The staff at the resort (servers, valet, bellman) are very friendly and helpful. Huge shout-out to EMELY in Concierge Services: our original room was definitely not up to par and she quickly went to work finding us a new room (which is perfect and so much better)! She communicated throughout the process which we appreciate. She was amazing. The grounds have everything - pools, a lagoon, the beach, kayaks and paddle boats! It has a relaxed vibe!

Bought the day pass and had a fantastic day! The grounds are gorgeous and well maintained. The staff at the pool desk were polite and very helpful. They happily replace any soiled or wet pool towels. They have a fun bar with cocktails and mocktails. The kids loved the fun and delicious drinks. Very large pool with 2 hot tubs, a tube slide, volleyball set up, a children's zero entrance pool, covered cabanas available with reservation and covered lounge chairs. There is also a small pool gift shop where you can buy pool toys. A great little snack shack with ice cream, pizza, salads, sandwiches, drinks and snacks. Tables and chairs just outside the shack. Several clean bathrooms throughout the area. Also, very close by is a Dolphin enclosure. Be sure to check it out! Definitely recommend ❤️😁❤️

This was my resort of choice for years of traveling to the Big Island. The resort grounds and pools are still amazing. However, the service at this hotel has dropped significantly in the last 2 years or so. The prices remain consistent but the level of service unfortunately has not. If you want housekeeping, you now have to ask for it. What??? At a high end resort? Why??? Valet calls go unanswered, so rather than have your car ready, u now have to walk a long distance just to then sit and wait for your car to be brought up, because they dont awnser their phones in advance. Wasted time you could be enjoying on the island. The front desk staff at night is truly MEH, about you being a guest there. Complete indifference. Waht a shame. It was never like this. The pool bar closes at 5pm. So if youre looking for that relaxing cold beer while enjoying the sunset from the pool....forget it! At 5pm, not 5:01pm, they are outta there! The TV in our room was out of order for 3 of the 4 days we were there. Yes, u read that correctly. And to top it off, the teams that take u to your towers, crashed while we were there. The Nu Restaurant, over priced, indifferent service and the food? Not impressive. Overall, I truly hope they will go back to the level of service we have enjoyed since our first stay back in 1996. Otherwise, it'll be the Westin Hapuna Beach for us, moving forward!! Fingers 🤞

I am currently staying at this hotel and traveling with someone with mobility constraints. My biggest issue has been with costumer service. We initially considered canceling this vacation however, we were informed that there is a tram that runs from one end of the resort to the other at three minute intervals 24/7. We were also told that there are boats that ferry passengers at more limited intervals. Upon arrival, both the boat and tram are unavailable. Apparently, this is a new development; however, it was not communicated. We were placed in the ocean which furthest from any of the restaurants or pools. It ends up being about a mile walk from one side to the other. My companion has exercise restrictions, documented in a physician’s note, and this is an explicit violation of her documented required accommodations. There are supposed to be shuttles, but they are always full and take well over 20+ minutes to get a second shuttle. We approached the managers at each of the other towers to try and be moved closer to where there are restaurants/activities due to the mobility constraints. Although we were told that the resort is currently at 33% capacity, they still would not move us even for an up charge . For a luxury resort, this is anything but luxurious. We are flying home early rather than staying. Again, beautiful beaches and pools, but simply not what I would expect for a “resort”experience.

Beautiful resort! Love the lagoon. The rooms are nice, if a bit dated, but always Hilton standard clean. Service has been excellent! No microwave in room but it does have small fridge. Be ready to walk...a lot. However, the tram and shuttle is nice, but if you're past 10pm, you will walk the whole way. It is a 20 min drive north from the airport and nearly $50/day self park. Rental car was great option for us, but plan accordingly. Check out Huggo's in Kona. Lovely spot for dinner!

We stayed here for 5 nights here during Christmas time . The best thing is its location and ,picturesque grounds with pool , lagoon , dolphin encounter and golf course & couple of restaurants and coffee shops . ( all the outside landscape is maintained pretty good ) We stayed at palace towers ,which is 10 mts walk from main lobby . The customer service is awe fully WORST . Though it is beach resort the room service is on demand , we have to text/ call and let them know 24 hrs ahead for room service. We did the same and still no one turned up for cleaning the room, and if we call Emily would answer after 10-15 mts and apologize for not doing the service . She said she would take off a day of Valet parking for not doing inspite of the 24 hour notice . ( which she did not do , as we paid all the 5 days of our stay .) After a long tiring day from HVNP we came to room at 10.30 pm , no body wash ( as no one comes for room service until 5 th day of stay ) and we have to call multiple times for housekeeping service and wait for more than an hour as no one turns up & finally have to call lobby manager .(carter is the manager and he is not sure why house keeping is not responding and sends the bodywash around midnight ) It was my husband’s bday and we had to go through all this on his bday . The room was so filthy with hair and Sand right from the time we checked in , even after cleaning on the 5 day they stay the same , ( as they concentrate only on making the bed and replace new towels but not on cleaning the bathrooms and vacuuming carpet ) Very surprised how this was with Amex Fine Hotels and Resorts as we always go with Amex FHR and always has good experience with the only exception of this hotel .

The first time I stayed here it was nice. This time I was in the newly renovated palace towers. The parking and restaurants and food were all so far away. It took about 10-15 minutes of walking to get there which was fine if you weren’t dragging suitcases. There was a tram but it was at best the same as walking. One time it took 30 minutes to get to the stops. I really think the hotel should put some pools/hot tubs and more food options by the palace tower to make it more worthwhile. There’s literally nothing to do in that tower. You have to walk to the Makai or Ocean towers to have any amenities. I will not be staying there again.

Stellar experience! Room is clean and roomy and super cute. The grounds are timeless, like living in an outdoor, tropical museum. Two giant pools with water slides and the lagoon is perfect. Everyone is super helpful and kind. The hotel is completely booked but doesn’t feel too crowded at all. Saw some Reddit threads and reviews mentioning construction, we don’t we any. we had our wedding, this place is roughly 30 years old; they are keeping up on it.

It's a good location. Just like all of Hawaii, the food is overpriced. And the amount of times someone pitches a timeshare is nutty. But overall, it was an enjoyable experience. That said, make sure you rent a car. You'll want to explore other parts of the island.

