Himalaya Grocers

This store is awesome! I came away with quite a haul of spices, seeds, and dals for about 12 bucks. Most items come in either small or large quantities, so you don't have to worry about breaking the bank on an item you don't like. Lots of specialty items are priced at 4 or 5 times cheaper than American grocery stores. The clerks are nice, and the store is clean.

Nice place with plenty of variety to choose from. Very clean and organized. Girl at register helped me get what I needed and even provided some home remedies for different ailments. She is very sweet and friendly. Nice to have this grocery store in our neighborhood.

love this place. they expanded into the suite next door and about doubled the selection: fresh produce, ready-made meals, bulk spices, dry goods, an extensive collection of snacks and sweets, health and beauty sections..etc. super friendly staff. see also: deli-style samosas, prepared henna cones, british foods difficult to find elsewhere.

Clean Indian supermarket managed by a charismatic helpful girl. Efficient and particular. You can find their shelves filled with most popular Indian brands and Pakistani brands. Have an extensive range of mala's masalas. Not much in terms of dairy products. But every essential of covered.

I love this place before covid-19 the owner would let me touch and look at everything. It's a awesome store with good prices and a good selection of goods. Plus the have the best candy bar that ever existed, a "crunchy."

We love this place! It's scrupulously clean, has a great range of Indo-Pak groceries, in addition to some fresh fruit and veg and some British goods (mainly chocolate bars and biscuits). It's a great source for almost any ingredients for Indian cooking - coconut milk, loads of different spices, curry pastes etc - but also has some products I've had trouble finding elsewhere in Houston, such as Maggi sauces. Highly recommended!

Very friendly, and typical Indian, liking varieties all at one place in this part of the town.... Also, supporting a small family business enhances entrepreneur's American dream... Always support them...

Been shopping here since it opened several years ago. Extremely clean, well stocked and excellent customer service. Definitely recommend to anyone.

Look, I have absolutely NO PROBLEM if a person doesn't speak English. Hell...throw me into Southeast Asia and I will show you how to be Mute. I'm talkin' mute on TEN. 0 to 100 real quick. But what I DO have a problem with is people having stores that cater to the public but don't at least have an English speaking person on site. And I have an EXTRA problem with people hanging up in my face. I called THREE Indian grocery stores just KNOWING that they speak English (cause most Indians I've met do), and I was hung up on twice...and the last chick put the phone down so I could listen to her argument with a customer...probably in hopes I'd hang up. REALLY, LIFE!? WHAT. THE. F-C-U-U-K-!-!-? So my last hope for buying incense before throwing in the towel and taking it to Amazon was to call Himalaya Grocers. THANK YOU, JESUS! They don't have all the variety that I'm used to regarding incense, but they had the basics. Nag Champa...you my only friend! Plus they had this rather unique Lord Buddha un named scent. I love that, too. Don't want to get your feelings hurt by the dial tone? Himalaya Grocers is where it's at! (And I'll be back next time to shop the grocery section)

I have been going to Himalaya Grocers for quite some time now and asking myself the question of why I have never written a review for them. This last visit was due to shortage of Lentil and dates. I found out that the owner has opened another location on Barker Cypress and Hwy290. As previously mentioned, I needed 2 specific kinds of Lentils: Masoor and Malka Masoor. I didn't need to go any further than Himalaya. Got both items 4lbs each. While strolling through the store, I started grabbing extra items: Zeera (cumin), Dhaniya (Coriander), Haldi (Turmeric), red chilli powder, mustard seeds, Kalonji, Fenugreek, Achar (indian spice dip), and a few more Indian grocery items. I was able to complete my spontaneous extended grocery list. Being the month of Ramadan, I also needed dates and they had a solid collection. Btw, they also usually have samosas at the counter which are made fresh daily. Overall the service is great. They have this one chick who runs the store daily and is pretty cordial and helpful to customers. I have run into the owner a few times and he is very polite and courteous. Himalaya is a tad less expensive than other competitors and you can find a wide range of authentic Indian grocery and snack items which are fresh and not outdated. Make sure to check out their frozen ice cream section and the Haldi Ram snack item section.

I have been shopping from them for 4 years now. Customer service is really good. They recently expanded store too. I buy fresh rotis or samosas from them which are reasonably priced and fresh / taste good. Normally you get most of things you need from indian store. Its a good store if you are looking for something in this area. Price might be little bit more than other bigger stores but not that bad. One improvement they can do is to make sure they remove expired items. I many times see expired items, especially nasta or mukhvaas. But this is a problem with most indian stores. Overall I will recommend this store.

BEWARE sells EXPIRED food items which could be injurious to health. Pl check the use by dates before buying and guess what some of the food products do not have dates printed at all. So if the snacks have stale odor or taste bad, you have to remember to take the packet with you and then and then you get your money back. Such a filthy requirement- first of all you buy it and then remember to keep the packet (even if in the first place it is the fault of store owner to sell the expired food items.

They were very nice to me in here. For some reason people in most Indian grocers I've gone to are very judgemental if you're not Indian. No issue at all here. Small, but had a nice spice aisle which is exactly what I came for. Will be back soon.

So my hubby and I were driving by and saw the sign and decided to go in. BEST IDEA EVER. The store is super clean and everything is so very neat. The prices are moderate. This is a mom and pop store so you can't expect price matching but I will pay the extra to shop here but on most items i don't have to. The staff is friendly and answer questions readily. The even offered, when asked, to supply me with a bulk item that is usually sold individually.

I dropped into this store on my way home from a client's home, on a whim. I'm glad I did. Friendly helpful staff, great selection of food stuffs that I had never seen before, smiles all around. I'll be back.

The sales woman, the short one, has begun to have a bad attitude. She used to be more friendly and polite before. I have been shopping here for a while before I discovered Keemat grocers on 1960. Keemat grocers is way better than this store (they always have weekly specials). Whereas with Himalaya, first of they have the highest price for everything in the store. Secondly, they don't have price stickers on packages or shelves, which is not very nice. We want to know what the price of an item is before we buy, right? Anyway I only go there for emergency shopping.
