This place is amazing! I absolutely love this location. It’s a bit tucked away, but the lanai with sunset views, the indoor space, and the patio are all fantastic. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with perfect music and lighting that set the vibe just right. Reservations aren’t required, but they’re always recommended. Service was excellent—our server was very attentive and made sure we were having a great time. The food was outstanding! Just a heads-up: be mindful of the spice level. They use a 1–10 scale; I ordered a 5, which was just right for me, but it might be too spicy if you’re sensitive. There are great vegetarian options, too. The chicken tikka masala came with complimentary rice, the garlic naan was delicious, and the samosas with the green sauce made for a perfect appetizer. Parking is easy to find just around the corner.

Overall good halal food. Samosas were delicious. Chicken Tikka Kadahi was very flavorful and so did Chana Masala and Butter Chicken! Lussi and Batoray may need improvement.

This is my absolute favorite place for Indian and Nepalese food in Hawai’i. I’ll tell you why… The food is always delicious, with so many choices that I still haven’t tried it all and I’ve been coming here at least 10+ years now. The portions are generous and the price is so affordable. The atmosphere in the Kaimuki location is laid back, and I love to eat outside and enjoy the cool breezes at night on their patio listening to music and eating and chatting with friends. We never feel pressured to leave so the next party can have our table bc there’s room for everyone. The service is always so friendly and accommodating. Whenever we have a birthday party or gathering there, the staff goes above and beyond to make us feel special and enjoy the experience. Any substitutions or requests are usually able to be made and there’s never bad vibes about it. This location is HUGE so there’s never a wait for a table, unlike some of the other places in town where it can take an hour or more to get a seat. This is something I highly appreciate because let’s face it: O’ahu is overpopulated and restaurants get hyped up and then you wait forever. And those places raise the prices and quality goes down bc they’re overwhelmed by popularity. They’re BYOB so it makes having some nice wine with dinner that much more affordable plus you can have whatever you want to drink, you’re not limited to the restaurant’s menu. There’s parking galore which is a challenge at other Indian restaurants (if they even offer parking) so that also adds to the enjoyment of eating here. Any time I bring friends here we ALWAYS enjoy, have a great meal, have fun and never break the piggy bank.

Really cool venue and atmosphere. I picked up an order to-go and the food was good, though didn’t get any rice with my baigan bartha. I assume it was an accident since they had multiple orders waiting and I was a little early. Loved the vibe, open roof layout, and the food was good & decently priced. I’ll try again and I’ll be on time. Update: rice is a separate dish to order, it’s like $2…still recommend 🤙🏼

Take this review with a grain of Himalayan salt, as Indian cuisine is among the cuisines I'm least familiar with. But for my first Indian meal in over a decade, this spot hit the spot. The menu was surprisingly diverse, at least to my trained eye, with so many dishes that I wanted to try. Being a spice wimp, I went with the Kathmandu Shrimp Chili in mild, with the requisite $2 bowl of Indian rice. My friend went with something much spicier. We also got the samosas and the nan bread basket to share. The samosas were crisp and fantastic, the green sauce tasty and spicy. My shrimp chili was very red, and definitely had a little kick, even for mild. The rice and the nan bread kept everything nicely under control. Having sampled maybe 1/20th of what this place has to offer, I'll be back, and now I have another place I'd gladly bring my vegetarian friends (though, probably, they already know all about it). Soft drinks are served in the can with a glass of ice. The Indian tea looked good, if you're into that sort of thing. Points for the charming rooftop cafe vibe, too, though this isn't the place for you if you require ice cold air conditioning.

Yelp
First time coming here and heard good reviews from a friend that brought us - 5 people for a 6:30pm reservation. The ambiance was amazing, we sat outdoors and the lights and music were great. It took us about 20 minutes or so to order and our server seemed to have paid more attention to the table behind us but we ended up ordering butter chicken, two different types of curries, rice, naan, and samosas as an appetizer. Thank goodness it is BYOB because the wine and conversation was what saved them from having us walk out. It took TWO HOURS for our food (including the appetizer) to come out..we didn't eat until 8:30pm or so. A big group was there but they left before we ordered so I'm not sure what the reason was for the wait. There were also groups that had reservations that had to stand around for 30 minutes or so just to get seen. Food: overall the food was alright but I've had better Indian food down the road. The butter chicken was watery, the naan has more flavor being burnt than seasoned, and the portions were just not filling. Overall: once again, us bringing our wine and chatting was what made the experience decent but we should have to wait TWO HOURS to receive food. And they never apologized or said it would take a while - and it took an extra 30 minutes to try to get our check. Came in at 6:30 and didn't leave til closer to 10pm. Doubt I'll be coming back