Collected by the original developer, Chistopher Hemmeter in 1988 for the resort's opening. Said to have been the most expensive hotel built at that time. To compliment all that's mentioned above, here are the magic makers. The ones who make it happen, front-'n-center and behind the scenes. Working tirelessly every shift to deliver an experience. A guest experience. To name a few from my stay in November. Like Nathan at the Concierge who graciously assisted with my Hilton Honors check-in on 11/15/24. While visiting Kohala Spa, I had the most delightful conversation with Analeia. Sheldon was most considerate, assisting while operating the PM tram the night of the 15th. And there's Esther from Nui Italian. Whom I've known for years as a return guest. We shared stories of our families and laughter during my dinner experience on Friday night. And, there's the group of compassionate individuals who assisted me when I was in the most sensitive state. Some I wasn't able to get a name, but immensely grateful for your care and warm service extended. Join with me while I take you on my 2 day-1 night overnight staycation in November 2024. On the Big Island of Hawai'i. At the most glorious resort boasting over 1,200 hotel + vacation club rooms. On sixty-two visually stunning acres. This is the Hilton Waikōloa Village. Written with an open mind, understanding that even though challenges arise, it's how both the operation and self finds a positive way to move forward. Viewing the most unfortunate from a perspective that resulted in optimism vs. disappointment. On the morning of November 16, I reached out to the Front Desk. To inform the hotel staff that I was experiencing the most discomforting symptoms with concerning signs. They sent Keola from security to my hotel room around 2:00am. We spoke about options + assistance if I decided to move forward with a call for an ambulance. I was given information about the closest hospital. I wanted the hotel to know how I was feeling, being proactive if symptoms became extremely worrisome. So help would be given immediately when needed. Keola was kind, comforting and helpful at such an early hour. My symptoms did not subside, it unfortunately continued into the morning. But it did not worsen. Walter from the Front Desk was nice enough to coordinate assistance with Security to provide check-out assistance. Thank you, greatly appreciated. This will be an experience to remember. Knowing I will never check-out in this manner again. Hopefully not, though. It was offered in the most special way to expedite my departure from the resort. Because my physical condition was impaired. I was weak. So I could be driven back to the East side of the island closer to the Hilo Medical Center. Which I checked into safely. Security sent Jeremy to assist with my check-out. He promptly arrived with a bell cart, assisting with my luggage. I was escorted into the service elevator where I boarded a cart and was driven through the lower employee corridor. An air-conditioned "under resort" tunnel. Jeremy took me directly to the car at guest parking. He even packed the luggage into the trunk and to assure there were no delays, waited at the parking exit to assist. He was compassionate, showed genuine empathy and extended assistance beyond my expectations. To my surprise, two days later I received a phone call from one of the resort's managers. To check on my condition. Thoughtful and extremely refreshing. An approach well noted and well received. Those that were involved with this incident responded in the most concerning way. Exceptional. Even though my stay was cut short, the service extended by multiple departments succeeded disappointment. In my eyes, I was able to focus on being grateful. Holding onto hope and keeping myself positive, allowing me to remain optimistic. Compassion without judgement. Feeling understood and valued. You acknowledged my concerns and emotions. Reducing distress in the most concerning way. For that, I am forever grateful. Come visit the extraordinary team at the Hilton Waikōloa Village.

Hilton Waikaloa, where do I start? This had to have been the most remarkable stay of anywhere I've ever stayed in the world and not in a good way. From the suicidal men on the slow tram to the nonexistent room service to the cleaning crew that will consistently leave their vacuum, cleaners, and cleaning supplies in our room, I almost can't believe we spent over $1000 a night to stay here because of the Christmas week. I would frequently come back to my room and shed tears because I did not want to be here and I could not find any other place on the island to stay. I didn't think it was possible to stay at a worse place, but it has been just that. This is a Motel 6 at Ritz Carlton prices. I soon figured out the reason the guy was suicidal on the tram. It was faster to walk than to take the tram. I don't even know why they have it. They act like this place is Epcot center but it's not even close. We had a $350 room credit for the stay which was unusable because there is no room service, so you are left getting stuff from their restaurants which leaves a lot to be desired. We only ended up getting sodas and snacks from Nui Italian, which I must add had a cannoli that looked and tasted like cat excrement. How do you screw up a cannoli?? We decided not to try the chicken parm as much as other reviews rave about it. At least I got a lot of exercise because my tower was a half mile each way from the main entrance. On a couple of occasions, my room key did not work and I had to head back to the front desk, where I was made to feel like a moron, that I had done something wrong with my keys to make them not work. Thanks for the exercise, guys. Why didn't I call, you ask? I tried, but got routed to the national Hilton line and its associated phone tree hell. It is 2025 and the TVs in this place do not have any streaming options. There is a DVD player in the rooms with DVD rentals downstairs a la 2005. I look across the golf course from my room at the other places and see nothing but happiness. Here there is nothing but dread and sorrow. The birds outside of our room would wake us up every morning and also be sitting on the ledge every night around 9 PM when we return singing their song of glee all the while shitting everywhere because the complex is too lazy or cheap to put up the bird spikes. I sincerely believe that I acquired bird flu on this trip. See my photos and video of said birds. The best way to summarize this place is that it is three towers each of which is comprised of the worst Motel 6 you could ever imagine. I really do not know why people love this place but then looking at everyone in these towers, I think I know why. We were greeted every day at night at the entrance to our tower with people playing cards, drinking, and playing games eating shitty Chinese takeout. They just do not know any better. The billing was also all screwed up. They billed us double for daily valet parking, thinking we would not catch it. Nice try, Hilton Waikaloa. I think if I was offered to stay here for free, the first thing I would do would be to rack the slide on my handgun and aim it at my head, but then I think I would come to my senses and decide that I love my family and it wouldn't be worth it for this place. I would never stay here again, even if it was complementary. Even if I was comped $10,000 a day at the resort. Even if I would be flown in by chopper from the Kona airport to here and back or anywhere on the island. Even if, fill in the blank.

The room size and the view from makai tower was really good but certain things definitely need improvement. Area near TV and even remote was dirty to the extent that I didn't feel like touching it, something I don't expect from a Hilton property. Also they dont have smart TV, though one can rent 2 free dvds for movie per day, but no way to access any OTT content. Generally in all resorts we have been to there's some complimentary drinks/ chocolates etc.. not even a leis welcome in hawaii was unexpected. It all felt very mechanical and business oriented in this property. The water refill machines in makai tower were also really dirty, they definitely need cleaning. Pool area had no umbrellas/shade to chill, except for paid cabanas .. when it's too hot n sunny in noon in places like hawaii an umbrella should have been there, this was the reason we couldn't use pool at all. Our bathroom had footprints, probably from someone who cleaned it before we checked in, that also gave us a bad taste in mouth. Overall I felt the resort was a bit dated and could use some maintenance and update. The entry area from parking lot to makai tower was really unwelcoming and sad, didn't give a nice feel when we came back, it definitely needs improvement. There was no direct elevator from rooms on 5th floor to the ground floor, which was a bummer. The staff in main lobby was always good and helpful.

Not my favorite hotel, from the time you park your car to the time you get to your room it's 40 minutes. You can walk a mile or take the monorail but still it's 40 minutes.

Hubby and I spent the night at Hilton Waiakoloa Village Resort. It is beautifully sitting on 62 Hawaiian Oceanfront acres. Our room faced the ocean where we overlooked 3 swimming pools. We fell asleep to the sounds of the sea. Our room had a flat screen tv, Mini-Fridge, Coffee Maker and a super hot glass shower. This property is HUGE in footprint. A tram will pick you up at the main lobby entrance and take you to your towers. There are beautiful museums along the walkway lines with Art and Culture from all over the Pacific. We will definitely visit again so we can take advantage of all the Hilton Waikoloa has to offer. A saltwater lagoon along with dolphin encounter, tennis, golfing, luau dinner show and the full service spa. Keep in mind, many businesses close early due to staffing shortages but there's still plenty of places to dine. Maybe I'll bump into you soon.

