Google
We got the buffet choice and this restaurant was SO tasty and nice!!!! I loved the veggie pakora and this is so cheap for its amazing quality/quantity. We were recommended by two people to go here and I also highly recommend Himalayan!

Olga Egorova

Google
Happened to come here on a Monday and enjoyed the buffet. Lots of great flavorful food at a very modest price! Also BYOB.

Google
We tried Himalayan Curry & Grill for the first time for a special birthday dinner with some friends, and we couldn’t believe we had never heard of it before! It truly is a gem, nestled right in the middle of downtown Lancaster. We really enjoyed their Monday buffet, with unlimited food and options that suit every palate. We recommend Himalayan Curry & Grill to anyone looking for a new restaurant!

Matthew Lau

Google
A local gem, and a family favorite as well. We have never been disappointed with Himalayan, from take-out to dining in with the buffet or ordering off the menu. Outstanding value for the price -- no one serves better Indian or Nepalese food in the region. The tikka masala is their showstopper, but everything from the Manchurian cauliflower and pakoras to the many curries and kormas are worth trying. And make sure you get plenty of naan for the table!

Google
Lunch buffet was excellent and they weren't in a rush despite them closing at 2pm and our party being unaware. The value of the buffet was incredible. Loved the tandoori chicken. My daughter and niece got the vegetable biryani and garlic naan which they loved. Definitely coming back here.

Google
This was the first time we were there, its a small homey place with amazing food. Everyone was very pleasant, welcoming, and attentive. I would highly recommend this place. I wanted to drink the sauce off my plate. There is a parking garage not even half a block away if you can't find street parking.

Steven Correll

Google
Wonderful service and delicious food. I can see how they are very busy on the weekends. Worth going for a midweek meal. Make sure to hit up the last 2 pages of the menu which are Nepalese dishes and are quite nice.

James Buterbaugh

Google
This is my favorite restaurant in all of Lancaster. Such a gem. There isn’t one thing they serve that isn’t spectacular. Small place but if you get the chance. Definitely check out their buffet. The naan is incredible and the service is friendly. I love the mango iced tea as well.

Yelp
No one is gonna like me, after this review - but, with that being said; I have been to some outstanding restaurants in Columbia, MD and that is who I compare other Indian restaurants too (Royal Taj and Chutney). I felt Himalayan in being a cozy restaurant and the waitstaff, friendly and efficient. The cost for the buffet for two, was affordable and it's so nice, seeing buffets, again. You have the opportunity to try new foods, plus you still enjoy your favorites. Food was fresh and plentiful. Though the buffet was on the smaller side, there was a good variety. Personally, the chicken tikka masala, was a bit watery and lacked depth of spice and tomato. I tasted cream (lots of cream) and little resemblance of what I was accustomed too. Their aloo gabi was mildly spiced as well. I missed the taste of ginger/garlic/coriander/cumin; those spices, if used, were subdued. A delicate turkey meatball in a undiscernible brown sauce, packed some heat. My palate was saved, by a fresh, ultra perked up, mint chutney and mango pickle, slightly elevating this meal. The rice pudding was unappealing, for the rice appeared pulverized, the rose water overpowering and the pudding, too watery.

Yelp
Located in downtown Lancaster serving up Nepalese and Indian food is Himalayan Curry & Grill. The high ratings across various review sites and top ranking among restaurants in Lancaster on TripAdvisor sealed the deal as this being our option for dinner. On weekends, make a reservation in advance as they are very popular and tend to get packed in their somewhat modestly sized dining area. Since it is a smaller space, it can get a bit loud, but not so much that you can't carry on a conversation. The staff are all incredibly friendly and do a great job of attending to guests. To drink, get the mango lassi, as it's served in a generous amount in a pilsner glass with wonderful yogurt and mango accents without being excessively sweet. It is served with ice which I thought would water it down, but chilled the drink perfectly. We started off with the vegetable and chicken pakoras. These were both incredibly fresh and flavorful. The vegetable pakoras were a different Nepali preparation distinct from typical North Indian styles, but we agreed they were tasty. For meals, we went with the chicken tikka masala off the Indian menu and the vegetable coconut curry off the Nepali menu. Both of these were incredibly fresh and flavorful, spiced just right, and prepared using high quality ingredients. The naan was prepared to perfection, and is served in generous portions (so big that we couldn't finish 2 orders of naan). The overall prices of the various menu items were very reasonable. While I don't have much experience in Nepalese cooking style and cuisine, this was a great dining experience in the heart of Lancaster. I'd definitely return and recommend Himalayan Curry & Grill to others.

