Visited the Himachal State Museum in Shimla and it was a wonderful experience for anyone interested in history and culture. The museum is housed in a beautiful colonial-style building surrounded by greenery, which itself is very charming. The galleries display an impressive collection of ancient sculptures, traditional Himachali costumes, paintings, coins, and historical artifacts that give a deep insight into the rich heritage of Himachal Pradesh. The famous Pahari miniature paintings are especially fascinating to see. The museum is well maintained and peaceful, making it a great place to explore and learn about the region’s art, culture, and history. A must-visit for history lovers visiting Shimla.

The Himachal State Museum in Shimla is a wonderful place to explore the rich history and culture of Himachal Pradesh. The museum is well-maintained and displays beautiful artifacts, traditional costumes, sculptures, paintings, and historical items that are very informative for all age groups. It is perfect for students, families, history lovers, and tourists. The entry ticket costs ₹100. Photography inside the museum is not allowed; however, if you wish to take photos, there is an additional charge of ₹100 per phone. If you enjoy culture and history or are simply looking for a peaceful place away from the city’s noise, this museum is definitely worth spending an hour or two. Highly recommended for history lovers and curious travelers.

The Himachal State Museum has an interesting collection of artefacts. The entry fee is just 50 rs and photography is allowed after purchasing a photo pass. There are many galleries located over two floors. They have original artefacts from dig sites near himachal which is fascinating. There stone age tools, wooden handicrafts, chamba rumals, modern paintings and even himachali bronzes. They also have a store which sells souvenirs and books. They also have a cafe for some tea and coffee and snacks. Do visit.

The surroundings are peaceful, clean, and well-organized, making it a pleasant visit. Located near Chaura Maidan, it is easily accessible and worth a visit when in Shimla.

Perched at quite a height (road leading upto it has quite a gradient), the state museum has something for everyone. Tickets are 100 Re and photography inside is not allowed. It has sections from numismatics(coins) to handicrafts, sculptures, ornaments and paintings. It also has a significant section towards Indian Army and small portions towards history of the state and few old images. Reliable electricity sadly was a problem when I visited. The layout is not very systematic or planned though(except for an initial plan of the museum at entrance, little grid lines are present)

Not many visit the state museum but if you're going to Indian Institute of Advance Studies to see the archaeological building, you must stop by to visit this museum. Great collection, very clean and neatly labelled and you wouldn't believe it looking from outside but it's quite a big museum from inside.