Yelp
everything was delicious, first time to this place but i used to pickup door dash from there and deliver it to ppl and when i asked them what they thought about it they all said it was authentic so i thought what the hell... let's try. took the fam there and the ambiance was very home like and partially inside and outside, like a nice sorta upscale hole in the wall (which happens to be my favorite type of grinds type setting. then came the food. we ordered everything and asked the waiter WESLEY (solid braddah) for recommendations and tried the lamb madras (creamy coconut style curry) which happened to be my favorite. biryani, naan basket, and like 4 others i can't pronounce. amazing taste, depth and flavors were like nothing i've tried. can't eat any other curry now lol. AND THE PRICE WAS VERY REASONABLE FOR ITS CALIBER OF FOOD. service was excellent and food came out fast and elegantly served. kids loved it too. it's also byob. which is always a huge plus. and the best part was the owner SUMAN came out and threw us free desert and we had a convo outside and a cigarette, very personable experience and brother had a ton of aloha!!. 100% will return, and pray they will always be open for generations. Mahalo for the experience HIMALAYAN KITCHEN, SUMAN AND STAFF! until next time

Yelp
Tasty curries (my husband and I both ordered 2 different kinds and sampled each other's). My favorite thing was the garlic naan bread. You can order your preferred level of spiciness for your entree. My advice is to give your waiter something to compare to that you're familiar with. For me, I'm obsessed with sriracha sauce so that's the heat level I like and I'm used to so I asked him what level should I choose. His recommendation was correct so I was happy. My only thing and it wasn't a big deal was I thought the rice was served a little cold and dry.
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
The food here is great. Quality flavorful Himalayan dishes made to the desired heat level. I was really excited to eat what my father was raving about, and unfortunately, I ordered my food to a zero spice level since I have no tolerance for spice and it still made my mouth burn so I wasn't able to enjoy it :(. I can't handle the heat! But I've been places where they can do 0 spice and this wasn't it. Regardless, the service is very kind and it's apparent they care about their restaurant and the food they provide. They keep everything clean despite the older appearance of the state of the complex. They kept refilling our waters after every ship which was a bit excessive but I'll give them props for attentiveness. The location is really neat in the upstairs of the store hub. It's a special little oasis of flavor if you can handle heat.

Daniel A.

Yelp
Amazing food, spiced perfectly. Takes some time from when you order but that only speaks to the quality that goes into the meals. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Aloha! Himalayan Kitchen is our daughter's favorite restaurant on-island. The dish options and execution are perfect every time. I love the the staff and also the garlic naan, the samosas w mint-cilantro chutney sauce. The ice cream is amazing and a special treat. Always glad for lunch at Himalayan Kitchen, and I pack my leftovers for 2-3 lunches during the week. Mahalo Nui Loa. You all are so kind to our family. Blessings to you all.

Yelp
I've been here 2 times and service has always been friendly and quick. First time I tried a Himalayan veggie dish and second time we had the samosas, vege biryani, garlic nan, and an okra dish. I liked the samosas and garlic nan but the others were too salty for me, especially the okra dish. The rooftop seating was nice with the breeze.

Yelp
This was my first time here and I went with my partner to explore Kaimuki and the different flavors it had to offer. We didn't get to stay long to try Himalayan Kitchen's main entrees but we tried their sample platter of appetizers. The host and server were friendly and kind. They helped us by explaining what's on their menu. The server did a great job refilling water and serving us. The chicken tikka cubes were a little dry but still very tasty. The host told us pakora was a mix of fried vegetables. They weren't bad. They are very fried so it was almost like eating chips. I had my first Samosa and that was my favorite item on the platter. Really good! Himalayan Kitchen knows what they are doing with their breads. The naan bread was the most impressive. Easy to pull apart and filling. The bread went really well with the green sauce (I'm not sure what it's called but it tasted like cilantro, lime, and Jalapeños blended together). I will be back to taste the rest of the menu:)

Yelp
Hi everyone, the food is not good at all. The curry full of salt that you will be thirsty the whole day from the salt or msg amount they use. The food and the bread were cold. The restaurant is not clean and nasty. They charge for parking . In short, I don't recommend this place and don't waste your money .