Yelp
This was the first time I've eaten at a Nepalese restaurant, so while I was quite pleased with the flavor and spices of the Vegetable Pakota and Lamb Vindaloo, I have little to compare it to. The service was attentive and respectful, but not intrusive. The atmosphere was very near ideal. It was clean and quite when I entered. My reservation was for 5pm, just as the place opened, but as the evening wore on it became more lively and energetic. It is a small place, so perfect for a casual dinner, but too full and crowded for an intimate occasion.

Lisa C.

Yelp
The food was good. The service was excellent. The tables are very close together. I cannot be a fair judge of the Malai Kofta: the texture threw me. Instead I shared (pilfered from) my companion's Mustard salmon Curry which was divine. I loved the sauce and the fish was perfect.

Kayla M.

Yelp
The food was fantastic. The service was great. They made you feel welcome and cared for. The atmosphere/ ambiance of the place added to the experience!

Sameh A.

Yelp
Small restaurant in downtown Lancaster , tables are very close together given the limited space and the place is clean and has attentive staff. I tried the buffet on Monday nights which was quite disappointing, it doesn't reflect real Nepalese food. Most options at the buffet were very bland and lacked any spices or depth, not sure if this was to produce bigger quantities or to attract more non foreigners but overall the food was just disappointing and it was pretty limited options. Most of the curries were watery and didn't taste flavorful, the rice pudding was also mediocre. Service was great , they are very attentive and quickly brought me my check after my second plate , maybe it was a sign. The place is so tight that you are inches away from the table next to you and you can not move around the restaurant if any one is standing up but it's expected because it's in downtown. I was really hoping this place would be good because I have yet to find any decent Indian/napaleae places in Lancaster or surrounding area but it's really not worth it , they don't have any dishes that were impressive. I will continue the search elsewhere

Yelp
Always a great time at Himalayan Grill and so happy that they reopened their indoor dining! If you get a chance, make a reservation to eat out at this restaurant. The restaurant is great for a date night (because it's romantic and ambient) or a get together with friends and family. Located on Orange Street, it's within walkable distance to the center where the Marriott Hotel is. Highly recommend !

Fay K.

Yelp
I love the food here! The service is great, the owner is great, the ambience is relaxing, and the food is superb! We had the mixed grill, mango chicken, garlic naan, and a few appetizers I can't name all. This was our first visit. A couple weeks later I craved their mango chicken and garlic naan so we went again. The owner is so warm and welcoming. I want to hug everyone whenever I go in because they make you feel like an important guest in their own home. I can't explain it so try for yourself! Definitely going back to try more dishes. Excellent flavors! You leave satisfied and a good full. Not the sick full where you can't move.

Antonella K.

Yelp
Best Indian/Nepali food in Lancaster PA. Our family of five (young kids included) loves the food and ambience of Himalayan Curry and Grill. There is something for everyone here. Our favorites include the Chicken Tikka Masala (a very tasty, creamy/buttery sauce which can be ordered in a range from very mild to hot). We also love the cauliflower Manchurian (a sweet/spicy sauce on top of fried cauliflower....simply delicious). We also always order the veggie pakora (fried potato) and the naan bread to soak up all the extra sauce. This place is delicious and the owners/staff are kind and wonderful people. A must go-to in Lancaster.

James F.

Yelp
Excellent food, atmosphere and service. Reasonable prices and very friendly staff. They appear to be a byob restaurant (our party was not looking for alcohol but we saw other people who brought in wine). This is a must if you're in Lancaster. They offer buffet and off the menu choices. The buffet is all you can eat for $15 and looked very good. Run, don't walk to this wonderful ethnic restaurant. You won't be disappointed.

Jenny C.

Yelp
The best Indian food I've had in years! This is the best Indian food I've had since I lived in London. The navratalan korma was perfect, as was the peshwari naan. All four of us loved everything we tried. The service was excellent. It was a busy Saturday, we arrived fairly late, with no reservation, and they very graciously seated us.

Lorena C.

