Himalayas Indian Restaurant City Centre Christchurch

We had dinner at Himalayas. We ordered all the recommended options which were unique and chef special, we were not disappointed. It was amazing. The taste was so so unique. We ordered Himalaya chef special cheese chicken tikka , himalaya special prawn curry( comes with rice),peshwari naan(comes with 4 pieces). Everything was so tasty. The ambience was average, like any other restaurant. The person who waited our table was so friendly and took great care of us. Best thing about the restaurant is the variety and unique food options it offers.

One of the best, flavourful curries we have had in a long time and the lamb was melt in the mouth. Sharing platter was great but make sure you are hungry :). Staff were lovely and being able to bring your own wine was an added bonus. Strong recommendation!

A nice place, amazing service, friendly staff. No extra charges for credit card or paywave. Food quality was good. Chicken tikka was a bit less soft to my standards but overall good. Karahi chicken was also very good and tasty. Quite good taste for a desi food lover. Had Gulab jaman with ice cream at the end. There are few parking spots available outside on street. Recommend to visit

Every dish we tried was delicious. Meat was tender, curries spiced as we requested. The server was very friendly. They let you finish a course before bringing out the next dish, which we loved. Would definitely eat there again. Mango Lassi, Mixed platter, Himalayan Special Lamb Curry, Lamb Methi, Chicken Chenai, Garlic Naan

Very good, VERY good!! Took my mum here for dinner, it’s her first time trying Indian food and she was amazed how flavorful the food is. Very friendly staff, great service. Highly recommend!!

Had the first evening here with friends and enjoyed it so much came back again a couple of nights later food is so fresh and delicious authentic flavours best we have had anywhere

DELICIOUS!!! Throughly enjoyed our experience here. The man who waited us was so lovely and kind— the food took a little while to come out, but we weren’t in any particular rush and he was sweet about it. The food itself was yummy and filling. The spice levels are true to taste, I got it at medium spicy and it had the perfect kick. Portions were generous. The restaurant was busy with take out orders on top of dine in customers, showing the popularity! Would come again and recommend to others.

I have dined at the Himalayas many times but this time was different, there were twenty-nine of us for a birthday celebration. Upon arrival, the tables were beautifully laid out despite last minute additions. Many of us hadn’t seen each other in years but the staff were very considerate, allowing time to settle before ordering. The menu presented a delicious variety of dishes with one diner taking advantage of the goat which he said was not always available in restaurants. The staff were outstanding, even providing candles for the cake and always polite and available. A fabulous evening sharing memories, great company and food was enjoyed by all thanks to Moksh the manager and his wonderful team.

This Indian restaurant was a lovely dining experience. You could tell it was a family business and they took pride in their product. The service was great, very attentive and checked in with us during our dining. We had the chickpea vegetarian recommended dish, saag prawns, garlic naan and spicy pickles. One let down was I found the dishes not spicy enough even tho we asked for medium and I would have like more intensity in the flavour. I gave a 4 because of the whole experience and not just the meal.

Everything was so delicious. I've never had better Indian food. The lamb roganjash was so tender and perfectly season. The chicken tikka masala was super juicy and had the perfect hint of smokiness.

I had fairly high expectations of this place after a recommendation from a friend. Unfortunately I left the place disappointed. Ordered Chicken bhuna and lamb rogan josh. Both came served with basmati rice. Taste for both were average, nothing to really write home about. Portions were on the small side, suitable for light mid eaters. The mango lassi tasted of syrup rather than mangoes. Could definitely do better. Overall there are better ones around for the price.