View was good Looking off to side of balcony. Price, as others have said is DEFINITELY not worth it. Recommend to stay elsewhere unless you have kids that are just gonna use pool or lagood (it looks entertaining for them) Old rooms . Can't adjust temperature up or down. Tram(which takes you around site) is unreliable. Parking is just 1 huge lot - so another trek to get car and pay $48 per day. Valet is $55 per day. They asked REPEATEDLY if I was interested in time share which I had specifically said before and at checkin -No thanks! Only breakfast is the buffet for $55 per person. No room service other than after 5pm and then limited to 1 restaurant. I get it - island pricing but sometimes seems like gouging and I'm from an expensive state!

- food is wildly expensive while also being super mediocre (e.g., $58 for chicken??) - the complex is enormous but amenities are concentrated in one specific area so unless you're staying in the far left tower there's nowhere to get food or a drink - everything closes crazy early (the one bar in the far right tower closed at 2:30pm??) - there's no actual beach - there's a small dolphin prison which i found upsetting - all amenities require a substantial upcharge (e.g., to rent a paddle board is $45 per hour) - parking is $48 per night despite there being ample space because it's not in a metro area - i'd argue it's more of a motel complex than a hotel and if you were to bring your own food and drinks then i'd consider it a tad , but at that point it makes more sense to just rent a car and an airbnb

The Hilton Waikoloa Village is one of the nicest resorts that I've ever stayed at while vacationing. This is a very large beautiful property right on the beach with lush gardens throughout the grounds. The beach here is very rocky, but I did notice people swimming through the lagoon and out into the ocean area. I feel this isn't an inconvenience since there are so many excellent sandy beaches after a quick drive either just north or south. I was here to tour the island anyway. I especially enjoyed our room in the Makai Tower. We had a wonderful view of the ocean and we could see the dolphins swimming and feeding in the lagoon below. Our room was the perfect size with a king size bed, chair and table. The bathroom area had two sinks just outside of the separate shower/toilet area. A Keurig coffee machine was available and refreshed regularly. The room was clean and the service was excellent. One could easily be happy just staying at the resort for a week without even leaving the property. There is a huge pool with a waterslide as well as other smaller pools and waterslides near the other towers. The rather large property even has a tram and boat to transport guests from one tower to another. Simply amazing. One of the things I enjoyed most about the hotel was snorkeling in the hotel lagoon area. The water was clean and clear and there is an amazing waterfall at the end of the lagoon. This is definitely a fun area for families to bring their children to swim and see fish. I often saw sea turtles swimming around near the waterfall area. The staff at the hotel were very nice and friendly. The check-in process was fast and the front desk was very helpful and professional. She gave us an overview of the grounds and even gave us a surprise free drink for our anniversary! We felt very welcomed upon arriving. Staying at this hotel is not for someone on a tight budget. Parking fees for the week alone will be close to $340 as of the time of this review. In addition, you may experience added resort fees, depending on who books your stay. Dining can be fairly expensive for breakfast, the cafe or at the Kamuela Provision Company restaurant. To be fair, KPC was one of the nicest dining experiences I've ever had at a hotel restaurant. Also, dining prices in general are skyrocketing everywhere. I feel the Hilton Waikoloa Village is a wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion for a memorable stay. I am glad I experienced the resort and would enjoy staying here with more of my family on my next trip to Hawaii.

We took a chance on this resort considering all the negative reviews, but we had an enjoyable stay. We booked a room in the Makai tower which is centrally located. As others have noted, it is a massive resort that uses a tram and boat system to get you around. We never used them, and enjoyed walking all around the property. There are a number of pros and cons. Overall the grounds are beautiful, but if you are looking for miles of sandy beach, this is not the place. Instead they have created a beach along a lagoon, which is filled with turtles, rays and other sea life and is incredible to snorkel in. They also have Dolphin Quest here, and I have mixed feelings about that. While it was great to see dolphins from our window, it just feels wrong to me. The room itself is clean and comfortable. Oddly housekeeping is offered only if you call the day before each day of your stay. This pandemic behavior should be eliminated. The resort attracts many families with children, but that was mostly at the pool. A short 10 minute walk away can bring you to areas of the resort with quiet chairs far apart from anybody else to enjoy stunning views. Resorts are expensive, but Hilton has gotten out of control. Expect high nightly rates, resort fees, high parking fees and don't even think about buying any food on the property. Breakfast buffet is $55pp plus tax and tip, ala carte options are so high priced it is unaffordable to order a plate, coffee and juice, The prices are insulting. There are two shopping areas on property and about a mile walk from the lobby. You will find more reasonably priced food and stores there. Hilton runs a shuttle, but charges $5 per person each way. There are also great dining options at the other resorts a few miles away, but you would need to drive or take an uber. I can't recommend any of the food options on the property due to the outlandish prices. While this worked out for us, I think you need to research carefully to be sure it will work for you

SCAM. TURN AWAY WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!! 7 problems, one family. We haven't even spent more than 24 hours in this resort and I can already feel my work migraine returning. When we first checked in, we had to wait 5 hours for our room to be ready. The room in question? A dingy closet. We were told we were to revive a suite, but when the suite was revealed to be a dirty old closet my own grandmother would call detestable, we were 100% prepared to have our old room back. After around 10 minutes of inspecting the room, we were already headed to the front desk. But when we got there, they refused to give us our original room back! We were just scammed out of so much money! Not only do we have to stay in this disgusting room, but they ALSO never gave us roll beds. We are a family of five, there is no way all five of us can fit in this damn bed. RUN AWAY WHILE YOU STILL CAN!

Update: Came back to my room later after pool to find the biggest cockroach yet. Then I took the boat to the pool and the boat broke down. Then I looked at boat dock, OMG it was broken and dangerous. I posted pics. I'm staying here on a marketing package and very disappointed about the treatment that I've received thus far by the Hilton Waikoloa Village. I am an owner at Vistana with three timeshares and have never experienced cockroaches in my room and outdated rooms like this. Even though I called in the morning and I told him about the cockroaches and they told me that they would send housekeepers to clean, we arrived this evening at 5:30 only to discover that my room was never cleaned. They offered to put me up in a different room with a worse view and I absolutely refused. I'm very disappointed about the level of disrespect that I have received. I believe Hilton needs to do better.

This review is based on a stay in the Ocean Tower in January 2025. To start, I do not recommend this hotel to anyone with mobility issues. The hotel layout requires a lot of walking; the self parking lot requires an inclined hike to get to the main lobby. Daily self parking was $48, valet was $58 (not including a tip, and you really should tip ). Once in the main lobby there is a tram every 11 minutes to take you to the various areas but it's slow. I heard many frustrated comments from other visitors about it being faster to walk but that walk was so far. In addition to this, the AC in the tram is either super cold or not working and hot. The boats were not operating during our stay. Once at Ocean tower some rooms are easiest to access by taking an elevator to one floor than using the stairs to get to your floor. On to our room(s): After we checked in and unpacked we discovered we did not have hot water. Others reported the issue as well. We sent a message to the front desk who offered to move us to another room in the morning, offering us the opportunity to preview the room before we moved. In the morning we viewed a room but it was right next to the ice machine and did not have a comparable view to the original room. We were given the card key to another room but the occupants were still in it - the "privacy" door hanger was posted so we were told we'd have to wait until rooms became available later in the day. We attempted to go about our day but were on alert for when we'd have to head back, repack our bags and move. We were not offered assistance to move our bags. The room we ended up in (2088) is not as dated as the 1st room but the carpet felt and looked dirty. The couch was very broken and made horrible noises when we sat on it. It had a pull out bed but we didn't use it. The amenities were basic. Single serve coffee maker, tv, PlayStation for dvd playing, usb chargers in lamps, small refrigerator (no freezer). There was also two fast moving black bugs, but they did have an exterminator come in on the 4th day. Housekeeping was fine but missed a day. One good thing is - It did have a nice sunset view from the balcony. All that being said, after we asked, the management agreed to deduct a small portion of the charges for the inconveniences. Overall, it was a place to lay our heads, but I will not stay here again nor would I recommend it to others. Sorry Hilton, you've got to do better.

