A nice place to visit if you are a art lover or interested in history. There are a lot of historical things related to Himachal, shimla, spiti etc. Its located in a nice quiet place, with sunlight coming from front, a ambient place. Either enjoy in the park or visit the museum. Ticket cost ₹100/- for Indian.

Best Place to visit in Shimla: We visited this place based on a random recommendation from a local, and it turned out to be an incredible experience. The museum is stunning, highly photogenic, and has an international feel. It is impeccably clean, surrounded by lush greenery, and undoubtedly one of the most beautiful museums I have visited in India. Located about 4 km from Kachi Ghati, Shimla, the entry fee is ₹50 per person. However, if you wish to take pictures, an additional ₹100 charge applies for mobile cameras—without it, photography is not allowed. I highly recommend getting the camera ticket, as the museum houses an extensive collection spanning centuries, filling you with awe and joy. The staff is exceptionally polite and helpful. To explore the entire collection properly, you’ll need at least two hours. This is a great place to visit with family, especially for those with kids. The museum also offers wheelchair- ♿ accessible parking 🅿️ and entrance, ensuring convenience for all visitors.

It is one of the best museums I have visited. Very large number articles, old paintings, artifacts, coils, idols etc etc are exhibited here. It is one of the must visit places in Shimla. You need atleast 2 hours to see all the things in this museum. It is situated at the highest level and sometimes you need to walk for around 500 mtrs. Road to go here is steep.

The Himachal State Museum in Shimla is a treasure trove of cultural and historical artifacts, offering visitors a deep dive into the rich heritage of Himachal Pradesh. Housed in a colonial-era mansion atop Mount Pleasant, the museum's Victorian-style architecture and well-maintained lawns provide a serene atmosphere for exploration. Inside, the museum boasts a diverse collection, including ancient stone carvings, miniature paintings, coins, and photographs that narrate the region's vibrant past. The painting gallery, in particular, showcases the lifestyle and culture of the Himalayan people, featuring Pahari miniature paintings from the early 19th century. Beyond its indoor exhibits, the museum's location offers spectacular views of Shimla's surrounding hills and forests, making it a visual delight both inside and out. The tranquil environment, combined with the wealth of knowledge housed within, makes it a must-visit for history enthusiasts and casual visitors alike.

A place worth visiting.. located on top of hill on the way to Rashtrapati Niwas or as presently known as Indian Institute of Advanced Study. The museum has small parking facility. The entrance is ticketed. It houses many important aspects of life of people in the region. The attire, ornaments, the weapons, the utensils, the coins, the paintings.. it's all worth seeing. One can purchase souvenirs at the entrance. The premises are neat, clean and well maintained with washroom facility. One needs atleast 2 -3 hours to go through the things on display.
