"A symbol of Buenos Aires’s golden age, the Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo was the locus for the horseraces that played a major role in 1930s and ’40s porteño culture. Crowds flocked to the track on weekends; great wins (and many more losses) inspired dozens of tango songs. Today, the grand 1876 Belle Époque structure still hosts a handful of weekly races. For an up-close look at the horses, check out the showcase before each competition; place your bets and pay the small fee to watch the steeplechase from more comfortable tribuna oficial seats, offering great views of your horse as it crosses the finish line. Had a fun Saturday afternoon here with my wife . Got a nice table out by the track , good facility with clear big screen for viewing races. Great access to the horses for pre race viewing.

This is a great place for a fun day out. The racetrack is huge and the building is classy and includes a casino. There was an Asado & Empanada festival in the park after the racing when I was here, so you could really treat yourself to very fine food and drink. The aroma of high quality barbequed meats in the air was intoxicating. You are expected to wear a collared shirt when being inside the casino hospitality area. It is nice to dress up fancy, but really it is not an expensive occasion. The entry to the racecourse is free and you can always place cheap bets. With a capacity of 50,000, it is the 2nd biggest racecourse in Argentina, and considered the most modern in South America. There are 120 race days per year here, and it also hosts regular fairs and music concerts. I will definitely return here.

Well worth a visit especially on race days. Beautiful buildings and grounds, the casino was cool but you need a collared shirt.

One of my favorite things to do in the city. It’s free entry and it’s a beautiful setting, great architecture, buildings and greenery. Places to sit upstairs, including a restaurant and cafe, which cost a fee but not much at all. I prefer it outside where the atmosphere is good during the race. It’s simple and fun to bet a few notes. By a racing magazine on entry and learn 1 to 12 in Spanish for your bets. Love it.

Google
The most tidy, beautiful racecourse I have ever seen. We attended on a day with no races but it was still wonderful to see the surrounds. There is an underground playground (casino) which really took us by surprise!

It's always a wonderful time. Really nice day at the tracks

Unbelievably beautiful! I've never seen such a beautiful racetrack, and I've been to all three of the Triple Crown tracks. This American was incredibly impressed! One thing that was very different was that a day at the track for us at home involves champagne and cocktails. Imagine our surprise when we found that no alcohol is served.

Yelp
Beautiful slot machine casino. The place is huge. They got a few restaurants but they are not cheap. There is no complementary anything here. No slot machine service. You have to get up and get everything. They sell cigarettes but no lighters or matches. I was told that back in the day this place had better service like a real casino. Like up to Las Vegas standards.

Yelp
If you like horse racing or just want to do something different the hippodrome is the place where its at. Huge spaces and big lovely grounds to spend the whole day outside at the races. I helped my dad bet and we got the hang of the local lingo. Inside you can eat and sit at a nice table all day while going outside to watch the races. It's affordable not crazy expensive which it seems like it would be. You have a few options to eat, a more formal steak restaurant and the cafe bar options inside which are more like a cantina but everything we tried was great. Will be returning, such a nice escape from the city.

Yelp
The place is a casino and they do horse racing there. I went for the casino. There are over 10000 slot machines if you are up for that! Slots are tight though so watch out!!

Yelp
Went here twice. Once on 6/22 and again on 6/26. Both times we went we witnessed a horse breaking its leg during the race. It was then killed, tied up, and thrown onto a trailer in front of the audience. The animal brutality here is unbearable. This is not a place to support.