Lots of high priced food just about everything over $25 for lunch without tax and tip. You get nothing but pool towels and wifi for free! Also parking $55 per day hotel is very nice but you will pay over the top for everything

Beautiful village for R & R! There are plenty of activities for hotel guests to engage in. In addition, it has many well paved walkways for putting in 10,000 steps per day after indulging in high calories foods from restaurants on the complex. Too bad the boat ride they used to have are no longer in operation during our stay; however, the train does a good job for riders to commute from one point to another in the village for those who do not care for walking. With more than a few pools available, kids definitely will have a great time here. The only noticeable drawback is many mosquitoes around the poolside after sunset. Be ready to have mosquitoes repellent readily available if one desire evening swimming or other pool usages.

This hotel is breathtaking! The grounds, rooms, pools, amenities and of course the people are amazing. Now let's talk about the ocean views... stunning This hotel sets the bar high for sure.

I should preface with that I did not stay here but rather came during the day to explore and use their amenities with the day pass. This place is absolutely gorgeous. My family's biggest regret was not booking this place for our stay. If you come to the big island, this is where you should stay. It was like a little island in itself. So many beautiful areas and scenery. Food and drinks are expensive but what do you expect lol

Unfortunately this Hilton resort has not lived up to our expectations and has left us feeling like our experience is at the bottom of the staffs priority list. We came here with the prospect of becoming an owner but after four days of consistent let downs we're choosing to keep our vacation options open Cons - roaches in our room - door left ajar all day by cleaning staff - interaction with staff when we addressed our concerns was poor - tram was broken Pros - The view - most of the staff interactions

11/19/24 this place is so nostalgic from my time living on the big island all the parties and once upon a time kama'aina rates. For the tourists. ITS A TRAP definition of a tourist trap. The trams are run down no windows or ac in some cars. Boats don't run anymore. we had a 10 month old with us they put us in the farthest room from check in desk. As we walked in room ac was on but it was 90 degrees and humid as can be. our room had a big crack across the ceiling and a large wet spot due to water coming through the ceiling also in the hallway there was water damage and two buckets catching drips. They told us we couldn't move rooms because they were fully booked (the restaurant staff later said it has been very slow) .. after waiting a couple hrs speaking to a manager we moved to an identical room in a different area.

This Hilton is a temple to big development. The hotel is beautifully situated offering some stunning western views. In a way it is like a mini Disney with a tram and very disbursed buildings. My building was a 20 minute walk from the main area. The building needs some updating. My bed sagged, the bathroom had ants but was a decent size. There were no decent chairs should you need to do work (and maybe you should not while in Hawaii). There is no direct ocean beach other than lava beaches other than a human made "lagoon" with some sand. They have also brought in captive dolphins. As you would expect from a resort, you pay dearly for food. Certain HHonor members receive a paltry $18 food credit. Breakfast costs $55 before fees and tip. You may think you could at least use credit for a cup of coffee but no the coffee store is excluded. There an upscale mall not far away that offers food.

Totally self contained area with food and fun on the resort or within walking distance...Roy's and a Romano's Macaroni grill as well as High-end shops

My sister and I came to Waikoloa Village as guests on our parent's timeshare with Hilton. We had been visitors here many moons ago, but this was our first time staying as guests of the resort. Pros: -Gorgeous grounds -Lots of pool options for your different wants -Staff has been very accommodating and kind, if we needed anything they were attentive. -rental car company onsite: we were able to reserve a car and drive around the island for the day instead of needing one our whole trip! So convenient! -shuttle to the shops: There's the nearby Kings Market and Queens Market as well as another place called Lava Lava Beach Club which a shuttle can take you to. This was a great way for us to go get groceries and get more food options. It was $5/person, one way. Still, a bargain in the heat and humidity! (Why are they driving us away from eating at the actual resort???) -tram: it's currently the only option other than walking the length of the resort, and it usually has the AC working. It's not very fast, but it is a nice way to be carted to and fro. Cons: -Lack of shade: If you wanted any form of shading, you have to pay for it. -Food options were limited and expensive: We came in off-season I guess? So the majority of the food options were closed by 5pm and the only choices for dinner were Nui (Italian food) and KPC. Our first night we figured we would try Nui since it was closer to us (we were in the ocean tower) and while the food was good, this pricing is beyond just a resort charge. I ended up calling it a colonizer tax, because no matter where you went you were spending easily twice the amount we are used to in Southern California. One pizza, one salad, one cocktail and one glass of wine was $135 including gratuity. We were fortunate to have a kitchen in our room so we were able to make ourselves the majority of the meals, but when we were across the resort and the hunger hits you, you end up dropping another $120 for two burgers and two lava flows at the lagoon grill. -there were many shops closed in the Makai area, and it sounds like after Covid they've had to close a lot of the areas down (even the bar in the middle of ocean tower where all the boats are parked. It would've been so great to have another dining/bar option so much closer to where we were in the resort!!!) - the gaslighting about the boats: we kept being told the boats are running, "they'll be coming by any second!" We didn't even want to ride the boats, we're just curious where they were. Finally got someone to spill the tea, and they haven't been running for months (which again- not a problem, we just don't understand the lies. Just tell us they're down for the foreseeable future). - trying to sell us more at every turn: we understand we are guests of someone else's timeshare, but if y'all just gave us an amazing experience, we would spend more on tours and stuff. It feels like all the renovation money and staffing is on selling grand vacations, not on having everyone enjoy their vacation.

