Himalaya Indian Restaurant

I tried this restaurant recently. While the experience was okay, the food didn’t meet my expectations. There aren’t many Indian cuisine options in Kyiv, but personally I don’t think I would return. The taste was not even close to the Indian dishes I’ve had in other countries.

Our favourite Indian restaurant in Kyiv. We have dine-in and order online few times. We love it! The foods just delicious, good portions and presentation. The staff are friendly and welcoming. They will asked the spicy level of the foods. The hot spicy is indeed spicy, so be cautious with the hotness spicy level! 🤭🔥 They can also provide some chilli if you want it more spicy & add more yourself 🌶️🌶️🌶️ The restaurant also has some spices near the bar counter that you can purchase & bring home. Vegetarian meals available & really yum. The restaurant seems almost always busy at weekends especially around dinner or lunch time, so best to make reservations in advance. I ordered lamb biryani’s it has only 2 small pieces of lamb. Although lamb is very cheap in Ukraine. I thought it might was a mistake and I ordered another lamb plate and shockingly it came with one piece. Very stingy Indian cook inside the kitchen. Never again to this stingy lamb

Excellent Indian cuisine. Service is very good, location interior design is very lovely. Be sure to take a walk to the upper floor to get the full picture. Food can be ordered with additional spice, if you like your food as spicy as I do.

Pryvet Hello, i am a regular customer at himalaya. Most customers dont come back if they have a bad experience at a restaurant. I came a month ago & had a nice meal sagwala chicken spicy. My partner had a vegetarian dish, mango lassi & dessert. It was lovely. The food was great. We came back on saturday 7th february at 19.30 a table of 5 of us as we bought some friends that i recomended himalaya to. We were seated upstairs. On saturday the food was noticeably different. Bowls of curry contained a lot less, the garlic naan was lifeless almost like it was re-heated. I again ordered the sagwala chicken & said i liked very spicy food. I said that i had travelled india & liked hot food. I said to the waiter that i like hot spicy food & i had tried this dish 2 weeks earlier spicy/hot & it was great. His english was great & our table had 2 ukrainians at it speaking ukrainian. The sagwala dish that came out took 10 mins longer than others delivered to the table, but the worst part was there was no heat or spice in the sagwala. It had zero heat & was not spicy hot at all, not even mild. I did not complain but was just super disapointed. I worked many years in 5 star hospitality & know what normally occurs when you complain. It sadly got even worse. When we went to pay our bill my american friend pointed out that his dish was 350uah on the menu when he ordered but on the bill it was 510 uah. It was the same for all the prices on the menu vs the bill. We spent 10 minutes going over the bill. Everything was a higher price than listed on the menu. When our ukrainian friends asked why this was the waiter said there was a 15% service charge added to the bill. There was additional charges added but they were not labelled as anything. It did not show ’15% service included’. There was just an unlabelled amount in the total column added in. This seemed really deceptive & dis-honest. The app then additionally asked if we wanted to tip the waiter in addition to the compulsory service charge that we had not been advised of or been asked about. A service charge can be added in the west but it is clearly advised on all menus before ordering. Its also itemised & spelt out on the bill. I have managed multiple restaurants & i think perhaps the waiter is adding a secretive charge to your app & to customers bills. I really dont feel like returning to himalaya after this experience. I hope this feedback helps you change processes before you begin slowly to lose customers. I have now gone from a happy repeat visit customer to someone that wont come back & would advise others to not eat at himalaya. I am the customer who never comes back. I hope Himalaya changes what it does b/c it was good food usually & a good experience.

This restaurant really nails authentic Indian food. You can go in without reservations provided its not the weekend, good luck at that. But the food is fantastic and is highly recommended for anyone who loves Indian food or for Indians who want to taste authentic Indian cuisine away from home. The waitresses are polite and responsive, the food is served hot and on time, there are Indian movies or songs playing on the TV and much more. The place may not be as large as other famous Indian restaurants in Kiev but this place is a must go for anyone craving authentic Indian cuisine.

This place is a true culinary gem! As a regular customer, I can honestly say the food here is always absolutely superb—rich, flavorful, and made with real heart and soul. Every dish is a burst of spicy perfection, and you can taste the passion in every bite. The staff are always so polite, friendly, and attentive, making you feel genuinely welcome from the moment you walk in. Everything, as always, is simply outstanding.
