On 10/02/24, we purchase a salad and placed it in the fridge for the next day. This morning, 10/03/24, we found the salad totally frozen as was everything else we put in the fridge. ||Although we were comped for the parking, the entire stay was a waste of money. The door to the room next door to Room 708 was open . It was full of construction debris - bins full of plaster etc. and the hallway floor was covered with construction worker footprints. ||Dishonest. Deceptive. Disappointing

I booked a stay at the Hilton on 9/27/24 checking out on 9/29/24. A few days later a charge appeared on my credit card for $75.12? I called the Hilton several times for an explanation, each time being sent to voicemail (Danny & Eila & front desk), and no one ever returned my calls. I finally got my bank involved and disputed the charge and the bank credited my account. Fast forward it is now 12/27/24 and suddenly the charge reappears on my card with an explanation that the Hilton was charging me for 2 days of valet parking.... I did NOT have a CAR! At this point it looks like my only option is to write reviews on the poor quality of the service behind the hotel. As for the room, carpets were dirty with stains, and worn out, there was still a previous occupant's food left in the fridge. Bathrooms are small with no place to set your tooth brush or makeup.

Google
Positive: Good location, historic building. Negative: Room was filled with cigarette and cannabis smoke the entire stay. We contacted the front desk who didn't do anything nor did they offer to move rooms. My wife has asthma and she was coughing at night. Terrible experience.

Google
Very relatable from all the reviews here. Unfortunately i didn’t take a look at the reviews here, but there’s nothing “Hilton” about this place. Very rude and dismissive front desk, they have given not one smile to me while checking in. My first room was chaos, there was stains on the bed, a big burnt spot in the carpet, and rusty old bathroom. I went down to change rooms and they again gave me a similar room with the same terrible quality. Very disappointed with this historic hotel which looked nice in the photos but reality was very different.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here to attend a conference. This hotel is AWEFUL. I don't have experience with Hilton's, but we chose it as this was where the conference was held and we had a group rate. The rate was INSANE for the horrible quality of the rooms available to the group. We were given a room on the third floor. Half the rooms on that floor don't have full windows, but tiny shutters for a small window that is at level with a roof. It felt dark, dank and claustrophobic. When we got in the room, I noticed the door was nearly impossible to open, then we realized we could not close it without significant effort and having to slam it. Also, all the furniture in the room was beat up and thrashed and the carpets were stained. The room rate was $169 plus tax! This was worse than a crappy motel. They literally charge you $20/night extra for a room with a mini fridge. Because of the door to our room, I asked to switch rooms, something I've literally never done before. It really was so bad. The new room was moderately better and at least had windows, but there are cheaper hotels in this market for nicer. 4 stars is laughable. MAYBE 2. The shower does not get hot. I am a cold human being, and taking a shower made me shiver for 10 minutes after. The toilet didn't flush properly even though it sounded like a jet taking off. The whole thing was horrible. Our reservation was for 3 nights, but since it was kind of a bust, we decided to check out a day early. Not once when told the front desk that we would be checking out a day early did they mention an early cancelation fee. We booked a much cheaper and so much nicer room by the airport since we had an early flight. We made the amendment to our reservation the day before we checked out, then we went to the desk to check out. They never even touched our reservation. Today I get an email that we just checked out even though we've already flown home, and a receipt for the entire amount. So, both times I went to the front desk they did literally nothing. So I call the number and sit on hold, yay. I manage to get a refund for the night we literally were at a different hotel (and told the front desk and checked out and they never did anything), but a $75 early cancelation fee. So, they didn't even seem to turn the room over as my app said we checked out at noon, the very end of our original cancelation. They could have turned the room around and made money, but instead charge me a fee. Plus, like I said, I went to the desk multiple times and they never told me this or updated my reservation, and have now had to spend a ton of time on hold to get my money back. I don't know if this is what Hiltons are usually like, but I'll pass from now on. There is no way that this place should be listed anywhere as 4 stars. It was barely economy and overpriced by a long shot. Just absolutely disgusting. I would give this hotel zero stars if I could.

Hilton Gold Honors. Assigned to what's more like the mechanical room. See photo of my window view.