"C'mon Feel The Noise" - Twisted Sister. This place was a balance of good and bad. First the BAD, let's just get those out of way first, because that's the order in which things happened. SERVICE: As soon as I drove onto the lot, I got a text saying there was a charge on my credit card, $164 more to be exact. This was concerning, because I got an invoice for the 2-night's stay including taxes and resort fees and it didn't say anything about the extra $164. At the front desk and there's a really nice trainee named John; he was pleasant and friendly. He didn't know the answer to my query, so he had to speak to his trainer (A****), a woman who was abrupt/unpleasant. She was irritated at my question and very unclear as to what the extra charge was. she said something about 'taxes upon taxes'. I walked away not knowing what the heck she was talking about, heck, maybe she didn't know what she was talking about either!! I didn't expect this kind of treatment at a Hilton. After I got home I contacted Hilton, and they explained it as 'soft hold' on the charge, not the actual charge; for instance if you trash the room or steal those nice fluffy towels. I wish I knew this at the front desk, because it set the tone for the rest of the stay. PARKING: Open air, large lot. Self park $48/day, Valet $55 w/o tip. If you get the local's kama'aina package deal, you can self-park for free. Park as close to the hotel as you can, but don't make our mistake lugging baggage over the lot, drop it off at front, then go park! The heat was oppressive in October, making the trek from the parking lot seem a lot longer. TRANSPORTATION: Catch the monorail or slow boat to your tower. Monorail sometimes goes back to the Makai Tower before going to the other ones, so see which direction it's headed if you're in a rush - ask people on the tram which direction it's headed when the door opens. It's quicker to walk, but for some people, it's considered too far of a walk, so it's nice Hilton provides this service. PALACE TOWER PARTIAL OCEAN VIEW ROOM 2 QUEENS: Partial ocean one side, construction view on the other. Room standard sized, mini-fridge, cold quiet AC, blackout curtains, safe, nice huge vanity at the sink, insanely tiny bathroom with toilet and shower, the smallest I've been in except for Japan and Paris. Beds and pillows super soft, bad for bad-backs. Now the BAD: SUPER NOISY, bring earplugs! The hotel really should supply these. You can hear everything: doors slamming, drawers opening, sliding glass doors sliding, people showering, talking in hallways, kids running and yelling down hallway at 4 AM (where the hell are they going at that hour), we never got a good night's rest. Someone dropped something on the floor above our room and it woke us up at 3 AM. It sounded like a dumbbell, but probably just a bottle of wine, or something. Our tub backed up first night there. Maintenance came and cleaned out stuff from the drain "maybe one year's worth" of junk in there, according to him. He was nice and quick. Cockroach(es) in our room, darting out from under the TV to sample our sushi platter on the table. If you see one, there's many more hiding. POOLS: Great fun! Go out early to get the non-reserved loungers. The Kona water slide and grotto were closed, but I saw some guests sneaking into the roped-off jacuzzi with w/ waterfall. There were guests there with boom boxes, no wrist bands, smoking cigarettes, ruining the vibe. I don't think Waikoloa checks our wristbands, no one did. You can sneak onto the property and pull all these stunts and no one enforces anything. The saltwater lagoon was nice too, water a bit murky but I saw turtles and fish. Bring your own reef walkers and snorkel to save your feet/wallet. Towels are provided via machines that dispenses them w/ your room key. Sometimes they run out. I tried to use my key at another tower and it didn't work. There are also other machines by the lagoon/pools. DOLPHINS: There's a dolphin lagoon where you can watch them for free or pay to go into the water with them. I felt really bad for these dolphins. I watched them being petted by tourists who paid to do this. I know these dolphins are born in captivity and don't know any better, but still super sad. They do tricks for food and get petted and know nothing about living. FOOD: Too expensive on property. One plate spaghetti/meatballs $30 at Nui Italian. We drove off daily to get to Queen's Marketplace to get take out sushi/sandwiches. OVERALL: Very pretty property with rolling open spaces, tiki torches, amazing sunsets. Because the property is so huge, it doesn't feel super crowded at all, even with the pools being occupied on a Saturday. The walkways to/from towers have art, paintings and statues (jokers put rocks under the animals butts). The architecture is from the 90's, opulent and pretty amazing - you won't find this kind of scale at modern hotels. RETURN FACTOR: with earplugs and Hoy Hoy Trap-A-Roach kit.

I visited for the property again as I was traveling with a friend who has children and had it not been for that, I probably would not visit the property. It's crowded , staff service is hit or miss. The food onsite is expensive and mediocre. I am spoiled to live in a beautiful area where I can enjoy fresh and high quality dining. The food here in the restaurants ( we had dinner at NUI Italian and KPC AKA the steakhouse)is comparable To the food stands at Disney. My friend and I both ordered $70 fish dishes which were bland and overcooked. How do you mess up the catch of the day in Hawaii?! We spent $400 for 2 adults and 2 children and while we are not strangers to these prices, we were less than impressed with the low quality. We paid for the view which was the most positive point I can make. I attempted to enjoy the amenities at the spa and had a cold reception from the two women working the counter; I was not feeling the Aloha spirit by any means and opted to excuse myself. It's too bad for them I I just spent a week at the moon Palace, The Grand where everyone went above and beyond to make the guest experience memorable. I didn't even pay for a spa treatment at the resort and was invited to enjoy the amenities at any time and when I checked in, they assigned my own attendant for the bathing ritual offered in the spa ( look it up if you're curious, you won't be disappointed). On my most recent visit to Kona 6 months ago, I stayed at the Fairmont Orchid just up the road and the two experiences could not be more different when I compare the value of my stay ( amenities, dining and service). I would in the future stay in a vacation rental if traveling with children. We spent a large portion of our time off the property at the beaches and local restaurants away from this village. Not my vibe and I would not recommend at this time( my first review was several years ago and then you could see the service was less than on par in the less busy season.

It will cost $55 (June 2024) to have a breakfast buffet here. Yes, this is hawaii but let this thought sink in - it'll cost $200+ for a family of four to breakfast here. However, staff is pleasant and accommodating. Food choices are endless. Great outdoor views

If Walmart rented rooms? READ THIS BEFORE YOU BOOK!! Still here getting ready to check out. Soooooooo... Here's the deal. 3 Star at best. Super let down. Now, I might be a little spoiled because I travel a good amount. That's fair. BUT, the reason for my review is to save some of you the pain of trying to save a few bucks and then not enjoying your stay. This is for the hotel only, not the others units at the resort. THE GOOD: The setting is second to none. But, thats it. Back in the day this would have been THE place to stay. But literally at this point in history there is nothing else. THE REALITY: This place is OLD and fairly DIRTY. Nothing else to say. It's just not clean anywhere. But, this is partly because it is super old I think. All the floors stained and dirty as you wank around. Our room needed repairs and was dirty. Check out dust video. It's TO BIG and NOT WORTH THE WAlK. You have to walk everywhere unless you take the SCAM TRAM. At first you're like "OH, a train! How lux." It saves you a little time, but barely. Most people don't ride it again after check in. Want to be entertained? Listen to what people walking by you with luggage or kids or both are saying as they pass or stop for a rest. People everywhere breathing hard and saying to their kids things like "It's ok honey, we're are almost there... you can make it." Getting checked in and trying to look around we ended up walking 1.7 miles and tapping out for a minute at the pool restaurant. (More on restaurants later) Other people were saying things as they walked by us like "Well, at least we will get our steps in." And "Is it the last building that I see? Thats so far." Facility: So it's old, it's dirty, they still are renting DVD in the halls, there are coke machines on every floor like a Motel 6, and you are going to love it this one!!! They have towel vending machines. With the oldest nastiest towels you have ever seen, many were worn through, with a sign that says we have tracking chips in our towels and we will charge you 20$ if you steal our towels! (Pic) Haha. If someone needs to steal those towels, my Lord give it to them. My wife went down to get towel for the pool. More on pools. And, the vending machine was empty. So, she asked someone and they said they fill it every few hours. So no towel for the pool for my wife. Pools. To start NONE ARE HEATED, if they are? Whatever. Freezing. Ya know how you want to be inspired when you see the pool at your resort in Hawaii? Not here. Zero inspiration. Old. Small. And great for kids but they won't go in because they are too cold. We watched this happen. There was no Jedi mind thing saying... "You doooooo want to swim here..." The opposite actually. "Doooooo you really want to swim here?" Each time you want the sun you have a discussion on weather its worth it and is there anywhere else we could go. Like a beautiful beach somewhere. Restaurants. Not bad. But, not balanced for two sides of the resort. But not bad. They should have a casual cafe on both ends of resort. A market for small items. Make each side self-contained and nice. Main pool side cafe, don't get the fish tacos. You think they can't mess those up? Like the rest of the resort, they look good on the approach, but fall apart at the table. The Italian place is was good. 35$ I think for spaghetti and meatballs. But hey, if the resort is worth it? Ill pay. The ocean side restaurant looked nice and had good reviews but we decided to get off the property at night. We almost went for breakfast at the main breakfast place, but it was like 90 degrees in there, and they wouldn't open the wall doors for some reason, a little cafeteria like, nothing luxury, and the avocado toast was 36$. Try driving to Hāpuna beach and stopping for the best malisadas (spelling? Island donuts, buy 12 and stop dieting) on the island. You will will see it on the left side of the road. 50-75$ for parking. 85$ for late check out. We didn't do room cleaning but Im sure there was a charge for that because they kept asking us to do it. AS I AM LEAVING I AM THINKING: NEVER AGAIN. What a let down. It was dirty, old, took forever to walk anywhere, the pools weren't nice, the train was slow, everything was worn out, dusty, just the look on people's face told the story. Again, we were looking for something a little more luxurious. If you are just corralling kids the whole time, maybe. But, there are still better places to go where you don't have to be doing the Iron Man (happening down the street at the nice hotel, late discovery) to get around. Am I overdoing it? No. I don't think so. Not if your looking for a 4 star experience. This was a three star all day. If it wasn't for the fact it is in Hawaii, it would have nothing to offer worth on average 500$ per night after all the fees and parking. This place has so much potential, but come on Hilton. Time for $200m make over. You have the money.

