If you are traveling to Managua you don’t have many choices for great hotel stays. We chose the Hilton because we have status with them. As we pulled up I could tell very quickly this stay would be different. Walking into the hotel you immediately notice how dated the entry is. There was no one to help with luggage and even though the people at the front desk are very nice they spoke limited English for a Hilton property where most people that are staying are foreigners. The room itself was clean and the cleaning team were great each day. However, the room is very dated. One of our biggest problems was with the shower. It sprayed in all directions and at one point completely stopped during my shower. I was frantic because I had just put shampoo in my hair. Thankfully it came back on. We tried to find relief by the pool on hot days, however, none of the loungers had shade which was very disappointing. The towels need to be picked up at the front desk because there is no one servicing the pool area. The gym has limited equipment. Overall the pool area is small and chairs are uncomfortable. The best part of the stay was breakfast where Mercedes and Maurice took great care of us. And, in the evening, Louis, in the bar area, was the super star of our stay. He made sure I got the proper food because I have dietary restrictions. Hilton should be thankful they have employees like these because they salvage an otherwise horrible stay.
