Really nice hostel. Great location 5 minute walk from downtown, just have to climb a short hill. Pretty cheap compared to everything else in town. Super friendly and social, met lots of friends while I was there. You can go out to town with people all the time, there are events organized somewhat regularly. Rooms can get a little cold at night in the winter, but they are clean and comfortable.

Nice hostel, our dorm was quite clean, bathroom and toilets too. Good location (only 5-7min walking to town) but parking is very hard to find around the hostel! The guy at the reception was friendly and helpful. I recommend this place for your stay in Queenstown! 😊

For me, hippo lodge is the nicest hostel on the South Island so far. The manager is really friendly and looks after everyone like best friends. The atmosphere here is very family-like. We cook, bake and do lots of things together. It never gets boring here! The whole hostel is clean because it is cleaned every morning... the whole team is very helpful and the community is wonderful :) I have been here for over a month and plan to stay longer :)

Favorite hostel I’ve stayed at. Right when I walked in on my first day in QT, people were hanging out in the living room and immediately said hi and made me feel welcomed. The location is great, you can walk anywhere in town in under 10 minutes. Also, the staff are friendly and do a job of planning fun events for the hostel.

Great Hostel, one of if not my favorite that I've stayed at. The vibe here is very homey and it's quite social as well. Everybody is so welcoming here. Not to mention the view from the Top house is stunning. Has everything I'd ask for the price I paid, I'm so glad I got to stay here for a couple weeks

LOVED MY STAY HERE!! Definitely more of a home rather than a hostel. Made some lifelong friends here and everyone hangs out together. A really social hostel, and I loved the events that Marta threw!! Great views, and lots of space. Would definitely stay here again!

I couldn’t get a photo as we had roommates at the time but good god I’m never coming back out there. The sheets were not washed and the room was definitely not cleaned well. I was appalled by the shared kitchen, there were stacked food everywhere which was not organized and we couldn’t use it well and there were unwashed dishes too. Not only that but we were assured we can see a late check in form and that a key was readily available but when we get there, it wasn’t prepared; I had to make a call so we can get in. No parking space!