Used Resortpass for a day pass to use the pools/lagoon. At the time (mid May) it was $50per person but at other times of the year it is $100 or more. While there is no ocean facing Beach, the overall property is spectacular. The lagoon has the best selection of sealife around - turtles, stingrays, fish - and the pools are amazing. Everything is incredibly well kept, towels are abundant, and multiple places for drinks/food are available. It is definitely worth a day here as part of an overall vacation. The price is pretty high for larger groups at $50 ea, and while Im not suggesting anything else, there was no checking for wristbands anywhere or any real extra included value. Drinks were on average $20 ea, lunch was $25/person and all activities beyond what you can do with what you bring is extra - boats, paddlecraft etc are $50-70/hour. Parking is another $50 which can be offset by buying food and showing the receipt at parking exit. Valet is free with ADA and a food receipt. It is a controlled experience with all the rest of the tourists but definitely worth a day. Big note - while wildlife is great, the overall snorkeling experience (coral, diversity etc) was very limited - definitely suggest branching out to better snorkling areas.

As a Hilton resort, expectations are somewhat high, mine were diminished. The rooms were spacious but in the wrong places. Who needs an 6-7' wall between the sleeping area and restroom? The restrooms definitely need to be redesigned. The sink was separate from the bathtub/shower and toilet, which was the only plus. The room décor looks like it hasn't been updated since the 1980's. We had two rooms in the Palace Resort tower/area. Another fun thing...a tram, to take you to and fro...FYI, it's faster to walk! We also had to pay $350 extra ($50/night and up-front when booking) to guarantee the connecting rooms. However, you try to get past that because (first world problems) and, well, you're in Hawaii!! The employees and locals are truly sharing the "Aloha Spirit"! There's the plus side- The only sandy "beach" area was The Lagoon. The restaurants closed early, at 10pm, this was in July 2024. Room service did not offer breakfast or lunch and was only available, if I recall, from 5pm-10pm. Plus, there was only one option, NUI, which I did like (never ordered room service) but mostly because of the staff. The breakfast buffet was $55/person, young ones are less, I don't remember but I think 4 and under are free. The buffet was expansive, don't expect seafood but pretty good. Our server Ramulo (?) was an absolute delight!!! Our water, coffee, plates couldn't have been filled or removed more swiftly, and we weren't his only table. He has a smile, joy and island spirit that makes you forget how much you're paying for 4 persons!! Truly, it was 'breakfast and a show'. With such an expansive resort, you'd think more of "all the" food and bar options would be available at every hour. I learned, I wasn't in Vegas. So, I needed to chill. (Especially for the price of the stay.) I will give a shout-out to the valet and housekeeping staff who really kept things moving! We didn't utilize housekeeping every day for our week stay, it was unnecessary. However, when I'd call to ask for replacement towels, cups, coffee, trash removal, my wait was less than 10 minutes!! For a resort that size, it was impressive. Also, pretty much EVERYTHING closes around 8pm-10pm. Stock up at the near by grocery stores (about a mile walk, mostly shaded and beautiful). Keep your receipts!! Once you spend as much on food, water, snacks, etc., you will have enough for at least a "free" souvenir! They do have mini fridges in the room. The microwave is somewhere near the ice machine. I will review the restaurants we did eat at because they deserve more stars. I hoped this helped and keep your expectations with the Aloha Spirit in mind! Mahalo!!

We have stayed here often over many years . This has been the worst possible experience! This hotel has turned into a total dive. There are no more kids menus being offered. The rooms don't get cleaned often in our tower. Our room upon being checked in still had food in the fridge. I had to take out my own trash. I wanted to get a cup of drip coffee at the one singular shop they have offered in the tower and the machine is broken so half of the options are unavailable to purchase. Didn't even see the small sign about this after waiting in the insanely long line just to have to leave with nothing. Used to be one of my favorite hotels to stay at. Will never come back here again!

3rd time here. Love this place! We're definitely interested in coming back. The sunsets are amazing, staff is super friendly, and love the free activities offered. Great place for kids and adults. The lagoon provides a safe way to swim in the ocean. So many different fish, tons of turtles, and even a couple spotted eagle rays. Pools and property are very well kept. Room was nice and had no issues whatsoever. You can hike the coastline both directions, one was is about a 20-30 minute hike to the black sand beach, The other is about a mile long walk towards lava lava beach club. We did both multiple times and loved it. Only complaint is the crazy high prices of the property gift shops and restraunt's. Coffee shops are reasonable but both restraunt's charge way too high of a price considering the quality of the food. Plenty of nearby options for food of better price and quality.

DO NOT COME HERE. Long wait times for room. Were told we were upgraded. Arrived to an "ocean-view" room not even worth it with a view of the roof (no beach in sight). Asked for original room, said they didn't have it bc they overbooked. Huh?? What do you mean you overbooked? How does your booking system work? Damn near wanted to tell front desk staff I'd do it myself. Pricey, mediocre, better places somewhere else.