Yelp
The primary reason I stay here is geographic proximity and cost compared to other hotels I'd feel comfortable staying in. I've stayed at this location many times and frequently encounter issues in my room - non-functioning A/C, fridge not working well, shower doesn't run hot water, broken toilet, and more. Front desk staff not always responsive or quick. Generally unapologetic. One time I checked out I explicitly said I did not have a good stay... desk person did not even bother to inquire why!! After that, dragged their feet to bring out a manager... manager never showed. Speechless Leaving a complaint through Hilton did not result in a follow up either. Just an increase in phone calls from their time share group.

Yelp
It's a shame what mismanagement has done to this property. I understand construction in hotels. I don't understand hotels where the management hides the fact that there's construction from the guests until well after they have checked in. One can only assume that decisions not to advertise construction on booking sites, not have signage anywhere in the lobby, not have the front desk staff tell you at check-in - literally nothing have to come from the top (in this case the hotel's GM Leticia Phocas). 2 rooms 2 nights $1,350 total bill and they offered me $80 as compensation for having my family awoken at 7am to the sound of impact drills directly over our beds. For sending us a note the night before telling us we would have no water from 9-11am, ruining the last day of our trip when we planned to sleep in - forcing us to get up early. And when the manager at the front desk offered me $250 in compensation instead of the cost of the last night of both rooms, the GM overrode that decision and reduced it to $80 or I could have a free night if I ever come back to the property - which I won't. Why? sinks that don't drain, sofas with blood or food stains, toilets that don't stop running all night, thermostats that don't actually shut off the AC when the room is cold enough causing it to get down to 60 degrees at night in the room - and more. There are too many good properties in Evanston for you to consider this property.

Ellen R.

Yelp
Do not waste your time or money on this dump. This hotel is under construction and you'll be staying in an active work zone. The front desk staff are horrible. The worst customer experience I've ever had in my life. I've stayed at better motels.

Yelp
Over the many years I have known and visited and once stayed in this hotel because our apartment was flooded while we were living in the area, I have seen many changes many efforts to improve. There are many improvements, but for someone with mobility issues it's challenging to say the least. The staff is very kind and helpful, but there are some things that either they don't know or shouldn't promise. For example, I was told before I arrived here that there would be a shower chair in the walk-in shower. There was no such thing and they couldn't find one and told me other people were clamoring for them. So they gave away the one that was promised? They have one transport chair and it's rickety and hard to push. Their utility lift was too small for my scooter There were four of us in a room with two queen beds. There were two minuscule little garbages that filled up so quickly. No phone charging cords near the beds and with two in a bed, there is no bedside table for the person on the outer edge. Generally speaking, it is an adequately supplied with charging ports. The bathroom has a tiny shelf for a few things, but if you have to put something down like a bar of soap on the sink, it's impossible. There is no place on the sink for anything and for someone in a wheelchair it would be impossible to reach and use. And there is no bathmat! Imagine that being mobility challenged and trying to stay upright. No extractor fan in the bathroom. Beds are only ok...they move and creak a lot.

Yelp
Very unhappy with the stay at this hotel. I remember when it was a classy hotel. Not very tired. Dirty . Staff has been ok. Our room was never cleaned . Dirty Bedding was in the hallways. Stained carpets. Beyond disappointed

Alicia S.

Yelp
Booked a room here for two nights to move my child into NU. $428/night. The whole hotel reeks so strongly of febreeze so if you are sensitive to that it's not the place for you. The issue for me was cleanliness. I found the hotel very run down and dirty. Some of this was just west and tear. Chipping paint. Dirty walls, fraying carpet, peeling wallpaper. But what worried me more was actual dirtiness. There was curly hair in the tub. Yuk. There was a dark schmear of something on the bathroom floor which I swiped with a wet tissue to see if it was a stain or literally dirt on the floor and it was the later. This concerns me because covid is on the rise and I'd like to believe that even if my hotel is a bit worn down and frayed, at least it's been thoroughly wiped down and clean.

Yelp
What could IMPROVE? Communication!! Had we known before we booked and paid for our room, we would have booked another hotel! We found out after we paid, that they were in the middle of a major renovation!! We are long- time Hilton Honors clients...never again.

Andres D.