Yelp
I called to ask, till what time can I place a take out order? Answer 8:30 pm. So I call at 8:15, no answer called back every 2 minutes till 8:32. Phone was never answered. So on another occasion called early like around 5:30 and specifically told them I wasn't going to pick it up until 8:30. Based on the condition of the food when I picked it up, it appears they made it at 5:30 and just let it sit there till 8:30. On past take out orders, they have no idea how to pack a papadum to go. Always soggy because they put it into one of the food boxes. Other Indian restaurants on this island have figured out how to wrap papadum separately so it's still nice and crispy when you get it home. I mentioned this to them several times, nothing changes. Some of the food is good, some just ok. I won't waste time anymore trying to place a take out order. Used to be a regular customer but not anymore.

Yelp
It has been many years since my last review. We. Ane early to beat the crowd. We sat out on the balcony, which was nice to be in the open air and not noisy. We shared the jalapeño Naan. It was not spicy at all. The jalapeños were shaved and gave the bread a good flavor. We had the lamb curry that was very tasty. Our vegetable dish was spinach, chickpeas with a tomato sauce. I don't remember the name. We liked the flavor but didn't see the tomato sauOK. We liked that you can order heat level from 1-10. We chose 5. It was just right for my friend. I would take it up a notch to 6 or 7. The staff were very attentive, with filling up our water and making sure we were doing ok.

Yelp
I typically order Himalayan Kitchen off Uber eats, but today we called it in and picked it up since we were in the area. We had waited a good 30 mins after calling to pick it up, and it still wasn't ready. We probably waited over 15 mins after that in the restaurant. (They weren't that crowded btw, only had two groups seated when we came). We finally got our food and headed home. When we got home and started eating, our Chicken Tikka was not as good as it usually was and tasted very watered down. Shortly after the first few bites we found a long black hair and my appetite was ruined. So gross!

Yelp
Food was not bad. Very very spicy just the way we like it. Nice atmosphere inside too. Very clean , service was good as well.

Yelp
Me and a friend decided to have an impromptu dinner on a Friday night. As he wanted to do curry and it's close to his house, we chose this place. We did not have reservations and got there around 6:30pm and were seated right away. The place is a little on the older side, but it's not too bad. It's spacious and noice level was low, which was good that I could catch up with my friend. The staff were nice and helpful with good recommendations on their menu. We placed our order and the food started coming out. Not the fastest, as we probably waited about 15min for our appetizer to come out, and another 10-15min for the curry. BUT, we assumed they make each dish individually to order, which is good. All the dishes we ate were hot, full of flavor, and just the right amount of heat (which you can request 1-10). Serving sizes were nice, and comparable to other Indian establishments. Overall, our experience was pretty nice, food was good, and the company was great. Downside, the place maybe needs a little refresh, and for those who frequent the Kaimuki area know, the municipal parking lot is bad. The next time we dine here, we need to make sure to bring more people for all the food we ordered LoL.

Yelp
I love Indian food. It's a food I grew to love and often ate while living in California but not something I crave here in Hawaii. My friend, who's visiting from California, was craving Indian food and wanted to come to Himalayan Kitchen for dinner. I'd been here before for take-out but never to dine in. From my experience, I wouldn't come back but I did leave full. The restaurant is on the second floor of the building. Walk up the flight of stairs and check in at the front. Our party of four arrived during their dinner hours and were given the option to sit inside or outside. Outside is beautifully lit, open, and airy. Inside has several tables for small groups, music playing, but not the best ventilation. We sat indoors but I recommend taking advantage of their patio outside. The menu at Himalayan Kitchen is vast offering appetizers, specialities, entrees, and much more. They offer different proteins as well as vegetarian and vegan options. I decided on getting Butter Chicken with a Mild Spice (spice levels are 1-10). My group ordered Plain and Garlic Naan and a Side of Rice to share, plus their own entrees. The rice was nothing special--your typical basmati rice. The naan was okay; more on the softer end and not as crispy as I'm used to. We all preferred the garlic out of the two. My Butter Chicken was aromatic and the sauce was rich, savory, and sweet. The chicken were nicely chunked but a bit drier. I'd order something else next time. What didn't make our experience the best was service. It took a long time for us to be helped and served. Our group were sat in the corner and kind of forgotten. We weren't checked on throughout the duration of our meal and we had to flag our server down for different reasons. Between being served our first appetizer and our entree it took over 40 minutes. You can find Himalayan Kitchen in Kaimuki surrounded by other retsaurants such as AV and Restaurant Aki. Parking is available in their paid lot or on the street. With this cuisine being more limited on the island, this is an okay restaurant to satisfy those cravings, just be mindful that service is slow.