I was not a fan of this hotel and what made it worse, there was a race going on, but this is not the hotel's fault. I don't know how to describe this place. It was the makings of something potentially great but it wasn't happening. So I apparently got an upgrade to 5346. I don't know how to describe it but it was the building to the left. There is a boat, a walkway, and a train you can take to get there. We took the train and it was extremely crowded because they dont seem to run as often as they should. The elevators are at the extreme end of the building and then our room was in the middle of the building and there was not a lot of signage. The room looked at the mountains. The original room I choose had an ocean view so I am not sure how this was an upgrade. The biggest issue was ALL NIGHT the door was shaking against the frame due to the wind. It was incessant and annoying. The room was a good size but felt dated and it still used a put in the hole keycard, you don't see those much. A lot of screaming kids which seemed to have been exacerbated by the open air atrium. The ice was on the extreme end of the building too so it was a lot of walking. The next morning breakfast did not start until 7am and we had a 11am flight. However, the race was closing the only road in and out for prolonged periods of time and then the main hwy was also going to be closed so we decided to go to the King K buffet at the Courtyard which was horrible.

It's a nice hotel but the old things like the train needs an upgrade. We went in the last open spot in the train and their ac was out! It was hotter in there than outside and it was moving like 1 mph. The shops there are really nice and neat but maybe have some shortcuts if people are going to walk. The pools are really nice because there is the kohala restrooms and it's near by. The slides are really slow though. The rooms are nice and big but the ac wasn't working and we had someone put a whole new motor in it and it was way cooler. The beds were very soft but you could feel the springs inside the bed. This hotel definitely deserves 3 stars.

This place has great view, lots of pools and really big overall. The customer service personnels were nice. Yesterday there were two trams and one boat that was running. We thought to take the tram to our room that located at the palace tower from guest service Then we want to get back to our rental Jeep to get our belongings which we took the boat there. Since we had our belongs which are luggage we have to take the tram back to the hotel room. This whole process took us about 1.5 hour. We were shocked. We then decided to walk the whole time here so far. There are a few restaurants that we saw. The walking pathway with sculptures, vases etc are lovely.

My second time coming back here with my toddler. We love it here!! I read so many bad reviews but let me give my middle/lower class local girl/mom review. I kept reading about roaches and as you know on the island there's a lot of creatures and critters but luckily I didn't find any in my room (both stays). My room wasn't "high class" or anything fancy but it served its purpose. We had a his and her sink, tub, plenty of space, 2 queen size beds or 1 king and a large tv. Also working AC . The only negative was our cabinet to the mini fridge wouldn't stay close and creaked every time it opened. Other than that beautiful view and balcony to hang our wet clothes. Luckily we didn't spend much time in the room since we mainly paid for the resort. The pools, water slides and lagoon. It's amazing how big and beautiful the property is. Picture worthy 100%. There's many large vases and sculptures. Asian art, animals, Hawaiian artifacts and paintings. The views are just amazing here! There's dolphins, turtles, fishes (tons in the lagoon/beach even in the hotel lagoons). The only thing staying here involves a lot of walking. They have a tram but it comes maybe every 10 minutes? Not too sure since my toddler is impatient so we just walked everywhere. Most definitely got our steps in. Use your stroller or wagon. My only recommendation is better food on property so we don't need to walk/drive to Queensland and Kingsland Shops. Or maybe more food options. Service is 10/10. The people here are friendly and nice! I only encountered 1 rude person but I don't want to bad talk 1 person when everyone else here was amazing! Freda and Chas at the front desk are so sweet and awesome they made our stay very special!

I believe we've been staying annually at the Hilton Waikaloa since 1988, along with our HGVC stays since 2005. At this very moment, we're staying at the HGVC Ocean Tower and we're going to swim at the Kona Pool. The tram isn't running; the canal boats aren't running; and, we've been unable to find towels at the Kohala Pool, by the Lagoon station; or, the Kona pool. While there was someone still working at the Kona Pool, he said we could check at the Makai lobby or return to Ocean Tower. While there are 8 towels in the Makai towel locker, my Ocean Tower key will not open it. I called Ocean Tower and they transferred me to Housekeeping. Housekeeping transferred me to the Waikaloa Hilton Front Desk. The Front Desk transferred me to Housekeeping whereupon no one answered. I recognize it's a holiday, but just tell us to go back to Ocean Tower to get our room towels. It would be more courteous and save time.

GREW UP GOING HERE SO I FEEL I HAVE A GOOD SENSE OF HOW THIS PLACE HAS BEEN OVER THE PAST 30+ years this is the first time ive been since the "covid" scare and one of the things i noticed was everything seems very run down .. we stayed in room 2295 rooms were very dusty from lint that was in the blankets and laundry, we also found roaches in the room every morning even though our slider was kept shut .. the ac made ridiculous noise when the fan was on high , medium speed didnt work we figured we were here for the pools and stuff anyway so we looked past the above mentioned... lots of inconsistencies within operations ... one day no one says anything about wristbands the next day workers were denying my kids access to the slide giving them attitude like they were trespassing ...

We got a really good deal for a 5 day 4 night stay at this hotel so based on the price the hotel is worth it. The sprawling property totes 2 huge pools with a number of little slides, inner bay with a private beach, morning fish feeding, art and definitely kid friendly. There was also a pool full of 6 porpoises. It was sad to see them in captivity but admittedly cool to see them up close. The property is huge with two trams and a boat to get to the different buildings. One of the trams was not working when we arrived but we did not mind the walk. The Asian and European art works really provided an entertaining view so nothing was ever quite the same when walking through. The pools were open at all hours so that was nice to be able to swim and also enjoy the sound of the ocean. During the day we swam in the bay and saw fishes, turtles and manta rays. Everything was relaxing and quite beautiful. The hotel room we stayed at was a little dated with a view of the golf course. Smelled a little like mildew and the bathrooms were old with the showers constantly splashing water out of the tub. However.. the point of the stay was to be outside so it was okay. Positive side is the rooms are huge with a sitting area, closet, sink area. Would definitely return!

Our experience at this resort was great. It was very typical of a Hilton resort but fine for our family as our goal was just relaxation. We stayed in the Ocean Tower in the older rooms. There is no microwave in the older rooms, the bathrooms are dated, the tubs are a bit slippery, and our room had full size beds not queen beds. They are currently working on renovating all the ocean tower rooms to become villas so you might encounter some construction during your stay, we didn't. The monorail was working when we visited but it is very slow; it is often faster to walk to your destination than take the monorail. There is only one pool with jacuzzis if that is your thing: the Kona pool. They have two jacuzzis towards the back of the pool. Don't miss out on the lagoon, it is perfect for a nice morning family outing. Lots of green space for little kids to run around on but not a lot of activities for kids outside of the pool and lagoon. Still very centrally located and a good resort for families.

What we liked. All the plants were beautifully maintained and the sunsets from this location were amazing! The bed mattresses were comfortable. ------------------- What we didn't like it. The room was out dated. (Specially bath room!) The room did not have a microwave, so we rented one and were charged $30 for it, the microwave was very dirty and not worth the $30. Also one of the feet on the one bottom removed, so it was very unstable every time we used it. There are statues all over the hotel, but I thought that if they are going to spend money on statues, they should enhance the contents of the rooms. It costs about $50 a day to park a car. Cheapest stiff toilet paper. Final Thoughts.... I would recommend this hotel for families with small children, but not for the elderly or those with disabilities, as it is a very large hotel and it takes a lot of walking and a little time to get out of the hotel. There is a tram service, but we felt it was a waste of time to wait for the tram. The Hilton Hotel seemed to be trying to get as much money out of us as possible for whatever reason...