Yelp
Was given a room with no working AC. Called the front desk numerous times and they sent their engineer to check it out twice and no fix. Their solution? We are going to send you a fan. I can see on the Hilton website that they have rooms available but they continue to say we are fully booked/committed.

Yelp
Ok, well we needed a hotel near Loyola (not Northwestern) and decided to go with the Orrington Hilton (in Evanston), because there was nothing available in Rogers Park. We had a rental car, so it was still really close - like 5mins more in the car. The staff was AMAZING. Sophia at the front desk was incredible, helped us with parking and way more than made us feel at home / treated us like family - so personable. Our son Charlie has a new friend. While not the closest to Loyola, we will stay here every time we go. If you are a Northwestern family, can't be a better place to stay. If you are a Loyola family and have a car - stay here. That you Hilton Orrington, thank you Sophia.

Kevalyn C.

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay at The Hilton Orrington. The staff were really nice and accomodating. The front lobby was very clean and organized. The hotel is across from the Library and within walking distance of lots of activities. The only issue I had was with the smell of the hallway carpet. Even though it was vacuumed, it has a very over powering musty odor. Most hotels have this issue, and its probably due to the high amount of foot traffic.

Yelp
DON'T STAY HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE CHARGED FOR BOGUS DAMAGE FEES. I stayed here for two nights. The quality of my room was fine but didn't justify the price. I'd give 3/5 stars except that after checking out I noticed an additional $275 charge on my credit card that was not included on my bill. I called the next day to figure out why and they told me it was a "blood fee" because, allegedly, housekeeping found "blood all over the sheets". Now let me be crystal clear: When I checked out there was absolutely no blood anywhere in the room. I am a male with no naturally occurring or regular bleeding, I had no bloody injuries (or injuries of any sort), or even a bloody nose. I was the only person to step foot in my room for the duration of my stay. I am 100% confident that there was no blood anywhere in the hotel room, especially not on the sheets. Either this happened in a different room and was mistakenly misattributed to mine, it happened after I checked out, or the hotel is deliberately inventing an issue to charge me more for. In any case, the person I talked to was unable or unwilling to either refund the $275 or provide any kind of documentation or photo evidence of the blood. They told me that for either of those things I would need to talk to the manager but that the manager wasn't available and that I should call back later. I tried calling back several times and every time was either given the same response or wasn't able to get through to a human at all. I tried calling Hilton corporate but all they were able to do was call the hotel on my behalf, and the hotel told them the same thing they told me (manager not available, call back later). So after trying to resolve this issue with the hotel itself, I gave up and filed a dispute with my credit card company. A couple other notes unrelated to the above: 1) My parents were also staying at the hotel (different room under different reservation paid with different card), and the ceiling in their room was literally falling down. Like paint chips and dust actively falling all over the floor in a several square foot area. 2) My 92-year-old grandmother was *triple*-charged for her stay. So yeah.... Maybe stay somewhere else.

Kenneth N.

Yelp
Honors Member. Room was not a hotel room. It was a giant box with 2 queen beds(what we asked for). The bathroom was tiny. You basically had to get in the shower to close the door. There was no closet. When we checked in there was an ironing board leaning on the TV console. The furniture was cheap Ikea furniture. I know this because the "A" "B" "C" assembly stickers were still visible on the outside of the furniture. Asked to have a safe in the room, they said they could put one in the room, but after 5 nights, they never did. This was some sort of utility room they turned into a really bad room. For $300 a night, you don't expect the Taj Mahal, but it totally feels like they were taking the piss here. That said, the people who checked me in and out were great. Everyone else, kinda dickish.

Eric S.

Yelp
Obviouslv to start with somebody else's clothing in the room which means that housekeeping did not do a good job. Then the room is really really outdated as well as the bathroom. Broken tile, etc. And then when I asked about parking, they said I could park out front so I paid the meter until 9 o'clock. They forgot to mention and I did not look that you cannot park from 2 AM till 6 AM so I got a $50 parking ticket. Also, when I called downstairs, I said did you guys have coffee.. but of course they had no coffee..

Coco C.