Brandon G.

Yelp
While my experience with Himalayan Kitchen was not perfect, they still deserve 5 stars on my account. I ordered to-go and when I went to pick up my food, the restaurant was quite busy--chaotic, even. While my order was missing a few dishes and I didn't realize it until I got home (I should have double checked before leaving), I called the restaurant and they fixed the issue immediately. Not only did they provide the missing dishes, but had offered to hand deliver the missing dishes to me! I have never heard of a restaurant doing such a thing--especially one that I'm pretty sure doesn't do delivery as an in-house service. My family and I enjoyed the dishes that I had with my family while waiting and they did not disappoint in the least. I will be returning for the food and, despite the mixup, to vote with my dollars that this place is worth it.

Yelp
It's been a while since I've been. The food was okay but nothing spectacular and seemed to lack flavor. Ordered: Chicken Tikka Masala Lamb Curry Shrimp Maccha Masala but was given fish. Naan basket - the garlic was good, but the others were super heavy. Saag Dip - this was my fave but didn't like the fry bread. The bread was way too oily. Ordered "Medium" for all, but they weren't spic Pretty they forgot to bring the heat! I'm a wuss so it should have been hot for me.
google avatar

Yelp
The food here tastes great and is cooked to order so your meal may take longer to prepare because of that . (It's worth the wait tho) and my absolute favorite dishes here are the okra and chat. The Chai tea is also delicious ; it's rich and has an amazing taste even without sugar. The service is always amazing and the venue is beautiful! This location is also BYOB and is super cute for a date night or family time. Paid parking is reasonably priced (I paid under $3 and was in the area for about 2hours) .. street parking is available. I 100% recommend this location.
google avatar

Ryan M.

Yelp
Horrible service. The few people there especially the manager tries but they seem short staffed for front of house. I made a reservation for 7:30 and we were sat 7:40. Took forever to even order.

Leah C.

Yelp
Had a very bad/sad experience and unfortunately will take this place out of my regular rotation. We ordered 4 things (3 curries, 1 naan) & each dish we received was wrong. When we asked the hostess about the dishes we received since we were so confused, she tried to convince us it was right, only admitting the mistake after we repeatedly pointed it out. Ended up just paying for one dish and the naan since they gave us a replacement & cancelled the rest when it became clear they could not deliver what we ordered. The dish we took home was gross, had little flavor, and tasted like bad, cheap tomato sauce (the butter chicken). Very sad about this.

Chelsea O.

Yelp
We ordered take out from here and discovered a huge roach in our curry hope we can get a full refund as we are not eating any of it. $70 worth of food. So gross! This was our first time trying this place. Very disappointed and disgusted

Yelp
Good food with a fun outdoor rooftop ambiance. I went with the garlic naan and veggie biriyani. Both were good. 3/5 stars for the food but 4/5 for the ambiance. Service was slow and if I was in a rush I wouldn't go here. It is BYOB tho. So if you're a drinker that will save you some money

Carmen W.

Yelp
Hidden gem in Kaimuki for delicious Himalayan comfort food. I love to bring family and friends here for big gatherings and celebrations and sit out on the patio. We usually go before sunset to catch cozy, warm lighting. Always bring your own bottle of wine or favorite beverage because it's BYOB. my favorites are the lamb madras, samosas, pakoras, garlic naan and butter chicken! Also can't resist a mango lassi and their gelato

Daniel B.