Yelp
First time eating Nepalese and/or Indian cuisine and this restaurant has made me fall in love with it. Every dish & every bite was amazing. There was a nice lunch buffet that is Tuesday - Saturday 11:30 to 1:45pm for $12 per person, something we didn't try because we knew little of the cuisine or the spice level. To drink we ordered iced tea, mine was Mango, made with real Mango purée, and they were perfect. We started our meal with 2 appetizers...Chicken Samosa that was accompanied by a green sauce that was tangy and a red sauce that was sweet, both were SO tasty; and Shrimp Pakora that was like a fantail shrimp but much tastier. For our entries the great part was that you can choose your spice level. Hubby had Medium level, Lamb Jalfrezi and I had Mild level, Goat Kadai. Both diches came with Basmati Rice, that was perfectly cooked, and we added the Garlic Naan and it was fluffy & warm with just the right amount of garlic. The Lamb & Goat meat fell apart with the fork and the flavors of the spices woke up our tastebuds...OMG! They did a great job with the spice levels for each of us which I appreciated, and we enjoyed EVERY delicious bite. This is now one of our top 3 places to eat in Lancaster. If you haven't had this type of cuisine you have to try it, you will have one of the tastiest meals ever and your tastebuds will thank you! The service was very nice, the atmosphere was cozy, and the prices were very reasonable. Can wait to come back!!!

Yelp
I can't say enough about this restaurant. Unassuming ambiance. The hostess kindly seated my large party during the height of lunch buffet time after a short wait. The inside is remarkably quiet, and the decor is lovely. The buffet is pretty straightforward. $12/person. Take a plate and serve what you will eat. The most delectable chicken tikka, freshly replenished at lunch rush, over basmati rice with incredible palaak paneer. Veggies so delicately fried that it was crispy but not rancid, something I didn't even think was possible - and somehow the flavors of the fresh veggies not lost. Then, the fresh bread - the buttery hot soft and ever so perfectly charred bread to dip in the leftover sauces on your plate - Just wow. Ended the meal with the perfect amount of cold rice pudding - a light touch with floral notes of maybe clove? The servers were kind and friendly, the food was incredible. The price was unbeatable. The restaurant and bathrooms were clean. Wonderful experience!

Sharon C.

Yelp
We really enjoyed the lunch buffet. The restaurant was welcoming and service was good. There was a nice selection of food and I tried everything and everything was delicious. And only $15 per person. Wish I was a bigger eater

Vince D.

Yelp
Damn I love their lunch buffet. A little too much. Words to the wise: If you walk in as soon as they open and find it devoid of other patrons, take a deep breath, leave, and go back in half an hour. Trust me on this. You want more bodies in there. Crowded, even. You need buffers. Human Shields of Gluttony between your empty plate and those chafing pans full of glorious, delicious, endless tikka masala, veggie pakora, and naan bread. Don't think for a minute that you can just exercise simple restraint because of some notion that you'll be judged by other patrons. You won't be. Every single person in that buffet line knowingly but silently respects the doctrine of mutually assured destruction. You're gonna go full-Homer.

Judy K.

Yelp
Aroma! Ambiance! Service! The food was delicious and yes, I went back for more! I recommend Himalayan Curry & Grill.

Matt B.

Yelp
I was in Lancaster to visit with a relative who was visiting the area, staying at the downtown Marriott. We had dinner at the Himalayan Grill and it was a very good experience! If you like Indian or Nepali food, this is your place. The restaurant is small, but seating is comfortable and we had good service. This place draws people from outside Lancaster County, so we had a chance to chat a bit with some folks who drove in from York to eat at Himalayan Grill. The menu features good variety of Indian and Nepali cuisine. We had curried chicken -- I ordered a bit more spice than my relative -- and I had a Somosa on the side. These are available in both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The table next to us, which had four or five people, ordered a pretty wide variety of dishes and passed them around, so they were able to sample more of the menu in one visit.

Nick R.

Yelp
The food was fantastic and authentic. There isn't a single bad thing to say about this place. The staff were very friendly as well.

Gracie S.

Yelp
This restaurant is a gem, it's small but beautifully decorated. The waiter was extremely polite and attentive, and the food was absolutely on point! We had a lovely meal and had absolutely nothing negative to say. Try it! You will not be disappointed.

Ed C.