Yelp
I was extremely disappointed with my stay here and the condition of the room. My experience was extremely subpar for what the namesake of the Hilton line of hotels should be. The carpet had large stains all over, mildew in the bathroom, mildew on the wall, rust stains, and broken furniture. During my 3-night stay, there was construction going on one floor above. I was fine with the hammering and drilling during the daylight hours. But by 9:30 pm, the construction noises were still ongoing. The front desk informed me that the crew was "working late" that night, which is completely unacceptable. I had an early morning the following day, and it was very inconsiderate of the hotel staff to allow this to take place for a paying customer. The construction team "worked late" all three nights. For all of this hotel's problems, I can honestly say that the front desk staff members were very kind with every interaction, and I understand that they had little control as it pertained to my experiences. This is a hotel management problem that needs to be rectified. All in all, I am very disappointed. This experience has made me reevaluate the Hilton brand entirely. I might just stick with Marriott from here on out.

Pamela B.

Yelp
If only I could give zero stars... This was the worst experience I've ever had with a hotel. Arrived around 1:30 am Oct 26 - the only way in was to call a number and it went to an automated system. Tried banging on the door and eventually a very grumpy / rude employee came to meet myself and another guest trying to enter. She was more concerned with her own safety vs. safety / serving guests - made everyone stand outside while she verified whether we had a reservation or were staying at the hotel. Even though the hotel was informed I would be arriving late - they overbooked and no rooms were available. The employee managing the front desk simply told me to go to their other location. Didn't offer to help me get there (Uber out of my own expenses) and when I arrived at the other location the had no record that I would be showing up. Our company does a lot of business with this specific hotel, I've informed the team of this issue and advised we don't send people here in the future. There is clearly a problem with operations and serving guest arriving late at night. Frankly everyone who I saw interact with this employee had a bad experience and as a single female traveling I felt very uncomfortable.

Gena J.

Yelp
There were so many completely unacceptable things that happened, i'm not sure where to start! I have stayed in over 100 hotels and this one is literally the worst! Please don't disregard all of the other reviews that support mine! This place is a literal dump! The pictures that are posted are photo shopped beyond belief! These rooms don't look anything like this! Management did absolutely nothing to address anything! Please save your money, your frustration, and your time and choose another hotel!

Nicole E.

Yelp
Unfortunately I was in town for a funeral for a great aunt, a very close and favorite aunt. It was central between all of my aunts and uncles and cousins. It was close to where my aunt had spent 30+ years of her life too. My aunts, mother and uncle chose this place. It used to just be called the Hotel Orrington before Hilton bought them out. We had a nice memorial reception for the whole family here, it was a buffet style in one of the halls. Service was good and food was decent. It was a good venue and i am certain my aunt would have liked it here.

Miranda L.

Yelp
We used this hotel for our wedding room block in December. Overall the experience was good, the prices were reasonable, and the rooms were large. We were able to rent both presidential suites for myself and my husband to get ready in with the wedding party at a fair price. The only issue we had leading up to the event was poor communication with the sales office. They did help to resolve our issues and offered to waive the "goody bag" fee for each guest (it's $5 each to hand a premade bag to guests containing snacks and water when they check in...). Overall I would recommend for your wedding if it's nearby, but I would be warned about the communication issues.

Adham E.

Yelp
Warm greeting. We got our keys and went up. 1. The hallways smell TERRIBLE. Like something died in there. On every floor. 2. Every single carpet I saw was stained, specially the one in our room. Bed sheets and pillow cases too. THEN As Im about to get into my bed, I find a bunch of ants just roaming around. Over and under the sheets. So I go back down to the lobby and the lady tells me there's nothing she could do because it's "not her hotel". She then gave me another room. That had stained carpet, pillow cases, and sheets, but at least no ants.

Nan D.