Yelp
The food has amazing flavors and the staff is very nice! I will definitely be back! I love the fresh nana bread also!
google avatar

Kirk P.

Yelp
My favorite Indian Nepali food on the island. Great food and fantastic service. Food's made to order and I love you can choose your own spice level. I recommend the jalapeño garlic naan bread and the butter chicken. The samosas are awesome too!
google avatar

Justin C.

Yelp
Great curries and fast options for takeout. The texture and creaminess is good, but mutes the flavor. The naan bread is hit or miss because half the time it comes out great and soft, other times it comes out pretty burnt on the bottom.

Yelp
We ordered takeout online via Uber Eats today for pick up at 5:30 PM. When we arrived at 5:30 to pick up our order, only then we were informed that our order was canceled. This last-minute cancelation was infuriating enough, but when we went in person to ask why it was canceled, the lady we spoke to blamed Uber Eats and didn't apologize; saying that they paused accepting orders from Uber Eats. They obviously didn't do it properly if I was able to place an order. At least take ownership of your screwup, and don't try to deflect blame. They made an already terrible situation that much worse. We'll never be getting from here again.
google avatar

Noah R.

Yelp
I love Himalayan Kitchen for making reasonably priced delicious Indian food, but my experience yesterday was frankly infuriating. Me and a friend arrived at about 7pm. It took about 20 minutes to take our order when a server tried to take our menus. We told him we hadn't ordered yet and he came out and took our order, we ordered a curry dish, a tandoori dish, an appetizer, rice and naan. We then proceeded to wait for almost an hour as multiple tables that came in after us ordered, got their food and left. My friend and I joked that when we sat down the sun was up and here we were with the sun down and still no food. But slowly we began to get more and more frustrated at the wait, eventually deciding to leave if the food didn't come out by 8:15. Right at 8:10 a server arrives with samosas and basically says that our waiter lost our order and never put it in the system. My friend and I were absolutely furious. The server said the samosas were a complimentary dish as an apology and that they would comp our meal on the house. My friend and I were not in the mood to eat there anymore and wanted to leave, but the manager came out and insisted he would rush the order and comp us, so we decided to give it a chance. Another 15 minutes goes by and to my fury another table gets its order before us. You would think that the kitchen would prioritize the order of the table that has been waiting for over an hour, but I guess not. Finally our meal arrived, and the manager said that the chicken tandoori was what caused the delay. When I snapped back asking if it takes an hour and a half to prepare chicken tandoori, he quickly apologized and clarified he was joking. I appreciate him trying to lighten the mood, but he needed to read the room a little better; my friend and I were pissed and not in the mood for joking. He also offered a complimentary dessert, but when the server asked him about our appetizers he said that they were out and that the samosas were supposed to make up for it. So I guess the samosas were not an apology, but instead were making up for our missing appetizer??? We ate our food and it was delicious but our mood was spoiled by the experience. On top of it all the complimentary dessert never arrived and we weren't about to risk waiting another half hour for it, so we left. Overall I really like this place and I do believe the manager did his best to accomodate us after the error was discovered, but reading their reviews this is not a one-off incident. This restaurant needs to step up and organize better. They also didn't seem to have enough servers, which likely contributes to its disorganization. The reason this is a 3-star review and not one is because they did comp our meal and the food was delicious, but I'm still very irritated at waiting an hour and a half for our food after they lost our original order.

Yelp
The Kaimuki location has been here for years now and has a lanai view overlooking the pickleball courts. I think they could maintain the place a little more, especially the garden and plant area and make it super cute. Park in the cheap the parking lot (literally a few dollars). Look for the cute boutique store Sugarcane and there are stairs tucked away down a little walkway. Take the stairs up to the 2nd floor and you'll find Himalayan Kitchen.
google avatar

Catherine W.

Yelp
We had an excellent experience at the new location at Ala Moana Center and friends were telling me the Kaimuki location was even better. But to me, it was the exact opposite. First of all I love their decor. For a second I was convinced that we were in Northern India (or Nepal). Their outdoor dining area was so cute. Too bad it's too hot to eat there during the day. Service was also very friendly. However the food was quite disappointing. The samosas were very dry. And both curry dishes we had were awfully salty. We had the exact same dish at the Ala Moana location and it tasted 10 times better.