Yelp
You would have to travel halfway around the world to get food this authentic anywhere else. Great food great staff. Just wonderful.

Hannah W.

Yelp
Maybe it's because they haven't been open during this pandemic, but it was so wonderful to have their food again! This week is Restaurant Week so we knew right away Himalayan was our first choice. We did the Dinner for Two $40 - two appetizers, two entrees. We were so excited I forgot to take pics! I had the Cauliflower Manchurian and Chicken Masala. My husband had the Lasoni Mushroom and Chicken Tikka. Both come with a side of naan and rice. The portions were unbelievably over sized! We had leftovers for the next day. We truly love this place. The flavors were just as I remembered. One of the few places I think I could eat at twice a week. We miss being able to dine in, but we are so elated to have them back.

Paul B.

Yelp
Have had it a few times, always good. Meat is tender and flavorful and I always make sure to get an extra order of garlic naan.

Vincent D.

Yelp
This small and friendly establishment is among the best Lancaster has to offer. Consistently some of the best Indian food I've had. And it's right next door to the best ice cream in the city, if you can fit dessert.

Nuke K.

Yelp
We were the first customers inside when they opened for lunch. Every item on the buffet was quite delicious; my personal favorite was the paneer but the chicken dishes were also fantastic. The dishes are flavorful and spicy but not overly hot...just right, to my palate. I probably don't have anything particularly insightful to say that hasn't already been covered in the many other reviews. Safe to say, there is a reason this place is consistently one of the top ranked restaurants in Lancaster. It certainly does get busy fairly quickly.

Yury P.

Yelp
Good food and very courteous staff. But I give only 4 stars for one reason: they use every square inch of their not so big room; the tables are put side by side - your neighbors are sitting just a couple feet from you; too many waiters. All this made me feel not very comfortable and reminded me taking meals during a flight.

Rich H.

Yelp
Quaint Indian restaurant. Great owners, delicious food. Lunch buffet is great. Get there early as there is limited seating.

adam l.

Yelp
Best food in lancaster, especially the buffet. Great deal and tasty food. Would come here every day if I could.

Chuck N.

Yelp
Excellent food, service, and price! Great buffet and takeout. It's small but amazing!

Emma R.

Yelp
Great buffet! Many gluten friendly options, all full of flavor. Can't wait to go back.

Jack M.

Yelp
Despite having read many positive reviews, I found the yellow curry and rice to be underwhelming. The chicken was fairly well-executed, though did maintain more chew and stick on the tooth than I'd prefer. The curry sauce tasted like it was made from store-brought powder. The flavor was bland and slightly gritty. The rice was well-executed, i.e fluffy and soft while maintaining an acceptable firmness. Overall, this dish simple did not impress any of us.

Delia D.

Yelp
Food and customer service was amazing! Their food is amazing and the onion radish and green chutney is out of this world !!

Virginia J.

Yelp
We navigated our way here on foot with the help of yelp. This place quickly filled up to a full house after we walked in. The women who seated us asked us if we were there for the buffet. We didn't even know they offered a buffet so we said yes so we could sample what Himalayan has to offer. Everything was pretty good. It wasn't great but they had a nice variety of dishes and the price was reasonable. I just thought that the dishes were a little muted and bland compared to other Indian dishes I have made and tried at other restaurants. The Chicken Tikka Masala was very very mild in flavor. I enjoyed the coconut curried vegetables. For a total bill of 23.00 for two people I think the buffet was worth it. Next time I try Himalayan I will definitely order off the menu.

Jao S.

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants in the area. Great for dinner but I highly recommend the lunch buffet as you can try a number of different dishes at once and they're all delicious

Wynne L.

Yelp
The six of us came here for a quick dinner after an arduous exercise. Servicewas fast, food was tasty, and the place feels ethnic. Five stars

Kerry H.

Yelp
Fast friendly service with many options to fit anyone's diet. The food was delicious and the staff very attentive.

Allysa P.

Yelp
Delicious food. Great portions for the price! Always friendly staff and they are quick and efficient! I love it here, it has become a regular spot for me

Gerard P.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. Will definitely be back again as everything that we ordered was absolutely delicious and had a great amount of flavor and heat (we asked for extra spicy and they definitely delivered on that request). Everyone who worked there was professional, polite, and very welcoming.

Larry Z.