Pros -Beautiful grounds, a lot to see. Cons -Rooms are dated and dirty. We ended up cleaning blood off a wall and feces off a toilet lid upon arrival. -Mini fridge was useless, we had to put bags of ice inside to keep things cold. -Staff are not helpful in connecting you with needed ammenities. -Palace tower has almost no basic ammenities, you must walk super far for things like a laundry or fitness room which are not well maintained. -Tram is essentially useless because it is so slow and infrequent. Be prepared to walk a lot just to get to/from your room. -Restaurants on site are super overpriced and not vegetarian or vegan friendly. This place is incredibly overpriced and they charge insane resort fees and $50/day to park which is a racket because you must have a car due to how far this resort is from major sites/cities. The "ocean view" we paid extra for was incredibly misleading. Most of our vuew was of other buildings. The resort fees did not provide anything of interest to us. Not worth it. Save your money and go elsewhere.

This place is huge with its own lagoon to snorkel in. Lots of different water areas for all kinds of different abilities and comfort levels. Great views. It'a very big and the boat and shuttle are fun for a while, but I got over it quickly. The bad- we were hanging out by the northern pools and slides, the kid area, and there was no real Supervision of older kids (parents or staff). Kids were jumping off the bridge and rock formations into water that was no more than 5 feet deep. They were jumping off the rocks into the slide. Dangerous for the jumpers and people they didn't always look out for.

This place is amazing it should be five stars, my third time here was as good as the first and second. How can people not enjoy this place. It has a whole lagoon! It also has a pool 10 times bigger than the rooms! There are turtles in the lagoon and eels. There is so much I am not talking about because this place is so big. I love it.

This once beautiful resort has seen better days. While the grounds are still gorgeous the rooms are VERY dated and are in need of a remodel ASAP. The double beds are not sized for adults. The food was better this time (their famous poke nachos do vary in quality from visit to visit) and the service was great however I could've done without the snarkiness of the front desk clerk.

The resort it self is huge and impressive. Very enjoyable to just walk are and enjoy the scenery. Staff was attentive and very friendly. I think this is a hotel that is better to visit, rather than stay at. My biggest complaint and I ruined my stay, because both me and my daughter got sick from it, was a moldy comforter. Hope no one else has to deal with this while on vacation.

In summary- 2025 hotel update Find a different hotel This hotel is now run down, worst beds feel like a motel 6. Wall paper falling off walls, dirty gross feeling outside and inside the room, staff is indifferent and non helpful. Food is below resort level. Now you have to pay a resort fee and get motel 6 level quality yet they have made it convenient for you to download an ap to tip the cleaning staff. I wish I would have looked up reviews since it's been a few years from last time we stayed here. Other reviewer had it right- place is awful. I too am crying paying 1000 a night for a place I wouldn't pay 100 at home. I guess today I'll spend looking into finding another hotel because this place is awful. Waisted day. Hate that we even would pay $300 a night here let alone $1000. Run away- don't look back. If you need to continue reading- do so but this is just part of the experience. We have been coming here for years and always had a pleasant experience. This time was shocking in the worst way. The ambience when you enter is dead. There is no welcoming relaxing feel. Give me something that says welcome to Hawaii and relax- instead it was somber and cold and unwelcoming. We were 2nd in Hilton honors line as guy was already helping someone when we walked up. After about 15 minutes I went to the regular check in line and after another 5 was about to be next when the honors line opened up and my husband was waited on. We checked in and were handed bands but turns out he took back a band because he "gave us one extra" but turns out it was one less when it was handed with keys and we were NOT going to stand in line again although it would have been a nice keepsake. He asked if we stayed here before we said yes which I guess was a cue for him not to do his job and tell us anything about the property so I finally said it's been 4 years what's new since 2020 and he said well we don't have the restaurants from before. I asked if they still had the boat room shuttle and the way he said "well yes but it only comes maybe twice a day" . The way he said it just felt like he was preparing us to be disappointed about this stay. I have not seen the boat at all and it's day 4. The place has gone downhill. Motel 6 rooms at four seasons prices. Got to the room and our keys didn't work. Had to call from cell phone to have them deliver keys to us. Next morning keys didn't work when we went to get towels. Later that day once again needed new keys. Came to room and that's when we discovered you have to request room service 24 hours in advance - yet we're not told at check in and they refused to do it but delivered towels and 3 of the 4 cups I requested. Still no sign of the refillable water bottle I requested twice as told by bellman that they would send up. The facilities are run down. The tram, I believe, is slower than its ever been. The rooms are motel 6 level with the worst beds ever, wall paper coming off walls, shower sprayer kept falling (finally got that fixed) and yes- the cleaning crew leaves stuff in your room or leaning next to your door. The water path outside the room is filled with trash and do not disturb signs floating. Great first impression to what we will see daily. Room is at the end so that is where all the trash gets stuck so I'd think maybe having a cleaning crew clean up twice a day might be needed. The staff doesn't care at all- not friendly, not helpful Before- smiled, aloha and can I help you 2025- I don't know- maybe someone else can help you. Good luck. (5 staff members don't know where you can blow up a pool float- finally asked a guest carrying a float and they told me. My back from the beds hurt. I do appreciate the gesture of hour long lagoon toy rental to make up for my 1000 night room rental that is comparable to a $16 motel six rental but this didn't even things up.

This was our second time staying at the resort. The resort is definitely showing its age. The boats were not operating so we had to take the trams. They were very very slow and the air conditioning was broke. No big deal for able bodied people, they can walk, but for those of us with disabilities or older folks it was a little rough. Rooms were comfortable and spacious. Pools are definitely the highlight for us. Wish the slides had been open though. The kids were pretty disappointed they couldn't use the slides. My biggest complaint is the lack of food options on property. All options close at 5, except Nui the Italian restaurant. So if you want to eat anything after 5 you have to eat at the overpriced Italian restaurant or head into the nearby shopping centers. It would be nice to be able to stay on property to eat dinner. Overall beautiful property, but lack of food options is definitely a minus.

Three stars is about right for this spot. The rooms need to be renovated. Nice pool,but not deep at all and not great for swimming. There is a lagoon which was nice. HH benefits don't work at the main restaurant. There is also not a viable bar to get a drink at in the evening. I'd personally not stay here again. Just ok and not impressive at all.

Well, it's hard to exactly pinpoint things. It's a maze to start with so if you don't know where you're going especially at check in, then you need to ask. You'll get your steps in especially if the team (which is painfully slow) isn't close by. Check in was smooth (if you're in the proper tower) and the room was ok. Clean but outdated - not many outlets and they aren't in good condition. Food was ok in the Kona bar but pricey as is the island. The things that we meet really helpful - bars have worsted hours if they're open, machines are out of things like water, air con that barely work. Called maintenance and not even sure they stopped by so I gave up. Overall the complex is massive and beautiful. Area surrounding has plenty of food and drink options. I'd come back but really try a different building or something. Patience helps with walking and the silly tram but it's a beautiful place to spend time.