Yelp
This is my third visit to this location on 11th Avenue, each time the food has been really tasty having tried the Lamb Vindaloo, Chicken Tikka Masala, and the Chana Masala (Garbanzo beans and potatoes). Initially I was a little hesitant about the spice levels so started of at level 5, and now worked up to 8 out of 10, which is good for my taste. I'm sure I'll eventually try the higher spice levels at some point. They have a small rooftop area along with indoor seating with a very cosy and intermit atmosphere. I found the wait staff very friendly and helpful during the entire meal, checking the everything was satisfactory and refreshing water glasses. The food itself was really tasty and enjoyable especially the lamb, which had no gristle unlike some other restaurants. Great place to spend the evening with friends over some delicious well prepared food.

Karl K.

Yelp
Food was good but it took so long. This is my 3rd time dining here. 1st time was great. 2nd time I brought 6 friends and it took forever and I was so embarrassed because they were hangry. This time and probably gonna be my last too, me and my friend were in the restaurant for 3 hrs. Not because we were talking or whatever, it's because we waited so long from they took our orders till we got our food. And they messed up our orders. But we didnt mind that anymore cause we're so hungry. Long story short, it wasnt a pleasant experience.

Yelp
Love this place. This was my first time trying it and all the food options there are soooo Ono. We are family style so we got to try a little bit of everything. Super flavorful and the spices are on point. Their rice plates are delicious - I could just come here for the rice itself! The mango lassi is to die for - I could drink one everyday! Def will come back!

Yelp
Went here for lunch. All of the food was very bland. No flavor, lamb was very tough, and hardly any chicken. Will not be going back.

Yelp
**PSA** - The bathroom light is located right outside the door. So turn that on before entering...or join the darkness. . Located upstairs on the left when entering the purple gate at the entrance across the park. No alcohol served but still BYOB. . Foodie Fav - Lamb Madras was so scrumptious! Lots of lamb chunks. Ordered at a level 5 spicy - totally mild. Don't forget to order rice with your curry! (Rice sold separately). . We sat outdoors to enjoy the chilly evening. Naan was pretty sizeable. Ordered 2 to share between myself and a friend. Only got through a half. Always love me some leftovers. . The Chicken Biriyani at a spicy 7...yes. As someone who identifies as a spicy food lover, 7 was just right. At 7 the spice lingers on your tastebuds without overpowering the other food flavors. Very enjoyable! However, if you prefer eating with your mouth on fire - send it and have a 10. lol. . Tikka malasa Lamb Madras Chicken Biriyani Naan . cheers! (:

Yelp
Visited from San Francisco and was craving Indian food. Butter chicken was tender even with breast meat. Also had the saag daal with potatoes and that was also very flavorful and tasty. Would recommend! Just remember to byob- a light beer would have tasted really good with the meal!

Yelp
What a neat place! Located in the heart of Kaimuki, is this restaurant that takes you to a different place than Hawaii. Our party ordered the Himalayan Bread Basket and Himalayan Platter for starters. Both came out fairly quickly and flavored very well. Staff assumed that was all we wanted to order and were about to take away our menus. We had to reassure that was not all we wanted to try. For entrée our party ordered the chicken tikka madras with medium spice along with rice. The entrée cooked perfectly and flavored with the right amount of savory, smokiness, and spice. Unfortunately I couldn't finish all of the food because the appetizers were super filling! So why the three (3) stars you ask? Unfortunately service was a let down for me. Our original server lacked personality and didn't really check up on us (until after the floor manager came to our rescue). Our party literally had to throw our hands up in the air to flag someone down. Not only did the wait staff attempted to take away our menus mid-service, but questioned why we weren't touching our entrée and commented "why is the food that bad?" Actually sir, we were getting full from the appetizers that we can't seem to finish the main course. Overall, I would come back to this place for the amazing food. It's just unfortunate that the service was the downfall.