Yelp
Another wonderful stay at Hilton Orrington. I've been coming here for over a year, as my son attends NU. It's the most convenient location. It's also walking distance to many restaurants and coffee shops. Hotel and staff: The lobby and the rooms are always very clean, comfortable beds, and the coffee in the lobby is much appreciated. But I choose this hotel for every visit, because of their fantastic staff. Stephen always goes above and beyond to ensure we have a pleasant stay. He is professional, resourceful and thoughtful. He has answers to all our questions, solves any issues we might encounter, and takes great care of us. I've never felt so welcomed anywhere else. Andy's joy is contagious. He always puts a smile on my face, regardless of the day I'm having. He also looks out for us and ensures our stay is perfect. Always attentive, respectful and charismatic. At my last few visits, I've also had the pleasure of meeting Ryan; another friendly and helpful person at the front desk. I look forward to returning as I get to see those who treat me here as family. Parking: I don't usually use the valet service. Instead, I walk a few blocks to the public parking garage, because I feel Hilton diamond members should have free or reduced parking as a perk, rather than just two bottles of water. But I have used this service on several occasions and I have to say that Ola is the kindest soul I've ever met. Hilton Orrington is blessed to have such special staff and I hope staff feels appreciated and valued. Suggestion: Would love to see the bar open again and breakfast available in the near future. PS: Staff looks really sharp in their new uniform!

Patricia P.

Yelp
Outstanding service..everyone working at the hotel has been very accommodating. Steve, who is the head of Valet service is absolutely outstanding. He made sure we got a ride to Evanston Hospital when we need it & has arranged for a ride to the airport when we will be going back to Las Vegas I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. It's a very old hotel, but very charming.

Amanda C.

Yelp
To sum it up... AC was broken in our first room at 84° smelling of mildew, the front desk wouldn't let us swap rooms until maintenance was available to look at it and confirm it was broken... after he inspected it was blowing out hot air he asked when my husband and I would be able to let him use noisy tools on the unit. Exhausted from our late flight, I didn't want to listen to the sounds of drills and left to speak with the front desk again about switching rooms. I went to the elevator to get downstairs and I could hear a woman trapped inside yelling for help....had to take the emergency stairs all the way down out and around the building...the poor girl was ok but crying and shaken up from being trapped for a while. Finally front desk swapped our room and our new one was complete with actual cobwebs and a hole in the carpet. I would give a 0 for maintenance on this one if I could....

Yelp
Needs upgrading badly! and a rude staff member caused this rating! We were in town for Northwestern Homecoming and Reunion! When we asked at the front desk about local restaurants we were told they had no more printed lists and her computer wasn't working! Seriously no help at all and we felt like we had asked a tabu question! When Brittney walked away in the middle of us talking i actually thought she was going into the office to get us a list but instead she was answering her cell phone and walked away to talk! Very rude! When we complained to the manager the next morning we had expected at least a phone message apology if not a personal one but none ever came! The only reason I even gave a 3 star was because the other staff members were great! Also, The bathroom is by far the worst hotel bathroom i have ever had! With just a sink, toilet and bath shower, there was only one tiny shelf with no where to put shaving stuff, makeup case, hair dryer, etc! hair dryer had to go on the floor, makeup and curling iron had to go top of the toilet lid where as the shelf was only big enough for two toothbrushes and toothpaste! My hanging toiletries bag had to hang on the back of the door as there were no hooks anywhere! Very inconvenient which is why we will never stay here again!

fifi h.

Yelp
Went for HS Reunion we got a special rates. Carpets were gross. House keeping never came I dropped towels outside my room and took my own off cart. Switched room 3x. Was promised by manager discount because of all the changes and no housekeeping and saw it deducted on my cc. A day later he added it back on. I contacted corporate then I did eventually get a large discount. I appreciated it, but I would have preferred coming back to a clean room. On a positive note the valet staff and front desk staff could have not been nicer. Manager not so much.

Anne K.

Yelp
I once spent the night in a hammock in a Central American jungle during a civil war and that was more pleasant them my stay at the Hilton Orrington in Evanston. During a 5 day stay we had to move three times because the rooms were so awful. Problems included: the air conditioning that didn't work, bugs in the room (wasps and spiders), blood stains on the sheets, stains on the carpet, closet door hinge ripped off, an arm chair that was beyond filthy. The staff (with the exception of Brittany and Andy) were surly, apathetic, unhelpful, disinterested and at times overtly hostile.

R L.

Yelp
Very please with my stay in Evanston 2 nd time being there and once again the stay was great many places around hotel to eat and enjoy everything is in walking distance and it's great I loved it will definitely stay again and check out Farmhouse right next to hotel it was packed and full of guests!!!

Carlos A.

Yelp
Clean hotel on the older side. Heater in room was very loud although Service was great and staff was very welcoming.