Yelp
Himalayan Curry & Grill is an important part of what makes Lancaster City a culinary delight! Delicious food and wonderful atmosphere!

Alexis S.

Yelp
Himalayan Curry is one of our go-to spots! They used to have an amazing AYCE lunch buffet before Covid that was INCREDIBLE for the price, but I think that is paused. However, they have a wonderful lunch takeout special, and their Chicken Tikka Masala is amazing! I wasn't a huge fan of the vegetable curry, but everything else we've had has been amazing. Their momos are super tasty as well.

Lauren L.

Yelp
Literally my favorite place in Lancaster. My husband and I order take out from here every single Saturday . We haven't tired of it yet. As a vegan, my favorites are the vegetable samosas, Baigan Bharta, Dal Palak, and the Chana Masala. My husband as an omnivore loves the Chicken Korma. Give this place a try, they never disappoint!

Rosie T.

Yelp
I haven't been here in a while and I recently stopped by for the lunch buffet I was extremely disappointed in the lack of flavor Even worse, the beans were not completely cooked in the one Dahl dish offered Such a lack of variety and what happened to all the amazing flavors that made me feel it was a five-star place every time I came in? Please get your act together because I'd really not like to be disappointed again It happens again, I just don't go back

Brittany M.

Yelp
8/15/19 visit. First review but not first visit. I love Himalayan. I'm here multiple times a year. I love introducing people to great food and this is one of the places in Lancaster I love to show people. We had excellent service with great attention to our needs. We ordered the Aloo Tikka Chat, Chicken Momo, Vegetable Pakora, mango chicken and chicken tikka masala. All delicious. The momo are my favorite. If you're new to Indian food I'd highly recommend their Monday night buffet (make a reservation- it had limited seating). Or if you're local, their Restaurant Week deal is always outstanding. We will be back soon.

Phil S.

Yelp
Such a good Yelp find! Lunch buffet was amazing - place was full of people. Great staff and food - a must!

Jessica H.

Yelp
Love their food! Usually get chicken tikka masala, samosas, and naan and it's always delicious!

Leo Y.

Yelp
Beware, you may end up eating much more than expected. It's impressive that such a tiny restaurant can have such a broad menu, or serve so many people. We made a reservation for 6:30, changed it to 7 due to traffic, and again to 7:15. When we finally arrived, we had our reserved table, and we began to read through the menu. The Indian food was towards the front and the Nepali food was the last two pages. Since Indian food is common, we decided to only order off the Nepali pages. We ended up with the goat in gravy, salmon curry, and vegetables. All three dishes were great, but the goat stole the show. It was extremely tender, with great flavor, and no bones or gristle. The veggies were a great side dish to go along with it. The salmon curry was tasty, and might be one of my favorite salmon preparations.

Anna K.

Yelp
Wow! What a gem! I grew up here and I don't recall having an Indian place as good as this ever. Lancaster is so lucky to have a great place. My husband ordered it spontaneously in craving for something not American. With the reviews we were impressed and I ordered the Norva Korma (vegetarian northern Indian food) and my husband ordered the coconut chicken masala. We both LOVED our food. So flavorful, authentic and absolutely delicious. I lived in NYC and have had Indian food before and it's just as good. You get a TON of food for what you pay. Ours had basmati rice come with our dishes. Naan is handmade there I think based on the texture of the dough. Overall would go again!

Kelly K.

Yelp
Delicious buffet that gives options for Indian cuisine newbie's . Definitely worth your visit!

Joel Jz Z.

Yelp
In Lancaster Pennsylvania?? How is this so delicious! Started with a Mango Lassi then Chicken Momo, Garlic Naan, and ended with a incredible Chicken Chattinad my senses were exploding with delight from the flavors and spices! Never been to Lancaster before but if you are driving thru or going for a visit to see how the Amish live, add this place to your dinner plans! When I walked in there was not a seat in the house at 7:45 pm so make a reservation!

Lori S.

Yelp
Everything was delicious! We did curbside pick-up for three meals, 2 apps, & naan bread. All of the food is reasonably priced, and large portions. We love the momo (veggie dumplings) & Manchurian Cauliflower (like sesame chicken fried flavor). Dinners included Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Korma and Chicken Jalfrezi-- yum! And each comes with large portion of rice. Support your local restaurants, and treat yourself to this good!