Yelp
Was feeling some Indian and was intrigued by the menu so we stopped in. I don't usually speak to much on decor, ambiance, etc but this place is cool! Very understated but it just has a really good vibe. Also the lanai seating is great. Views not spectacular but there's a great breeze keeping you comfy which is great. As for the food, I love Indian and this place does not disappoint. They have great lunch specials with a good variety of dishes. We ordered a few things and everything was excellent! (Incl a great appetizer platter). I also like you can vary the spice level from 1-10 (next time I'll go higher but a 5 was med mild to me). Other reviews complain about the slow service but the waiter (who was great) explained everything is cooked fresh to order and Indian isn't fast food. With that in mind it actually wasn't bad at all. Long short I enjoyed Himalaya very much and will def be back.

Yelp
The Ala Moana Himalayan Kitchen was good so I decided to try this location. I'm not sure if this location is related to the one in Ala Moana but... I was pretty sad with my meal. I ordered the Saag Paneer and it was way too salty to eat. I tried to suck it up and just eat it but I just couldn't. Anyone know how to make a salty dish less salty?

Yelp
This place is always serving great food with fast and friendly service! The Saag Dip, Spring Rolls, Tikka Masala and Lamb Saag are must haves! Honestly you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. This is also a great place to pick up food to take home as it travels well! The only downside is how hard it is to get to the rooftop location.

Yelp
Since I have discovered my love for Indian Curries, I have been waiting for an opportunity to try this location in Kaimuki. Very cute roof top setup, it had a great vibe. By some stroke of luck we got there at the perfect time, just before the crowds and due to the amount of space, there was enough tables and room for everyone to eat comfortably. The service was amazing, we were seated right away, we got our waters immediately, our food came out quicker than any other place I've ordered this kind of curry from, and they checked in to make sure things were going great. We didn't even notice the other part of the restraunt filled up. Now for the best part. So I'm not as adventurous and tend to stick with what I love, chicken vindaloo has been my absolute favorite. The curries have levels for spice 1-10, I went with 5 because I wasn't feeling too spicy and it was the perfect level of spice where I could enjoy the food with a little kick. Chicken Tikka masala was great as well, always a favorite. The sorbet (dragon fruit lychee) was delicious and a great way to end dinner. Definitely look forward to returning (I'll probably order the same curry) but I look forward to trying the 4 spice chocolate gelato.

Yelp
Himalayan kitchen continues to get better and better! The owner is always gives a friendly greeting. The food really could not be better. Even the tandoori meats are still moist inside, which is a real accomplishment. We keep returning and recommending to friends. I also highly recommend it to visitors at the park where I volunteer.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to eat in Kaimuki. The atmosphere of the restaurant is really nice with outdoor and indoor seating. I love all curries and naan I have tried soo far. What I tried: -Chicken Tikka Salad: ok. The cilantro dressing is good but the salad is nothing special. The chicken was a bit dry. - Momo: gyoza. It was soft and good. -Sagra Madras: my favorite curry! Lots of flavor with veggies. I usually get this with lamb. -Chicken Tikka Masala: creamy and delicious! Really enjoyed it! -Poori: fried naan. Love the texture and it goes really well with the curry. I always order this. It's light too. -Jalapeño garlic naan: my other favorite naan. Not spicy, and very flavorful. The staff are all very nice and are always happy to give you recommendations. This place is also byob.

Yelp
My date and I got three dishes- eggplant korma, yellow dal, and veggie curry. Every one of them tasted like salty tomato sauce. No spice difference between any of them, no flavor whatsoever. I could've put a basic veggie blend and some salty tomato sauce together and literally that would be the curry. I was too embarrassed for the restaurant to tell them the food was so disappointing... Once someone asked how the food was and I said "ok..." and the server looked at me funny and walked away. Next another server asked my date how the food was and she said "yeah..." and that server said "good, can i get you anything else," clearly not actually caring to ask us how the food was and listen. I've had good food from here, but this was appalling how poor the food was yesterday.

Yelp
Went or lunch about 1p on a Sunday. The best thing I can say is that the naan (Himalayan Bread Basket) was fantastic, as we remember from our last visit years ago. Service: Very inattentive at first. Server was preoccupied fixing something with the billing system. Food: All the tandoori meats (chicken in appetizer sampler and biryani, and lamb (Everest Sekuwa)) were overcooked and dry. Appetizer sampler (Himalayan Platter) was good. Ambiance: OK, kind of run down. We first visited over 10-15 yrs ago - it's an old restaurant. Next time, we'll just order naan to go.