Margaret S.

Yelp
We picked this hotel because it's the closest to Northwestern University when we were in town to tour the campus. The room was clean and the beds and bedding were very comfortable. The staff was helpful and friendly. There is not a restaurant on the property but there are snacks in the lobby and we enjoyed chocolate ice cream back in our room while watching tv before bed. It looked like they had some items for breakfast as well. The location is ideal and walking distance to a lot of shops and restaurants, and most importantly the Northwestern campus. The area also felt safe and we were walking in the day and at night.

Carlton J.

Yelp
I had a few issues but management did address it. Just wasn't Hilton Like in my eyes. Especially compared to other Hilton Brands

Lisa G.

Yelp
Friendly staff and great location near lots of restaurants and retail shops. No breakfast provided (although it may say so on website). Great historic building with comfortable rooms.

Ness S.

Yelp
This hotel has a well appointed lobby with a small tea/coffee dispenser. Nice seating area as well. My room was very comfortable. It had plenty of space with a large king sized bed and a nice area to do work. They also have a restaurant connected with the hotel which served a pretty good breakfast. The only hiccup was that the air conditioner which worked fine the first night but didn't seem to blow any cold air on the second night. According to the technician, ice had formed in the unit which prevented the air from coming through. This was a bit annoying because I only noticed it when I returned to the hotel at night and now had to wait for the unit to be swapped out before I could turn in for the night (they didn't have an available room to move me to). However, the technician worked very quickly and got it all taken care of in less than an 1 hour. So not a big deal. The service was excellent throughout. For example, I forgot my jacket at the hotel and when I called them from the airport they shipped it to me Fedex so I got it the very next day. This was much appreciated. Also, the hotel is located in an area surrounded by restaurants and activities So it's pleasant to walk around in the evenings. Very nice I highly recommend it.

Yelp
Horrible experience! Hotel is old (not quaint). Small dirty rooms which smell like mildew. Service is terrible from front desk to valet. Forget help with your bags. And plan lots of time to find the missing valet. No late checkouts even for gold members. Find anywhere else to stay. This place is terrible!

Yelp
Regrettable Customer Service I must comment on the terribly off-putting attitude of this hotel's late-night, Front Desk Manager, which was anything but serviceable. I mistakenly booked a room for three nights for a business colleague, that I wished to pay for in advance so that my guest could check-in smoothly. Unfortunately, I chose the "pay at the property" option when booking, not realizing what difficulty that would cause me. The 3rd party hotel booking website wouldn't allow me to pay for the room via credit card over the phone. Nor would the hotel when I called them directly to explain the situation. So, I decided to go to the location and take care of the charges the evening prior to my guest's arrival. After I explained what I wanted to do at the hotel's front desk, I was met with a most callous refusal to accept my credit card and was told that I would have to return upon the guest's arrival the next day to pay for the room. I explained that this was an extreme inconvenience, especially because I was there NOW (at the time) to do that very thing. I was told that I could have filled out a credit card authorization form seven days prior to arrival-an irrelevant, most unhelpful bit of information, given the circumstances. In addition to being unhelpful, the person (Evening Front Desk Manager) was extremely rude and patronizing, obviously taking some kind of twisted pleasure in denying me assistance. But perhaps I'm giving them too much credit. Maybe they weren't sophisticated at all, or just inept at problem solving. It seems to me that a viable 'customer service' workaround would have been to suggest taking my credit card information, adding it to the reservation folio, and running my card upon the guest's arrival. Hopefully someone effectual, who cares will read this, take note of the date (the evening of August 9, 2023) and will add this incident to what I venture to guess is a growing history of behavior of this nature by this employee. Meanwhile, I will NOT be doing any more business with this hotel, because I just remembered that the last time the very same guest stayed there (about six months ago), he was accosted by hotel security, who asked that he present his room key upon entering the hotel. Take a guess what race the guest is? And no, he's middle-aged and was definitely not wearing a hoodie.

Yelp
The late night front desk staff were friendly & kind. The room is outdated, carpet stained, the phone doesn't work, none of the lights were plugged in the outlets, the clock was set 2 hours ahead yet you can't change it AND THE CONSTRUCTION OUTSIDE OUR ROOM at 7am was HORRIBLE!!! I called the front desk, on my cell phone, bc the phone doesn't work, and she could not have cared at all. She was so rude!!!!

Yelp
We stayed this weekend while visiting family in the city. The hotel was tolerable for one night, but NOT up to Hilton standards. The common areas and room need a major rehab. The bed was cheap and uncomfortable. The walls and carpet were dusty and dirty and the furnishings were dated and worn. The walls were paper thin. We could hear the conversation next door like we were in the same room. We were trying to avoid downtown traffic and parking issues but stay somewhere nicer than an airport hotel. This hotel looked like it has had more traffic than o'hare and certainly was not worth $225 a night.

Yelp
This property is not up to par with the Hilton brand. It was dusty. They did not have the extras in the room that most do. They did not serve breakfast and the coffee was late. It was understaffed. The cot was below par..thin mattress with the blankets disheveled on the cot which made you wonder if the sheets had been laundered. The manager was rude about breakfast. You must valet your car which is $30. Overall I would give it two stars. The only plus is the location.

Yelp
I was promised 10,000 points from "Lying Ruben" at front desk for the inconvenience for having to change rooms due to the poor condition of my room. They were NEVER given. They also overcharged my Company 1night. I stayed here a few times and spoke to the GM. I showed him PROOF of my Uber records showing me leaving on the 18th not 19th I was in another Hotel on that date. That was not enough proof for the idiot, however. So the travel Dept is disputing the charge. The GM is incredibly incompetent. As you walk around the hotel you will see Double Tree signs, peeling paint on ceilings in rooms cobwebs and dust everywhere. The Exterior and common areas most common are really nice. "Hotel restaurant is open for breakfast only" should not be a 4 star property!

Yelp
Stayed 3 nights at this hotel as a Hilton Honors Gold guest with $30 Food and Beverage credit per night. Encountered outrageous issues enumerated below: 1) Checked in just after mid-night when valet has already closed. I eChecked from Hilton app and received digital key ahead of time but stopped by the front desk to make sure she has my car key for the Valet in the morning. She made a few keys which I sent my husband with so that he can get into the room to unpack as I stayed behind to fill out the paperwork for the car. He opened the room door to guests already asleep and both parties were shocked. The guests staying in my room called down to the front desk, and the only employee at the time started explaining why this may have happened. In that process, my FULL name was shared with people who are sleeping in the room I was assigned to and I learned the name of the other guest and that of her husband. The receptionist was completely frazzled, so I decided to report this to front desk the next morning. I was offered free Valet Parking during my stay. 2) There was NO restaurant onsite and no way for me to spend my Food and Beverage credit except at the self-service snack bar at the corner. I looked at the selection and inquired what my options are if I didn't want anything from the bar. I was told that I can purchase Hilton points with the F&B credit at check out, which I attempted to do. The receptionist told me that their record showed I purchased a bunch of snacks upon check in...I never even walked towards that area as I was dealing with the wrong room fiasco. I was promised to be made whole before they apply the $90 credit towards Hilton points. 3) I received four emailed receipts after check out with a balance that finally showed 0, I waited a few days before I called Hilton Customer Service to check as I still haven't seen the point purchase. I was on hold with the first agent for 20 min as she supposedly called the hotel to check. She then told me she's transferring me to another agent to open a case. This was not a warm-hand-off, so I had to tell the story all over again, as the agent appeared to be soothing a crying baby at the same time. I was then again put on hold, for another 20 min, only to be transferred to the hotel reception to tell me that they now show I made snack purchase on the first night of my check in AND AGAIN upon check out, so there's no credit that they can apply towards point purchase. NOW..I don't know how to prove that I wouldn't touch the crap they have in that sad little corner they call snack bar, I'd like to know how HILTON can prove that I made those purchase. At this juncture, I'm putting this behind me. Stay away from this hotel...actually, given my experience with Hilton Customer Service, I'd say stay away from Hilton altogether.

Yelp
Okay but seen silver fish in bathroom. Old rugs. Was home to homeless during Covid. Lady at front questioned who and what room were in coming down elevator. Followed to room. Next day guy with glasses tried walking in room with do not disturb sign on. Weird people. I would not trust it here. Elevators got people trapped. Not up to date with elevator inspection. It expired. Like almost all the hotels.

Yelp
This is not a 4 star hotel as advertised on Google. There's a gym but no pool. Free Wi-Fi only if room is booked directly with hotel- otherwise pay $8 for Wi-Fi. No breakfast or coffee (unless you use the keurig in the room), TV with basic cable channels but no comcast option. Alarm clock has ability to hook to iPod with the old kind of plug. Rooms outdated and sad- missing things like the drawers out of the desk, no artwork, full length mirror, etc. Spills on the wall, tiny bathroom. At least staff were friendly and the location is decent to downtown Evanston, but otherwise wouldn't stay here again. If you can choose a room ending in "25", ie 625, 825... they will be slightly bigger than the rest of the standard rooms.

Yelp
If you're looking for a bare bones hotel then this is the place for you. The housekeepers were nice and attentive. The front desk provided excellent customer service. The rooms provided the minimum essentials. The television would scramble every time a train went by or the wind would blow. The beds were firm yet comfortable. I have no idea why you would be traveling to Evanston, but if you stay here keep your expectations to a minimum.

Yelp
Upon arrival, looks like a very nice hotel. Even upon entering room it's "okay". Seemed clean but have you ever just felt icky somewhere... even though it seems clean it feels dirty and dusty. Air conditioner stopped working overnight so we woke up feeling exhausted and sweaty. I won't ever stay here again unless our of complete necessity. Was not anywhere near worth what we paid for. Maybe location... I'm guessing that's why this room is so expensive.

Yelp
The 2 stars are for the decor and the excellent customer service from the front desk guy and a couple of other guys working the valet. The lack of stars are for the thin walls, you can practically hear what your next door neighboor is watching on the tv, their phone conversations and every other little noise in the hall way, let's just say I did'nt have the best night sleep at all, I tossed and turned all night and wasn't in a deep sleep at all. While I was half asleep I could hear everything going on in the hallway. The other reason was the poor customer serivice from the girl at the front desk, she had a poor attitude, they are doing construction on the sidewalk in front of Chipotle and I wanted to know if they were still open, yes they are but I could not see a way to get in and asked the lady if there was another way and she said there was but you have to walk to find out, she was very unpleasant and I must say if you are not a people person dont work a customer service job, I do customer service and even though somedays I don't feel like being a happy person I am always pleasant and I leave it at the door. Ok place but could be way better. The A/C unit is super loud and annoying and the bathroom is really tiny, only enoguh room for one person at a time and seriously lacked counter space. Oh and the wi-fi is free.

Yelp
Probably the worst night sleep I've had in a hotel. Specifically asked for a quiet room - got room 800, which smelled so bad, got reassigned to room 500. Realized after I was settled in and turned off tv that I was above a huge hvac system that was continually running. Tried to sleep through it, but was unsuccessful. Then at 6am I discovered 20 dumpsters and the trash truck dealing with them was just below my window too. You folks are in the sleep business and you did a poor job at providing that.

Yelp
NO PARKING. Hotels.com may say "parking available," but that parking is available in a public lot two blocks away that charges $18 a night! Not quite as advertised. Thankfully I am here in September. I cannot imagine what they tell unsuspecting guests in the dead of winter! The hotel is older but the rooms are well kept, even with the tiny bathrooms and zero modern amenities. The restaurants connected are all closed and the lobby looks like a ghost town. Last time I trust a Hotels.com rating.

Yelp
I wasn't impressed with the rooms here. They didn't seem as they were presented online. Also, the woman who checked me in seemed to not like me. Which was strange since we didn't speak. There was one woman at the desk in the morning who was wonderful. Super friendly and helpful. Valet was also excellent.

Yelp
Not impressed. Outside of location I'm not sure what's redeemable about this hotel. I'm shocked it's a Hilton. After switching rooms because my first room had one tiny window at the top of one wall, like I was in a basement, my next room just slightly better. You'd think I was in NYC given the size. Oh, and if you want breakfast here, it's at a bargain of $28. Again, you'd think we're in NYC, not a suburb of Chicago. My company has an office nearby, and I will be staying elsewhere next time I'm in town.
